I am not a casino customer but had always been curious about Fairbanks. Wow, did it exceed expectations! My husband and I went for my birthday. We sat in one of the window booths. It's so private a quiet and you have a view of the river, perfect for a date. I will say, there is a second dining room that looked bright and crowded which would have put a damper on our night, ask for the room where the bar is. My martini was very good. We both had steaks and salads and they were well done, however, the mashed potatoes stole the show. At the end, they gave me a delicious slice of cake for my birthday and a quality cup of coffee. We had two waiters as with any high end steakhouse and there were both very professional and attentive. Great experience all around. read more

Excellent experience. All the food was great, ambiance was warm and service was above and beyond. I had the oysters rockefeller, spinach and cheese, lots of flavor. The lobster bisque was just the right temperature, not too hot, not too cool and delicious. Tomahawk pork chop was the highlight of the meal. Cooked perfectly, full of flavor and the crust was just the right amount of crispy. Our server was great too. Very friendly and attentive even though he had a lot of tables. My mothers pasta came out cold. He not only brought out a new plate of hot pasta, he added two free desserts(it was moms birthday). We will definitely be going back. read more

I'm very picky with steakhouse. My expectations was low since this is a casino restaurant. But I was impressed. 3 star for bread and butter. Would've been perfect if the bread was paired with an olive oil and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. 5 star on fresh oyster. Yum! 4 star on steak, lobster and crab legs. 5 star on garlic mashed potato. So why did I give them a total of 5 star? Because of the server "CATALINA". 5 star on attentiveness 5 star on being pleasant and politeness Would I recommend this? HELL YEAH! Would I come back? Once again Fairbanks outdid themselves. The Head Host, Michelle, is such a sweetheart. She seated my wife and I at a perfect table with a view. Hollywood should be so lucky to have her. We specifically requested Scott as our waiter because he is the BOMB! Such a great personable guy. Remembers all of your preferences, and he is spot on with everything. Given the other options in the area, this place is pretty good. We came here with a party of four, and I was happy with the service. We got seated rather quickly in this restaurant above the casino on a Saturday night; the Mexican place down the street and the Two Brothers restaurant were both completely packed! So, it was nice to be able to come here for a good meal since we were going to the casino anyway. Three out of four got steaks, and I had the seafood pasta. Seafood was clearly not their forte, but they did a great job on the steaks and garlic mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to the perfect medium rare! I would recommend Fairbanks for a good meal before all your gambling needs, or if you're in the area and looking for a good steak. read more

The people that work here are great, very friendly. Although, it took forever for a waiter to come up to us in the beginning, but when she did she was very nice. Manager was also very very nice, taking drinks off our order for a very good and disgusting reason. At first service was slow. But we put our drink order in only to be served spoiled blue cheese olives with our dirty martinis, which was taken off the bill. Food was ok. My salmon was good but not the greatest, and the spinach served with it tasted very bitter. My husband's chicken parmesan looked good, but he couldn't eat it as he was feeling nauseous from the rotten spoiled blue cheese olives we were served. Overall, the ambience was relaxing, especially with it being inside a casino, but the food is disappointing. We will not be back. We should have just gone to the deli for a sandwich. read more

Stopped in for dinner, as my aunt had credit. Her gambling problem pays off sometimes. Started with crab cakes and they were great; minimal fillers. I also ordered the lobster bisque, which was super creamy. My aunt ordered a steak and she gave me a bite. It was melt in your mouth delicious! Her baked potato was the size of my head and loaded with sour cream and bacon. I went with the salmon and a side of mashed potatoes. The salmon filet was huge, enough for leftovers! I made reservations for Valentine's day way ahead of time. i received a call one day before to notify me that they decided to have a price fixed menu and that the price would be $150 per person. Unable to get reservations elsewhere for Valentine dinner and also my anniversary dinner. Very upset that Fairbanks did this and notified me last minute. Every so often I make the 2-hour rush hour trek (burn!) from downtown Chicago to catch a show at the Paramount and I wanted to add a new restaurant to my rotation. After my meal at Fairbanks last night, let's just say that the others have been rotated out. Based on the current Yelp rating (3-stars) I was expecting only so-so, but instead I got so-much! The food and service were excellent. I was dining with a family unit (my sister) and we often share entrees. We don't usually expect much in this regard, just an extra plate or two, but our server Jennifer went the extra mile in bringing out everything separately plated and beautifully presented...salad, appetizer and entrée. We were undecided on an appetizer (fried or sautéed) and Jennifer brought out both! The food... I'm a prime rib guy and this one was right on the money. As I mentioned, our entrees were separately plated and...I'm not kidding...each half was entrée sized. But even better is that beef was perfectly prepared, full of flavor, optimally seasoned and remarkably free of the gristle that's getting increasingly common at other places. Bottom line: For great food and service at a good price, Fairbanks has it covered. Admit it, tweezer food and molecular gastronomy are to impress your friends. Honestly if we didn't have comps we would never go back. The food, decor, service all need so much work. The wine list is horrible, typical Gallo house wines. The menu is boring, small and strange. The food all tastes like nothing was made to order and the bread and butter is even bad. They do have reasonable prices compared to other casino streak houses in the state but it is by far the worst of all. It is worth the drive to go to steakhouse in Elgin. The sign when you walk in SAYS steaks and pasta. I even asked and the waiter said they need to change the sign, they haven't done pasta in years. We still after our $40 comp spent $81 with only one drink. The tables are small and packed in. The wait staff looks like they have been working here forever, great for loyalty but very hard if you are not continually training them on customer service. read more

Had wonderful dinner at Fairbanks last night. It started with Michelle the hostess, she loves what she does and shows in the way she greeted us. She helped my wife and I validate our vouchers we had earned in the casino so that we could relax and enjoy our meal. As she brought us to our table she continued to make us feel welcome like it was her home and we were invited guests. Michelle introduced us to our server Cheryl W. who continued the excellent service throughout the meal. We each ordered a filet and a 1/2 salad and shared a baked potato, and the steaks were cooked perfectly. Even though it was Saturday night we never once felt rushed, each step of the meal came at just the right time. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will be back again soon. This review is only for customer service.. Not for the food since we never actually got to our table to eat. My fiancé made a reservation and we finally were being escorted to a seat 15 min after the reservation even though we saw open tables. While in the lounge no one checked on us to see if we wanted drinks, looked our way etc. finally at the point that we think we are getting seated she asks or name again ( not sure why we waited then, and were the only people waiting ) the hostess is stopped by a patron and walks back toward the hostess area to engage in conversation while we are left standing there idle with no direction to a seat. We had enough so we left, she barely made an attempted to figure out why were were leaving . Pure example of bad customer service . Maybe the food was good.. Maybe it wasn't .. Went here with a family member and his GF - her family was a bunch of high rollers so the meal was complimentary - including the $250 bottle of wine one of the women spilled (then ordered two more). The meal for me was ok, but then again I am a vegetarian in a Steakhouse, more than a salad is impressive. We live in Aurora and are Steakhouse fans. Aurora is the second largest city in Illinois and woefully under-represented when it comes to quality steakhouses. We were hoping this would be a big hit. It wasn't. The hostess first asked if we were paying or using points, which is normal considering it's attached to the casino. I said we were paying and she then took us to a 6 top table when there were several 2 top tables available overlooking the river. I assumed (and I could be wrong) that maybe they were saving those for people who frequently gamble there. It was irritating to me. The décor was a bit dated, but I can live with that. The service was just ok. The drinks were average but nothing to get excited about. Ceasar Salad was over dressed. Steak was actually quite good for both of us, cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Sides were just ok and the desert (turtle cheese cake) seemed like it came right out of the package from a grocery store. We left feeling indifferent, probably won't go back. read more

Went there with some friends a few days ago. Horrible service, our waiter practically ignored us as soon as he learned we got a birthday voucher. Our steak was cold and overcooked. Our waiter NEVER asked us how things were. Our waiter dropped off the check AT THE SAME TIME as the dessert, and when he came to pick up the plates 2 minutes later, he asked if the check was ready. Then kept coming back every 2 minutes to check on the check. As soon as we paid, we were rushed out of the restaurant and there were empty tables around us! In short, this place gets 1 star b/c the valet was courteous! read more

There were some pluses. The tables have adequate space around them. The view was nice before the sun set. And the service was pretty good. However the prices were very high. I don't eat in high end steak houses. Once or twice a year when I get that urge I go to Tom's in maybe Melrose Park. So I can't judge the fairness of their steak prices. But they charge $10 for a glass of mediocre wine. And this is a place out in the boondocks - not downtown Chicago or New York. My wife reported that her fillet was good. And she liked the side of sweet potatoes - and as others report, large serving. My pasta dish, Tuscan Nicole Penne also had a large serving, but was disappointing. There was a lot of pasta, some chicken and very little sauce. I don't recall having such a dry pasta dish. Like some other reviewers, I was going to an event at the Paramount Theatre. I have a tip if you do this. Do not park with the valet parkers. When the event is over you could have a very long wait for your car. Go to the self parking garage. For us non-gamblers they charge only $4 for parking. (Gamblers are free parking.) Also try to park on the lowest level possible so you can get out faster. read more

First of all, the food was excellent, service was a bit pushy. My lovely Girlfriend and I had reservations that I had made about a week and a half prier. We arrived​ on time, we were seated promptly, however​, for having a reservation we were seated at a very small table on the main walkway to the kitchen, unexceptable for having reservations. I asked the very unfriendly hostess if we could sit at any of the many empty tables, no there are already taken. The server was all over us about drinks and appetizers before we even had a chance to look at the menu, we did finally order drinks, I had a dirty Martini, it was terrible, the glass was about half full, not even a full pour. I then had a melon ball, also not to good, I then had a CC and 7up that was a good drink. My girlfriend had wine which she liked a lot. When I told the server the drinks were not too good, her only response was "oh really?" So I'm really not sure I would go back to this place, we had a 150.00 check, I think I would rather spend that money somewhere else. read more

First of all, I have to say hats off to Aurora. The downtown area has really come along way from what it was just 5 - 10 years ago. I totally feel safe and the city's efforts to beautify the downtown really paid off. I came in from downtown Chicago for a night at the Paramount and had dinner at Fairbanks before the show. Very nice experience on a Saturday night. Oysters Rockefeller was the best I have had in 20 years. Steak Medallions meal was very good and cooked perfectly. For me, the dining experience was very reminicint to times I was out for fine dining with my parents in the 1970's, when I was much younger. I mean that in a very good way and not that the restaurant is dated either. For the Hipster, you will not find "fushion" food served here. Service was excellent. I will be back again! read more
