Ram took his time and performed checks that were never done, he didn't push for anything more than was needed and he took into consideration that Kipper is 15 years old.

This was becoming a huge challenge (and pain) in our daily walks. Getting his attention was a non starter, it was at that point I decided to seek out some individualized training (the thought of having him in a group class was laughable). I came across Karma Dog Training and put in my information for a consultation. Jeffrey got back to me later that day and we talked about my goals and expectations. Mainly, trying to establish control over this behemoth and finding games to keep his mind occupied while im out of the house. He said he would bring it up at the staff meeting the next morning to determine who would be the best fit. I got a callback from Pilla the next day. She specializes in behavior modification and is the proud owner of a great dane as well as a shelter dog. We started off slow, establishing that the overarching goal is being able to get his attention is where the training flows from. She then wanted to observe him in the house with my other dog as well as during feeding time. She made some observations (like my 1st dog guarding me like a resource against the newcomer) while at the same time making suggestions that would make my life with him easier. She then starting showing me easy to utilize signals to get his attention, we spent the day learning variations of this. After the end of the first lesson, I was able to get his attention on a daily basis. We have a lot of work to do still, but we made an impressive amount of progress, enough to get me to buy a 6 lesson pack. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, the rest of our lessons had to be postponed after lesson 2. But Pilla has kept in contact with me over the weeks to make sure I'm repeating the fundamentals with my dog. Since the lessons build off of the success of the previous ones. Cant wait to see how my dog develops when the lessons resume!

I…read morewas too disappointed and upset yesterday when I picked up my two airedales from the grooming. First off, they didn't have my appointment shceduled when I arrived with the two of them at 7:30am. But they went ahead and took them. I had made the appointment the week before, after calling around looking for a place that had experience grooming airedales. They were the first to tell me they were. In fact, shared with me that they had a couple of airedale clients they groom. Just in case, before turning my airedales over to the groomer, I told her specifically. that I liked a long beard and mustache, and not to cut them. I even went as far as to give her photos of how I wanted the "head", showing different angles. I even told them what size blade to use. All I can say is, the ears are right on both dogs. I have no idea how many months...maybe a year, for my female to grow her beard back. Or how long her hair will grow back on her face so she doesn't look like a poodle or whatever that's supposed to be. The Groucho Marx eyebrows and the mustaches....I'll have to do or find another groomer just to fix them. And poor Roadie, he has been limping on his right front leg since we got him home. I was hoping it'd be better today, but it's not. Will have to take him into his vet. if there's no improvement. Don't know what happened, but he didn't have a limp when he went there yesterday morning. And they sure didn't say anything on how he may have hurt himself or gotten hurt. One thing I will not be doing, is taking them to the Big Dog Show at Reliant Stadium , in Houston, for "Meet the Breed". In the past, I've always taken our airedales for that. It's like a "show and tell" , where people can see and touch different AKC breeds and get information about them. They do not represent what an airedale should look like. Not even as a "pet". I didn't expect a show cut, but I did expect an airedale cut from someone who claimed they were experienced and knowledgeable to do that. I have serious doubts...serious doubts that was truthful. The price....shocking...$335.60 ($25.60 was sales tax) I was told $95 each for the grooming because of their weight. Then the upcoding for the nails ($15), conditioner ($5), dematting ($10) (was told they found a mat under Roxie's front leg, I told them to just cut or shave it off..it wouldn't show anyway), they said nothing about finding any mats on Roadie, but I was charged for them.). Then an extra $30 charge for "scissor service". I wasn't told this would be an extra charge above the "grooming service". And what was the "add on pattern set service" ($10) for Roadie? That was a whole other charge...and not one for Roxie. But I guess she was so messed up, they couldn't claim that. Roxie did have a cute bandana that was so tight on her neck, we had to cut it off. Roadie didn't have one, Maybe all they are used to doing are small dogs? You would have thought they would have put some cologne on them at least, but no. Just as well, they probably charged for that. I was shocked at the price. And of course, we had to pay before they brought the dog's out. And they don't give you a receipt of the charges, either. When I got home, I had a mystery message to click some weird link on my phone from an unknown number. Nothing that said it was from Red Bluff Pet Resort. Just a link to "view Roxie and Roadie's report card" and to "click this link to get pre approved for credit". After getting on my computer, I was finally able to figure out it came from them, and the desk person had signed me up for it. First off, there was no report card. There was a place for putting my credit card information in for them to make things easier for next time (as if). And I finally found my receipt and the breakdown of charges. It was a very expensive lesson. Needless to say, I'll be looking for a groomer that really does know how to groom an airedale in the Deer Park, Texas area. Photo of Roxie and Roadie. Then a photo of how they should look. One doesn't look like the other. An experienced groomer would know exactly how to do this. They were both in a "pattern". They just needed to be cut down shorter for the summer

Words can't express the gratitude I have for Dr. Jennings and the Haven Veterinary Clinic staff…read more When I moved back to the Houston area a few years ago I was so happy to come across a black AND female owned veterinary clinic that wasnt too far from my home. Cultural similarities aside, Dr. Jennings' credentials also spoke loudly to me. American Veterinary Association, Chief of Staff at Banfield for 20+ years. Texas A&M vet school. Yes, someone I can trust. Someone, who'll listen to my concerns and truly care about what's best for my pet. I confidently booked my first appointment for my dog. The staff is mild mannered, calm, gentle and always very welcoming. Dr. Jennings, the same but firm, knowledgeable and honest. Dr.Jennings always treated me with the utmost professionalism but yet with the care and concern of a dear family friend. It was clear she saw how much my little one meant to me and she wanted to provide me with the best information she had. A couple weeks ago, I was so relieved to have Haven Veterinary Clinic in my corner on the last day of my fur baby's life. I'm so grateful it was on a Saturday and while Haven was open. They welcomed me as soon as I could get there, without an appointment. Once there, they did all they could and let me come to the back with my little one as they cared for her. I stepped out briefly to run an errand and returned at closing time. Dr. Jennings then referred me to two 24 hour facilities were I could continue my fur baby's care. She remembered an awful experience I had with another nearby clinic and was careful NOT to refer me to them but to her top two choices. The option I chose couldn't have been more perfect. I'll be leaving a separate A+ review for them as well. While providing medical care for my dog, Dr. Jennings recommended the best diet plans, medications, and specialists and gave my baby the very best care. She was very helpful in guiding me on realistic options and steering me away from expensive time wasters. Although she always ensured all decisions were completely made by me. She laid everything out on the table for me to decide. A day after my precious little doggy passed away, which happened to be on a Sunday, Dr. Jennings called me and gave me her sincerest condolences. It meant so much to me that she went out of her way on a Sunday and when I knew she had time off the following week, to express her sympathy to me for my loss. I always felt seen, heard and understood by Dr. Jennings and like she truly cared about me and my fur baby. I would without question recommend any and everyone to this amazing veterinarian and her awesome staff. One day, when I have future fur kiddos, Haven is absolutely the veterinary clinic I'll choose. I'm a little sad I don't have a reason to see the staff and Dr. Jennings regularly anymore but when the time comes this is without a doubt where I will go.
