Im originally from San Diego (20+ years) and just recently moved to Fallbrook with my wife (due to work). Only been in Fallbrook for a lil over a month and we have been trying to find places to eat. Well, we found Fallbrook Cafe. Sure, coming from SD we know of awesome Cafe spots and if we included Fallbrook Cafe it wouldn't hit the Top 5 List but since im talking about living in Fallbrook, it hits our #1 List...are there better cafe's, sure, maybe...but at the Fallbrook Cafe they great us with warm welcomes, they know my wife and i by name, their food is always consistant and for some reason if the place wasn't that great we wouldn't be there at least 1 a week. I had lunch today at this iconic Greek café. Not that they serve Greek food, but rather solid American comfort food (the owners are Greek). Where else can you get a delicious, homemade chicken pot pie for only $5.95? This place has great deals on a variety of burgers, sandwiches, etc. I've never been here for breakfast or dinner, but the lunches are predictably wonderful. Today I had the split pea soup for $2.95. I wasn't especially hungry, so didn't roger my traditional Avocado Burger, which is served with half an avocado. Amazing! The soup wasn't outstanding, but it was flavorful with homemade croutons and a creamy texture I have come to expect from the best cream soups. Thank goodness for Yelp reviews! It not only helps make it easier to find places to try, but also to break done my choices on the menu to try. I always have a difficult time deciding when i don't have a craving for anything particular. So thanks to a Yelper's review I tried the cinnamon French toast, it was most delicious. My husband liked it as well, compared to his Belgian waffle. He said the flavor was too plain for the price of the waffle. We did order a side of sausage patties, which was good, a bit salty, but good. The customer service was very friendly which is a plus! I look forward to going back and trying the chicken pot pie and many more dishes. read more

Old fashioned diner with private parking. Doesn't look like much from the outside but it's good. CINNAMON ROLL FRENCH TOAST!!! I made the mistake of pouring syrup over them before checking to see how sweet they were first. They did not need to be any sweeter. But they were really good. Hubby ordered an omelette which itself was pretty good but had unmelted Kraft singles tossed on top. Maybe if they were melted it'd be ok.. Service turned out fine, but was a little awkward at first. I live right up the street at the top of the mountain. I've came here a few times. The service was terrible, waitresses were not friendly, So sad because we came in such a good mood, nor did they come back to even help us take our orders so we left. We waited over 15 almost 18 minutes. The family next to us said the same thing. There was 2 beautiful ladies, & one family & another person next to us that was laughing about the whole situation and left also! ‍. Really we are supposed to be a real friendly little country town.. The other people that had also been waiting at their table, they were taking telling us that they got their orders wrong, like they didn't care. I felt so bad for them they had two cute kids, saying they were starving, Awww.. Noticed a few to go orders we're taking priority, over the people that were sitting inside waiting. Last week we got a prime rib that was horrible, I was afraid to take it back it wasn't cooked as I asked for, it was tough..A few of my friends from out of town were with me, I had been bragging about a cute little country town. I was embarrassed that I didn't take them to Z. CAFE or the Oaks in rainbow... Now those are 2 great restaurants, excellent service, food is always fresh and baked there. Such kind and friendly staff and waitresses, so that's the ONLY places we will go from now on! Was here yesterday with my daughter for breakfast after her gymnastic class. Service was very slow but I saw the sign saying they are hiring so I'm going to assume they are short staffed like so many businesses are right now. The food was good but here's why I will never return they wanted to charge me for a refill of kids milk. Let me explain the situation I got the bill and it said kids chocolate milk $3.89 I thought wow that's gouging since the price of a gallon of milk is $4.28. The kids chocolate milk is in a small styrofoam cup so I thought no way they are charging me nearly $4 for this without allowing me to get a refill. I asked the fir a refill a young man took the cup. Then my waitress came out asked me for my bill back so she can add on the refill I said wait there's a charge isn't the kids milk like $4 she corrected me by pointing to it and saying no it's $3.89 so I replied so no thank you that's just to much. I one didn't appreciate the correction as it wasn't necessary she knew it was .10 off from $4. Then another waitress who just handles drink orders came back outside to me with my daughters empty cup and said so you don't want a refill I said no because there's a charge for it. She starting walking away and and said yea well nothing is free and the cost of things are going up. So clearly my original went in talked negative about me to her coworker and her coworker thought oh I tell her. Very poor customer service if you cant see charging someone for a small cup of chocolate milk at the price of a gallon of milk as gouging then I can't help you. Total cost for myself and daughter for breakfast was $33 for ok food and terrible customer service. I'll take my business elsewhere. Side note to those waitresses the other people on the patio witness the entire interaction and were just as appalled as I was. So you lost my business and probably theirs. read more

I hadn't been to this place in over a decade, but stopped by with a friend after a hike. This spot is still a classic diner, good food, good service and food coffee. There aren't many places like this around in Socal and it's great to see so many faces here. I got their breakfast special and it was really good! They have a little of everything! A week ago now. So when 2 people go to eat dinner you are suppose to eat together...or so I thought. I ordered breakfast for dinner. Eggs, pancakes and sausage. My husband orders fried chicken dinner. Here comes my dinner so I start to butter my pancakes, salt eggs and cut up sausage. My husbands dinner has yet to arrive??? So I am now waiting for my husbands dinner to be served thinking it would be real quick as they have already served me mine. I wait and wait!!! Husband tells me to eat mine as it is getting cold. Not that it was served very warm to begin with. It is a long time before his food finally arrives! The waitress has walked pass me several times seeing that I am just sitting there and not eating....not a word as to how I am doing! Not a word as to how is my food! NOT A WORD! WTF! How many people go to dinner to eat by themselves when they are with others??? So the chef, is a moron if he can't time meals to come out together and the waitress is even more stupid to serve me while my husband just sits there! By the time my husband got his dinner mine was ice cold! Never again....will I waste my money on mediocre food and sub-par service. We have ventured so far from the meaning of TIPS...To Insure Proper Service. Now it has just become expected and nothing more than subsidizing their wages!!! FYI- Early in my life I have waited tables, tended bar and cocktail waitressed. I worked hard for my tips so I always tip big when I go out! I wish I can give this place 0 stars. It was mine and my husband first time trying this place we got there and there was two lady's in the front never said welcome in or a hello thats already bad guest service.... my husband and I asked if we can be seated outside, as soon as we sat down they asked what we would like to drink they brought our drinks right away me and my husband where ready to order so we waited,15 minutes past and my husband was like I think they forgot about us and I said no they are probably busy so I don't know why but we gave them 15 more minutes and SURE ENOUGH THEY FORGOT ABOUT US, we went back inside and there was ONLY ONE FAMILY.... My husband and I went to the front and we told an employee which looked like the owner we told her we have been waiting outside for 30 minutes and you guys forgot about us she did not even try to apologize she just looked at us all weird and we left. This homey cafe looks and feels like a classic diner right out of a movie. The servers were lovely and food was ready in 10 min. Not all that bad but have had a few bad experiences. I called in an order and specifically asked that they leave the box open so the fries stay crispy. I got there and they said they poked holes in the box with a toothpick. Fries were like mashed potatoes. Inedible. Just leave the box open for take out!!! read more

A very simple hole in the wall neighborhood restaurant. The service is great and so was the food. Today when we stopped in for breakfast, it was full house. We probably waited for ten minutes and wasn't that bad of a wait. When we sat down, I commented to my husband that the environment reminded me of a restaurant in a cute little town where kids grew up to be dads/moms and grandpas/grandmas. Where everyone knew everyone. Sure enough, a cute elderly man tapped my husband on the shoulder and said could you be our photographer? We gather together and come here for holidays all the time. We are all retired Sheriffs and grew up here. Such a wonderful group. We anyways back to the food. It was so good. I had the Belgium waffle with strawberries, sausage patty and eggs. The hubby had eggs, hash browns and corn beef hash. Had a nice cup of coffee and hot tea to top it off. It was all so yummy! We will definitely be visiting here again. read more

Been a few years since I ate here. Met up with a friend for breakfast. The place was packed and we elected to sit outside on their rear patio. We bot ordered an omelet, with my friend requesting his be scrambled together. I must say this was one of the best omelets I have had in a very long time! The hash browns that came with it were spot on, not oily and firm. Everything, including the toast was warm upon arrival. I ordered an ice tea and he ordered a coffee. I point this aspect out because we were sitting on the outside rear patio, and it was a fairly warm late morning, and expected getting any refills would be a rare happenstance. How wrong I was! Albeit we had our primary waitress, all the waitresses seemed to be working in unison. Any time one of them came outside to check their respective tables they took care of us and our drinks NEVER ran dry! I've subsequently bumped my review up to 4 stars - I'm a fan! read more

I used to come here a lot, it's good but of course I've been branching out too. It's a cafe that really should be called a diner. When I think of a cafe, I think of small pastries, signature coffee drinks, and limited eating menu. Here you just get coffee, nothing special, they got iced tea, fresh juice! milk, and soft drinks. Typical diner breakfast eggs + meat + pancake or waffle. They have steaks, omelettes, sandwiches, and some whitewashed Mexican food...sorry not sorry. My favorite thing to get here is their turkey bacon club it's wonderful! The portions are big, the bacon is crispy, the lettuce is fresh, the cheese is good quality, it's everything you expect from a sandwich 10/10 recommend because it'll keep you full and you'll have leftovers. I've been too Fallbrook Cafe twice...satisfied with both experiences. The first time was on a Sunday for chicken fried steak and eggs. The food was out in a jiffy, the coffee kept flowing and it was all good. The next time was with a party of 8 the day after Christmas. Once again, the food came out in a hurry (red velvet pancakes) and the coffee flowed. Nice diner, good service with a good selection on the menu.
