A nice luxurious spa in Chinatown! I walked past them and decided to give them a go. The spot is decorated so nicely, it feels very relaxing. I got the deep cleansing pore facial ($139) and my esthetician Ada was very thorough and gentle with the extractions. The whole facial was 2 hours and she gave me a nice lengthy massage. The only thing that bothered me was the door was left opened the entire facial, except for the mask portion (the end). It's pricier than most spots in Chinatown and while it's a good quality facial, I personally didn't see an astounding difference that would encourage me to pay triple the price--I paid $171 with tip total. This spa came highly recommended from a friend. While the facial was pretty good, at one point the technician said she wanted to pluck a few stray hairs on my eyebrows, I said OK but she then started shaving and reshaping my eyebrows into a thin arch which I absolutely did not want and does not look good. I left crying. I had paid a lot of money for my eyebrows to be shaped the way they were and I was really upset. The manager was no help at all. I even sent them pictures. Be aware that the facial does NOT include any treatments. I chose a treatment for hydration which worth for $155. The entire $155 treatment including 5 steps but they basically just clean and apply products which you could easily do it at home. They would just leave you there without any services between each product. Our two technicians were chitchatting the entire time, leaving for phone calls and getting products which they should've done it before our treatments. They were being so loud while we were being left in the room without even bothering to close the door for us. I told them that I was unhappy with their services before my treatment was even finished. I was being told that was supposed to be how it was bc they were under staffed. I got to talk to their manager over the phone at the end but still being asked to pay for the products that were used on us. Save your some troubles. I have been going here for years and even though I don't live in NYC I come every time I visit and they remember me even though it's only once or twice a year. This is a brand new location and it is beautiful. They have private rooms which they didn't have before so it is more of a spa. The facials take about an hour and a half and my face feels great afterwards. They take COVID seriously so you will have to wear little booties and get sanitized when you come in. Except for a gym membership, I have never committed to an establishment during my 10 years of living in the city until I experienced the 90 min cleansing facial at Face II, and now I have a 10-pack of facials with them. Every aspect of my visit was impressive, especially the cleanliness and Covid considerations. I had Ann for my first visit, and she gave me an analysis of my skin and advice on my skincare routine at home to address my concerns. Extractions always suck, but it was worth it because she gave me the smoothest t-zone I've had in years. She also gave me one of the deepest shoulder massages of my life. I could feel tension leaving from areas I didn't even realize existed. The 10-pack is shareable, so I brought my husband with me for my second visit and everything was just as wonderful as my first visit. I remember coming here a couple years ago and absolutely loving the results of the basic cleansing facial. However, I spent way more (cleansing facial +$135: RF Face Treatment) and came out with worse looking skin. My aesthetician was Ada. For the cleansing facial, it essentially consists of a manual facial massage with steam, extractions, and a cold mask afterwards. EXTRACTIONS: These left horrible RED marks and she PEELED off my skin! I know it's going to leave an ugly scab too. They did not hurt, though I self admittedly have a high pain threshold. She kept picking at my chin with the extraction tool and squeezing with her fingers for what felt like eternity. Later, I realized she recruited her coworker to help too because she couldn't clean the clogged pore. RF Face Treatment ($135): I spontaneously felt like splurging and chose this one. Apparently it was supposed to stimulate collagen, reduce fine lines, and lift the skin. She smeared a cold "collagen gel" all over my face and rubbed some probe all over my face. It didn't hurt, it literally just reminded me of getting an ultrasound over your abdomen (with the gel and everything). This made absolutely no difference in my skin. NOISE: Polar opposite of relaxing. Last time, sound wasn't as much of an issue. Honestly, I don't expect it to be completely quiet if you're sharing a room with 3 other clients. However, they literally had their whining kids in the waiting room (adjacent to the facial room). At some point, it sounded like there was 5 people talking really loudly and laughing. You'd think the workers would tell them to take the conversation outside but they didn't. TIPPING: Since she spent a good 2 hours, I gave a pretty nice tip. I also was somewhat considering to come back, so I didn't want to leave a bad image. This was BEFORE I saw what my face actually looked like- I didn't really get a good look immediately after since their bathroom was a little dark and my boyfriend had been waiting for me (thought it'd only be 1.5 hrs). If I knew how it really looked, I definitely would have given less and made a complaint to them. ALSO, Ada gave me a look and asked for more. I caved under that pressure and increasing my already generous tip and she made a disappointed face. Super tacky, and just added to an overall negative experience. Oh, and when I came out of the "spa", my boyfriend saw sunscreen smudges on my face in areas they didn't fully rub in and had to do it for me. It was super easy making an appointment on the phone and I did not have any problem whatsoever using the yelp deal when I got there. When I first arrived, I was directed to the bathroom where I can change into the towel they provided. I don't remember the name of the woman who did my facial (Lucy?), she was very nice and gentle. Before she started she asked me which facial I wanted to do and let me take a look at a list of different facials with the prices. I just chose the one that said $65, guessing it is the yelp deal facial. She started with steaming, cleansing, extractions, more cleansing, moisturizing and massage. I went around mother's day so they gave me a complementary moisturizing facial mask near the end. The only reason why I took one star off is that she did try to sell me more facials at the end of the session. I don't usually do facials often or even have the time to so I told her that and she stop pushing me immediately. I do suggest giving the yelp deal facial a try! I thought it was a steal. However, you should know that it isn't a expensive spa so you will be close to other people getting facials and the ladies working there do talk to each other in Chinese throughout your session. I know a good facial, and unfortunately the only noteworthy facial I've ever had was overseas in Jerusalem. Nothing else compares after you have a facial there, that is until you come to Face to Face Skin Care. I arrived on time for an afternoon appointment with Coco, and was immediately greeted by a nice woman who took me to the back to change into a robe and then I was directed to the facial bed that I would lay in for the next 2.5 hours. Coco was finishing up another client, and told me she would be with me shortly. We started 15 minutes later, and my oh my, what a relaxing day it was. You get massaged like never before including your arms and shoulders. I've never gotten my face massaged so nicely, and felt points on my face that I've never felt before. They do not skimp out on the massage either, this goes on for about 20-25 minutes. Coco offered an upgrade to a peel for an additional $38 for my dry skin. I accepted the offer and although this felt great, it was just one mask that was on my face for 10 minutes, and then that was the upgrade. Compared to the rest of the work you are getting, it doesn't make sense to charge for that much for such a small upgrade. Next time I will get the facial without the upgrade to see if it makes much of a difference. Extractions: YES YES YES! Coco squeezed every single black head out of my face. It does hurt, but you will love it after. I hate places that will only do a few extractions and not do the entire face. The best part was the final mask, it is a dense, molten-like mask that dries on your face. I checked my phone before this mask was applied; 2:38pm, apparently I fell asleep because I woke up to Coco at 3:11pm removing the mask. AHMAZINGGGGG... My skin is hydrated and just feels and looks wonderful. I wish we had places like this in Cleveland or Buffalo. I will be back the next time I'm in the city. *** You should know that you are in a room with about 3 other people getting facials at the same time. I was randomly having a spa day in Chinatown and decided to look up some reviews on Yelp for a facial that wasn't too expensive. Yelp reviewers thank you because you were spot on about this place! They were closing in an hour and I didn't think they would have time but they welcomed me with open arms. Ana even stayed late and closed up after I left. That's great customer service! The facial itself started with a 10 minute mask, then came the steam. After she used a facial pore and pimple extraction tool to go to work on my face! I found out that these are also called a blemish extractor. She proceeded to clean my face some more, massage my neck, shoulders and face and lathered on a 20 minute refreshing and thick white mask. I was in facial heaven! Yes, my face had some slight red marks after but not as bad as everyone else described. I was still able to go out that night and the next day. I didn't have to run and hide out sunglasses and a hoodie in public. No thanks! I think it pretty much depends on how much work someone's face needs. I have pretty clear skin and a pimple here and there, so this facial was just what I needed! I would highly recommend this place! This is my go-to place for a facial in NYC. I've gone twice in the past two months, and I recently bought a pack of five facials to use in the near-term. I usually call a few hours before my facial to finalize an appointment time - they're super accommodating for last-minute requests. The first time I came here, I initially purchased the yelp deal ($30 for a $65 facial). I'm a sucker for all of the facial add-ons, so I ended up spending a little bit more once I got to the site. Regardless, I felt like I was really getting my money's worth. The staff is always extremely attentive when its comes to extracting my black/whiteheads. I have a lot around my nose and forehead, and they usually do a good job minimizing the pain. My favorite part of the facial is the massage that accompanies one of the masks. It's so relaxing, I usually fall asleep. Overall, I think this is a great place to visit every few weeks. I always leave refreshed with clear and soft skin. read more

The spa is a cute small but clean place. I was lucky that my girlfriend and I were able to get the room in the back for two because the rest of the beds are in a common room. Not a big fan of that, glad we had some sort of privacy. The facial was thorough and detailed. For the price it was definitely worth it. However, my facial started with cleansing and the beautician got it in my eyes which was a really bad start. It is pretty noisy since everyone speaks very loud and there's not much privacy. I would've given it a 4 star for the facial but the lady Ivy kept on going back and forth between me and another client which just makes me feel like she's just leaving me there to hang. Also when I got home I saw unusual bloody spots on my chest, had no idea how it got there. Overall, it was a pretty good facial. The neck massage is a bit on the rough side. So, beware. Mediocre facial. Extractions are rushed and they are very aggressive with pushing on your head and body. Also- Do not come here wearing flip flops! They used to spray the bottom of your shoe with alcohol but now they have covers which are great sanitation wise but really slippery and the floor was wet both before and after my facial. I saw a young girl fall so I knew to be careful but it was a little weird and then they kept pushing me to buy a ten pack. I'll be honest. The facial here is not for the faint of heart. This was my first big girl facial, complete with extractions. It's been something that I, with my love of Biore strips and weird metal face tools you find at Target, had been meaning to do for quite some time but just never got around to. The whole thing was pretty straightforward. I got the $30 Yelp deal and that is some serious value for money. Yeah, you're laid out in a room that holds three or four other little stations, but that didn't bother me. I was there to take care of business, so what did a little loss of privacy bother me? There was only one other girl when I went anyways -- midday, midweek. That's probably the best time to go, if you can manage it. I'm not sure if this is standard during peak hours, but my esthetician was able to take her time with me. I was there for over three and a half hours, which I thought was pretty impressive! My face was mega-congested when I went in, considering I've gone 24 years without any professional interference. Since there was so much, the extractions took forever. And it hurt a LOT. I was *horrified* when I looked in the mirror when I got up for a bathroom break post-extractions/pre-calm down. My entire face was blotchy and stricken, almost as if someone had been poking at it with metal instruments for a few hours -- oh. Wait. My esthetician did a little more magic after the extractions to help calm it down, but I was still pretty blotchy when I left the salon. And the next day, I was a scabby, sad mess. But a few days afterward, I had the freshest skin since before the horrors of high school. It's been a few weeks now and my complexion is still looking fantastic! Would I recommend going if you have a hot date the following day? Absolutely not, unless you're into the blotchy pin-pricked look. But if you're in dire need of a deep clean on the cheap and a high tolerance for pain, this would be my go-to. I'm planning on going back in a month or two for another touch up. Come here if you want a good facial with extractions for an absolute great price. My facial was 1.5 hours for $30.00. You cannot beat that. I got a same day appointment for my friend and I with no problem. When you walk in the beds are laid out right next to one another. They also have a room so if you need privacy you can request it. They give you a towel robe to change into so you're comfortable. They also wash your face thoroughly before starting. I opted for the classic facial which starts with a ten minute mask followed by steam. Your face gets massaged in ways I never knew possible. They also massage your shoulders and neck incredibly strong. After the steam and mask they start with the blemish extraction. ** this part does hurt so beware** they literally extract all the dirt out of your pores. Once done they clean and seal it with some weird UV tool. ** this does not hurt** your face gets cleaned, massaged more and more shoulder massage! Lastly your face gets applied with a 20 minute mask. The mask was amazing! When you finish your face isn't automatically glowing. Keep in mind they just went to work and extracted all that nasty stuff. However, once you get home and the redness is gone your face is flowing. I highly recommend this spot. read more

I was at first attracted by the Yelp deal, which was meant for the regular facial, but I was able to subtract the same amount saved ($35) from mine. The facials, as others have mentioned, are not timed; mine lasted two hours. It also included a neck and shoulder massage as well as eyebrow-plucking. I absolutely love my results. I have always had problems with acne and acne scars (recently mostly whiteheads and a couple of bumps here and there). But after my facial, I was so happy to find my skin feeling smooth and soft. I knew going in that I would be sharing a room with others, that light chatter would continuously go on in the background, and that I wouldn't be receiving a spa-like experience....but even after knowing all of that I still give this place 2 stars. They get 2 because my skin was glowing after, but there was nothing enjoyable about the experience. First of all I laid down and waited for 10 min (there was a wall clock beside me) before my esthetician even showed up. When she did she did not introduce herself, explain the steps, or even acknowledge me. She quickly applied a what-was-supposed-to-be 10 min masked that stayed on for 20 min. The girl next to me seemed to have the same experience, but unlike me, requested answers. Once the mask came off, the woman told me I have bad sun damage and that I needed an added $50 treatment to which she pointed to a menu in Chinese (with no explanation). I hate when this happens and avoid salons that handle upselling poorly. Next came the massage. Talk about aggressive and painful! I was sore for days and I'm usually fine with medium to hard pressure massages. The whole experience was poor. It was anything but relaxing and the service was nowhere good enough to return. I was able to make a day-of appointment (great!), but will not be making future appointments. You share a room with several other people which is fine for $30, but the lady performing my facial (CoCo) rushed through the moisturizing process in an aggressive way, and then tore my face apart with something sharp during the extraction process. When I left, I had bloody spots on my face that took a week to disappear. I went in with clear skin and came out with a messy face. The room was also very chatty-not relaxing at all. Then she dared to try to upscale me during the check-out process. I'm really glad I found this place via yelp. My esthetician Coco knew my issue right away and confirmed that my skin is very dehydrated. She explained I need to repair my moisture barrier (I had done some of my own research about skin care) and everything she said was spot on. She recommended the microdermabrasion and she did that first. She was very thorough! After that, she did the usual steaming, cleansing, etc. Extractions were thorough! She also tweezed and shaped my eyebrows, which was totally unexpected for a facial! I was really happy how they turned out! During the facial, she was asking what products I was currently using and she told me I was using the wrong products that was too drying for my skin. She recommended the product line she was using for my facial -- GM Collins -- and suggested I use her recommendations instead (which turns out is meant for dehydrated skin). She also threw in some samples of eye cream. When she finished with the cold mask, yes, my face was red and blotchy from the extractions, but I could tell my skin was hydrated and glowing! Super cool experience at Face To Face Skin Care. Got a Yelp Coupon for a facial, it was very easy to set up an appointment that same week on a Saturday early afternoon. Coco is the facialist who took care of me and did an amazing job. I arrived there at 1pm and was taken care of immediately. From scrubing to steaming to extraction - everything was done perfectly and with the greatest care. The treatment lasted 2 hours with a final mask that put me to sleep! The atmosphere is really relaxing, even if you're next to other people getting facials, everyone is super calm and enjoying their treatments. I was concerned at first since I have a very (very!) sensitive skin and get allergies all the time to new skincare that it would be risky but my skin has never felt softer and brighter than after this facial. (showed up 10 min early) Got the $35 facial She tried really really hard to upsell me, I get it, it's your job, but you suck shit at upselling, drop it after the third "no thanks, maybe next time) Facial wasn't anything special; basically it was more of a massage with stuff they put on your face. The extraction part hurt like hell (I have a high pain tolerance and got ready eyed) whatever tool was used on my face was shaped and pointy, and she didn't even get everything out cause I ended up going home and using pore strips to finish what she couldn't complete. She then used some thick mask and let it sit on my face for 20 min, when she pulled it off, it just felt like a thick piece of rubber and I didn't feel any diff. Last but not least, the moisturizer she used to complete the facial wasn't rubbed in fully absorbed so when I opened my eyes they burned like hell and had to wipe the goo off. Upon leaving, I asked for a business card after I paid, after slipping the card into my purse she said the tip was not included and handed me an envelope - I was going to generously tip her $15 but after she said that and gave me an envelope as if she were entitled to a tip for a shitty facial. This is tacky, don't ASK for a tip, you are not ENTITLED to one, and BECAUSE you asked, I gave less than what I was initially going to. My aesthetician was Ann, she was very nice and made great suggestions according to my skin type and sold me on a few of their products as well. Ann did a really good job at extracting my pores although that was a super painful process for me. I stopped in here because of a suggestion from a friend and the yelp deal. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. Its not exactly a spa experience, but a good option for the money. The main issue I had with this place is that they used a extraction tool. I always usually just get finger extractions.. Although very throrough, it is painful and left bumps. Although I've only checked-in 8 times here at this time of writing this review, I've been going to Face to Face every three weeks for the last two years. I always go with one of my good friends, Sirena, and make a day of it. Our perfect itinerary is on a weekend, although we've gone on weeknights a few times. If it's on a weekend, we hit up Joy Luck Palace in the morning for some dim sum, then Yaya Tea Garden (check out my review for their teas...so fab) and then mosey on over to Face to Face to get gorgeous. A few things you should know about Face To Face: THE SPACE: They make do with not a lot of room. In total, there are four beds in the main area, with two private rooms in the back (one has a single bed, the other has two beds). Often times, it can get a little noisy with people coming in and out, talking, and the phone ringing. However, I almost never seem to mind and typically end up so relaxed, I fall asleep despite everything going on around me. THE STAFF: My go-to girl is Coco, while my friend Sirena's is Ann. Every aesthetician is different and has their own style -- even when Coco isn't available, it's still a great experience because the experiences are unique but never bad. My Chinese sucks, so I usually speak to the staff in English and although sometimes the communication isn't 100% there, most of the time it's fine. THE PROCESS: Once you go in, you're given a robe to change into and then you lay down on your assigned bed. They cover you with a towel, and if it's colder, they'll ask if you want an extra blanket on top. SUPER COZY. Once you're settled, they first they remove your makeup if you're wearing it. I usually get some sort of specialty treatment package on top of a regular facial (see the next section on price) so usually I begin with a diamond peel or a hydroderm-abrasion treatment (the two are both gentle mechanical exfoliation treatments, using a diamond wand and a water wand, respectively). That goes on for typically around 20 minutes or so. Then follows the face massage, which is HEAVEN and goes on for around 15-20 minutes. A little shoulder massage follows, which is an extra treat. Finally, comes the worst part: extractions. They are incredibly thorough and this part sometimes feels like forever, but typically lasts about 10 minutes. If you opt to do so, they can also trim your eyebrows. A high frequency wand follows to kill bacteria and reduce inflammation. Then finally, a mask follows. They typically let you doze off with the mask on for at least 20 minutes -- sometimes longer. It's always such a relief after such painful extractions. PRODUCTS USED: They use G.M. Collin, a French brand, for most of the treatments. If you like their products used, they are available for sale at the store. THE PRICE: As mentioned, I always get some sort of package deal of a type of microdermabrasion and the regular facial. If you buy packages of 10, they're cheaper. Although it's always a lot of money to cough up, it gives me incentive to be regular about going back every three weeks. On Mother's Day and Thanksgiving, Face to Face usually has specials going on that will offer facial + treatment discounts. You can request to be added to their email list in order to get updates about upcoming deals. Overall, my concern with facials is always whether they're done correctly. After all, they're dealing with a very delicate part of your body. Although I've ended up very red after a facial -- sometimes lasting a day or two -- I've always recovered well and have noticed a significant change in my skin over the years. Although it's not a quiet facial environment, it's so comfortable in every other way. My friend regularly does the body massage treatment in the private single room after our facials. You can purchase packages to receive a discount on those too. I highly recommend checking it out, and I think the Yelp discount is a great way to test the waters. Happy facial-ing! read more
