I have always wanted to try out Pamper Nail Spa since i used to live in Palms. I finally planned far enough in advance to book an appointment. I needed gelx nails done for my wedding and had an idea of what I'd like. I got there early and Chi Thuy was able to accommodate me early. I showed them what i had in mind (a white ombre with cat eye) and instead of winging it, they did a test run on a loose gelx nail and showed me to confirm. I immediately felt reassured this was going to turn out great! Chi Thuy was very thorough and detailed with the base coats and ombre. Then of course came the cat eye which really topped off the whole look! I was very happy with the end product and weeks later they continue to last and look great! I called a few weeks in advanced to make an appointment for 2 people. I was quoted $35 for gel manicure + extra $7 for the French tips. I also inquired information for my friend who wanted a regular mani and regular pedicure in which was quoted $42. I made sure to ask if cuticle care and shaping were included in those prices and the lady answering the phone said it was. These prices reflected are without tip FYI, and make sure to bring cash as they are CASH ONLY! We arrived at our appointment early and were able to get the metered parking right outside the storefront. We paid for an hour of parking and it was right on the money in terms of timing. The ladies also knew we parked right outside and even checked on the meter for us to ensure that it did not expire. My gel with French experience was good. She did comment on when I had my nails done last though... which was definitely over a few months ago. I felt a little judge, but also I did not care much because that was the whole point of going to the nail salon in the first place, plus I have to wash my hands a lot for work so I knew it was definitely a little beat up to say the least. One thing I noticed was that they do two base coats before applying the white gel tips for the French. She asked which I preferred for the base coats and I said the light pink was fine, but I did not anticipate that she would do two coats considering other places that I've been to only do 1 base coat and 2 coats for the gel tips, so it was a bit more pink than I liked. For the white tips, the nail artist used a very fine tip to create the shape before using the same fine tip to fill it in. She did not use a brush to create the shape. It was a little impressive that she could make the shape without using the brush, but without using the brush to shape it better, it was not as even/round as I would have liked (see pics). My friend enjoyed her regular mani and pedi. They have two people working on her at the same time. The regular mani and pedi took a lot longer to dry but that was expected. They did try to convince her to do a gel mani instead, but she was firm with her decision considering her job does not allow for gel manicures. Overall, for the price and time it took for them to do the nails, I would be back if I was in the area. It's definitely not one of those fancy salons, but it gets the job done. In my 30+ years of living, I have never once gotten a manicure (never my vibe)... until I was urged by my bridesmaids to try it out before my wedding this year. So, this year, I have tried out more nail studios that I have ever pictured myself doing, all in the name of "research" for the wedding (ha...). So, here are some relative thoughts after having been here twice in the last couple of months. - Price: the prices are fair. A simple gel manicure here is $35. If you get a removal of prior gels, it's free. BUT, if you just do the removal only and no service, they charge you $10. - Quality: ok. I recently went back to do a French tip (research, right)- and from far away, the finished product looks ok, but if you look closely, the lines are not symmetrical, of different widths, and nails were cut in weird angles. The manicure also was not as meticulous as what I have seen at other places. They are pretty fast though for a gel manicure (my sister took about 40 min), which is the tradeoff for the end result. - Environment: really tight and cramped. There are about 3-4 pedicure stations, and 2 manicure desks. They are always packed and there is absolutely no where to sit or stand comfortably if you are waiting for your appointment. - Appointment: easy to make over phone; or you can text them ahead of time. Highly recommend, because they get really busy. - Timeliness: poor. I would not recommend this nail salon. After frequenting the salon often and paying one nail tech $40 for dip powder, I started going to another nail tech in the salon after the original struggled with doing almond shaped nails. Today I booked an appointment and I assumed it was with the person who has been doing my nails for months but it was with the person who struggles with almond shaped nails. I immediately asked if the woman who normally does them was available. She was sitting next to the other tech doing nails. She rudely turned around and said she didn't have time. I asked if she could at least help with the shape, and she said yes. I showed the tech a photo and asked for the same shape and a French tip as shown in the photo. She told me I needed to pick a base color. I told her I just wanted whatever was or would look most natural. She stated that it would be $55 and I normally pay $40-$45 for dip powder. Though it did not make sense to me, the price wasn't the issue. The woman who cannot do almond shaped nails consistently charged me $40 and when I started going to the other woman she charged $45 which I had no problems with because both are good prices in this economy. And I always tip at least $5. However, when pointing this out and bringing up that fact to them both, the lady blatantly lied. I have screenshots of the ATM transactions due to having to go get cash out of the ATM at a liquor store a few doors down in order to pay each visit. (Which I noticed they only ask certain customers to do). After we were past this point, and back to the base color convo, I kept saying, I don't want a base color to the tech doing my nails. The woman who was not doing my nails, turned around, raised her voice stating, French tip is always more. I said that's fine, and that's not what we are currently discussing. I'm stating the price is fine, I just don't want an actual base color. And even the lady who was getting her nails done attempted to intervene on my behalf and say she's just asking for a natural color. And the tech told her no I wasn't. They made an entire scene of it all as if I haven't given them my hard earned money consistently for a long time at this point. I cried out of frustration and simply asked that the dip powder be removed altogether and I will never frequent this nail salon again. It was one of the most unprofessional situations ever and they literally had no shame. I had them remove my old dip powder and I left to go to a salon with better service. Although it saddens me having to write this review, it's important to provide feedback after receiving a not so great experience.. What I like most about this nail salon is the location. It's a very convenient distance for me and the rates aren't terrifying like many other shops in LA. What I dislike is the small cramped space and very minimal nail polish color choices. Especially pinks and nudes for darker complexions. My first experience here was okay. Kept it simple.. but my nails ended up being slightly shorter than I had requested. Unfortunately, by the time I noticed the extra filing, it was too late to do anything. So, I ended up being content with the outcome and hoped for a better one next time... "Next time" arrives... Yesterday was my second time at the shop as a walk-in and if I'm not mistaken, I spotted 2 mani/pedi chairs available upon my arrival. I requested an oval, gel French tip manicure and a regular pedicure and was in no rush. I showed a picture for inspiration and then my mani began. The pedicure was fine. However, the lady that did my mani was having trouble with painting the white tips... towards the end of the service, I noticed a smudge from the white nail polish onto the pink nail bed. Now, of course I expect clean lines-- no exceptions, so I reiterated myself many times that there was a mistake and it should be fixed. The lady acted as if she didn't see anything so I pulled out my phone's flashlight to show her again and again, then she made some kind of adjustment. Yes it looked better than before...until I noticed even more imperfections in natural lighting on my way home. As a respectful human being, I paid for the services and gave both technicians a nice little tip for their kindness and time. BUT, my nails just kept bothering me throughout the day AND I have a wedding to go to this weekend. I'm sooooooo bummed. Just look at the photos, they are all self explanatory.. Called in same day and was able to get an appointment for a gel mani. It was surprisingly very busy for a Thursday afternoon. It's a small space, only has 3 massage chairs for pedicures and 2 tables for manicures. Price is comparable nail salons in the neighborhood and they are cash only. Service was good and everyone was friendly, however, the only reason for the 4 stars was that my gel mani took about an hour and 20 min from start to finish. I think my manicurist may have been just starting out so took quite a bit of time with each nail. She also forgot a few times to turn the UV light machine on. Otherwise she was friendly and did a good job. I wouldn't expect it to take that long every time given other ladies came and left at a decent time. This spot has been my new and best-kept secret for cheap and high quality manicures in Palms. They are appointment only given how absolutely tiny and basic the salon inside is (2 manicure stations and 3 pedicure chairs only) so please be respectful and don't try to walk in. They are very responsive with texting back and calling, and CASH ONLY. All four of the ladies who work here are extremely nice and hard-working, they always make sure I'm 100% happy with my service and will even re-fill your meter parking for you if your appt runs overtime. I love this place :) I originally came in for just a removal from another set but once I was there and saw how many cute colors they had (which btw they have a huge variety of cute colors, chromes, glitters and designs you can choose from), I decided I actually wanted to get gel nails too. They seemed pretty busy so I felt bad asking but Ivy was so nice and said if I was ok waiting 10 mins she could do the gel for me too. Everyone here is so nice and respectful. I am so happy with the result of my nails. I ended up doing a light blue with chrome and I LOVE them they turned out so cute! :) Ivy did such an amazing job with everything, I love the shape and color and also she was so sweet and made it a really good experience for me. They are very thorough with cleaning up your cuticles as well which I really appreciate. At the end of the service, she even gave me a little holiday gift which was unexpected but so so thoughtful and sweet and it really showed me that the women here really care about their clients, which is so nice and in my experience isn't a common thing at nail salons. I made an appointment for 12:00 a few days in advance for a mani pedi. I arrived 5-10 minutes early. They didn't take me till 12:30. Ivy did a good job on the manicure shaping and polishing but the side of one of my thumbs is hurting. I think she may have trimmed the cuticle too much. The lady who did my pedicure, don't know her name, she has short hair and glasses was very rough. Usually getting a pedi is a pleasant experience. This was very uncomfortable and even painful at times. Ivy kept asking if I was OK because I kept grimacing in pain during the pedi. Been looking for a nail salon in West LA for years and have yet to find one that I like. Made an appointment for a gel mani and regular pedi and was seen immediately! Be sure to make an appointment as the space is small. Street parking and meters are available nearby. I currently am unable to talk, but the staff was incredibly patient and we even used Google Translate to talk to each other! They made sure I was getting exactly what I wanted with my nails. They cleaned up my nails extremely well and shaped them perfectly! The only thing is the lady doing my pedicure was a little rough and one of my toes was hurting for a few days after from her digging lol. Not only did you forget to put planners on my fingers she cut my nails so short. Which I asked her not to do. Other than that they piled so many layers of dip over my nails that now it looks like a child put Plato on them. They are filed in every which way. They are chipped and all over the place. The cost came out to be $27 for a gel removal + basic gel manicure, which is a really good price! However, this nail salon doesn't have the best ambience. I knew this wasn't a fancy salon, but I still had standards when it came to sanitation. There were flies flying around, the towels seemed dirty, and the cleanliness of their nail tools were questionable.
