First time buying a used vehicle from a dealer. Sales rep, Min Park was super patient, professional, and accommodating through the entire process. I was allowed to test drive the car, and they answered pretty much any questions I had about a vehicle. They also are stationed right next to an auto mechanic shop, so I was able to get an inspection on the vehicle of my choice, with no extra hassle. Given how stressful a car purchase can be, I really couldn't have asked for a smoother, more pleasant experience. WORST CAR BUYER EXPERIENCE EVER... Purchased a BMW X6 4 months ago and still do not have my tags. No one will return my calls. You call the office number, no one answers. Spoke to Eddie, the manager, who said he would help but now does not pick up my calls. Also, the vehicle was sold with a warranty. After taking delivery of the car, I learn it had been performance tuned and my warranty is voided. Eddie at Fairfax said they would give me $1k compensation for the issue but now no one returns my calls when I try to collect. Just bought an older Toyota Rav4. Great experience, so far! Min and Pauline and everyone else were very helpful and flexible. I really appreciated that there was no up-selling, no painful experience where you have to reject a bunch of weird offers before leaving the dealership. It was easy to buy! No surprises! I found ABS Unlimited Auto Repair nearby and asked them to do pre-purchase inspection. Pauline at the dealership was kind enough to drop off and pick up the car from the auto shop. (I am in DC so this saved me a lot of trouble and made me very confident in what I was buying.) The car got a clean bill of health -- except for some very minor stuff the dealer offered to fix, like a window wiper blade replacement. ABS did a great job, too. Took care of almost everything by phone and using a carfinder app. My car was worth nearly $2k more than I paid for it according to the Black Book-listed price. We had a very positive experience with Faheed and decided to buy a 2016 Mercedes GLE 350 from him based largely on this experience as well as Fairfax Motors' reputation. I had gone to several other dealers and test driven many GLE 350's and two other visits were beyond terrible. Faheed was very knowledgeable and friendly, and while he tried to sell me the car, he was not at all pushy or forward. I went for my first test drive with my son. My husband called and spoke with Faheed regarding the price, and we returned a couple of days later so my husband could inspect and drive the car. We also worked with the manager John, who was very professional and kind. We were able to agree on a reasonable price for a beautiful car. The paperwork was done efficiently and easily. Ugh. I maybe should have paid attention to the terrible reviews it got when I googled it. But, I was too in love with the car that I saw online and thought that I should take a look. The car buying process itself wasn't that bad, and I actually got a good deal. But, anytime the dealership hurts your credit score and report in a negative way, out comes the 1 star rating. I had traded in a vehicle, and they were late in paying it off, causing some negative action on my credit report. It's currently being sorted out right now, but it has become a gigantic hassle. I'd say save yourself the hassle and just go to a legitimate and larger dealership, or find one that has better reviews. read more

I purchased a 2009 Mercedes ML350 from Fairfax Motors. When we initially went to go look at the vehicle we were coming from Germantown, MD after work and got there close to the time they close. They let us test drive the vehicle but before we went on the drive the sales associate said "Don't take too long we are almost closed". This shocked me as the amount of money I was going to drop on this vehicle, in my opinion, warranted a bit more respect from the person who was about to get the commission. If he didn't want the sale he should have just said so and I would have gone somewhere else. I found this comment to be extremely rude considering the time it took me to get there and the price of the vehicle. There was oil on the bottom of the vehicle and my husband asked them to take a second look at it and figure out if there was a leak. They claim they took it to a shop that knew about Euro cars and assured me everything would be alright. When we went to finalize the deal, the price of the vehicle was higher than the price listed online! What the heck?! They tried to "make it better" by offering me 5 detail service for free... but I live in GERMANTOWN, MD! I am not driving all the way to Fairfax to get my car detailed because you didn't put the right price on the internet! A year later and I'v had to replace the rear main seal, the AC does not work, the sunroof module needs to be replaced, the back hatch randomly opens and closes whenever it wants to and the driver window has a mind of it's own. I can't imagine they had no idea about these issues when they sold the vehicle to me and if they genuinely did not know about these issues they need new technicians. I traded in my Jeep Wrangler for the ML350 and when I went back to the dealership to pick up my tags because they refused to mail them to me for some reason and had to make the trek all the way back to Fairfax from Germantown... AGAIN, the same sales associate that sold me the car told me "It took forever to move your old car! but we finally did it!". First off, it was three weeks. That's a pretty good turn around. Second, not my problem. My problem is the faulty vehicle you sold me. I would never purchase another car from here. So I Concur with all the one star reviews below and have also dealt with the con artist referred to as Jimmy and the warranty 30 year sales expert who is about as classless as they come so he can remain nameless. My wife found a car there that she absolutely wanted and the price seemed reasonable so we went to take a look. We test drove and decided to move forward. Jimmy provided us with the car fax and I knew then they had been sitting on it for 4 months. I am a former car salesman from a reputable NOVA family owned dealership mind you so I know how this process works. I knew then the price should be very negiotable as sitting on vehicles cost money and 4 months is quite a while in car sales. Jimmy went ahead and ran our credit saw we were credible and had a sizable down payment. He refused to drop a grand off of the asking price and I wasnt going to let that stop my wife from being happy so I agreed to 750 off and went to talk to the warranty expert. I listened to his speech about how much I needed this warranty knowing that I had no intention of purchasing it. I finally refused it and he made comments insinuating that I made an error, whixh to date, one year later, not the case. The vehicle actually is and was in great shape. Then came the issues. NO PLATES- same as everyone else's comments, temps expired, no emissions, no overnight. TRIED TO TRADE IN- I found a newer larger version similar to that I purchased and called jimmy to inquire about a trade. Jimmy offered me 60% of what I paid 8 months and 12K miles later! The entire car buying process was an ordeal. I experienced most of the things mentioned by other reviewers. Took a test drive a price was discussed. I returned a few days later once my loan was approved waited over two hours only to be given a higher price. I walked out and was called a few days later when the price I had originally requested was met. I thought I was getting a great deal. I had to do my own emissions and call 4 times before I received my plates a day before they expired. I requested the front bumper be repaired as it looked unhinged. The car was kept for an additional 3 days when picked up the car it looked like it was glued (with a white-out looking substance) even-though I was told clips would be replaced and the car was dirty despite me calling the day before the pickup and the morning of (they knew I was on my way). I was so done I just took the car and left since I had already paid for it. After purchase (I should have done this before making payment) I took the car to a dealership to get the oil changed and an overall inspection. The first thing the mechanic pointed out was that the car has been in a collision and was poorly repaired. While there was no report of a crash on the carfax, I still believe Fairfax Motors was aware of collision as the bumper I requested repair was a result of the crash. It will cost me $800 to repair the damage. HAVE ANY CAR INSPECTED BEFORE YOU PURCHASE IT. Lesson learned. read more

Rip Off. They sold me a warranty for over $3000 and then did not honor it. They said the company that backed the warranty went out of business. They sold it to me, I thought the warranty was with them. To try to make it right, they offered to look at my car. Then they told me it had a major oil leak and they wanted thousands to fix it. They need to keep their listings up to date as they spam the internet, craigslist, etc with their listings. They also need to keep their vehicles available for people to view. I had two of their listed vehicles in mind. I showed up there to check them out and neither were available. One was sold a week prior, so they wasted my time by not cleaning up their craigslist ads. The other one was used by the owner on a road trip moving his son into college "it was loaded full of boxes and stuff." That's the owner's prerogative. Update: The review I wrote 2 weeks ago was when I drove from Baltimore to bring my mother to purchase a second vehicle from Fairfax Motors. This time, her experience was entirely different in a negative way from her first. There was a struggle for her to get the full tank of gas she was promised by Faheem, and eventually they settled on something more than half a tank, but less than full. Seems pretty petty to me even if it was a misunderstanding..if it really is about customer service. The bigger issue is that there are a number of basic issues that the car was sold with, in "as is" condition. This is understandable, except for the fact that these issues are basic issues that prevent safe driving from the minute the car is off the lot! Glass scraping windshield wipers & scrapes on the front quarter panel of the body are just what I can remember from my conversation with my mother who has asked me to take her back this weekend so the dealership can complete the repairs. I understand that the car was sold "as is", but this experience just lets you know the kind of car dealer you're working with and that the warm personable feel you get from the salespeople there, is somewhat superficial until upper management becomes involved. On the plus side of things I guess, it sounds like they're willing to make the repairs, although I don't know at what price or what deal if any, that my mother worked out. I recently was in a fender bender and Fairfax Motors was the first business I called. I was referred to Fairfax Motors by my dad, who has interacted with the dealership in the past. He told me I had to go to Andy (the owner). I was not let down. Andy was honest with the estimate for my car, which was notably cheaper than a second opinion I got. I also was having a problem with my tire, and he gave me helpful advise about how to fix it without me having to ask. When the car was returned to me, it looked like they had replaced my whole bumper (which they didn't). None of the previous damage was visible. All of the repairs were done in a timely manner and I had my car back in no time. Four of my family members have bought cars from the dealership. They have never had any problems with any of their cars and I know that they never had any problems with the dealership or the employees. From my experience and their testimony, I know I can safely say that they are honest, reliable, loyal, and fair in their dealings with all of their cars and customers. It's unfortunate to see the poor (and old) reviews below because myself and my family members have never experienced that. I will be back the next time I need something fixed with my car. read more

I purchase a new vehicle every 2-years so I'm VERY tuned in to the process, I'm about the most laid back person you can meet probably to my fault with this experience. This isn't an angry review just a VERY disappointed review in what had the potential to be a good experience given the correct professionalism and attentiveness. The salesman I dealt with (Pat) is a very nice and polite individual but is on the short end of the stick in the area of professionalism and attentiveness when it comes to the customer currently in front of him!! I was there ready and prepared to purchase a $37,000 vehicle, while sitting at Pat's desk he's kept answering the business phone interrupting our conversation (I could understand that if shorthanded), but the truly annoying part was he also kept answering his personal cellphone and texting during our interaction. He told me he had another customer that flew up from Florida and was waiting to purchase a vehicle (OK), he told me people routinely fly in from around the country to by vehicles from Fairfax Motors. He also went on to state he had an additional customer also waiting, I'm sorry I am I interrupting something?? Long story short after crunching numbers (in between all of the interruptions) my next statement really stumped him when I said my primary residence is in Florida and that's where the vehicle needs to be registered. Pat stated he wasn't sure how that would work that he didn't know how to calculate Florida sales tax and came up with a ridiculous amount. I said hold on and went to my vehicle and gave him my paperwork from the transaction on my current vehicle that was purchased in Florida 1-year ago showing how sales tax is calculated, he said he still couldn't figure it out while texting on his phone. There was no desire to find a definitive answer, definitive suggestion or even to sell me a vehicle, I quite honestly was taken back. But wait a minute, Pat just told me he had a customer that just flew up from Florida to purchase a vehicle that was waiting for him (maybe that commission was bigger) so HOW IN THE WORLD would the dealership NOT know how to calculate Florida Sales Tax. Additionally, remembering his statement to me that people fly in from all over to purchase vehicles from Fairfax Motors yet they don't know how to calculate sales tax from another state????? That's when I figured I was in the wrong place, BUYING a vehicle let alone a $37,000 vehicle shouldn't be that difficult and the customer surely shouldn't have to "prod" the salesman to get the deal done as a favor. Being a business owner myself this interaction obviously had a lasting impression, I later said to my wife that if that was an employee that worked for us there would be a come to Jesus meeting about customer service practices and professional strategies when dealing with customers. As a suggestion I make my employees take on-line certification course in the "Art of the Sale" and how it all starts with the "First Impression." Sure I'm from Florida and this won't have an effect on the dealership's bottom line at the end of the day, but it sure is a shame that I felt compelled enough to have to write this rather lengthy review when I'm actually NOT a huge fan of reviews. If I don't like the steak at a particular restaurant I'll turn to my wife and tell her I don't like the steak and don't feel as though I need to write a bad review. As a business owner you are NEVER going to make every customer happy, but good lord this transaction wasn't rocket science and there were NO outlying expectations. Unfortunately in this case I just couldn't let it go, obviously another Virginia/Maryland dealership will end up benefitting from my $37,000 which is all the same to me other than I lost over an hour of my life that I wouldn't mind having back! Living in Florida I have only ever dealt with "branded" car dealerships (BMW, Toyota, Mercedes, etc.) as we don't have nearly as many "stand alone" private dealerships as Virginia and Maryland, so maybe this is normal and I'm the one that's out of my professional element. All that I can attest to considering I have purchased over 21 vehicles in my life is that this is my first TRULY bad experience buying (or attempting to buy in this case) a vehicle, maybe I just need to stick with the branded dealerships, you know what they say it only takes one bad apple to ruin it for everyone! If I could give a zero I would. tldr; If I had not had had my heart set on that specific car, I would have left then and there. 2 months exactly after purchasing it the part they "fixed" for me comes up broken and I know that I should have left. They lied to me repeatedly and were extremely aggressive and rude. This was my first time buying a car and they were not helpful in any way, shape, or form. Full story: I found a car through my bank's car finding service and went to the dealership to check it out. When I first visited everyone was friendly enough, but the salesman I worked with (Pat) tried to feed me excessive amounts of very incorrect information. An example of this would be that he tried to tell me that the tire pressure light was just on because it was hot outside and that it would go off once we started moving. Air expands when hot. Meaning it was not scientifically possible for this to be the correct reasoning for this problem (red flag 1). I ignored it figuring I'd have my mechanic look it over to see what the real problem was if I decided to buy the car. After doing my research I decided that it would be the best possible choice because of the low mileage, good fuel economy, and towing space. My mechanic found a couple of problems with the car including a faulty tire pressure sensor and a singular mismatched tire. The tire frustrated me because Pat had made a big point of saying that it had a full set of new tires (red flag 2). When I told Pat about these issues he said he would be glad to put repairing/replacing parts into the agreement. Now being a little wary about the quality of the vehicle, I asked about negotiating price taking what my mechanic had said into consideration. Pat's response was a very aggressive and very short "I don't tell them how to fix cars and they don't tell me how to price cars." At this point I was glad that I had called him from the mechanic because, being a petite young woman confronted by a larger and very aggressive man, I was literally shaking from the confrontation (red flag number 3). I was afraid to go back to the dealership, but I really wanted the car. When I got in, Pat acted as though nothing had happened over the phone and wrote up the paperwork before sending it over to the financing department. At this point I went outside to activate my insurance on my new car. I had a different set of issues with the insurance company because apparently all of the details that I had set up with them earlier in the week were not saved in the system and what should have been a 10 minute call because a 45 minute call. About 20 minutes in, Pat came out to me to say that it will be my turn in a moment and I should wrap up my call. As I am literally about to hang up the phone, he comes out again and said that I lost my place in line because I took too long. My dad was with me, and he asked if I could have just another minute as I am about to hang up and Pat responded with "I gave her 20 minutes and she's still not ready" (red flag 4). At least at this point I knew that he was rude and aggressive with everyone, not just petite young women. After finally finishing out insurance details, I went to the finance office. Pat, again, acted like nothing had happened when I saw him and I was just glad that I didn't have to work with him anymore. The finance director then very roughly pushed me through all of the contracts and paperwork. Each time I stopped to read the contracts I was signing she would just tell me that it was "a standard document" without going in to any kind of detail (red flag 5). I stood my ground and read them anyway. By the time I left that day I was already dreading coming back to have the promised repairs implemented. When I did return, they had me there for several hours and when I got my car back I learned that they had driven it 15 miles away just for a part that they had led me to believe they had on location. I was furious that they had done this and wasted my gas without informing me, but I was just ready to be done with them. Here I am, 2 months to the day after buying my car, and the tire pressure light is back on. I checked the tire pressure and they are all fine. They had promised to repair the sensor, and now I know that they did not. At least you can't fake a new tire. read more

MY EXPERIENCE AT FAIRFAX MOTORS I had a terrible experience here, they sold us a 2014 Hyundai sonata, they didn't disclose to us that the vehicle has title issues, has structural damages and was being used as a rental car ( carfax didn't show these information neither). Our financing bank did the autocheck and refuse to finance the car because of the above issues. We called them to inform them and fax the autocheck report to Pat, he told us he has settled the issue with our credit union and he will call us back when they get back to him. So we decided to take the car back after 2 days of not hearing from Pat and their financial director telling us she was able to get us approved for the loan(after telling them we don't want to finance the vehicle with them and that they shouldn't run our credit) Patrick Warren is the most rude person i have ever seen in my life, he was actually screaming and yelling at me and told me to shut up when i told him if our credit union is not going to finance the car because of issues with the car, that we don't want the car. He lied that they were told that we were not approved for the loan and all he want is his check(money). They were trying to force us to finance with them P.S The vehicle has open recalls and they refuse to get it fixed before trying to sell it. I don't trust these people anymore!!! read more

I see some older bad reviews... I have to say my experience was excellent. Zack was awesome. I pit my vehicle on consignment and it sold in a week I got more than every dealer quoted me including carmax. I will also take a moment to talk about other experience koons low balled an offer by 10k thinking when I bought my vehicle I had to sell the old one... then they acted like I insulted them not taking it. My husband had been searching for a Ford Raptor for a while and narrowed his decision down to two separate vehicles at two separate dealerships. One was a 2017 (FairfaxMotors) and the other was a 2018. The prices were a difference of $6,000. He had already test driven the newer Raptor at the other Ford dealership and wanted to test drive this current truck at Fairfax Motors. He had been in contact with a Fairfax Motors salesman by the name of JC the week prior and he was also there today. JC informed us right away that a "man from Africa wants to purchase this truck and ship it there" I do not know the significance of that statement, but he handed us the keys for us to "check it out" and he walked away and went back into the office. We examined the truck inside and out and once we were done we entered the office again to request a test drive. JC informed us that their "manager does not allow test drives unless customers are buying the truck that day". So, you expect customers to give you a check and then test drive a used $62,800 vehicle? I am a strong believer that we have gut feelings for a good reason and my gut let us know that Fairfax Motors did NOT want our business. There were NO other provisions or explanations by the salesman other than, "sorry guys I hope you don't take it personal". I could understand if it were a Ferrari or something, but come on!!! At that time we thanked the salesman and informed him that they just made the decision a no brainer for us I guess Fairfax Motors preferred to snub us than sell to us! I write this review as we are signing for our new Raptor from Ourisman Ford Alexandria where they have impeccable Customer Service! Take your money where you are valued as a customer! SHADY DEALER I won an item on eBay after contacting dealership Mr. Jon I quote "are you crazy We are not selling this vehicle at this low price" They went ahead and canceled the item after I won fair and square. Apparently, someone at dealership forgot to set a reserve price, My question is how it is my fault and what about those 41 people who were bidding at the same car. I have been trying to communicate via emails, texts & phone calls now for 8 days straight. In the beginning I received introductory emails & text message from John Fleming the general manager, and Pauline the longterm sales specialist of 17 yrs, a few emails in very beginning, however after letting Pauline & their Finance Director Laura who reached out to me via email introducing herself offering her financing services to me, I did as she suggested & submitted their own online credit application which was like an employment application in length & detail & (Ive worked in the financial industry over 30 years now) I've never seen such a kong detailed credit application for buying an auto ever! I was immediately pre approved in 2 seconds as I have excellent credit scores being in the industry its required of you to do so. So immediately I start getting pressure to commit to a 5 hr visit & drive with my daughter & 4 yr old grandson as soon as possible pushing me to say " how soon can you come? Can you come Monday (it was only Saturday) we can't give you your loan rate we can offer through our multiple lenders until you actually come here in person, sit down & commit! Seriously??? I had already talked to 2 other dealerships who told me the best rate they could get me easily on the phone, no pressures to rush & drive 5 hrs to the others or that a price, payment amount or rate could not be estimated to give me an idea before deciding to drive on a long 5 hr trip there & back, but not with Fairfax Motors where Pauline, John Fleming & Laura all work cohesively together with one another before emailing you back after sharing my emails to each one with each other before any of them "might" decide to answer you or better yet dodge your main questions only to repeat many times " we can't give you your total price/cost to purchase this auto including taxes, tags, dealer fees until you commit to a date & appointment to come here to meet & sit down discuss the deal....really???? Since when is this required with online internet pricing & mass advertising on car-gurus & auto.com??? I have since Saturday emailed each one of these main 3 staff there all longterm in their positions & "specialists" (at B.S,) at least 4-5 times now asking for a breakdown email of the total costs to purchase this auto my daughter wanted & needed desperately, having gone without a car since January 6, as I told them we were strongly interested in buying this auto, & I informed them after pressing them all day Saturday for at least an estimate of best rates they had seen for my excellent credit I knew I qualified for since ai had a week earlier already been approved for the lowest best rate at the credit union I worked at for years and told 2.65% lowest rate they offer top credit. After repeated requests for an example of lowest best rates they see , was emailed back a very unbelievably vague reply of " a rate somewhere below 10%!!!! No way! I told them not in this life or this world have I ever nor would I ever pay 10% interest myself or allow my family to do so that that rate was for risky borrowers with poor bad credit! I was so in shock knowing i have excellent credit & was automatically already approved at my lender for their lowest best rate of 2.65% and pre approved thru Fairfax online credit app immediately after they ran my credit through checked it, all saying I qualified for their best lowest rates with my excellent credit which I knew already... so how does that correlate to " a rate somewhere under 10%??? It doesn't! So I immediately let them all 3 know I was securing my own financing thru my own lender & that I needed the total cost breakdown for this purchase to complete my loan in progress at my lender in order to get my loan pre approval check & or email letter saying so for taking or giving to Fairfax for the deal.... but wait, I only asked them all 3 for this since late Saturday stating I knew they could give me this information in order to review the total offer cost breakdown to purchase this great price auto $3,500 under dealer retail which searching all over the internet was a great find & price. So its Monday night now and no emails with my repeated request of 3-4 times for this necessary breakdown of total costs/price to purchase this auto.com advertised great deal. I waited the entire day and evening on any email back from one of the 3 to no avail all day long! I told them I was finalizing my loan for them to have before I drive the 5 hr trip there & back that I wanted all "my ducks in a row " before stepping foot in their dealership with my financing with my own lender as well as their emailed total cost/breakdown to me to purchase this auto also to give the information needed for my lender to complete the loan process. Not 1 email from either of 3 for this necessary information. I repeatedly questioned their interest in selling me this auto & was told by Pauline of course I want to sell it to you. Really? read more
