The pizza is solid. You're not going to dream about it, but it's got a good crust and decent topping options. That's about all the compliments I have. Came here for lunch with a friend. Pizza was good, sides were meh. Brussels sprouts were super mushy. Everything else was pretty bland. Was out recently and wanted to order a pizza to take home. Surprise! You can't. You get a robot recording that tells you that you have to (fingers crossed) find a parking space and come in. I decided just to get slices because I had already wasted enough time and wasn't going to stand there while they cook my pizza. Another annoying thing is how minimal their menu copy is. Any descriptions would be helpful to make a decision and also inform for dietary restrictions. So much copy about Frank & Frank, nothing about the food. No I don't know what's on a "Calzoagie Pie". I didn't order a pie to go but I imagine if I asked for a modification or other toppings I would get a stern no. We went here to try it out. The first thing we noticed was the limited amount of tables. We arrived at 5:30 PM on a Wednesday and we're told out wait for a table would be an hour. So we decided to eat at the bar which is very nice but has limited seating. The bartender was great. Their tap list is limited but local. We ordered a mushroom pizza. I FINALLY, after almost a year of them opening, made it here. We stopped in later in the evening, hoping to pick up a slice or two, but the slice counter was closed for the night, so I ordered a small cheese pizza for takeout. First impression was that I really liked the cheese, sauce, and dough, but I wasn't thrilled with the crust. It was a little too burnt for me (very charred black bubbles were not tasty). The rest of the pizza was really, really good, and the taste reminded me of a favorite pizza shop (now closed) that I ate as a child. Very cute spot , second floor was a little more cramped but that seems to be the norm. Our server, Jackson, made our experience. He was so helpful and made great recommendations. Have eaten at F&F a few times recently with friends. Able to try a few different items. Service has always been good and one time we had a server with a trainee, the trainee was terrific. Really enjoyed the Clam pie and antipasto salad. Thought the pepperoni pizza lack enough seasoning and was just not real tasty. The Calzoigie pie is really different and tasty. Really enjoyed the crust on all the pies. The chili oil that is available is interesting to add to a few bites. One time we stopped in later at the bar and slices were not available anymore so we ordered a small pizza, so if u are looking for a slice and it is getting later in the evening check out to see if slices are available. read more

Oh boy, ever since I heard that F&F was opening in Pittsburgh it's been on my list of places to try. It absolutely matched my expectations and can't recommend it enough. My partner and I were able to walk in and get a table on a Saturday afternoon with little to not wait. The hostess' and severs were polite and attentive to any of our needs. Maybe it's because it was snowing out, but the space was so so cozy. Nothing like exposed brick to remind me of a Brooklyn pizza shop. Now the food was absolutely incredible. We ended up trying the Rigatoni and the Croque Monsieur pizza. The rigatoni was a perfect al dente with an incredible vodka sauce that offered a little spice. A friend made a lunch reservations for 4 of us then she had to cancel..so my wife and I went anyway..and I'm glad we did! The restaurant was lively and vibrant. Our waitress Shannon was a sweetheart and helped us since it was our first time here. We ordered a white and a pepperoni pie.. both are delicious. Great crust, great structure, no flimsy slices. I do wish the toppings went a bit farther out to the edge, but that's just me (I'm not a crust girl). - The salad was so interesting with a variety of lettuces, herbs, pickled shallot and mustard seed in the dressing. If you don't have a reservation, you can try to find a seat on the bar side where there are some counter spaces; we arrived at 6pm on a Saturday and were able to find seats within 15 minutes. You'll order at the bar and your food will be served in takeout containers. Service was pretty quick, considering the crowd. As it was crowded, it was very loud and tough to hear each other speak. The pizza was tasty; it had a nice chewy crust and a good sauce to cheese ratio. However, nothing about the pizza would make me come here over any of the nearby pizza places. A 12-inch pizza was enough for myself and my partner. We were surprised that the arancini was a single piece, and it tasted fine but not amazing. My husband and I agreed the pasta was definitely the best thing we had although we did really love and enjoy the pizza as well. I saw some other patrons mention the high-char on the crust. I didn't mind too much but I agree the char level is very high. I think a little less would be perfect. We did love the chili oil they offer to dip you pizza and/or crust in - such a nice touch and delish! I will say our mushroom pizza was the least favorite and we both like mushrooms but it felt a little overpowering - would not order again. We both enjoyed the leek and pancetta but some of the pancetta was chewy and not rendered or cooked enough. The pepperoni and cheese were for sure our favorites of the day which surprised us a bit. We went on Friday at 5pm when they opened and there was already a line down the block. The inside is bright and light with a bar area with seating along with tables. There's an upstairs event area. The menu is small and simple and done well. Things that would absolutely get again are the arancini, rigatoni, brosato of beef, calzoagie pie, and chocolate lava cake. This is not a place with ranch for your crust but they do have Calabrian chili oil which, while good, isn't quite hot enough for my taste. I went here to grab a quick slice of pizza and was pleasantly surprised to see a nice variety, including seafood pizza, and a unique one that I tried alongside the traditional pepperoni and cheese. Mine had grilled onions and was spicy as well as sweet. It had all the flavor flavors and I'm telling you it was pretty good. First off, let me say I was looking forward to my first visit to F&F. I love all styles of pizza and this Brooklyn-based pizzeria has received a lot of hype for its "authentic" Brooklyn style pie. I sat at the bar for lunch and ordered two slices. They came out quickly but I was alarmed by how well done they appeared to be. When I checked the bottom of the crust, it was black. My first bite confirmed that this was more of a New Haven CT pie than any Brooklyn style pizza I've had. Sauce and cheese both seemed bland but that could be due to the charred crust simply overwhelming any flavor from the rest of the pizza. I get it, some people like this type of pie, but it's not for me. I'll be sticking with Mineo's when I'm looking for great pizza. Oh, and they apparently do not give out coins as change when you pay cash. This did result in me receiving a 77 cent discount on my $11.77 bill. That's not made clear anywhere that I could see, but it's better than rounding up. read more

Having recently returned from a trip to Italy, I was very excited to try this place! Not only do they hit Brooklyn/NY Style pizza on the mark, but also a very authentic Italian taste too! The interior decor is warm and welcoming. There is both a bar and seating. I loved that they had a case of slices if you wanted to walk in and grab a to-go. We did choose to dine in (make a reservation - they are busy) and had a lovely time. Our server was great, and answered all of our questions. We tried the vodka pasta and the traditional cheese pizza. Both were excellent! They brought out Calabrian chili, which we added to everything! We ordered a large plain pizza to dine in on this recent Thursday afternoon. It was ok, just not $26 ok. This was our second visit. On our first visit, we had a terrific exotic mushroom pizza, so, I think we will stick with toppings going forward. Also, I will still steer way clear of their canned chili oil. Why do they even bother to offer something so intense? It may fly in NYC, and while I don't regard myself as a suburban rube, I found the fire inapproachable. Extremely good pizza in Mt. Lebo! My husband and I visited recently for the first time on a weeknight, and I was glad that we had a reservation - it was packed! It's a cute dining area that has a downstairs and an upstairs, as well as a bar space. Very chic decor, too! We were quickly seated and ordered some wine, some apps, and two small pizzas. For apps, we tried the burrata and peppers, as well as the arancini. Both were very tasty and beautifully presented! We liked the fresh flavors of the burrata and peppers, but being such a small portion, we felt that it could have benefited from some bread or crostini. The arancini were hot and cheesy, but they fell apart easily when trying to split them, which was not ideal for sharing with a dining partner. The pizzas arrived with some confusion because although we ordered two of the smaller-sized pies, the kitchen made us two large pies. Thankfully, our server (as well as someone I assumed to be a manager) helped us by splitting the two large pizzas and placing two halves on our table and the other two in a to-go box (the large pies are LARGE). They also kindly adjusted the cost on our bill to reflect the smaller pies. The pizza itself was SO good and is definitely why you should visit. We tried both the leek guanciale pie and the sage sausage pie. I'd strongly recommend both! They complemented each other very well, and the crust was perfectly thin and crispy with some chew. We both agreed that we'll return and just get pizza next time, though perhaps we'll try a pasta dish as well. All in all, I look forward to returning for great pizza! read more

This place has only been open 3 weeks. Typically, I wait at least 6 months before trying a new place so they have a chance to work out the bugs, but I was craving pizza and wanted to see what all the buzz was about. Really nice space. Looks completely different from the old Bado's. Very clean and bright. We went a little after 1:00 on a Saturday, and there was an hour wait for a table. We sat at the counter and got served right away, however. There's also a spacious upper level that isn't being used yet. My wife and I got 2 slices each, and it was some of the best pizza I've ever had. True NY style that the owners brought to town from Brooklyn. Thin and floppy. The upper crust had a bit of char to it and tasted amazing. The mushroom was delicious. It was a white pizza, which I was initially a bit bummed about, but it was perfect. First thing you need to internalize is that this isn't a pizza place. This wants to be a high end destination eatery that happens to serve some pizza. Once you get past that, a lot of the criticisms fall away. No you can't order a pizza your way. No you can't call in an order for pickup, they don't take orders over the phone. No they don't deliver. Yes, there is a high likelihood you won't be able to sit a party of 3+ here just by walking in at any time you are likely to want to eat out. Yes the food prices are unreasonably expensive because it's not a pizza place. The inside is a large improvement from Bados. They've don'e wonderful things to the atmosphere and I enjoy that a great deal. The food is a really mixed bag. When I was able to wait long enough to get a table, the food we ordered vodka pasta, special olives, beans & greens, (non pizza) was amazing. The Mushroom pi I had there was adaquate, and my wife liked it. When I ordered pizza for takeout it was dried out and burnt, and like many other reviews, this overwhelmed what was good about it. The table services was excellent, the greeter was very helpful. The bar service was adaquate. The take out service was uncomfortable, you pay upfront and it follows the trend of having to tip in front of the staff before the order is accepted. As for being Brooklyn pizza, they do have a couple of restaurants in NYC. My family who lives in Brooklyn isn't familiar with them, but it's a big city. Upon sitting down, you're immediately greeted with a bottle of Calabrian chili oil, which adds the perfect punch to any of their dishes. It's a great little touch that shows their attention to detail. As for starters, you can't go wrong with the Roasted Peppers and Burrata or the Gigante Beans and Greens - both are delicious! the Vodka Rigatoni Stracciatella is a must-try. The whipped cheese in the dish is next-level creamy, and the flavors come together in the best way. But the real star here is the pizza. I tried the Guanciale & Leek Pie, and it was incredible - perfectly cooked dough, balanced toppings, and an explosion of flavor in every bite. We had planned to go to this new pizzeria with friends several weeks ago . We showed up at Five on a Tuesday night expecting to easily get a seat, but there was already a line outside . Only those with reservations were able to get a table. Subsequently I returned to pick up a pizza to go last week and both my wife and I really enjoyed It . We also ordered the "Giant " green salad. I was disappointed with the salad which cost $16 . It was just lettuce. It was like what you buy at the grocery store in a plastic container- no tomatoes, no cheese no carrots, no radishes nothing but green lettuce and a small container of dressing. The owner's father I was told has a pizzeria in Brooklyn, New York and uses the same ingredients at this new location, in Pittsburgh. I recommend F&F for pizza along with Badamo in Dormont and Il Pizziola in downtown Mount Lebanon. All three restaurants have a different take on their pizza and all are excellent. There is a small bar and seats for those who order only slices along with table seating. The restaurant is family friendly and busy so I recommend a reservation if you plan to go. If you plan to get a pizza "to go " unfortunately they do not take telephone orders and only will allow you to order " to go " if you come into the restaurant. However it's not really a huge inconvenience because the pizzas ( from my experience ) are cooked within 15 minutes. read more
