Our air conditioning unit wasn't dead, but it was in the process of dying. We called Russett, who has handled our HVAC needs for decades. We found out Russett sold to Rite Way as of the next day, so we would be dealing with a company we knew nothing about. First, RW was immediately responsive and scheduled an installation project manager to come out the next day. Dominick Stephens arrived as scheduled and discussed options, features, and prices. He was personable and knowledgeable, and made an excellent impression. We made the decision and RW was able to schedule the installation of our new unit the following day. Is that efficient or what!?! The two installers, Arthur Mejias and Henry Arroyo, showed up at 8:00am as promised. They explained the plan and we were thrilled to hear that they had A-frame ladders to go over the wall so they wouldn't have to keep traipsing through our house. That also solved our kitty problem: Oliver has never been an outside cat, but he thinks he would like to go out. So we didn't have to worry about him escaping. Very appreciated. They really knew what they were doing and were incredibly polite. They did a very professional job, including the sheet metal work in the garage. They finished the installation around 5:00pm and then showed us how to operate our fancy new control box. If we were to rate Rite Way on a 1 to 10 scale, they earned a 10 in all categories. Very disappointed with the lack of pricing transparency. I recently received a proposal from Rite Way for an HVAC installation and had several questions regarding how the quoted price was determined. My concern was not about the quality of their equipment or whether professional installation has value. My concern was whether the price being presented was reasonable and consistent with fair market value for the actual scope of work. I specifically requested greater transparency regarding the labor, materials, quantities, equipment, and overhead and profit included in the proposal. Instead of providing meaningful supporting details, I was repeatedly told that their internal costs, labor rates, supplier pricing, overhead, and profit margins are "proprietary" and that they only provide a lump-sum project price. I understand that a company does not have to disclose its confidential financial information. However, there is a difference between protecting proprietary business information and providing enough information for a customer to reasonably evaluate a significant purchase. What concerned me most was the explanation of the overhead and profit component. Based on the scope presented to me, this appeared to be a relatively straightforward, single-trade HVAC installation. I questioned why the stated overhead and profit percentage was appropriate for this particular project, but I was not provided with a meaningful explanation beyond the general value of their service. The issue for me is that when the quantities, labor, material pricing, and other components of a proposal cannot be independently evaluated, it becomes very difficult to determine whether the lump-sum price is actually representative of fair market value or includes substantial markups. I am not saying a contractor should work without making a profit. I am saying that a customer making a significant investment should be able to ask reasonable questions about the price without being told that the information needed to evaluate it is proprietary. Ultimately, the lack of transparency left me uncomfortable with the proposal and unwilling to move forward without being able to better understand how the price was justified. I would strongly recommend getting multiple quotes and asking very specific questions about scope, quantities, labor, materials, and additional charges before committing to a large HVAC purchase. read more

We were quoted a $3,000 repair. We sought a second opinion and it turns out there is a small leak and our A/C was fixed by a $100 addition of refrigerant and quoted under $500 for a repair of the small leak. What a HUGE difference. Summer heat is no excuse for bad quotes and taking advantage of people. I would like a refund of what we paid for the assessment visit. What a terrible way to get $70 out of someone. read more

My interaction with Rite Way far exceeded my expectations. First, the communication was great. I got an appoint for the day after I called. (I was expecting to have to wait a long time in summer.) I just wanted to have my AC checked because it's old and I'm trying to avoid trouble. A Rite Way rep called me in the AM to confirm the appointment. The technician also called when he was on his way, which I appreciate, since I'm disabled. He ran tests and checks on everything: the AC, the ductwork, the thermostat, and he even went up in the crawlspace to inspect the furnace. He cleaned all the components, changed filters, and showed me photos of components so I didn't have to go outside. I also got a written report. An easy 5 Stars! 4.5 years after purchasing and installing a state of the art Mini-Split, something went terribly wrong and although it was running and using 4x the normal energy amount - it wasn't cooling anymore. A friend recommended Rite Way and I started the process to setup an inspection - see what was what. Within the hour I had an appointment the nest day. Tech arrived, diagnosed the issue in 10 minutes and presented 3 options. Turns out I had a 4.5 year leak on the high-pressure connection on the condenser unit. Had him charge it back to full, he tightened all of the compressor connections and I opted for their Maintenance Plan. Cooled Taj-Ma-Haul from 103 down to 88 in 9 minutes! Electricity usage was back to "new" levels, 800watts peak and down to 200watts to maintain temp (72f). Gladly will recommend Rite Way to anyone I know who needs this service! Daniel came to do a flush on our relatively new (3 yrs) hot water heater. Everyone has one, few bother to do suggested annual flush maintenance. He was extremely knowledgeable, showed me several things that would improve performance and extend life of our water heater. A little preventative maintenance can buy you years of performance on appliances. I highly recommend Rite Way. They are our go to for AC and now plumbing! We bought two identical Trane HVAC (heating and air conditioning) systems from Rite Way Heating and AC for the Oro Valley home we'd recently purchased. The Rite Way tech who did the Spring maintenance inspections of the twin HVAC systems in the home advised that each was nearing the end of its useful life, and suggested replacing both systems. If we did, he said, Rite Way would refund the $118 we'd just paid for the two maintenance checks: $59 x 2. The Project Manager then sent out to finalize the deal reiterated the tech's promise while sitting at the dining room table: if we went with Rite Way, and within two days to keep their crews working, the $118 will be refunded. A month later, we're still waiting . . . despite multiple "reminder" emails to the Project Manager - a senior-level Rite Way staffer reporting to the company owner. The PM never bothered to respond - nothing - going silent after cashing our nice, fat check to pay for the work in-full. Delivering as promised is the real Right Way to do business; happy clients again want to work with accountable home contractors, gladly providing referrals so friends and neighbors can avoid problems with firms having histories of not delivering as promised. I like easy. Trying to recover money promised by a home contractor is not, even $118 on a nearly $25K purchase. As such, we do NOT recommend Rite Way and will NOT use this company for future HVAC or other home contracting work they provide, nor will we refer this company to friends, neighbors or others looking for an accountable service provider. I want a contractor which keeps their word, and responds to paying customers AFTER the sale and full payment. read more

They came to my house to sell me a $47K system. However, they also suggested to inspect the system to determine if it can be fixed. The technician stated that the system may need a new controller and for a mere $300 it would work. Unfortunately, the controller fried and nothing worked. My friend who shall remain nameless had to go to YouTube university to learn and troubleshoot the entire HVAC system and found the problem. Five hundred dollars in total expense my dual system 2T and 4T work flawlessly. Maybe some day I'll get a refund-never read more

Rite Way is the WRONG Way. Had them install a Moen pull-out kitchen faucet a couple years ago. Now we need to replace it and cannot uninstall, as they took the proprietary valve wrench with them that Moen includes in the box-- I guess that's one way to insure a repeat customer. Unfortunately, this particular model is discontinued and we are now completely screwed as a result of the installer's incompetance. Additionally, the under-sink pipe installation was poorly performed and will need to be completely pulled out and re-done, once we've got the faucet removed. This is not the first problem we have had with Rite Way -- they performed a shoddy installation on our mini-splits, which created an unnecessary leak that they came back and failed to fix a half-dozen times, although we did get charged for each service call. I had to fix it myself, which was a non-trivial endeavor. Stay away from Rite Way -- I'd suggest Cool Willy's instead, at least for your mini-splits. read more

Later, they told us it'd cost almost another $2,000 to actually fix the leak, with no guarantee it wouldn't be more and no warranty for the job. On February 26th Rite Way air conditioning service techs came to my house for my spring checkup. There were two of them, which I learned later meant that one was in training. So they spent hours up on my roof while my heat and air ran in my house. When it was finally all over the senior tech said it all looked good and they left. But the next day via email I received around 30 pictures and 3 different invoices. The three invoices totaled $2302.65. This made me so mad. I was told it looks good then they send tree invoices with a total of more than I draw a month for possibly repairs. One was for large & dull capacitors replacement, one was for a blower & fan cleaning, and one for a soft start kit. So I saw on TV you can get a free 2nd option from a well established HVAC company here in Tucson, AZ. So I called and they sent over a tech and he did the inspection and he showed me pictures of my blower and it was very dirty. I was told that when they cleaned my ducts a few months before they should have cleaned my blower or at the very least give me a considerable discount to clean the blower with the duct cleaning. He asked me if my system ran all the time to keep my house cool in the summer or did it turn on and off and the temperature stayed the same. I told him it would turn on and off, and he told me then I did not need a soft start kit. He checked the dull capacitors and showed me they were just fine. So out of twenty three hundred dollars I really did not need anything but the blower cleaned and that should have already been done. I went through the 30 or so pictures that Rite Way sent me and even had the tech from another company look at the pics to see if the blower was there and it was not. Now I don't know the HVAC business, but it seems to me if you wanted to get your customers to keep using your company, you would show them pictures of the extremely dirty blower, so they would let you clean it. But no, they just wrote up an invoice. I called Rite Way and talked to the service manager Brandon and he said he would send someone out to clean my blower free of charge. That was an unexpected treat, but a very nice thing to do. We did not discuss the other two things that they said I should consider doing to my ac unit. Rite Way came out on March 12, stayed about 5 minutes and told me the manager will call me. A few minutes later Brandon called me and told me the service tech could not clean my blower because there is a power line too close to the ac unit and he is afraid. So I ask Brandon, you have been coming out here for how many years and the line that has always been there, is suddenly too close to the unit. So how many things have you charged me for that you did not do, because of the power line. He suggested I call the electric company, so I did and they came right out. The tech went up on the roof and laughed and told me the line was coated and could not hurt anyone. Then he took off his gloves and grabbed the power line and moved it out away from the ac unit. He really got a good laugh out of that. So the next day I called Rite Way again, and told Brandon the line was moved and he said he will send someone out to clean my blower. Finally by mid afternoon the blower was cleaned. read more

I currently have a home warranty and the warranty providers don't come after hours. Therefore I had to reach out to an after hour service, Rite Way that were available the very next day. I had a metallic smell and turned off my AC ASAP and waited the next day (triple digit heat). Mr. Trey Peterson was the nicest, knowledgeable person that came by as late as 9:30 pm and checked out my AC to make sure it was all ok. He turned the AC back on to make sure of the smell. Of course, no metallic smell, but discovered oil inside and ran it to make sure everything was ok. We scheduled a follow up because of the oil and it being 26 years old, it may be time to replace. Scheduling to see my options. Overall, I appreciate Rite Way and Mr. Trey Peterson's time and patience throughout this entire process. Very grateful to them...Impressive!! read more

After my review, Aaron, their Sewer Team Manager reached out and returned to make the situation right. Turns out it was a quick fix with a plunger. I would highly recommend working with Aaron, we previously worked with him when he owned Southern Arizona Plumbing. He does great work and tries to find a solution. However, it is worth mentioning, I was originally presented 3 options for the job when a technician visited last week: $225 (Drill Snake), $875 (Iron Milling) and $2,057 (Tub P-Trap and Overflow Replacement). The original technician didn't try to plunge the drain before trying to sell other solutions. Overall, I think your experience with RiteWay will depend on who you are working with. read more

They have been "maintaining" our AC units for several years. Initially they seemed to be sincere. Then starting four years ago, each time they came for scheduled maintenance (twice/year), they will find some issues, which "needed" to be fixed urgently, costing hundreds of dollars. Last summer they told us one of the three units needed to be replaced, because it was beyond repair. On each visit, they will push us to replace it and offer us a quote/special deal that they had at the time. Then the second unit started leaking water. They told us that it was beyond repair and so dangerous that we must stop using it. This followed by frequent calls to offer us a new special deal that they had going for replacing two units. I asked them if the two units could be repaired. Their reply: it will cost several thousands dollars and there is no guarantee that they would last more than a year or so. That is, "both units must be replaced urgently and until then don't use them." As this summer arrived, we were ready to get two new units. But before doing it, a friend recommended another company that he uses to have a look, which we did. It turns out our AC units are perfectly fine. One of the units needed a new capacitor, and the second unit was leaking because the draining tube was clogged, and had not been cleaned for years. Essentially, our units had not been serviced for years despite the fact that we had been paying Rite-Way for servicing them twice a year. On each scheduled service, it turns out their intent was to not service the units. Rather, it was meant for finding excuses to recommend new fixes. Then it escalated to pushing for replacing two units entirely. They have been calling us frequently and leaving voice messages for scheduling inspections. Obviously, I am done with them. Please do not use them. Do not let them anywhere near your AC. Once they start with you, your ACs will start malfunctioning. read more

My HVAC began making a very loud noise before noon today - even my neighbor came outside as he thought it was his unit. Up until then I hadn't had any issues with my A/C. Rite Way installed it in 2021 Technician Jorge Aguayo arrived within 35 minutes of my call and after giving him a brief assessment of the reason for my call he got right on it, running diagnostics. Everything seemed to check out and after performing some tests and troubleshooting he deemed everything to be good with my system. He discussed what to do should this happen again. 4/14/25: Thought our thermostat was on the fritz, but it turns out it turned off as a failsafe measure and we avoided a potential disaster. I called for a service this morning and Jason was here by 1:30. He was friendly, professional, and listened as I explained what I had already tried to troubleshoot on my own. He did a thorough inspection, figured out the issue, and not only repaired it, but walked us through what happened and how to mitigate it in the future. He gave us fair options with upfront pricing and respected our decision. It was great to have a technician who really knows his trade and went the extra mile to make sure we were satisfied.
