I have had great experience in the past. The person that use to come out isn't there any longer. But the last person was just as good. I sent an email a month or so I'm ago for a tune-up, and asked if I could also get a quote for a mini-split for the garage. I never got a reply. So maybe the company has gone thru some changes. Or a new owner. Anyway, I'm just going to do a DIY install with a MRCOOL. My system is only 5 years old, so I am not too worried about the HVAC. Jacob Garcia just left our house after an AC repair. I am an engineer, and I must say I have rarely met an individual who is not only as qualified for this technical work, but is also such a pleasure to work with. He masterfully went through the various diagnostic procedures and explained everything as we went along. To me, that is a sign of a competent person. I will continue to ask for Jacob if (and when) we need any ongoing work. A final note. Apparently if a technician had worked at a particular home, Fairway will try to send the tech to homes they are already familiar with again. This company recommended that I replace my 13 year old HVAC system with a new $15,000 HVAC system when all our broken ac needed was a new $90 capacitor and a new wire. Please reference the Work Order below for their report on our system. Our ac went out on a 110F July day last summer. Fairway Cooling & Heating came out the same day. They found a charred wire in our ac. They replaced the charred wire, did some readings, and told me that "Upon further inspection, found the wire was burnt because the compressor windings are failing internally". They charged me $122 for the call and wire replacement. The ac started working again but they cautioned me that it would not work for very long. They said "system repair is not recommended" due to "high cost of compressor" and "age of this low-grade Rheem system". They recommended that I replace my 13 year old furnace/ac for a new furnace/ac. The cost for this new system was approximately $15,000. Fortunately I got a second opinion. The second company told me over the phone that there was "no way our 13 year old system needed replacing since it wasn't old enough". The second company came out, looked at the ac, saw oil on the capacitor and told me that a "failed capacitor is the number one reason that you get a charred wire". They also said that the oil they found was further proof that our ac capacitor was broken and was the likely cause of our ac not working. This company also made measurements and told me that their readings were all good. In other words, no sign of catastrophic failure. My husband also did a five minute google search which also confirmed that a failed capacitor was a typical cause of a charred wire in the ac. The second company replaced the capacitor and our ac worked perfectly for the rest of the summer and through fall. I am wondering why this company only replaced the charred wire, why they didn't consider that a failed capacitor might have caused the charred wire, why they didn't consider that the oil on the capacitor was a sign that it had failed, and why did they get poor ac readings/measurements that second company didn't get. I am wondering why they were so quick to suggest replacement of a 13 year old system. read more

We moved into our house and realized the AC unit was running nonstop despite having everything turned off (we had to have the previous owner tamper with the unit prior to moving in so we figured something wasn't rewired correctly). We had a home warranty but when we called the home warranty company they said that this sounded like a prior condition prior to moving in so they wouldn't be able to service us (because they only service something that breaks after moving in). We googled HVAC in our area and Fairway popped up with 5 stars. Called at 12PM and they said they would have someone out by 3PM. Jacob Garcia came to our home and showed us that the previous owner had the wires connected to the unit wrong which is why the fan would not turn off which was an easy fix! He rewired the correct way. He also was so informative and was teaching my husband about our AC unit and told him what he was doing the entire time and explaining everything. This is our first home so everything is new to us so we really appreciated him taking the time to teach us! He also went into our attic to check out our furnace and let my husband watch. Jacob answered all of the questions we had about our units and taught us what we should know in the future and provided advice. He is very knowledgeable and was so open and transparent about everything! Our AC unit was somewhat off balance as well and making a bit of noise. Jacob had ran a test on it where he showed my husband that the unit was not running at the performance it should have been at. The unit itself had on it in its control panel what the ranges should be at and it was falling below the range. Jacob looked up our unit information and actually found out the parts were still under warranty (and the warranty was good for another year). So everything was covered entirely and we only paid for labor for the new parts to get installed! We also decided to add surge protectors to our furnace and AC unit with them (this part was not covered by warranty). It was truly a positive experience and the fact that he found out our parts were under warranty was great. In the end, that warranty saved us a lot of money and it shows that the company is honest. We could've easily been taken advantage of because we had no idea the parts were covered and we could've ended up paying for the replacements. When it comes time to replace our unit or any other issues we may experience we will definitely be calling Fairway. read more

Our technician was not wearing a mask, and only went and retrieved one from the truck after I asked. Even then however he would not cover his nose and insisted "people die from masks."
