Avoid at all costs. For a small space they have already increased my rent by 50 percent in about a year. From about $100 they are now charging $150. I'll be terminating my business with them very soon. Twice they increase the rent in a year. What had been a perfectly pleasant, if inconveniently-located and overpriced storage experience was made pretty rotten when we finally tried to move out. The woman at the desk when we tried to do this was sarcastic, rude, and dishonest repeatedly during our short interaction with her. She first told us that there was a trash can where we could dispose of some stuff we no longer needed; this is not true, there is no trash at the storage facility, as she eventually revealed. (Why not? I find that baffling.) She first told us that she'd just moved to the area, so she couldn't provide us any advice about where in the vicinity of the storage facility we might find a dumpster we could use. (We lucked out with the Citgo next door.) Five minutes later, when we asked her if she'd just moved to the area, she said no, she'd been here a long time. She saw the scattered styrofoam peanuts in the unit once we'd cleared out and said "you can't do that. You have to clean it up." We said we'd be happy to, but they didn't have any place to throw them away (nor did we have a broom). She insisted that we had to do it anyway and she would give us a broom. But as we were walking toward the office, we chanced upon a maintenance employee at the storage facility, sweeping up with a broom. At that point, the desk lady realized she was busted, and that we knew she was trying to make us do something that other employees at the storage facility are already paid to do. She shrugged and sent us on our way. Not everything that was awful about this experience was that woman's fault. It's simply bizarre that they don't have a place for people to throw things away at this storage facility. But through her campaign of dishonesty and sarcasm, she managed to make the experience significantly more unpleasant. Sullen and non-responsive would have been a major improvement. Self-storage, like moving, might be one of those things where the standard level of competence is so low that you must accept this crap. But I hope not. Well, it's clean. I can't fault them on that. Otherwise, I really agree with the other reviewers about how unfriendly and overpriced this place is. Several friends have also had the same experience, so be warned and remember that there are so many better options for storage. This part of Bethesda is overrun with storage facilities, so it may be difficult for you to wade through the mess. After visiting 4 other locations that were fairly unprofessional and pricey, my wife and I walked into EZ Storage and were pleasantly surprised. First off, their prices were $40 less per month than any other storage facility in the area for a 5x5 space. I was blown away when she said that and we pretty much were convinced right then that this was the place we wanted. Second, the facility is brand new, so it's very clean and has up-to-date security and elevators. They also have huge garage doors to move your stuff from your car to inside the facility, which is much easier than trying to push open a door. Finally, the people that work here are very professional and know their stuff. Of the other 3 storage facilities we visited, this was the only one at which we didn't get a surly attitude at. Clean, modern, and reasonably priced self-storage facility in a great location. I've had a unit there for about 5 years now and have had no problems. Access is always easy, and they have a large number of carts available for you to move items around, which is a great help and getting in and out easier. I've never had a problem with the facility or the staff. They also offer online payment, which is nice so you can set up an auto pay or pay online with a card each month so your stuff doesn't end up on Storage Wars. read more

There are so many storage facilities out there that the attitude of the "managers" at this facility should not put this one at the top of your list. As I preferred to pay for a year and got a month free when I rented the space, I had no idea the time was up on the lease. The facility provides no billing or notification regarding amounts not paid until you get the notice that your property in storage will be put up for auction if you do not pay the amount due. (I would have been more than happy to pay for another year if notified that the lease was up.) As the property is in an estate, there are checks to pay bills but no credit cards. EZ storage will not take a check at this time because the bill is "overdue." It appears that the service you get for their high prices is none. They lack the ability to deal with the public and fail to recognize that credit cards are not always available to the renters of their space. (They will also take cash. But again, estates so not have cash on hand.) Other facilities provide bills or notices of payment due rather than threatening notifications as their first correspondence. One wonders what their managers actually do since the form letter was clearly automatically generated. And the penalty being charged is actually higher than the monthly rent of the storage unit. Look elsewhere for storage needs. read more

Sadly, this company uses unethical business principles to increase revenue from each account. We were first offered one rate when connecting with the company online, and when we came in physically to move in, they gave us a rate that were $20/mo higher. Furthermore, they do not follow through promises (such as to send us instructions on how to update information online) and then slap fees. Overall, avoid when possible as there are SO MANY options around. It is not worth contracting with an unethical company as EzStorage. read more

HORRIBLE !!!! DOOO NOT USE Ez storage employee didn't explain well to you. the lady said all you need to do is sign a paper and tell them you are moving out. If you don't take the lock your storage will go on action. My friend forgot to take out the lock for me, so 2 months after i got a $420 bill saying that i still own the storage. I called them to discuss and asked what happened, employees don't know much and tell you to call another number. Which end up i still have to pay for it. Hands down, above and beyond in terms of quality service. I had to store all my stuff for about 1.5 months, and was really concerned as this was my first time using storage and I had heard horror stories of storage places auctioning stuff off or rats,etc. But these guys are extremely reassuring and helpful. And in fact, very affordable with 1 month free. Some people were just jerks at other places, but the (husband and wife, I think) that run EZ storage are very nice. They have advanced payment online too, which helps. The place is also very clean, great security, tucked away in a nice neighborhood. Easy access, and plentiful carts which helped a lot for moving in and out. Plus they also helped me out when I couldnt figure out how to close my uhaul truck upon moveout. At the end of October, we downsized my mother's storage unit and shipped some furniture out to my sister. The staff was easy to work with and very accommodating. It was chaotic as we had movers helping and we were still making decisions. All went smoothly, so satisfied customer here. read more

While the customer service was fine, and we had no problems with the storage of our property, I will NEVER use them again. We had to pay the full month's fee for storage for 3 days. And no refund. We used them for about 2 months and 3 days. THose last 3 days, cost me 230 dollars! So I paid a full month of rent for it, and we could not get a refund of our prorated amount. As is written, this company is not customer friendly. They lob on rent increases at will within months of renting the unit. While the units are clean, their corporate practices seem less than clean. EZ Storage is a clean and convenient storage facility. However, there are at least 3 other choices in a one mile radius, and I would recommend using any of those others. The Corporate Management is extremely consumer "unfriendly". They put items, in the contract, that you would NEVER know about or expect. My particular item was the insurance, which I did not want or need. It is required the first month of a special. They did not explain that it had to be cancelled "in writing" or it would be put on your credit card each month. i called to appeal and each person that I spoke to was "colder" than the last. I was told "no exceptions" and that I should have read every word of my contract! I agree, I should have, but I also believe that that this should be explained at the time of signing. Like many others, I found their business practices to be shoddy, their effort at communication non-existent and their principal focus to be the extraction of every dime. Even credit card companies show more business sense than to lose long-standing customers over a late fee (even the extortionate one they are now charging), but not these guys. Never never use this place. They do not have a proper way to sign out locks and charged me for a month I did not use and clearly lied about circumstances that justified their charging. This storage facility is clean, well lit, has easy access and the new management team could not be nicer or more willing to help. We were very impressed with them over the course of two visits to the facility. They run a professional operation and tried hard to accommodate our storage needs, they were flexible and helped us think through what size unit we would need. We did not rent from them only because we needed a unit size they did not have on our timeline but otherwise we would have rented there. Their prices are the best we found and we have already recommended them to a friend. Further, if we need storage in the future, we will rent from them ourselves. read more

Similar to other consumers who have had horrible experiences and lived to write about them - I was not exempt. The staff is rude and at times outright insulting. After several years and multiple units being occupied, my review hinges on a billing miscommunication and approximately $30 in fees. The dispute arose over the use of the term "paid through" as opposed to "paid up to." That subtle distinction in the phraseology has cost me an extra month's rent plus fees and has earned EZ Storage another one star review (would be zero stars if allowed!) and the loss of this customer and hopefully others. In an economic environment replete with choice, the decision by EZ Storage to remain obstinate, rigid, and inflexible seems impractical. I wish I had read any one of the many reviews BEFORE I signed a rental agreement with this company. Lesson learned and I hope this can become a reciprocal learning experience for EZ Storage too (highly unlikely). There are too many storage options available; why be mistreated by a company who cannot see the forest for the trees? Good riddance to bad customer service. read more

I needed a storage unit near my condo in Friendship Heights. There are several nearby but I settled on EZ Storage because of its decent pricing. After reserving the unit online, I got a call from Paul who was extremely friendly and he answered a few questions. When I arrived to fill out the paperwork and see the unit, I was first impressed by how clean the place is. Then, I met Paul and his wife Cindi. They are by far some of the friendliest people I've come across in a very long time. They were efficient, personable, and professional. Cindi explained all of the important aspects (contract, monthly payments, other rules, etc...) without taking a lot of time. The whole process was easy. I've since been back to the unit twice and the entire complex is cleaner than any other storage unit I've ever rented. I am EXTREMELY SATISFIED with my unit, the pricing, the complex, and the on-site management. Though I hope Paul and Cindi stay for years, I suspect these kind people will easily burn out. read more
