The ranch is very close to Winter Park Ski Resort and an hour or so drive away from Vail. We skied both mountains over our four day stay at the ranch. Each day our group of friends returned from a long day of skiing to cook meals together and sit by the massive fire. There are also lots of other activities to do around the ranch like tubing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, etc... You can't go wrong staying at Eagle Eye Ranch!

The…read moreranch house is 100 years old this year, and yes, it is rustic (meaning kept true to its period), but it was clean, comfortable, had everything we could possibly need. The kitchen was completely stocked with everything needed for meal prep and serving, a large butcher block table in the kitchen made meal prep so easy and everyone could sit around visiting while preparing meals or eating breakfast. A comfy dining room with fireplace made our evening meals warm and relaxing. A huge fireplace in the living room welcomed us every time we entered the house, and we all loved sitting in there and reading, visiting, napping and watching football on the big screen TV. There are games and movies available. Plenty of split wood for the fireplaces is stacked on the porch. The bedrooms are small, but clean and comfortable, and since we were not interested in sitting in the bedrooms, they were not an issue to us. There is a fantastic big sauna on the third floor which we took full advantage of before bed most nights. Outdoors, a huge porch with rocking chairs welcomed us and a lot of good conversation occurred out there while watching the wildlife and listening to the aspen leaves blowing in the wind. They were changing colors and were beautiful. The house sits on a high hill overlooking a valley, and the river and train track are about a half mile away. Yes, we could hear the train in the distance, but it was no problem for us. A huge butane fireplace and comfortable chairs was another outdoor area we took full advantage of. A large bbq is around the corner on the porch and the guys grilled several evenings. There were NO BATS or any other critters in the house. The caretakers do live nearby, but other than warmly welcoming us the first day, the only interaction with them was instigated by us. The husband is an accountant in Granby, but the wife is home and they have two small children who were never seen outdoors and never invaded our privacy. Their 1 dog goes to work with the husband, and was in their house otherwise. Most of our time was spent at the ranch and we walked to the main highway several times which is a mile round trip. The river offered beautiful photo ops. Several day trips included, Grand Lakes, Estes Park, Winter Park and Silver Creek Ski area which are all nearby. Granby has a nice grocery store. My personal opinion is that the person who wrote such a negative review was expecting a very modern home, not a 100 year old piece of history. For us, it was just what we wanted and expected and gave us a chance to spend quality time with friends from Texas, California and Arizona. We hope to return again.

Allow an hour. Purveyor of hiking, biking, camping, photo, and other random gear and supplies, along with local lore and digital photography knowledge, Mike will give you an earful on any subject you happen to stumble into, and also somehow segue into photography. He may also well give you stuff: my kids got a bag of paintballs to pitch at the road. My husband got a chunk of "that's no Kraft cheese" cut off the slab with a bucknife. I got a bamboo hiking towel, a lesson in bringing up shadow contrast using CS2, and a pile of excellent off-the-path hiking trail suggestions printed out on pocket-sized cards. Bathroom with shower, kitchen with stove and full refrigerator, no dishwasher, however in one of the bedrooms, there is a big beautiful washer, and a dryer on top of it. I would say there are 3 bedrooms, two bedrooms have Queen beds, then there is a small one with a twin bed. The couch is a Futon. Bring your own soap and Kleenex....Towels and sheets are there. I would give it 5 stars except it was not too clean, but what do you expect of a mountain cabin. The St. Vrain River runs right past the back patio, go fishing ! The entire place is For Sale. Dan is the Caretaker, ( his Dad owns the place )...Dan is really nice man, he loves his dogs and a cat, very well behaved animals. It MIGHT be haunted, I was awakened by someone whispering saying, " Nancy ! Nancy ! are you awake ? " The only other person in the house was asleep. I slept with the light on thereafter.

The cake was exquisite and reflected the personality of the bride. All preparations were in tiptop shape at the reception. It was well organized and went smoothly.

So I was left behind, and my husband went back to get the rest of the family. Since it is Monday, I figure it is not going to get too busy. But, I am not going to take a chance. The time we visit the pool and hot tub is under repair. I am not able to give them an assessment. The office close after 7 pm. They do have emergency number. We had a 5 star experience during our stay. It was quiet because some of the businesses had closed for the season and only half of the cabins were booked so I'm curious how things would be during the summer when it's busy. First off, Mike and Ali are great owners. You can tell they put a lot of love and care into this place. We stayed in the Angler cabin and it was SPOTLESS. I love the exposed wood and the furniture was all super comfy. Some of my main requirements for staying somewhere are safety, comfort, and cleanliness & they nailed it in every category. The amenities are a nice to have too. The location is great, just a short walk up from the main road with all the shops and restaurants and another block up from the lake. It's perfectly centralized and sits among other homes/cabins. The "village" is set up like a grid with all the cabins enclosed inside of a wooden gate and there's a super cute and cozy hangout pergola in the middle with a fire pit and cornhole boards. There's plenty of seating around the quaint property and each cabin comes with a picnic table, grill, and Adirondack chairs. The check-in process was easy-peasy and we were greeted with two complimentary Colorado beers in the fridge and a bottle of water. The cabin is equipped with everything you could possibly need - cooking tools and basic seasonings, coffee maker, towels, extra blankets, a dishwasher. The water pressure in the shower was great. There's a canteen on the property where you can rent movies, games, outdoor equipment, yoga mats, etc at no cost and there are also necessities for purchase. It's a touchless system which is nice. I can't say enough about how wonderful Lupine Village is and I can't wait to come back!

Below is a real and honest review from a real traveler / yelper I say in the range: 3, 4, 5 start resorts, budget VRBOs, and even 1 star motels. Heck one of my favorite places is the Best Western in Winterpark built in the early 80s... it ain't the Ritz! But for $250-300 per night for a 1 bed room + kitchen in Grand Lake without any view, next to an alley... it should be a lot better than this place The good... Everything was clean. Appliances, fans, heaters, dishes, pots/pans, etc were all in good shape and worked properly. The OMG... 2 kids 2 adults... each take 4 to 5 minute showers. You guessed it! Most days only enough Hot water for 2 to 2.5 showers. Oddly, water pressure was good) but if you turn on the cold water, it was so cold you'd freeze, literally, even when the hot was on full blast. Yes owners are nice and attentive but our cabin is a hodge podge patchwork of broken, worn out, poorly installed DIY, and some just plain missing items (some cabinet doors) Kitchen floor sloped a LOT It was annoying every time you walked on the slanted floor. Sofa Bed sagged, 80% of it. The "solution" is in the photos. Yeah, hey... I get it, a $100 sofa set from Big Lots will do that... so leave those to the college kids and get a decent quality set for your full time rental! Kitchen counter was screwed together -- sitting on top of the free cabinets ok, not all cabinets 'need' doors I know, not a huge deal, but it was obvious these cabinets had them and were freebies since under the sink were two end cabinets, not a single sink cabinet and you removed the drawer and screwed the drawer front on... classy! Tile work in the tiny shower... stop, please... you are not good at that, and you tried to be fancy... wow, no - just no! Shower valves... nice job letting water get into the wall without handle covers over the tile... I'm assuming more freebies and didnt want to spend money so ... holes in the wall, no problem Bathroom Fan/Light... WOW, this is LOUD... it vibrated the entire room, not kidding. The only other light was above the sink and the switch was not in reach from the door, no matter how tall you are. made finding it at night difficult. They need to separate the light and the humidity fan to 2 separate switches... oh, and make it so the fan doesnt sound/feel like the space shuttle is lifting off Bedroom... bed was comfortable, no issues there. But the bed took up the entire room, literally... only about 20" of space on any side... and you could not even open up a carry on on the floor except at the foot of the bed... then you are stepping over your luggage constantly.

There is a big hole between the seat and back cushion so had to stuff a pillow between the two. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The gentleman in the office was friendly and welcoming. Our room was ready early and very welcoming upon arrival. Area is quiet and the grounds are very clean. Highly recommend these condos and will absolutely return. I was bummed because I thought our condo was on the river but we were on the opposite side. Next time I will call to make sure its on the river. Highly recommend Beaver Brook on the River!! You will not be disappointed.
