This hotel has terrible customer service and a rude owner. Would definitely not recommend to anyone due to shady business practices. Unfriendly to traveler nurses if you are traveling in the area and looking for a place to stay definitely look elsewhere! The hotel is no-frills, mediocre, which is ok, but the neighborhood is preyed upon by burglars. Someone tried to break into my truck while I was sitting in it, and after I moved my truck to be immediately across from the main entrance, the next morning I found that someone had smashed my window and stole my possessions. The hotel staff seemed unphazed, and while they apologized for the inconvenience, it was obvious that it is a regular occurrence, and they weren't surprised. Never again will I stay there, Salida is a bad scene. read more

I have stayed at this Fairfield two times and have not been disappointed. The rooms are very nice and the beds are comfortable. The staff is very nice and helpful. As a rewards member I was given an upgrade to a suite without asking. It certainly is not the Ritz, but WELL worth the price! Oh yeah, the FREE breakfast is not bad either. It is close to the freeway and railroad tracks, so don't be surprised to hear traffic and a couple of trains during the night. If you can sleep with the A/C or fan on it shouldn't bother you. read more

Will not take a Mastercard with the Paypal logo. 1st time I have EVER heard of this. Front desk person was NOT nice about it, and had no real response except "this is our policy". I have used this same card in about 50 different hotels and many other places (airlines, restaurants, shopping, online, etc.) and have never had any issues relating to it. Lost my business due to rudeness and arbitrary rules on payment. read more

Wow, thanks ,but no thanks. This will be the 2nd time I have stayed here. First time was passable, but the 2nd... well the receptionist was very rude, and when I asked her if she wanted my rewards number that I booked through Egencia she said oh no Marriott doesn't do that. I then proceeded to tell her that I became a Platinum member booking all my travels at Marriot hotels through Egencia and my rewards counted. "Not here they don't". And ask her if she wanted to put my rewards number in anyways just in case,.."NO". Well being a Platinum member you normally get the option for a free gift or another 200 points on your rewards if you don't accept a gift. Not here...how funny.. I checked in last night with a different receptionist got all the things that a platinum member would have, checked out and my meeting got it extended so I had to check back in that night different receptionist and a whole lot different of an attitude. I've stayed in Modesto a dozen times and my company normally stays at the DoubleTree downtown but being a platinum member I figure I would get better service at the Marriott, no such luck. Manager and staff are the worse. I am a gold elite member with Marriott and because of this place I'm no longer staying at Marriott properties. My flight was canceled and I called to cancel my reservation. The front desk lady sent me to the managers voicemail and I didn't get a call back. I called again a few days later and the same thing, no call back. Finally over a week later I get a hold of the manager who proceeds to tell me he doesn't care about my status and the fact that I have never cancelled before or had a flight cancellation. He said "Marriott doesn't do anything for me and I'm a franchise, maybe if I could have sold your room I would give you something back but I didn't". So now I'm taking my business elsewhere, already staying at Hilton properties and telling everyone in my company about this terrible experience at Marriott. Guess a $143 bad move from one terrible property franchisee was worth losing my 50 plus night a year and 10's of thousands of dollars. read more

Decent hotel but I did expect it to be better since it was a Marriott. Pros: Price was good-$98 with AA discount. We had no problems with check in although Customer Service through Marriott was suppose to book us at the one in Modesto not Salida but I just left the reservation alone since the 2 hotels were only about 7 minutes from each other. Front desk attendants were nice. Free Breakfast consisted of pastries, breads, cereal, yogurts, waffles, eggs, sausage, and drinks. There is a Dennys right next store if you want a more heartier breakfast (but of course you will have to spend more money). Cons: King bed was not cushiony! I would have to say it was more on the firm side (my son said the sofa bed was not comfy either). My pillow case although clean, it had a stain on it and 2 of the blankets had little holes. If you are a light sleeper the train will keep you up. There are earplugs in the rooms if you need them though. (Ask for a middle room cause on the other side of the hotel is the freeway-HWY 99). The AC had a mind of its own and did not stay on continuously like we wanted it too. This is Definately not your fancier Marriott. I would rate it as a 2 or 2 1/2 star hotel. read more

This was maybe our forth time staying here. Every employee we came in contact were helpful and friendly and professional. I wish I could remember everyone's names. The lady doing the breakfast, the desk clerks and housekeeping... all top notch. We were there for a week from 8/27 - 9/3. It's not super fancy but it was clean and comfy and everyone was very accomodating. There's a Denny's next door and a McDonalds and a gas station, all so convienient. Plus there are several restaurants and grocery stores just across the freeway. The hallway had a very pleasant smell and I forgot to ask them what it was or what they used. We'll be back. read more

I recently stayed at this hotel. They offer free wi-fi and a premium service for $4.95. While connecting to their wi-fi service via my smartphone, I accidentally clicked on the premium service. I didn't want this service so I immediately called the front desk and asked what to do. She told me to call tech support, which I did. Tech support informed me that they didn't see my smartphone on the network, but they did see my laptop. She explained when I clicked on the premium support tab that any of my wi-fi connected devices would automatically be part of the premium service. I asked her to remove my laptop from the premium service which she did. At no time did I even browse the internet after I accidentally clicked on the premium service. I then went down to the front desk to explain that I was on tech support, they deleted my laptop, and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be charged for the service. The front desk clerk then informed me that she called tech support and she said that they told her that I did access the premium support through my laptop. This is untrue, I never did that. Upon checkout, the front desk clerk was unable to help me reverse the charge. I will say, she was very pleasant and nice, and this situation was beyond her authority. So the next day I called the General Manager and explained how I accidentally clicked on the premium service and that I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be charged. Boy, talk about a surprise. (Please remember, we are talking about a $4.95 charge here). He informed me that he knew of my situation, they did check with tech support, and insisted that I did use the service and that I was going to be charged. I explained that I accidentally clicked on the wrong button, he said he has never heard of that before, and since I went through all the procedures he was going to charge me. I again said it was a mistake. He then asked me why I was spending so much time trying to get out of paying 5 dollars for a service that I used. I again tried to explain that it was an accident, and it was only 5 dollars, but I didn't want to be charged for something I didn't use, or want. He then said that since I clicked on it, and used it, I had to pay for it. I then explained that I will dispute the $4,95 with my credit card company and that they won't pay for it. He then asked why I bothered to call him then. The hotel is clean, the front desk clerk was very nice, warm and friendly. I believe if you stay here and don't have any problems you will be fine. However, caution, if you do encounter a problem as I did, you are going to run into a General Manager that will most likely not emphasize with you, won't take into consideration all the facts, and will leave you frustrated and feeling like you didn't matter to them. read more

Beautiful Hotel and friendly staff. Our stay was very comfortable. Didn't notice any barb wire and I have a 2018 Honda which didn't get touched so not sure what the comments about bad location were about. I had no safety concern. Anyway I had brought Roku to watch Netflix but to my surprise they had direct tv so we were able to watch tv and not have to hook up the Netflix. Had a conference in the morning that I packed a nice two piece pencil skirt suit for and realized I forgot to shave before leaving the house and was running late so couldn't go to store and come back. Called front desk and they had a free complimentary razor!!! Wasn't anything fancy but in the situation I was in it was a Lifesaver!! Breakfast was great and stay was so pleasant I plan to return here for any and all trips to this area. Love the dennys, McDonald's, and del taco options next door. Really wish the barb wire picture could be removed as the first picture for this hotel. It gives such a negative idea of what this hotel is definitely not! read more

Stayed here a with my family for a soccer event. The room was clean and very nice, although there was a lot of noise from children running around, young man at the front desk Arnold was very professional and friendly in accommodating to my family's needs. If using priceline, do not expect a room with 2 beds without paying an additional $30 per night. Room was reserved through priceline by my employer, obviously they did not read the reviews on priceline's page as this seems to be a common issue. Due to the economy we are forced to share a room with a coworker and need 2 beds. the room we got has 1 king bed and a fold out bed in the couch(it's not comfy). When I questioned the desk clerk she was rude and asked if I had read the part of the contract wich states that double bed rooms may be reqested but are not guarnteed. She finally told me that anyone who requests a room with 2 beds have to pay an additional $30 per night. They blame priceline and said that they can't control what priceline puts on their site and priceline knows that the hotel does'nt provide rooms with two beds at discount prices. If you don't need two beds not a bad deal, but if you do, be warned, they will not work with you. This hotel has 69 rooms and there were literally 5 cars in the parking lot when I checked in at 9PM and the same a 6AM so its not as if there was a shortage of rooms. Also the "free" breakfast was $5 for a basic continental. No thanks. read more
