We ate here to celebrate a birthday. Beautiful restaurant located in the Marriott Hotel. Lots of space for dining and an area for the bar. Moody lighting and lamps for each table sets the tone for intimate and private-type dining. The host & manager were friendly. We got inconsistent service from our server. Not sure she wanted to be there considering it was a holiday, or if she had stuff going on personally. Regardless, she did her best. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our food. From the Burrata recommendation to our ruffle bucatini and halibut dishes and finishing it off with the gooey butter cake, they all were delicious with not complaints! Definitely recommend.

We arrived around 8pm and parked on 6th and Broad with two open spots out front. We walked in through the Marriott front entrance and were greeted by a kind and enthusiastic host who seated us promptly. We had our pick of high-tops or traditional seating and chose a booth (the superior choice IMO). The ambiance and atmosphere felt modern and classic with a touch of ostentatious flair (the bird mural and columns up front were gorgeous). I prefer a curated menu and Fall Line keeps it simple. There are options for most people here. We ordered the skillet cornbread to start. C'est magnifique. We ordered from the sharables menu: the barrata, grilled cauliflower, and burnt ends. The barrata was the clear winner, followed by the cornbread. The burnt ends tasted fantastic, yet were too fatty to enjoy fully. Some constructive feedback: The cauliflower was a major disappointment; it needed additional time on the grill and more sauce to boot. I felt the barrata should have included one extra pair of crustinis. The apricot mostarda was divine, though. They don't carry a sour beer, so my partner and I did not partake. All in all, Fall Line Kitchen was a lovely experience, and our server Satya was a pleasure as well. As we exited, the kind host offered to take our picture in front of the light-wrapped columns. What a gentleman. I definitely recommend bringing a date here to enjoy the cozy, intimate setting, as you gaze lovingly into one anothers eyes, take in the exceptional views, and experience all that its surroundings offer.

Nice! I'll keep it short as I stopped in for a quick decaf coffee + crème brulee before bed and the Fall Line was the perfect pitstop. Our server was kind and dessert and coffee came out quickly. Cheers!

I've been to Fall Line twice. Once on Thanksgiving 2022 and also earlier this week with a couple of friends. My friend booked a regular reservation not realizing that the Fall Line Express, their holiday pop-up, had its own reservation link. We asked if we could move into it, and they said no, even as I was looking at Open Table and saw a reservation slot open that I could book for 20 minutes later. Our server told us that it wasn't accurate and to disregard it. Later on we popped inside to peek and it was half empty, so I feel like ultimately she just didn't want to move us. Regardless, the food we had was pretty tasty, on par with somewhere like Burton's, I'd say. My friends had short rib and harvest salad, and they both seemed to enjoy them. The short rib I heard was very heavy on mushrooms. I ordered the burnt ends app with a side of fries. Both were good. We also had some drinks - I chose the cokee cokee, a Puerto Rican eggnog, which was just okay. They were out of the chocolate cocktail when we tried to order that, so we opted to go on elsewhere for another round. For both visits, this week and 2022, I made sure to order their gooey butter cake. It is so stupidly good -- hands down the best thing on their menu. Don't make a trip to Fall Line without ordering that. I'd honestly go back just for that dessert and a glass of wine sometime. To be clear, their holiday pop-up IS the bar area and mostly closed off from view in the regular dining room, so you'll definitely need to book it to get a seat. It was much more festive looking, as the dining room was pretty dark with a lone Christmas tree. Once we popped into the pop-up, a kind server offered to take our picture with the backdrop and ensured we had the best lighting -- above and beyond! They also had a cute little self-service photo booth area that we took advantage of. Also of note, the restrooms are pretty far away from the restaurant, past hotel check in and the escalator, tucked away. This wasn't a cheap visit, and it probably won't be first in line for a return visit for me, but I enjoyed myself enough for a Monday evening during the holidays. Edit - note to management: If you're going to use AI responses, at least try to remove an em-dash or two. So cringey.

Foot happy hour. The fritters are delish. Perfect for a staycation as it's in a hotel and the vibe is super cute. The ambiance is great. The happy hour is only at the bar but you can get service to the surrounding tables.

The Fall Line is a bar and restaurant located in the Marriott Richmond. I've dined here for breakfast, dinner and had drinks at the bar area. Service is pleasantly attentive and very friendly here, both at the bar, within the restaurant and from the host. It's a cozy atmosphere and prices are surprising reasonable for a hotel restaurant. The avocado toast was deliciously prepared. Nicely seasoned, not garlicky, crunchy today. Really good spread of avocado. I got some perfect over easy eggs with it too. The mixed berries was a small portion, but they were fresh. Coffee is good here - seemed better than the Starbucks nearby. My server was super attentive and it was overall a great breakfast experience. At the bar and lounge, drinks were poured with heavy hands and didn't disappoint! Plenty of bourbons to try here! Overall, this is a great place to check out for food and drinks.

I tried the double cheeseburger off the late night menu. It came with fries. It was actually really tasty. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend adding wings to the late night menu (it's a bar and wings and the bar go together like milk and cereal) The ambience of the bar is nice and mature. I would eat here again. I think the price point for the late night menu is reasonable.

Unfriendly and unprofessional. We arrived on a warm, beautiful October Monday during lunch time (12 pm). Their patio outside had the heater going on (with a flame in the middle). Yet they told us the patio was not open and our dog was not welcome. We researched online before coming here. That waiter was clearly lazy and lying. He could have easily accommodated us. Why did they turn that heater on outside? Just to waste energy? Perfectly nice patio right there, and we were turned away.

First time here. Started with a cocktail in the Lobby( it is in the Marriott property). Went to the hostess and was offered a seat in the middle of the restaurant. Nobody there at 5 pm on a Saturday. Uh.... Can I sit somewhere else? So I thought... this will be interesting. Once seated I was greeted by Jada. Ordered a cocktail and the crab hush puppies. Oh my they were delicious. Generous portion . On to the main course... Shrimp and Grits. I must say... the Grits were some of the best I've had. Creamy, corn and jalapeños. Just a tad of a bite. Wonderful. Service was wonderful and I would absolutely return.

I ordered the Beef Bolognese at Fall Line Kitchen & Bar and overall, it was a solid choice. The dish came out fast and was plated nicely, with rigatoni cooked just right. The sauce was rich and hearty, but I found myself wishing it had a bit more depth, maybe a touch of spice or a bolder flavor profile to really make it pop. Still, it was comforting and satisfying, and the portion size was generous. If you're in the mood for something classic and filling, it gets the job done. I had to order a dash of chili flakes on the side.

Free valet parking for the restaurant which was great as I had to circle a few times restaurant before to find parking. Walked in greeted and seated immediately . I can't remember my waitress name but as busy as she was tending tables and being a bartender, she checked on me the whole time. The guy pictured nor once stopped at my table but I did see him stop at everyone else's and thought that was strange. Either way I was only here for a festive cocktail and appetizer and I got what I wanted. Not over the top Christmas decor but still felt very festive, elegant with dim lighting and sparkly lights! Add to your list of Christmas stops !

Mannnn, look. Top notch service, really good food. I didn't know it was part of the Marriott so I had to park in a separate garage. I was welcomed by Ivy, who complimented my locs and had me all smiles and giggles, and immediately seated me on a Thursday evening. The restaurant wasn't packed at all. My waitress Jess was so polite and friendly. I ordered the iron skillet cornbread, French onion soup, burnt ends, and braised short rib. Everything was PIPING hot and sooo good. I didn't care for the cornbread because I'm not crazy about zucchini but as I continued eating it, I enjoyed the flavor. The burnt ends were not really burnt at all but tender like a BBQ rib. The pickled onions set it off nicely! The French onion soup with gooey cheese was absolutely delicious. Not too salty, the onions were soft. I actually burnt my tongue eating too fast. The star of the show was the braised short rib. While it did take a while to get to my table, I wasn't complaining because everything else kept me occupied. The general manager delivered it to me and expressed how the chef was taking his time with it. Presentation was AMAZING! Tender, flavorful, juicy...ughhh, it was so good. Jess was a phenomenal waitress as she kept checking on me to make sure everything was going smoothly. Will definitely return to order other things, especially dessert! read more

The space was very nice and expected for a major hotel restaurant. They had a reasonable selection and everything we had was pretty good (there were 3 of us). One in our party was not a fan of the chicken sausage, otherwise all the food was pretty good. Service was good as well. read more

This restaurant is located inside the Marriott hotel and for that reason I never considered visiting. We were attending a concert at the National and this restaurant was the close by. We were happy with our choice. A little pricey but the food we had was good. We started with the skillet cornbread which was just ok. My friend had the burger which was tasty and I had a Caesar salad which was good with a smidge too much dressing. We were full when we saw the dessert menu but everything on there looked delicious. Next time I would save room for dessert. Good service and a nice atmosphere. One downside was there are no restrooms in the restaurant, you have to walk across the lobby to to go to the restroom. read more

The vibe in the Fall Line matches perfectly with the Marriott, and the service really made it stand out. People were simply good-hearted and genuine even after a long day (I left after the restaurant closed). Bryce my server was perfectly attentive, and Ivy the hostess could tell I was in a chatty mood and was conversational. Thank you for making my last dinner in Richmond that much more enjoyable! I particularly enjoyed the wine options, favoring most their Tempranillo. The meal was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The steak was cooked to perfection--exactly rare, with a warm red center and a beautifully seared crust that showed real care from the kitchen. Every bite was tender, flavorful, and seasoned just right. The sides complemented it perfectly, and the in-house key lime pie was the perfect ending and maybe the best part was the crust: it has a distinctly autumnal flavor. The wedge was closer to a cobb and that is a good thing. Much fuller flavors than most wedges. read more

Was in town for my birthday . Wanted breakfast without having to go all the way in downtown. Found this spot online. The location is in a nice area. Beautiful corner lot. Walked in and it was BEAUTIFUL. Loved the vibe. Went between 11-2. Ordered the hush puppies the pasta and turkey club SW. The food was great and good portions. Unfortunately the service from our waitress is what ruined it. I was going to give it 3 stars because that's how uncomfortable our server made us feel but the atmosphere and food was good so I won't take it out. But our server had an attitude she didn't greet us no smile. Pretty aggressive and just made us want to leave. She was the bartender too she had red hair/braid or dreads. She didn't seem happy to be there at all. Being on vacation you want positive vibes and specially if you work in a hotel restaurant guest are happy to be out and want top tier service and it was not given to us. One guy was really nice looked to be the manager so that was nice. Overall I say try this place but I don't recommend that server she needs more training and to be more welcoming. read more

Overall fall line kitchen & bar has a lot going for it. While it had a lot of positives going for it during our evening out, a couple negatives make me hesitant to make an effort to go back. A big negative for me is the $10 parking. Not a lot of street parking because of where it's located so we had to park in the garage. Maybe we could've found parking many blocks away but with a person in our party being over 80 that was not a great option. I guess we could've dropped some people off but wasn't ideal. The entrance is mobility friendly, however but you do have to walk a mile to find the restroom since it's not located in the restaurant but in the hotel by the escalators. FLK has a sleek modern vibe going on with some incredibly cool plastic bubble igloos out front that look kind of fun for special occasions. It looked like they were dressed up for different events inside. The bee keeper cocktail sounded great, but was not very interesting given all its potential in the ingredients (rye with honey, blueberry reduction, lemon juice, and aquafaba )1. Not sure what was off, but it wasn't good enough to waste the calories. The server was incredibly friendly, but I did think it odd they didn't notice the cocktail was pretty much untouched, even by the time entrées arrived. When we asked for it to be cleared we were then offered a substitute, but it was a little late to enjoy any kind of cocktail. It was not comped. Appetizers-the fried oyster special was delicious and definitely worth the hype the server gave it. The tomato Sofrito at the base was the star so you really had to dig in there and get it with your bite. I'm t was a one bite kind of appetizer. It also had garlic aïoli, peppers and pimento. Lump crab Hush puppies - just OK. Again, considering the ingredients it sounded great, but the citrus aïoli was too thick and lacking flavor to make up for the tremendous amount of dough. Burnt ends- this was a short rib brisket, but it had too many fatty pieces and the House made barbecue sauce was nothing special. The pickled onions helped make this a little more enjoyable. I would only order the oysters again but that was a special so probably won't be there. Entrées : the Shrimp and grits was good. Had a nice rich flavor with a decent amount of shrimp and the grits were cooked well. A lot richer than I was expecting, but not in a bad way. 16 ounce Dry aged NY strip-- this was a special item on the menu and definitely earned its classification. Expertly prepared and accompanied by a complex and delicate black truffle Madeira pan jus. The regular item menu of Truffled Bucatini with with Parmesan pecorino and black pepper was also a delight. Pretty sure it was homemade pasta and the sauce was amazing. Would definitely order this again since it's on the regular menu. We paired it with the New York strip because we really like a decent protein with dinner. I was too full to sample the short rib, but was told it was very good and it definitely looked tasty. read more

Not a good experience for the price. Although our server was very sweet, this restaurant was very understaffed. It took 15 minutes until we were greeted and took over 2 hours until we finally got our bill. The food was ok, definitely not worthy of the price. We had the hush puppies, which were good, chowder was sup par. My wife got the short rib which was basic and I got an undercooked steak that was well below average. I gave a 40% tip because I felt bad for the server who had to many tables. Not sure what all the good reviews of this place are for. I'd rather go to TGI Fridays. Will not be returning. read more

Came to Fall Line Kitchen on a Friday night with 4 friends! The restaurant is actually inside of a Marriott Hotel, but don't let that scare you away. We started with the burrata appetizer (unfortunately not pictured), could not recommend it enough, huge crowd pleaser. Lots of salads for dinner.. the ceasar salads were delicious and perfectly dressed! On the other hand the harvest salad was a bit overpowered with lemon. The truffle pasta was amazing, nice and lite but also super filling and flavorful. Also the chicken entree...no notes. Now let me tell you about the gooey butter cake.. absolutely impeccable and we are all still thinking about it. Lastly, we had the pleasure of being served by Gabby and she was lovely! read more

Very relaxed vibe and perfect for a quiet easy brunch. The Bloody Mary has just the right amount of kick to last a bit after each sip. I asked my server, Akhai, if he preferred the Seven Hills Cheeseburger or the Chicken Sausage sandwich (the chicken sausage has a jalapeño relish that was calling to me) and he suggested the burger. The double patty and bedding made it a mouthful and it was so so tasty. It was exactly what I needed to start my day right. I was encouraged to try Fall Line from all of the positive reviews, but overall I was underwhelmed. Nothing stood out as particularly noteworthy, and I ultimately would have expected better food for the price (a $20 cheeseburger and a $30 salmon that were....fine). It wasn't a bad meal, but it didn't leave me wanting to come back, either. Could've been better, could've been worse, but not worth going out of your way to try with so many other great dining options in Richmond. read more

Went here on a Sunday morning about 7:30 am. There was no one at the reception area. Had to wait for about 8 minutes before I got seated. There was only one person, Peyton, who is having people seated, taking orders, and serving at that time. There were only 2 parties in the restaurant at that time. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere. Another person arrived to help her at around 8 am. Other than this wait, food was great! French toast was yummy. Spinach and mushroom omelet was delicious. The restaurant is inside a hotel. We didn't realize it when choosing this establishment but based on their reviews... we kept an open mind. I found it more of a 3.5 star... We were greeted and seated quickly. The menu had a nice variety. We came in town for a graduation. We came in hungry. Hush puppy crab cakes- they were ok. Couldn't really taste the crab. Cornbread- was good Belly pork chop- it was ok, if you like it really sweet... I enjoyed the carrots more which came as its side. Fried chicken- nice and crispy, pretty generous serving and not salty which I thought was good. The food was just ok, service was slow but might have been more of a staffing issue because our server looked like he was working the floor. read more

Lemme tell yall something...Maya is a freaking GEM. Suggestions were on point. Drinks, fire. Food, made me dance in my seat. Dessert, my god. Loved it all and will be back for that Golden Hour! We went for lunch and had a great experience. It was very quiet and service was consistent. We got the shishito peppers which had a yummy light creamy sauce, burrata and toast which had a good pesto under the burrata plus the bread was fresh, we each got French onion soup and a salad. Found this place via Yelp and so happy we came. Gabby was the sweetest server and had the best energy! She had great suggestions and honestly made our experience well worth it. The butter cake was amazing! Loved the puppies. We tried a little of everything and nothing was bad. While staying at the Marriott we came here a couple of nights for nightcaps after having dinner elsewhere. We sat at the bar each time and didn't eat here, only drank. The food we did see looked pretty nice though. The bartender is a bourbon aficionado too and they have a nice selection of bottles here. Drinks and atmosphere were decent. Our server was Jada. She provided great service, was friendly and professional! The atmosphere was nice. A little darker than my aging eyes like but fine. A friend and I went before an event at the Carpenter center. Easy parking and walkable to both the event and the restaurant. We were seated at a nice table immediately. The waitress was prompt , friendly and attentive. She answered all of our menu questions We ordered the corn bread appetizer which was just okay. A bit raw in the center. We both ordered the steak au jeux and Fritas. It was presented nicely. The portions of both were large. Unfortunately the steak and fries were cold. Note that this is not how they are usually served, it was Briana's favorite way to eat this dish so she made the decision for me. The porkchop was very very good. Nice grill marks, onions, and a very nice cream-based sauce. This was so so good. They are doing great food at this new location and I will be back again.

The menu has so many tempting options that it was hard to choose, but we both landed on the Hot Chicken Sandwich with cayenne butter--and we're glad we did. It had the perfect amount of heat: enough to bring some spice without overpowering the flavor. On the side, I ordered the green beans after our bartender/server highly recommended them. Normally, green beans wouldn't be my first choice, but they were seasoned perfectly and ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the meal. My partner chose the mac and cheese, which was the superior side (although both were excellent). The service was friendly, attentive, and genuine throughout the evening. Despite arriving on a Friday night without a reservation, we had no trouble getting a table. They only accept reservations for parties of 5-8, so I'm glad we decided to take our chances. One of my favorite parts of the evening was chatting with another guest at the bar. He and his wife shared several entrées with their young son, and they couldn't stop raving about the short ribs--which their son happily claimed for himself by the end of the meal! They also highly recommended the salmon, so we've already got ideas for our next visit. The only real downside has nothing to do with the restaurant itself: parking in Scott's Addition can be a challenge. I'd recommend allowing yourself some extra time to find a spot or, even better, taking a rideshare so you can start enjoying your evening right away. Lunch. Getting in is the trick. There is no waiting area. The bar is small and fully stocked. It took my family about 45 minutes to be seated. The dining room, wood and walls covered in beautiful paintings of black artwork filled with families celebrating and enjoying huge plates of southern cuisine. Our server, LENA was very helpful and friendly. She made sure we knew what was what. She was Awesome. Okay now this FOOD! So much food and everything hot and fresh. You'll be tempted to order an appetizer. I observed the portions and decided I couldn't eat all that... in a week. Definitely getting the fried oysters next time though. The "Fish Boat" comes with 2, 3 or 4 pieces of whiting. It's fried and the onion and pepper "sauce" is a mustardy, vinegar concoction that compliments the fish perfectly. You have your choice of two sides. Typical southern specialties. Collard greens (no pork added) were delicious, with a little kick; Candied Yams and a BRICK OF CORNBREAD. Light, soft sweet cornbread... my goodness. I don't think I can do this food the proper justice it deserves in this review. The chicken strips; the Alfredo were just as good. Even their version of an Arnold Palmer, (The Uptown) was done right. It's worth the drive and definitely worth the calories. If you love southern food, seafood with an ample serving of back in the day hospitality, (it's on the PLATE) stop by and come hungry. My family said it tasted like Thanksgiving. The bartenders were equally impressive eith one a true Chatty Cathy, the other more reserved, but both were masters of their craft, creating unique and distinctive cocktails with ease. We started with the cornbread and maple butter syrup. My only complaint? Can a girl get a little more butter? The cornbread itself was dense, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Next came a small plate of squash served over sweet potato hummus. This dish completely surprised me. The flavor profile reminded me of Haitian cuisine, meaning it was warm, layered, slightly sweet, and carrying just enough heat to keep things interesting. It was creative, distinctive, and honestly one of the highlights of the meal. For our entrées, Jackie chose the steelhead trout while I opted for the scallops served pescatarian-style with ramp clam chowder. Let me tell you something: this was the first time in my life that I genuinely enjoyed clam chowder. The scallops were perfectly prepared, and the chowder elevated the entire dish. Every bite was exceptional. Of course, we couldn't leave without dessert. We shared the chocolate chess pie, and it was everything you want in a chocolate dessert, a dense, fudgy, rich, and utterly decadent. It was so good that I went home, climbed into bed, and happily surrendered to a food coma. What stood out most was that The Roosevelt delivered on every level: hospitality, atmosphere, creativity, and execution. When it was time for us to leave, as I think we stayed way past the dining allotment time, the hostess was very respectful in explaining to our table there was a reservation behind us. From the amount of people dining and waiting this place appears to be a popular choice. Our group had the fresh spring rolls with choice of pork or shrimps and we chose shrimp. It was fresh made and included a tasty chili sauce. Thai basil and various noodle dishes were also eaten. Portions were generous and take out boxes left with us. My only tip is that you think hard before deciding to eat on the patios if it's cold and windy, the umbrellas will attempt to fly away. It can also get chili on a brisk day. No parking lot but plenty of street parking.

My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary here. Everything was wonderful, from the food, to the service, and the atmosphere. We ate on the patio in one of their adorable gazebos. We were tucked in the back corner, and that helped it to feel a little more intimate. There was an up charge to use the gazebo, but it wasn't much and I would say it was worth it. It just made things feel a little more special. The gazebo was decorated with plants, greenery, and our own person water fountain. I would choose to sit there again! Our server Kim, was friendly and knowledgeable. She is exactly the kind of server you want, and I could tell that she was an experienced. She knew just when to show up when we needed her, but didn't hover and left us to chat and enjoy our food. She also had excellent recommendations. Saving the best for last...the food!! Everything was over the top good! I don't usually hype the food in reviews like this. I actually don't typically write reviews, but Fall Line earned this one! We started off with a lovely glass of wine (Kim's recommendation) and my husband had a Fall Line Old Fashioned. He raves about the old fashioned. It was made with their house barrel of Woodford Reserve, which we both agreed was delicious and super smooth. Our appetizers were the oysters and the burrata, and they were both very good. The pesto that came with the burrata was bright and fresh! It is a simple dish, but with a few really high quality, fresh ingredients that were well plated, it turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise! I think dinner was our favorite course! My husband has the Duroc Pork Chop. He said it was delicious!! The best pork chop he has ever had!! It was paired with some tasty charred heirloom carrots and topped with roasted shredded brussel sprouts. It just worked! I had the Truffled Bucatini. There are no words!! This is the best pasta dish I have had in the Richmond and I have lived here most of my life, and eaten at many high end restaurants here. This dish is cheesey, creamy, and has a hint of lemon. The truffles add another level of deliciousness to the flavor profile. The dish is on the simple side, but the chef clearly knows what he or she is doing! I will take simple, fresh, well paired ingredients that make up an over the top amazing dish over some pretentious menu full of things that sound super fancy, but end up being just pretty good any day of the week. Well done, chef!! If I were the kind of person that asked to speak to the chef, I would have had you at our table and given you high praise on a fantastic meal from start to finish. I am not that kind of person, but think you must be a class act! Keep up the outstanding work!! The dessert was also, amazing!! I had the peanut butter pretzel pie, and my husband has the warm chocolate cake with salted caramel and chantilly crème. Both were very good! I would say that we both preferred the peanut butter pretzel pie. It tasted like a high end Resse's peanut butter cup. We really liked the chanilly crème that came with the chocolate cake, too. It was a very good dessert, we just like the peanut butter pie better. Listen folks, if you are still reading this, do yourselves a favor and make your reservation! We made reservations for outdoor seating via open table over a month ago, assuming that meant one of the igloos as there is no ther outdoor seating. In the notes section of the reservation we mentioned "igloo" just to be safe. My kids were so excited! We drive by a lot, so over the last few weeks they would comment each time - "thats going to be so cool!" When we arrived, the hostess told us that "outside" did not mean igloo. It meant inside by the window. very confusing! she said that unfortunately the igloos were booked, but she would send the manager over to discuss making it right somehow. The manager never came. At the end of the meal our server asked how everything was and I again expressed my frustration, especially since we saw one of the igloos was empty the entire time we were there, and another opened up and remained empty after we had been there about 15 minutes. She said we would mention to the manager. My mom saw the server and manager laughing really hard about something before she came to our table, which didn't feel good. Then the manager approached with a terse tone and told us outside reservations don't mean outside, you have to book it as winter wonderland (which is not even an option on open table, so how would we know that?) No smile, no warmth, no graciousness. It felt like she was mad at us and it was very uncomfortable. I asked why those igloo tables sat empty while we were there and she said they hadn't - that we had seen incorrectly. Baffling! as we were right by the window and could clearly see. She also said someone had called us to tell us we made the reservation incorrectly but we never called back. i swear they didn't! it was confrontational and unwelcoming...and really expensive for the quality of the food. it would have been worth it for the fun of eating in an igloo but I would not go otherwise. they also are unaccomodating with substitutions - wouldn't swap mashed potatoes for fries. I know that's a small thing but it all just felt like a series of No's on a big night out we had all been looking forward to for a long time. why you gotta be so mean, fall line? read more

We have been dying to try out Fall/Line since we first heard about it on Instagram, and a celebratory night out was just the thing! We were seated by hostesses Azia and Diamond, who were positively delightful and made sure that our entire party was seated at the right table (we arrived separately) and all had menus and knew who our server was before she showed up. Mi-Sun was our server, and if you go, ask if she is working. She made our entire night fun and relaxed - I have never seen someone so attentive with 3+ tables at the same time. Effortless. We enjoyed 4 appetizers between 2 couples as a "small plates" kind of starter, and then had 3 dishes between the 4 of us. We highly recommend the pimento fritters and the burnt ends. The Wagyu Flat Iron Frites is, in our opinion, the best choice on the menu for dinner, but we will be coming back to try other dishes to make sure. I have tried just about every restaurant in RVA and this is in my TOP 5 now! me and my husband and our friends came and had a little double date shing dig this past Saturday! first of all our server was great I'm sad we didn't get his name!! We got the hush puppies and dip for starters and when I say AMAZINGGG. AMAZING. did main course, I got roasted chicken which was 10/10 whoever made that needs an raise.. my husband got the mushroom bolognese which he was a little scared to get because it had no meat but he loves bolognese so he insist on getting it.. This restaurant, located inside the Richmond Marriot hotel, is 5/5 stars. Most importantly, one server there - Nicole B, is heads above many servers I've ever seen. I went for dinner and she was handling seated guests, guests at the high tops, and guests at the bar. She did an amazing job getting everyone their food and drinks quickly all while being incredibly gracious and hospitable. Amazing waitress and I can't praise her service enough. Meanwhile, the food was to die for. I've never had a more delicious pork chop and strip steak in my life! While the price was a bit high, it is worth every cent. Belly-on pork chop was $46 and NY strip steak was $54. They also have an amazing bourbon/whiskey selection. The ambiance is very nice - a more upscale, dimly lit, and intimate setting. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys delicious western-fare. They also offer a military discount which was a nice added bonus. read more

Fall Line is inside of the Marriott Hotel on Broad Street in Richmond. The food is delicious, service was fantastic and the atmosphere was classy yet very contemporary. For starters we got the BLT deviled eggs and the skillet cornbread w/ honey butter, both of these items were FANTASTIC. Also they are featured on half price happy hour that is between 3p-7p. For our main meals, we got their classic cheeseburger/ fries and their Shrimp and Grits, both entrees were very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Their cocktail menu was well balanced with options and the same goes for their dessert menu! Came in on a whim for some happy hour drinks and enjoyed a lovely evening of dinner! The lump crab hush puppies and BLT Devilled eggs were divine and had lovely citrus flavours for springtime! :) The Burnt Ends are tender, juicy, and the pickled onions add the perfect acidity! We both enjoyed salmon on top of the entrees and highly recommend the addition. :) Desserts we're just as good, highly recommend the Key Lime Pie. Sierra was lovely and attentive and came at just the right times! Never once was I out of a drink! Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere. My boyfriend and I sat outside in one of the igloos and it was such a unique experience. It felt like we were cut off from the world. Very romantic and special. The food was phenomenal, we were apprehensive considering its a restaurant attached to a hotel but it was some of the best food I've had in richmond. Our server was Ravyn and she was so sweet and very attentive, she gave us amazing recommendations and they were beyond our expectations. From start to finish, our dining experience was absolutely amazing! Every bite--from the appetizers to dessert--was packed with flavor. The guacamole was fresh and delicious, the crab ball was perfectly seasoned, and the shrimp and grits were out of this world. For dessert, the gooey cake was the perfect sweet ending--rich, warm, and simply irresistible. The attention to detail was just as impressive as the food! Ivy welcomed us so warmly. I had a wonderful solo date at this restaurant! The location was excellent, and the ambiance was perfect. The staff was incredibly attentive and anticipated my needs throughout the evening. I started with the delicious wedge salad, which was substantial and satisfying. For my main course, I ordered the short rib. While I forgot to request no mushrooms, it was still very flavorful. I tried the Afternoon Umbrella cocktail, but it wasn't to my taste. Luckily, a classic gin and tonic was the perfect remedy.
