My friend and I came in for a gel manicure and regular pedicure each. The manicure process was fine but unusually fast. I'm used to sitting in the chair for at least an hour on my gel manicure alone but she finished both of our manis in less than an hour. This is probably the reason why both of our manicures chipped the very next day. We went back in and they fixed them, but blamed it on how short our nails are. Never heard that reason before, but ok. Two days later at least three of my friend's nails chipped so she had to go back in for a new set, which are now chipping again. Mine came completely off after a week. Worst gel manicure ever for the both of us. Pedicures were nice. The chairs were amazing. They charged an extra $5 for callous removal and another $5 for a five minute massage, so our originally $20 pedis became $30. Fine. My friend's toes still look great a little over a week later. Mine are chipping like mad so I'm already in need of another mani/pedi and it hasn't even been two weeks. Fantastic. Needless to say I won't be coming back here again. read more

I normally go here once a month to get my nails done and I have no problems but yesterday was not the same. There was only three ladies working but the place was packed. I went in to get both a manicure and a pedicure and they began with the pedicure. The pedicure was fine until the end. Once the lady helping me finished the pedicure she was trying to put on my shoes but got frustrated and began to twist and turn my foot with no warning at all. Once she put on my shoes she rushed me out of the chair and began to push me towards a table to get my manicure. The same lady who did my pedicure did my manicure. I had acrylics on and was getting them removed and everything was going fine. More people began to enter the store and as soon as the lady noticed she began to rush. When removing my acrylics after more customers began walking in she ripped off half of my nail to the point that I began to bleed! She apologized but still continued to go at a fast pace. As I said before I only go to this nail salon to get my nails done but after this experience I will not return. I did not feel like they were paying attention to me and taking their time to help me. read more

I was a regular here - came 2x a month at least for the last year. I am so disappointed in their customer service. I waited an hour or so to get a mani and pedi and when she was in the middle of my pedi, she literally got up to assist someone else that just came in who had an appointment. While I understand that you need to attend to someone that has an appointment, it is not OK to abandon someone that has been waiting and a regular without giving them any information. Additionally, when the lady with the appointment said it was okay to finish me up, she said "No, she doesn't have an appointment so I won't finish her." That was extremely rude and unprofessional. This is for sure my new nail spot! I found this hidden gem while actually planning on going to a diff nail spot down the street. After circling awhile i stumbled upon a little free parking area for this nail salon. SOLD! Stacked parking makes it easy to get your nails done without the stress of meters and time limits. Lin did my nails and was great! I actually stopped biting my nails after my first manicure here! I've been biting my nails for 30 years!!! They charge $1 for credit card as most nail spots do. The salon is spacious with many manicure stations and pedicure stations. The massage chairs are super legit too! When getting a mani/pedi they only did one service at a time so if you're in a rush, let them know. I'm sure if you mentioned being limited on time you can get the mani and pedi done at the same time. FULL FIVE STAR RATING!! They have WiFi now!! Woot woot! One must schedule an appointment with him, it's too difficult to walk in and request him. This review is way overdue! We will never return to this ship again! Horrible experience! Stay away! This establishment have been under new management for several years, and you'd think by now, they've hired qualified staff! I was attending a special occasion, and we've decided to have our nails done professionally, we decided on acrylic/gel nails which apparently is a process! I wish I would of known what I was getting myself into! We've experienced excruciating pain from the beginning. They're rough and inconsiderate. Our nails bled, nails were non-symmetrical chronic bleeding, which ended us in the ER! It's taken our nails to grow healthy over 2 years. I cringe the whenever I think of this horrific experience! The person that worked on me had a severe language problem, never smiled, and terrible eye sight, she coke bottle glassess. I'm incredibly sensitive with anyone trying to earn an honest living, but not at the expense of others. She obviously has vision issues, she chose the wrong profession. Not only are the chemicals are extremley toxic, they are carcinogens. We were there 4 hours. I can't explain what a horrible experience we had. Never again! Of course, I complained to the owner, she tried to butter me up by saying "so sorry". Yes, I could of had the health department shut them down. I didn't do it because, these women commute from OC, and need a job. The majority are beyond 60 years old. This may sound brutal, but it's not fair to the public that they should have to undergo such pain at their expense. At the time there was only one male, and he had the most clients, I saw his work, he was professional, quick, and everyone commented that he was the best out all the women. Also beware of pedicures. When Michael and Lisa were owners and full time, they ran a wonderful operation. They made sure these women were conscientious. These ladies just gave me the best manicure I've ever had since moving to Los Angeles. I just get my nails buffed and shined, but most nail places often end up buffing over my cuticle line rather than cutting it. And that was just the nails! Fast forward to my upgraded pedicure.... the honey and sea salt scrub was amazing! Again, the attention to detail in cutting my cuticles was huge here (I have 2 ingrown nails) and she cut it out cleanly and kept rolling. Also the water was super hot, which I feel like no one ever does, and they actually gave my feet a chance to soak. The lady who did my nails cut my finger argued with me bc I wanted her to apply the dip powder closer to my cuticle! It literally looked like they were trying to do a half ass job so I'd have to come back quicker! The woman who did them this time was so rude (both times I went to her) and my nails look like a child did them with paint all over my skin. They do a good job on the nails but they lied about price and told me 3 different prices for the same thing... before I got my nails done they said it would be $37 after I got them the guy doing my hands said "$40" and then the lady doing my toes said "43" and made me tip BOTH her and the guy so I had to pay $10 extra for just the tip on top of the $6 extra they charged me... I will never return to this "salon". It does NOT deserve the description of salon. First one must deal with the pesky flying insects nonstop. They give you their laminated menu to beat them away - hardly a relaxing experience. Also they are very overpriced for the service they deliver. I find it quite disheartening to be pestered constantly for the up charges. The basic pedicure is $17, you must pay $5-&$7 extra for what is considered basic anywhere else, such as the usual scrub with pumice on the bottom of the feet. My girl actually cut me deeply without much apology during a simple rub. I do not believe they sterilize their instruments. The entire shop is not kept in a sanitary condition. They don't market as a mani/pedi as most places, hence the up sell for any minor item. Bottom line - you can pay less and receive better work in a sanitary salon almost anywhere else. read more

Fairy's a little cheaper than most and I only get the gel polish, not the full manicure. No cuticle, no soaking. Nothing. I take excellent care of my nails. They're strong and long (naturally). But polish cracks fast in my line of work. So I go for gel. I've given Fairy a couple of tries now. The first time, I walked in because Lucky Nails was busy. The lady was nice. She took her time (too much time for my liking). Her filing was crooked and ratchet square. But I overlooked it. Fixed it. She put way too much of the primer on my nails though. Fine. Whatever. Tried a second time. They were very busy and the lady who greeted me wasn't the nicest. Didn't wait. Went down the street. Had a great experience. Went back today. The same lady (whose name I won't mention) motioned to put fake tips on. Huh? My nails are long already. I told her no. I only have gel polish. I told her I wanted my nails square round. She said don't worry. And filed and filed my poor nails short and crooked again. WTF? I fixed them myself and just decided to leave. Went down the street. They took care of me. Again. You get what you pay for. Maybe the lady is newer and less experienced? I don't know. But I won't be going back. And won't be recommending them anymore. I went here to get a fill and have 3 nails replaced. ALL 3 were replaced with 3 DIFFERENT SHAPES that didn't match the rest of my gel manicure. Nor did they remove all of the nail polish from the previous set. She also insisted on a tip! I returned for her to fix them and she made it worse than it was before! I had been going here for years, started when Micheal owned it and then Monique who actually made the interior more bright and pleasant. But this last year it has not been managed well at all, even when you make an appt Lynn makes you wait or you walk in she will keep you waiting! With the exception of Mary who makes her own appt the place has gone downhill. Most of the manicurist are good but they have to deal thru Lynn! EDIT: I went back the day after to have them fix my nails. They ended up just as bad. The lady seemed a bit upset that I was back and worked "fast and aggressively," so much so she ended up "shaving" the skin off my pinky with the very harsh and hard nail file, she made me bleed (see second picture). I'm not going back. I've been coming here for a couple years and have always been happy with my services, especially if the owner does my nails and if I get dip powder. The last few times I decided to take a break from the powder and just get a regular gel manicure instead. The last few times I have had the same lady do my gel manicure and it's just not well done. I even hesitated to write a review and wanted to write the owner instead but there's no way to reach her and they don't have a website. I have been satisfied with all the technicians except for this one lady. I feel bad saying that but she should not do nails. My nails polish is too thick, sloppy, has bumps everywhere and is all over my cuticles. There was a huge dent on a nail and she said, "you bumped!" I did not "bump," that was just the bad job she had done. I could see she was trying so hard to do a good job but she just doesn't "have it." I would still come back here if I could stay clear of having her, but how do i do that without offending her? Ugh!! I might have to find a new nail place. Well, I chose this place because it was the only nail salon near my office with more than one review. I'm still not very sure I made the right choice. I called at 4, made an appt for 2 full sets at 5pm. My friend and I got there at 5 on the dot, and even though there were several women wandering around without clients, we had to wait for over 30 minutes. Every few minutes, they would glance at us, and say stuff to eachother, and it really started to feel like no one wanted to help us. We finally get taken to the stations, and an older woman, Tammy comes to me first, asking me what I want. Now, I go into an explanation of how I want gel nails and stuff, but about 20 words in I realize that she has no idea what I am saying. So I tell her to wait, and go up to the front to talk with Michael, who speaks english. He walks me back to her, and says a few words, and tells me that it is taken care of. She gets all annoyed and huffy and is totally slamming things around, so I stay quiet, and try to talk to my friend, who is still waiting for her technician. Tammy starts on my nails and my friend gets led off somewhere to get hers. I can tell she is still annoyed and she keeps muttering things and all the other women keep looking over at me like I'm the anti-christ. Do I get the gel nails? Nope, she starts putting the white tips for acrylics and I say eff it, I'm not trying to get my fingers chopped off. The whole time she's applying the stuff, she keeps yanking my fingers this way and that, telling me to relax them!! I'm almost done, and she has the dremel file out, and what does she do? She cuts across the top of my ring finger, and then tells me its my fault!!!!! GRRR!!! There's got to be a bazillion nail salons in this city, and not much separating one from another other than the sheer number of Vietnamese women staffing them. I found Fairy's because I live nearby and I was looking for a field trip to do with my wife. Of the two nail salons in walking distance, Fairy's was the cleanest looking with an autoclave in the rear and plastic liners on all the buckets and spa equipment. My wife and I each got a mani/pedi and they did a great job. Since we don't speak Vietnamese we were kind of in the dark conversationally, but we were treated well and pampered nicely. They have a couple of deluxe spa chairs, so you can always upgrade your experience and sit in the fancy leather jobs. The best thing is that Fairy's has got to be the cheapest salon in town. Twenty bucks each for a mani/pedi. It was so inexpensive I added a foot callous removal for $4! I tipped well for having subjected the poor woman to my man-feet. May I be the first man to request that the French nail and acrylic fad END?! I'm pretty much sick of every woman in L.A. having big, white, plastic nails. I'll never forget my first MILF, my fifth grade teacher, Eunice Heckman. She had the most gorgeous red, natural fingernails. I am finally over this place. The woman who recently did my nails did the most horrible gel acrylic fill. She obviously cut me multiple times and burned me with the drill repeatedly which I responded "OW" over and over. It didnt slow her down or be more gentle. I politely asked her to reshape and repolish multiple nails that were clearly misshapen or had streaked polish. The two men that work there are amazing but the regulars know that because they are most demanded and have others waiting for them for long periods of time. It also seems as if they cant decide whether or not they take appointments. I've scheduled an appointment with them a few times and other times was told they dont take appointments. I've witnessed this with other customers as well. Don't let the prices fool you, do your self a favor and avoid! read more

UPDATE: Downgrading to 3 stars for lackluster customer service and general disorganization. In 3 weeks I was quoted 4 different prices for the regular mani/pedi I've getting 2 or 3 times a month for the past 2 years at the same price. First $25, then $37, then $20, now $27. Never an apology or acknowledgement of the inconsistency. Let's see what the price is in December.... ____ The cleanest mani/pedi I can find on the Westside for the price, have been coming here for two years. Mine last a couple of weeks - not the finger nail polish which inevitably chips (I bring my own colors) but cuticles and shape. I like to change my polish color every few days anyway, but so nice not to have my toenails and cuticles looking raggedy four days later. The down side is that appointments are for nothing. You can call the day before and confirm on the day and still be kept waiting 20 minutes past your appointment time. Bring cash for tipping. read more

HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!! STAY AWAY!! First of all this place has no air conditioning!! They are sooooooooo slow. I think I aged 10 years just being there!! I went in for a manicure and pedicure. The lady started with my hands and was going slower than I've ever seen ANY HUMAN MOVE!! I finally had to ask for someone else to start on my feet because I needed to meet a friend. The lady working on my feet was just as slow!! Both the hand and foot massages were pathetic! They glop all this lotion all over you and dont even rub it in. They "rub" for like 30 seconds then use a towel to wipe all the extra lotion off. Oh and the "foot scrub" lasted 2 minutes with the strength of a 110 year old person. I had to go home and had to use my own pumice stone to scrub my own feet!!! Finally, the hand lady started painting my nails. A 5 year old child could have done a better job. She glopped a TON of polish on and was all over the outside of my nails and ON MY SKIN!!! The "manager" had to come over and RE-DO all of my nails!! I got french tip on my toes and the white is soooooo thick and UGLY. Ever since my horrific experience with the neighborhood nail shop, I have been looking for a spot near my place for the pedicures that I hold so dear to my heart. I am fine with this place so far. Sure, it's not the most beautiful shop in the world - by any means. But I am there to get my feet prettied (safely and cleanly) and read my book so atmosphere doesn't matter to me. I got there around 6:30 - they close at 7 - and they took me right away. I like that they offer spa or not - those spa tubs are germy wonderlands and I bore the brunt of that for a year in the form of a pretty nasty toe situation so I will never go near those again. Give me a lovely little plastic lined vibrating foot bath any day. She also unwrapped her tools from an autoclave package so they were (hopefully) sanitized. HUGE BONUS. When I first asked where the polishes were, some woman wheeled over a cart of cheap-o brands. I was disappointed. I usually bring my perfect shade of OPI red with me (An Affair in Red Square) but it was spur of the moment so I was empty handed. Once I had chosen a shade and sat down, the woman who was actually doing my toes pointed at a glass cabinet that was all OPI. Ahhh. Better. The selection was limited but it is quality and really does last longer than other brands. I shall now how glittery pink toes through New Year's! The pedi itself was fine - her paint job and sanitation were great. My reason for the only 3 stars is that the massage was lame. Blah. I love the massage. I pay for extra massage every time it's offered. i am a sucker for a foot rub. This was more of a lotion application. Blah.
