The space was very nice and expected for a major hotel restaurant. They had a reasonable selection and everything we had was pretty good (there were 3 of us). One in our party was not a fan of the chicken sausage, otherwise all the food was pretty good. Service was good as well. read more

This restaurant is located inside the Marriott hotel and for that reason I never considered visiting. We were attending a concert at the National and this restaurant was the close by. We were happy with our choice. A little pricey but the food we had was good. We started with the skillet cornbread which was just ok. My friend had the burger which was tasty and I had a Caesar salad which was good with a smidge too much dressing. We were full when we saw the dessert menu but everything on there looked delicious. Next time I would save room for dessert. Good service and a nice atmosphere. One downside was there are no restrooms in the restaurant, you have to walk across the lobby to to go to the restroom. read more

The vibe in the Fall Line matches perfectly with the Marriott, and the service really made it stand out. People were simply good-hearted and genuine even after a long day (I left after the restaurant closed). Bryce my server was perfectly attentive, and Ivy the hostess could tell I was in a chatty mood and was conversational. Thank you for making my last dinner in Richmond that much more enjoyable! I particularly enjoyed the wine options, favoring most their Tempranillo. The meal was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The steak was cooked to perfection--exactly rare, with a warm red center and a beautifully seared crust that showed real care from the kitchen. Every bite was tender, flavorful, and seasoned just right. The sides complemented it perfectly, and the in-house key lime pie was the perfect ending and maybe the best part was the crust: it has a distinctly autumnal flavor. The wedge was closer to a cobb and that is a good thing. Much fuller flavors than most wedges. read more

Was in town for my birthday . Wanted breakfast without having to go all the way in downtown. Found this spot online. The location is in a nice area. Beautiful corner lot. Walked in and it was BEAUTIFUL. Loved the vibe. Went between 11-2. Ordered the hush puppies the pasta and turkey club SW. The food was great and good portions. Unfortunately the service from our waitress is what ruined it. I was going to give it 3 stars because that's how uncomfortable our server made us feel but the atmosphere and food was good so I won't take it out. But our server had an attitude she didn't greet us no smile. Pretty aggressive and just made us want to leave. She was the bartender too she had red hair/braid or dreads. She didn't seem happy to be there at all. Being on vacation you want positive vibes and specially if you work in a hotel restaurant guest are happy to be out and want top tier service and it was not given to us. One guy was really nice looked to be the manager so that was nice. Overall I say try this place but I don't recommend that server she needs more training and to be more welcoming. read more

Overall fall line kitchen & bar has a lot going for it. While it had a lot of positives going for it during our evening out, a couple negatives make me hesitant to make an effort to go back. A big negative for me is the $10 parking. Not a lot of street parking because of where it's located so we had to park in the garage. Maybe we could've found parking many blocks away but with a person in our party being over 80 that was not a great option. I guess we could've dropped some people off but wasn't ideal. The entrance is mobility friendly, however but you do have to walk a mile to find the restroom since it's not located in the restaurant but in the hotel by the escalators. FLK has a sleek modern vibe going on with some incredibly cool plastic bubble igloos out front that look kind of fun for special occasions. It looked like they were dressed up for different events inside. The bee keeper cocktail sounded great, but was not very interesting given all its potential in the ingredients (rye with honey, blueberry reduction, lemon juice, and aquafaba )1. Not sure what was off, but it wasn't good enough to waste the calories. The server was incredibly friendly, but I did think it odd they didn't notice the cocktail was pretty much untouched, even by the time entrées arrived. When we asked for it to be cleared we were then offered a substitute, but it was a little late to enjoy any kind of cocktail. It was not comped. Appetizers-the fried oyster special was delicious and definitely worth the hype the server gave it. The tomato Sofrito at the base was the star so you really had to dig in there and get it with your bite. I'm t was a one bite kind of appetizer. It also had garlic aïoli, peppers and pimento. Lump crab Hush puppies - just OK. Again, considering the ingredients it sounded great, but the citrus aïoli was too thick and lacking flavor to make up for the tremendous amount of dough. Burnt ends- this was a short rib brisket, but it had too many fatty pieces and the House made barbecue sauce was nothing special. The pickled onions helped make this a little more enjoyable. I would only order the oysters again but that was a special so probably won't be there. Entrées : the Shrimp and grits was good. Had a nice rich flavor with a decent amount of shrimp and the grits were cooked well. A lot richer than I was expecting, but not in a bad way. 16 ounce Dry aged NY strip-- this was a special item on the menu and definitely earned its classification. Expertly prepared and accompanied by a complex and delicate black truffle Madeira pan jus. The regular item menu of Truffled Bucatini with with Parmesan pecorino and black pepper was also a delight. Pretty sure it was homemade pasta and the sauce was amazing. Would definitely order this again since it's on the regular menu. We paired it with the New York strip because we really like a decent protein with dinner. I was too full to sample the short rib, but was told it was very good and it definitely looked tasty. read more

Came to Fall Line Kitchen on a Friday night with 4 friends! The restaurant is actually inside of a Marriott Hotel, but don't let that scare you away. We started with the burrata appetizer (unfortunately not pictured), could not recommend it enough, huge crowd pleaser. Lots of salads for dinner.. the ceasar salads were delicious and perfectly dressed! On the other hand the harvest salad was a bit overpowered with lemon. The truffle pasta was amazing, nice and lite but also super filling and flavorful. Also the chicken entree...no notes. Now let me tell you about the gooey butter cake.. absolutely impeccable and we are all still thinking about it. Lastly, we had the pleasure of being served by Gabby and she was lovely! read more

Don't know anything about dietary restrictions but the butter cake. Very relaxed vibe and perfect for a quiet easy brunch. The Bloody Mary has just the right amount of kick to last a bit after each sip. I asked my server, Akhai, if he preferred the Seven Hills Cheeseburger or the Chicken Sausage sandwich (the chicken sausage has a jalapeño relish that was calling to me) and he suggested the burger. The double patty and bedding made it a mouthful and it was so so tasty. It was exactly what I needed to start my day right. The restaurant is inside a hotel. We didn't realize it when choosing this establishment but based on their reviews... we kept an open mind. I found it more of a 3.5 star... We were greeted and seated quickly. The menu had a nice variety. We came in town for a graduation. We came in hungry. Hush puppy crab cakes- they were ok. Couldn't really taste the crab. Cornbread- was good Belly pork chop- it was ok, if you like it really sweet... I enjoyed the carrots more which came as its side. Fried chicken- nice and crispy, pretty generous serving and not salty which I thought was good. Not a good experience for the price. Although our server was very sweet, this restaurant was very understaffed. It took 15 minutes until we were greeted and took over 2 hours until we finally got our bill. The food was ok, definitely not worthy of the price. We had the hush puppies, which were good, chowder was sup par. My wife got the short rib which was basic and I got an undercooked steak that was well below average. I gave a 40% tip because I felt bad for the server who had to many tables. Not sure what all the good reviews of this place are for. I'd rather go to TGI Fridays. Will not be returning. read more

I was encouraged to try Fall Line from all of the positive reviews, but overall I was underwhelmed. Nothing stood out as particularly noteworthy, and I ultimately would have expected better food for the price (a $20 cheeseburger and a $30 salmon that were....fine). It wasn't a bad meal, but it didn't leave me wanting to come back, either. Went here on a Sunday morning about 7:30 am. There was no one at the reception area. Had to wait for about 8 minutes before I got seated. There was only one person, Peyton, who is having people seated, taking orders, and serving at that time. There were only 2 parties in the restaurant at that time. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere. Another person arrived to help her at around 8 am. Other than this wait, food was great! French toast was yummy. Spinach and mushroom omelet was delicious. Lemme tell yall something...Maya is a freaking GEM. Suggestions were on point. Drinks, fire. Food, made me dance in my seat. Dessert, my god. Loved it all and will be back for that Golden Hour! We got the shishito peppers which had a yummy light creamy sauce, burrata and toast which had a good pesto under the burrata plus the bread was fresh, we each got French onion soup and a salad. While staying at the Marriott we came here a couple of nights for nightcaps after having dinner elsewhere. We sat at the bar each time and didn't eat here, only drank. The food we did see looked pretty nice though. The bartender is a bourbon aficionado too and they have a nice selection of bottles here. Drinks and atmosphere were decent. By this time we were so desperate for cool, we didn't argue that we had requested INSIDE not whatever this room was. It ended up being like sitting in a tuna can. So uncomfortable, my husband and bro in law just went and sat in the car with the AC blasting. Waitress was sporadic to put it nicely. Meanwhile, back inside the booth across from the hostess stand was still empty. Food was fine. But I don't think this place will be around much longer.

We were off to a good start. I ordered an Arnold Palmer and some catfish nuggets. Now, I knew I was in the right place when my server brought me TWO glasses of the most perfectly made Arnold Palmer. Two. Glasses. Start the happy dance. While I waited for my food, I looked around at the old photographs and magazine covers featuring Mama J's. It all made sense. Maryland swears they have the best crab cakes. No ma'am. No sir. The best crab cake is sitting on Clay Street, about a mile from the James River, in Jackson Ward, the Harlem of the South. And the fries? HOT. You know that perfect fry: crispy on the outside, soft in the center? Yeah. Those. At this point, I was full and getting sleepy at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. But apparently that wasn't enough because I ordered some potato salad to go so I could top off tomorrow's lunch. Because priorities. I left Mama J's full as a tick. Came home. My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary here. Everything was wonderful, from the food, to the service, and the atmosphere. We ate on the patio in one of their adorable gazebos. We were tucked in the back corner, and that helped it to feel a little more intimate. There was an up charge to use the gazebo, but it wasn't much and I would say it was worth it. It just made things feel a little more special. The gazebo was decorated with plants, greenery, and our own person water fountain. I would choose to sit there again! Our server Kim, was friendly and knowledgeable. She is exactly the kind of server you want, and I could tell that she was an experienced. She knew just when to show up when we needed her, but didn't hover and left us to chat and enjoy our food. She also had excellent recommendations. Saving the best for last...the food!! Everything was over the top good! I don't usually hype the food in reviews like this. I actually don't typically write reviews, but Fall Line earned this one! We started off with a lovely glass of wine (Kim's recommendation) and my husband had a Fall Line Old Fashioned. He raves about the old fashioned. It was made with their house barrel of Woodford Reserve, which we both agreed was delicious and super smooth. Our appetizers were the oysters and the burrata, and they were both very good. The pesto that came with the burrata was bright and fresh! It is a simple dish, but with a few really high quality, fresh ingredients that were well plated, it turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise! I think dinner was our favorite course! My husband has the Duroc Pork Chop. He said it was delicious!! The best pork chop he has ever had!! It was paired with some tasty charred heirloom carrots and topped with roasted shredded brussel sprouts. It just worked! I had the Truffled Bucatini. There are no words!! This is the best pasta dish I have had in the Richmond and I have lived here most of my life, and eaten at many high end restaurants here. This dish is cheesey, creamy, and has a hint of lemon. The truffles add another level of deliciousness to the flavor profile. The dish is on the simple side, but the chef clearly knows what he or she is doing! I will take simple, fresh, well paired ingredients that make up an over the top amazing dish over some pretentious menu full of things that sound super fancy, but end up being just pretty good any day of the week. Well done, chef!! If I were the kind of person that asked to speak to the chef, I would have had you at our table and given you high praise on a fantastic meal from start to finish. I am not that kind of person, but think you must be a class act! Keep up the outstanding work!! The dessert was also, amazing!! We made reservations for outdoor seating via open table over a month ago, assuming that meant one of the igloos as there is no ther outdoor seating. In the notes section of the reservation we mentioned "igloo" just to be safe. My kids were so excited! We drive by a lot, so over the last few weeks they would comment each time - "thats going to be so cool!" When we arrived, the hostess told us that "outside" did not mean igloo. It meant inside by the window. very confusing! she said that unfortunately the igloos were booked, but she would send the manager over to discuss making it right somehow. The manager never came. At the end of the meal our server asked how everything was and I again expressed my frustration, especially since we saw one of the igloos was empty the entire time we were there, and another opened up and remained empty after we had been there about 15 minutes. She said we would mention to the manager. My mom saw the server and manager laughing really hard about something before she came to our table, which didn't feel good. Then the manager approached with a terse tone and told us outside reservations don't mean outside, you have to book it as winter wonderland (which is not even an option on open table, so how would we know that?) No smile, no warmth, no graciousness. It felt like she was mad at us and it was very uncomfortable. I asked why those igloo tables sat empty while we were there and she said they hadn't - that we had seen incorrectly. Baffling! as we were right by the window and could clearly see. She also said someone had called us to tell us we made the reservation incorrectly but we never called back. i swear they didn't! it was confrontational and unwelcoming...and really expensive for the quality of the food. it would have been worth it for the fun of eating in an igloo but I would not go otherwise. they also are unaccomodating with substitutions - wouldn't swap mashed potatoes for fries. We have been dying to try out Fall/Line since we first heard about it on Instagram, and a celebratory night out was just the thing! We were seated by hostesses Azia and Diamond, who were positively delightful and made sure that our entire party was seated at the right table (we arrived separately) and all had menus and knew who our server was before she showed up. We enjoyed 4 appetizers between 2 couples as a "small plates" kind of starter, and then had 3 dishes between the 4 of us. We highly recommend the pimento fritters and the burnt ends. The Wagyu Flat Iron Frites is, in our opinion, the best choice on the menu for dinner, but we will be coming back to try other dishes to make sure. I have tried just about every restaurant in RVA and this is in my TOP 5 now! me and my husband and our friends came and had a little double date shing dig this past Saturday! first of all our server was great I'm sad we didn't get his name!! We got the hush puppies and dip for starters and when I say AMAZINGGG. AMAZING. did main course, I got roasted chicken which was 10/10 whoever made that needs an raise.. my husband got the mushroom bolognese which he was a little scared to get because it had no meat but he loves bolognese so he insist on getting it.. This restaurant, located inside the Richmond Marriot hotel, is 5/5 stars. Most importantly, one server there - Nicole B, is heads above many servers I've ever seen. I went for dinner and she was handling seated guests, guests at the high tops, and guests at the bar. She did an amazing job getting everyone their food and drinks quickly all while being incredibly gracious and hospitable. Amazing waitress and I can't praise her service enough. Meanwhile, the food was to die for. I've never had a more delicious pork chop and strip steak in my life! While the price was a bit high, it is worth every cent. Belly-on pork chop was $46 and NY strip steak was $54. They also have an amazing bourbon/whiskey selection. The ambiance is very nice - a more upscale, dimly lit, and intimate setting. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys delicious western-fare. They also offer a military discount which was a nice added bonus. read more

Fall Line is inside of the Marriott Hotel on Broad Street in Richmond. The food is delicious, service was fantastic and the atmosphere was classy yet very contemporary. For starters we got the BLT deviled eggs and the skillet cornbread w/ honey butter, both of these items were FANTASTIC. Also they are featured on half price happy hour that is between 3p-7p. For our main meals, we got their classic cheeseburger/ fries and their Shrimp and Grits, both entrees were very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Came in on a whim for some happy hour drinks and enjoyed a lovely evening of dinner! The lump crab hush puppies and BLT Devilled eggs were divine and had lovely citrus flavours for springtime! :) The Burnt Ends are tender, juicy, and the pickled onions add the perfect acidity! We both enjoyed salmon on top of the entrees and highly recommend the addition. :) Desserts we're just as good, highly recommend the Key Lime Pie. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere. My boyfriend and I sat outside in one of the igloos and it was such a unique experience. It felt like we were cut off from the world. Very romantic and special. The food was phenomenal, we were apprehensive considering its a restaurant attached to a hotel but it was some of the best food I've had in richmond. Our server was Ravyn and she was so sweet and very attentive, she gave us amazing recommendations and they were beyond our expectations. From start to finish, our dining experience was absolutely amazing! Every bite--from the appetizers to dessert--was packed with flavor. The guacamole was fresh and delicious, the crab ball was perfectly seasoned, and the shrimp and grits were out of this world. I had a wonderful solo date at this restaurant! The location was excellent, and the ambiance was perfect. The staff was incredibly attentive and anticipated my needs throughout the evening. I started with the delicious wedge salad, which was substantial and satisfying. For my main course, I ordered the short rib. While I forgot to request no mushrooms, it was still very flavorful. I tried the Afternoon Umbrella cocktail, but it wasn't to my taste. Luckily, a classic gin and tonic was the perfect remedy. Location: Located in the Marriott, parking is convenient in the attached parking garage on 5th street. There is a covered walkway on level 3 that takes you directly to the lobby. Food: Ordered guacamole & chips, roasted chicken, French onion soup and Wagyu flat iron frites. All were excellent, especially the soup. Had body and flavor. Nonetheless, it was all delicious. I finished the whole plate, which is uncommon for me.
