Tis a shame my favorite mechanics moved back to NYC, but still can recommend this service station. They've been honest, and I still go here occasionally. There's no real convenience store to speak of, as they have limited selections. You might find the coffee from the 1980's. Yet if you can get in and out of here, definitely be forewarned about city traffic. Prices for gas aren't as competitive as they could be. There are other nearby stations, that are significantly less. I'm sure there's reason for their prices, but in any era I'll go where it's less. They do occasionally have awards with a credit card I use, so I do fill up here, although space is tight. Also being at the circle, be careful when rolling out. read more

I am from Buffalo NY and was in town because my nephew was in a horrible motorcycle accident and didn't make it through but my car broke down and we had the car towed there from chickfilet just before 5 pm when they close. Took care of the starter first thing the next day, checked everything else on the car to make sure it was nothing else but the starter (which was all it was) didn't overcharge me and my car was ready to go by 1045 am that morning. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CAR! Too bad you can't give a zero. I took my car in for an oil change and the state inspection. Before dropping it off I did a walk around, normally I take pictures. However I was in a hurry so I skipped this. I asked for an estimate when I filled out the paperwork since I noticed that numbers were conspicuously absent. The quote he gave me was very vague but I understood that the range was 40-60. He said the car would be done in an hour, this was at 9:30. I told him I'd be back at one. At 1:50 when I got back late, the first thing I noticed was that the car was still in the shop. The guy said he was finishing up and to head for the office to do the papers. There I was informed a blinker was out and taken back to the garage to see which one. He showed me the right side blinker, but all I saw were the three by two foot area of scratches. These weren't even clear coat scratches some went down to the metal! I asked them about this because they were NOT there when I dropped the car off and the guy said 'oh, they were there. You can wait in the office.' At which point I stayed and took pictures. Seeing this he immediately pulled the car out of the garage. But I had no proof. So I went to pay. At the register, to add insult to injury, the guy reaffirmed the scratches were there and insinuated that I didn't notice. Excuse me! My car is my Baby! I would have noticed gauge marks running from the front bumper to the back door!!! Now I'm so angry I'll pay anything just to leave. Which is when I'm told that the quote this man gave me earlier is woefully short. It is 85 dollars and they charge for two hours of labor even though they said it would only take an hour. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CAR! They ought to pay for the body work! Or at least for the paint since I'm so broke I'm going to have to do the work myself. read more

I was having a horrible day, and ending it with a flat tire was enough to make me have a mental breakdown. It was after the garage itself closed, but it was my good fortune that Del was working behind the counter in the store part. I was trying not to cry (and failing miserably) when I went in to ask if he could change out my tire and put on a spare, because I have no idea how. Not only did he say he would, he ended up opening up the garage portion so he could try to fix my tire for me. I went in for an oil change because the price was cheap and I live very close. Everyone was really nice and I was taken care of immediately. There was an oriental mechanic there assigned to change the oil. While he was working on my car, one of the employees at the register came over and said it looks like I have an oil leak but they can't look at it right now because they are busy. Finished my oil change, paid and left. The next day, sure enough, there was a puddle of oil under the car. This time I took my car to my trusted mechanic in Chantilly. Upon inspection, it turned out the oil leak was due to the guy at Shell not putting the gasket on the filter. My mechanic put in the gasket and the leak was gone. Weird because one of the Shell employees said I had an oil leak before my oil change was done. I should have taken the car to my trusted mechanic in the first place even if it was just an oil change. I won't be coming back to Shell. read more

In the area from out of town, picking up a friend at the Vienna Metro station, when our battery died. Called this service station as it appeared the closest that offered jump start service. I ended up canceling the jump as their guy was on his way, since a passerby could give us a jump. After the car was running, we headed to this station anyway as Del said he would give our battery a free check, and if need be could sell us a battery. Del is the best in customer service. SUPER FRIENDLY, nice, and seems to really care about his customers. We were blown away by his amazing customer service. The battery test revealed that battery was on its death bed. Not wanting to risk any more problems or ruin our night if the vehicle didn't start again after dinner, we bought a new battery. Del and his staff installed the battery and made us comfortable in their waiting area, offering us free coffee and candies. I have never been happier writing a very positive review for a business that truly deserves it. If every business had the work ethic, positive attitude, and wonderful customer service like this station, the world would truly be a better place. Thank you Del. You deserve these compliments.
