We felt a little adventurous & surprised some of the my other haunts we were closed. We decided on Falafel Dream! The owner was attentive and willing to assist in our selection. A no frills eating spot with various visual menu's to help you decide on what meal you will want to enjoy. This was our first time here. We selected a sort of combination plate with skewers of Beef, Lamb & Chicken. Was Pleasantly impressed on how delicious our meals were. When looking for a more middle esteem meal, do recommend Falafel Dream. Enjoy!

Well I have passed by this place whenever I go to just tires to get my two vehicles inspected and maintained if not repaired and always looking at this Mediterranean if not Middle Eastern casual restaurant tucked away at the Harlem and Irving plaza or hip. I'm surprised how norridge as well as this part of Chicago has a lot of Middle eastern or as they say Mediterranean restaurants popping about not like it was 10 or 15 years ago. Anyways I was hungry and I couldn't wait anymore from just tires inspecting my car so I went to try this out instead of going to KFC across the street or Arby's or Wendy's on Harlem or on Irving Park. I decided to make a bucket list and give this place a try for lunch. Service was a bit slow but then again I came around 1140 am. They had your typical hummas, lentil soup that I ordered and a grilled combo. They had a schwarma combo but they were out of chicken which was a disappointment. I didn't care for falafel despite the name of the restaurant. Anyways 3 stars because of the service. Also this restaurant has no washroom despite being a place to sit and dine in if you are not carrying out. Also they did not offer water in a cup and from the tap

Falafel Dream was a-okay! We love another Mediterranean place in our area, but wanted something a little cheaper, and, well, it was cheaper, but the quality was also a little less. We really loved the falafel itself, and the pita was great. The hummus was very.... earthy? I'm not sure how to describe it, but not our fave. The chicken was a little dry, and the two accompanying salads were just that; more of a plate filler. We didn't think Falafel Dream was amazing, but we also didn't hate it. We would probably spend the couple extra bucks and stick to our favorite place in the future.

Chance upon this grab and go restaurant. It is beside a halal grocery store. . Place: order counter, has take outs, only few chairs. Grab and go place. Has some parking spaces. Food: Grilled fresh kebabs. Kefta kebabs are flavorful. Chicken kebabs are tender. Garlic white sauce is thick and yummy! Good portion size. Shawarma has some nice crispy bits and well cooked and tender, some crispy fatty bits as well. Nicely flavored!! We ordered take away here during Covid and it wasn't really memorable. Like it wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. I ordered the chicken kabab entree and I enjoyed it. The rice and sides were pretty good. I didn't eat the pita bread so I can't comment on that :)

My first time experience and food choice with this restaurant was poor. $41.00 plus dollars thrown down the drained I feel like I have taken advantage of...Honestly, the pita bread was more moist than the dish alone. Sandwiches are reasonably priced but you do not get anything with the sandwiches. Unless you order a combo sandwich.

DIRTY TABLES, GOOD FOOD, POOR SERVICE We went here for a very late lunch Wednesday, July 24, at 3:35 p.m. I ordered the chicken schwarma with hummus for $7.99 and my husband had the beef sandwich for $6.99. Where, oh where, do I begin?!?! The food was good, but the service was horendous. Not spectacular enough to get me to return again. My chicken, although flavorful, was dry. I even found bones in my chicken. The service was very, very poor -- almost non-existent -- in one word: Awful When we walked into the restaurant it was very, very warm. It was actually cooler outside than it was inside! No matter which table we picked they were all dirty. A young man was on his phone taking a food order. We waited, waited, waited and were ignored for 5 minutes until he finished his phone call. No apology. No greeting. No smile. No personality. Nothing! We requested 2 cups of water which they forgot to give us. We walked up to the counter and no one was at the front counter. Again. Waited. Waited. Waited. I wondered if they were in the back doing a hooka (...and I'm not talking about a hooker here). Finally, someone came out from the back room and we got our H2O. OMFG! The water was almost hot to the taste. I couldn't even drink it because it was warmer than room temperature. Their forks, spoons and knives are flimsy white plastic, and out in the open where anyone can sneeze or cough on them. Sanitary? I don't think so -- disgusting. Fortunately, I remembered I had plastic covered utensils from another restaurant with me. I used my own utensils. The hummus was ok. I prefer the hummus from the Sultan Restaurant which tastes very, very fresh and is much more flavorful. I was eating my chicken when I realized I had a bone in my mouth. I spit it out into a napkin. I ate more of my meal and the same thing happened. Another bone! The pita bread was very fresh and served cold. Please serve it warm! At that point my husband asked me, "What's wrong?" I told him I have never had chicken at a Middle Eastern restaurant that contains bones in the chicken. I couldn't eat anymore. My husband finished it off. We ordered a 6 piece falafel "to go." I didn't want to sit in a very hot restaurant any longer than I had to. The falafel had a crispy exterior with a semi-moist interior. Flavorless. Bland. When they delivered our food to the table there was no "Enjoy" -- not even a smile. Customer service here is non-existent. The food was good, but not outstanding. Portions were decent. The tables were all dirty. They weren't busy when we arrived, so there is no excuse for dirty tables with lunch crowd stains on the cheap plastic Dollar Store tablecloth. There was a young couple with two unruly screaming toddlers. I wanted to eat quickly and leave. At one point, the mother stepped outside the restaurant with one of the out-of-control kids. I love kids, but if you cannot control your child in a restaurant hire a babysitter or order food "To Go !" We went here based on the so-called rave Yelp reviews. We had high expectations and were excited to try a new place. Needless to say Falafel Dream did not meet our expectations. It was a huge let down. Based on the above I must give Falafel Dream 3 stars. Service and customer service: 1 star Parking is free with a super small parking lot (only room for 6 or 7 vehicles). The restaurant is located on the west side of Harlem Ave. & across the street from a KFC, a tiny bit south of Irving Park Rd. Look for the large white sign with green letters: "Falafel Dream"

I really hate to leave a bad review but it is what it is. I was really craving some hummus and my usual place is closed. I'm sitting here still craving my hummus. This place has the worst hummus ever. I can't even describe how bad it is. It's so bland and paste-like. I would imagine this is what spackle tastes like. Chicken schwarma wasn't much better and even the pita was weird...it's like wonder bread. read more

This was my first time trying this place out and it was pretty good! I ordered the falafel pita sandwich and the falafel plate that comes with rice and cucumber salad. The sandwich with all the veggies and sauce was excellent! The mix of flavors and textures really did it for me. Although the sandwich was great, the falafel alone was a bit too dry but eating it together with the rice and salad really balanced it out. It was a rainy day, but that didn't delay the delivery at all! I actually got it earlier then expected! Overall, this was a good meal and would definitely order again! read more

The staff was very pleasant. I've eaten at several Middle Eastern restaurants in the extended area and would say the flavor of this restaurants food was different. Although I didn't enjoy it as much as other similar restaurants I've been to, the food was fine. Maybe this food is more authentic or just from a different region then what I'm used to. My one daughter enjoyed it, while the other daughter preferred prior restaurants. read more

I randomly came across this place and decided to give it a shot. Turns out the food was ok, they were nice enough to even give me an extra soup, which was delicious. The shawarma was not so good. Although, this was takeout, I still think people in the kitchen should have worn masks, which they didn't. read more

I walked in not knowing what expect. It's a small place with a small parking lot but found parking easy! I ordered a lunch plate and waiting very short time. The cook brought my food out which was cool. Then I looked at my plate! Wow! This is big! The fries were seasoned perfect! The falafel on pita was so good you can taste the love put into this food. Then on the side they gave me some meats! I eat meat once a week and this is the day! I loved it! This is authentic Middle East fast food! I'll be back!!! read more

This was disappointing. (Maybe it was an off day.) I ordered the vegetarian combo to go. When I got home, I found I had only one half of a pita bread, no baba ganoush and no tahini sauce. I kept thinking that the double dose of hummos must two different kinds, but no, they were exactly the same. However, the rice and falafel were fabulous! I loved finding a whole cardamon seed in the rice. I'll give them anther try soon. read more

Delicious food overall but love the stuffed falafel and garlic kefir cheese on the side with the tahini. Love how the shawarma sandwich is cooked on the flat top. Crispy on the outside, tender morsels of chicken inside. Big pate of humus for 3 bucks. Yum! read more

This is a slam dunk right here. First off, the quality and quantity of food is a good value...I spent $20 to get a falafel meal plus hummus delivered, and I feel like I most certainly got what I paid for. Now, the important stuff - the food. Holy bananas, folks...I've had a lot of Middle Eastern food in Chicago, and this might be the best. The falafels themselves were PERFECT - ideally crisp on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. The green color is also a giveaway that they use fresh chickpeas rather than canned or dried. The hummus is decent; maybe not my favorite, and perhaps I'll try the baba next time. The Jerusalem salad and fattoush are both fresh and well prepared - not overly oiled, right amount of herbage, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. And then there's the rice. Rice is not normally an exciting part of a plate at a Middle Eastern restaurant - an expected one, but not typically a star. It's the background starch. Not here. This is the best rice I've ever had from just about any restaurant - cardamom scented, lightly spiced with saffron, just a little hint of butter or oil. It's actually rice you want to eat with your food. All in all, this was a great meal and I will most certainly be trying out more of the menu in the future! read more

Ordered delivery through yelp but order was not received by the restaurant but they took my order over the phone. The order arrived at the promised time. The meal was very generous in size but it lacked flavor. The chicken and beef were both over-cooked and dry. Being unfamiliar with the menu I probably ordered the wrong things. read more

Decided to try this place out, Wow! I've travelled the world and have had many different versions of "middle eastern" food and especially so in this neighborhood. More and more of a middle eastern presence is being seen in the Dunning area, considering the competition Falafel dream does not disappoint. I decided on trying the combo plate for $9.99. 2 skewers of kefta kabob 2 skewers of chicken kefta kabob ( a first for me) and a few grilled chunks of saffron marinated grilled chicken. All atop a fragrant and heavily spiced basmati rice. All of this plus a Jerusalem and tabouleh salad for $9.99!! What a deal!! Everything tastes amazing especially the chicken kefta kabob. I've always had beef/lamb kefta but the chicken kefta is so amazingly seasoned that I just couldn't get enough!! To make a small critique the beef kefta was a little bit dry but still tasted great. The salads where fresh and cool a prefect accompaniment to the heavily spiced and fragrant meats. Definitely coming back!!! read more

Tried for the first time today. I ate at the restaurant, bright and clean interior. There's about 4-5 tables. Food is fantastic! I got the shawarma chicken salad (with half jerusalem and half tabbouleh), side of hummus and two stuffed falafels. The presentation was beautiful! The salad and hummus were delicious and the stuffed falafel was nice and crispy with just the right amount of spiciness. Enough food that I had to take the rest to go. The staff is very friendly. I've been here too many times to count their salads, falafel, hummus, shawarma, kefta... All of it delicious and made fresh. Pick up and deliver is quick and the staff is always very nice. I suggest basically anything from the menu, but always get their falafel anytime I go. read more

Stopped in yesterday and and ordered the beef shawarma. I was so excited have not had one sense San Francisco. I took a few bites it was delicious however was too spicy for me. Not much for atmosphere (typical of Chicago fast casual )and the plastic silverware has something to be desired but the food was delicious. With great spices and a sweet couple of tea. Amazing food, fresh and well made. Slowish service, so order ahead for pickup. Rating based on location and parkinglot. Parking lot is literally 5 spaces that are always full. Bring someone to drive/double park while you run in to pickup your order, or be prepared to walk a couple of blocks (permit parking surrounded). read more

Ordered delivery, the guy was on time and friendly. The food was very plentiful, I got the beef schwarma and a hummus with pita bread. There was enough food to have for lunch the next day! The flavors were decent, not amazing. It was way more rice than meat, it was a quarter cup of half inch long pencil thin strips on a 2 cup bed of rice. The meat was a bit bland but the rice was fluffy and tasty. The hummus was the best part and there was a lot of it, thankfully. Not sure I'll order again here. read more

Super clean. attractive and fresh casual restaurant attached to a Middle Eastern market. Perfect variety of mostly typical entrees but delicious taste, presentation and music in the background. Prices are right where they should be to offer such healthy and tasty Fresh food in a fast time frame. The staff is very accommodating and welcoming. So glad I saw this place on the way to work. Agar a sandwich Chicken kebab only for $6 you cannot beat the price the kitchen looks very small but the guy makes good sandwiches the interior of the place could use some upgrading but you're not looking for High end Place This is very good place to heaven With or Go to Delhi which is located next door read more

It took 45 mins to get our first dish, which was the halibut. First, just want to comment that the portion size is quite small relative to the price of the dishes. The halibut. This was very delicious. Somehow the blueberry nuoc cham works? The fish was tender and flaky. The sauce was salty and full of umami with a hint of blueberry sweetness. This fish dish made me crave for a bowl of steaming hot bfluffy white rice. The string beans. Unless you are allergic to nuts, this is a must get dish. Perfectly cooked string beans (still crispy but not raw) sautéed with fish sauce vinaigrette was an absolute delight. It's also on the salty side which made me crave rice but it's such a flavor bomb. The cashews provided a contrast in texture but yet complemented the seemingly simple dish. I wish the portions were bigger. The galbi. It's was good but compared to the first 2 dishes, didn't really wow me. The meat was one rib strip (4 rib bones) cut into 4 pieces so it's a rather small portion for the price. The stone fruit slices was a nice pairing in that it provided a sweet and tart contrast to the heavier meat flavor. After trying this dish, I felt I personally prefer the LA galbi marinade flavor and preparation for short ribs. Overall, I'm glad I got to try this place. Would come back for the string beans on a splurge day .

It was a very heavy dish, especially for an appetizer, and I'm glad I had a dining partner to share it with. The tingmo shone because of the spicy tomato sauce. The sauce was bold, perfectly seasoned and light. We asked for a second serving of the sauce because we liked it so much. The bhatura was one of the crispiest bhaturas I have ever had the pleasure of trying - it paired especially well with the aloo from the thali. All the dishes in the thali were delicious, from the dal to the kheer. We received a complimentary gajar ka halva. It was incredibly creamy and decadent. The woman who served us was friendly and warm. She made sure we were well taken care of, and repeatedly checked in on us. The ambiance was simple but clean. This was one of my best meals in Chicago. I personally liked adding the chili sauce on top. Macorrona Bechamel: Our favorite dish. It tasted like Mac and cheese but the flavors are even more nuanced and complex. Wow! That was way better than I could have hoped. The combo plate had chicken, chicken kefta, beef kefta, tabouleh salad, and some cucumber stuff. It was all very good. We also tried the stuffed falafels out of curiosity, stuffed with some spicy red peppery stuff, amazing! Really well done. We got an order of baba ghannouj and wow, so good, really taste the roasted eggplant (in a good way). To top it off, we spent over $25 so they gave us free soup, lentil soup, maybe the best lentil soup I've ever had. Couldn't be happier to have this place near me. Great job. read more

To me the best thing I ate there is the shawarma, don't get me wrong everything is good but I'm more of a shawarma guy! I'm middle eastern, know about shawarma and tasted a lot of shawarma and their shawarma is on my Top 3 to be honest!! I highly recommend this place!
