An unsuspecting Turkish bakery right in our back yard. As stated by all, this place is truly a gem. Their Turkish coffee is fantastic (and served with a little treat). Their bagels, while not quite to NY level, are some of the best you will find in NoVA, and I think the best in Fairfax. It was busy when we came on a Sunday morning, and it took about 10 minutes for our order to be ready. My husband also got one of the breakfast sandwiches on a bagel and the omelets portion was fantastic. It surprises me that somewhere so delicious is located unassumingly in Fairfax. There's mention of vegan here so I stopped in to check it out. There's no vegan baked items (although they did say they could make gluten free upon request) but the owner was so nice I decided to stay and try out a few items. I started with the $5 baklava special and then added a hummus pita after realizing I was hungrier than I thought. The pita was ok - the veggies were very fresh and crisp - but the winner of the visit was that baklava platter. Maybe it was because the coffee was truly Turkish. Maybe it was the thoughtful glass of water. Maybe it was the deliciously unexpected piece of jelly dessert that was on the platter next to the baklava. When I say value, what I mean is, the prices, quality and amount of food you get it's like I stepped into a time warp two to three decades back. The food is delicious and probably the best Turkish/Mediterranean baked items I've had anywhere and they are all made in-house, morning of. It reminded me of a happier time in Istanbul. I recommend the breakfast platter because it includes a Turkish tea and because it is a good value for the money. I also recommend the pastries for their artistic value (e.g. chocolate muffin with cranberries). The eggs and frank are delicious. The olives are more flavorful as they have seeds. Unfortunately, My Favorite Muffin is no more, as the previous owner sold the business to other people. As a result they are not part of the My Favorite Muffin corporation, but the muffins are still similar to what you would expect to see at a My Favorite Muffin cafe. The new cafe may not have the punch card this one had, but the service is better! I was greeted by a cute George Mason University student who could not have been more knowledgeable and helpful concerning what I wanted. Yes, I love muffins. I got a full box of nine to go, plus a banana. All the muffins look plump, fresh, and cooked to perfection. No attacking the previous ownership, but while I loved their muffins, once you ate the tops, the "stumps", or the bottom portion of the muffin, was hit or miss when it came to how done it looked. I just ate two of them, their Oreo and Blueberry flavor. The Oreo is fantastic! Chunks of Oreo cookie in every bite. The Blueberry one was decent, but a bit too dense and rich in the fruit. Maybe this one is one to avoid next time. There is more to be tried, but I can tell they are going to be fun to eat over and over again. Hooray for good muffins! Man, I'm so glad I found this place! This place is so underrated and needs more exposure! The bakery is located in the corner of a big shopping center that's overwhelmed by other big names restaurants. But this one is a gem, in my opinion. Their pastries looked absolutely enticing and they got these specialty muffins - we wanted to get the Boston creme muffin but they ran out! This restaurant is Turkish based and it was delicious. They have these cute little baklavas, and they have a bigger sized baklava that's a little bit more expensive. And they have savory pastries that are usually filled with spinach and feta, as well as this sweet pastry filled with Nutella. I decided to try their Turkish coffee, which is only served in a 3oz cup (so almost like a shot!). I was very impressed! I had different expectations but it blew my mind how good it was. I love this little Mediterranean bakery! We came in for a coffee and ended up grabbing some breakfast because the pastries just looked so good. I ended up getting the eggs, spinach and feta in a breakfast pita while the boyfriend got a croissant Southern sandwich. We also ended up splitting the ribeye pastry, which was also delicious. Immediately what you're going to notice upon walking in, other than the lovely display case, are the wonderful ladies that work behind the counter. We came in for some pastries and Turkish coffee, and we were (for the most part) not disappointed. The coffee was strong and a bit sweet, but the tea was pretty indistinguishable from your standard black tea. The Nutella acma was really good, and basically exactly what you would expect from a sweet pastry filled with Nutella. The paskalya was also really good - we originally thought it would be filled, but the fact that it wasn't didn't make it less delicious. The tahini roll was too sweet for my partner, but I thought it was nice. The chocolate croissant was disappointing - it wasn't really flaky or buttery. Overall, we're definitely planning to come back, if for no other reason than to try the baklava. read more

I've come here a couple times in the past few weeks! It's a small local family owned joint that specialize in jumbo muffins, and Turkish baked goods. Here's my honest review based on my experience! -The baklava is too wet and sweet for my liking - the Nutella Acne was good! tastes like a cross bw bagel, croissant & brioche! The outside is brushed and baked w egg so it glistens. It has this dense yet tender crisp to the outer shell, but has the chew of a cross bw brioche and bagel, intertwined with ribbons of Nutella. It is not as indulgent and filled as preferred, but still good -muffins-- not all muffins are created equal. I enjoyed the blueberry cheesecake most! I've also tried lemon poppy, triple chocolate & chocolate brownie, al of which had artificial aftertastes. Textures are pretty moist! But not as buttery as I like them to be. Fairfax Bakery is a Turkish bakery that has many different baked goods and turkish delicacies and eats. It is not a very big place, but the owners are very friendly and wiling to help. We have been there a few times and have enjoyed the muffins, croissants and other baked goods. We have not tried the Turkish options as of yet, maybe some time in the future. They do offer discounts of 10% for checking in with Yelp and many other services for discounts. Just ask them, they are willing to be of assistance. This cute, unpretentiously decorated shop is welcoming from the moment you open the door. Even before I step inside, the mouth-watering aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries wafts out into the walkway and draws me in Pepe Le Pew style. As I walk through the door, I'm greeted by a display of colorful cups and saucers (for sale if you want to have Turkish coffee in style at home) and a brief whiff of ground coffee beans that combines beautifully with the pervasive perfume of toasted bread and sweet pastries. Sometimes I wish I could bottle that scent up and fill my own kitchen with it. The menu consists of sweet and savory options, real tea, coffee, and Turkish coffee, and a bounty of everything from cookies to bagels to muffins to danishes-- all freshly made. The kids love the steak, egg and cheese bagel sandwich and the blueberry and chocolate chip muffins. For a gluten-free option, I go with the steak, egg, and cheese sans bagel and a Turkish coffee. The bakery also features sodas from the fountain and bottled juices. Seating is simple, functional, and uncluttered with small flowers on each table. I've actually been here a couple of years ago but made the mistake of getting a muffin and not going for something more delectable. The menu is a nice flare if American/greek/Turkish flavors and I had a hard time choosing. Since I was already craving a ham and cheese, I went with that, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. This is one colossal sammich! The egg was cooked perfectly; crossing toasty and flakey; and the ham was delicious. Normally I complain that portion sizes are oversized but not this. Happened to stumble across this place accidentally while helping one of my friends move , we walked in and honestly didn't expect much, but we were pleasantly surprised with how tasty our brunch was. I placed an order for our office today early morning with Fairfax Bakery for bagels. I put in my order for a few cinnamon bagels and one plain, but when I got there, first, my order wasn't ready even though it was placed an hour and more before pick up time. Second, they just put the bagels in the bag and handed them to me, which when I got to office, I saw they put wrong bagels for me.
