Although Fajita Pete's is a chain, it doesn't feel like one. The service was very friendly and personable. It was our first time visiting and the cashier was happy to explain the menu. We ordered the chicken pico and the combo fajitas with shrimp and chicken. Both orders came with rice, beans, and chips and salsa. The chips weren't overly salty which I was happy about! The food was very tasty. Both the chicken and shrimp were flavorful. The chicken was juicy and tender. We weren't able to finish our plates it was so filling! The staff were super friendly and checked on us several times. It's a casual chain restaurant similar to Chipotle or Qdoba, with the exception of a little bar serving beers and flavored margaritas. The salsa was too tomatoey base. Not the chunks but it had a paste flavor to it. Not a fan. The chips were good. The Margarita was not bad, did get a brain freeze; I think their house is only frozen. Had a steak and chicken taco. Not bad! Did not care for the beans and liked the rice, not over flavored or dry! I will try it again. A small place, clean and simple inside. This evening, my husband and I visited this restaurant to order takeout. The restaurant had several tables in a small space. As I stood in line at the cash register, I repeatedly had to move out of the way so that employees could walk past and bring food to the other customers at the tables. Our cashier was smiley and spoke nicely to us. The menu listed foods such as fajitas (e.g., chicken, carnitas/pork, beef, shrimp, veggie, and mixed), burritos, flautas, tacos, quesadillas, salads, tortilla chips with queso and quacamole, and churros. This restaurant also serves alcoholic beverages such as beers and margaritas. My husband and I ordered our food. The cashier could not get her credit-card machine to work, but she got a different machine to accept our payment. She told us that our wait would be about 15 minutes. I did not time our wait, but it was much longer. My husband and I ate our foods at home. Here are our reviews for the foods: Chicken fajitas - 3.5 stars - My husband ate this entree. He said that he was glad that he tried it and that it was filling, but he would not order it again soon. He said that because the business has "fajita" in its name, then it should make higher-quality fajitas. He liked the side of beans, and he described the rice as OK. Chicken quesadilla - 3.5 stars - My quesadilla was cut into four pieces. One of the pieces contained almost no chicken. A good amount of cheese was included in all of the pieces. The ingredients were fresh. I liked this quesadilla, but I expected it to taste better. My beans did not look appetizing, but they tasted good. The rice tasted OK, and I took a few bites of it. Very small restaurant seats less than 20 customers. I was surprised by the price point ($18 for shrimp fajitas). I had a 1 person serving - shrimp fajitas, 4 wraps, double rice, and delicious toppings that included really good guacamole. It made 3 large fajitas. I have never tasted a wrap like this one. Doughy, but light served warmed. Did I mention to go margaritas? I ordered chips and queso. Chose the medium queso came with a tiny bag of chips. There is a rewards program. The salsa tastes like tomato sauce and is served hot. Tastes awful. I asked if they have chilled salsa and they said no. The refried beans seem like they are puréed. Only have one kind of hot sauce. The meals are served on pre used plastic plates with knife marks sliced in them. I asked the cashier if the fajitas are the only selection they serve with shrimp and she said she has no idea. Ordered a mixed fajita where you can pick 2 of the proteins, ordered the shrimp and carnitas. You get lot to eating everything came out piping hot. Probably enough for 2 people. Ordered the house made corn tortillas. The fajitas come with chips and salsa, pico, refried beans, some lettuce, cheese, and guac, and some rice. Built my fajitas and enjoyed the shrimp and carnitas. Ordered a La Familia bundle and I must say it was one of the best pack-ups ever! Everything was excellent! Perfect steak and chicken, and the BOMB queso!! The staff was friendly, asked if I needed utensils and assured me everything was included in the bag when it was brought out. This was a takeout order today, but I'd like to come back to dine in the restaurant. The dining room is simple and clean and the bar was a nice place to sit waiting for my order. Holy Moly!! I got takeout, took this home, and decided tomorrow I'll be sitting at the bar. This team is serving up fresh, hot food that is worth its weight in gold, literally. I got into some chicken and beef fajitas, flautas, and a to go frozen marg. The size of Texas and the quality of a southern belle. That meal knocked my socks off. I don't know what they marinate that beef with but it reveals it's flavor in such a pristine way. The chicken is perfectly cooked served hot and ready. And that margarita was to die for. Not too sweet but the perfect flavor for a classic frozen. This service and ambiance was exceptional from what I saw. Chris and Brittany, dual owners from what I understand. Disappointed, was really looking forward to the opening of this place. Fajitas for Two - Beef - $38, enough for 1 person, maybe with a little extra, no where near enough for two. Cheaper at every other restaurant nearby and you get way more at those places. Definitely not worth the cost. Onions undercooked and there are two slivers of peppers in these. They don't list peppers on the menu so can't be too upset by that but everywhere else gives you peppers and onions, not just onions. Our flour tortillas were also completely raw, smelled like raw dough, chewy, and felt too unsafe to eat. Thankfully we had some extra tortillas left over from another place so we were still able to eat our food but that was extremely disappointing. Queso and salsa are decent, not the best out there. Queso is not worth $9 for a medium cup with chips. Overall, would probably not eat here again. read more

Y'all! We just moved here from Houston TX over a month ago and have tried and tried to find legit Tex-mex and NO ONE has it. It's all gross stewed chicken. By some miracle we stumbled upon Fajita Pete's and stopped in with low expectations. To our disbelief the chicken was actually grilled and so good! Delicious homemade tortillas and guacamole. Awesome sides. My kids even said they wanted to cry that we finally found a spot. It is seriously that good. Price is totally average for good Tex-Mex. I'd even pay more but don't tell them that. So happy to see Tex Mex brought to Pittsburgh! The food is tremendous - chicken, steak and shrimp fajitas fresh and piping hot at your table with grilled onions and a jalapeño. The flautas (we call taquitos in Pittsburgh) are delicious and come with rice and beans. The queso, guacamole, chips and salsa are all made fresh in house. The homemade tortillas are outstanding! They set apart a good Tex Mex restaurant vs Mexican restaurants serving premade tortillas that don't hold up to fajitas. There's just nothing like fresh flour tortillas. When I learned we could get some at Fajita Pete's, I added it to our list of places to try. My husband and I were doing some shopping on a Saturday afternoon at The Block and decided to grab lunch. It's definitely a tiny spot - I believe their business model prioritizes to-go and catering, so that's not surprising. We were able to get seats at the bar & received great service. This isn't Chipotle or Moe's; if you're looking for fast casual, this probably won't meet your expectations. It's cooked to order, INCLUDING (most importantly!) the tortillas. It took probably 20 minutes to get our food. In the meantime, we snacked on chips and fresh salsa, both warm, and the owner gave us samples of their frozen margaritas, which are also available to go. We shared the chicken and beef fajitas for two and an order of churros. We didn't leave with leftovers, but we also didn't leave hungry. We will definitely be back.
