I went to the Family Arcade on Vermont recently. I went on a Tuesday when admission was discounted. I thought that there were a decent amount of games to play. Most of the games I played worked properly. I didn't like that the guard on duty who'd said upon entry it would close at 2am was trying to shutdown the place about 15 minutes before 2am.

If you are a avid arcade game fan, this place is for you! Most arcades will charge you for each coin. Whereas this place will provide unlimited play for $25! On Tuesdays, they do have happy hour specials so it's even cheaper! It's a great selection of some of my favorite games like pinball, shooting games, driving games, basketball hoops and air hockey. Not much interaction with the staff because once you pay, you go out and play!

The nostalgia!!!!! For $25 free play all day, you can't beat that price. On Tuesday they have the $15 special. This arcade took me back to my childhood at the laundromat. Highly recommend this place, & the man in charge was very kind and welcoming.

I came across this arcade after attending an event nearby and decided to walk in. The atmosphere felt very old school, but in a good way. I saw multiple games that I enjoyed and some that I have never seen before. They had some basic games like air hockey and some select games like this Japanese rhythm game and a Star Wars game (which I unfortunately did not take a photo of.) The prices were fair in my opinion, as I went on a Tuesday where there was a special. However, $25 per person is a great price as most arcades near me charge $25 but the credits only last about an hour. While I didn't interact with the staff much, they were very easy going and when I had asked to see their selection before paying, they said go for it. Although the arcade is small, the games they have make up for it. If your in there area and are looking to kill some time or you are an avid arcade goer, this is a great place to go.

this place was really cool. I took my son and my fiancé to family arcade LA. They had a lot of games going from the 80s 90s and early 2000s. it was an impressive collection. The only game they had that was depressing was the one Star Wars game and that's because it was out of order every other game in there we tried worked. The Star Wars game is why I'm going to give it a lower than five star review but it's a 4.9 star. I recommend going there at least once because it is very nostalgic like old school retro arcades used to be my son loved it and so did my fiancé who is saying something because she's not in the video games like me and my son.

My girlfriend and I came here on a Friday evening for a date. We arrived around 9 pm and were happy to see that there were not too many other people with all the more games open for us to play.. a lovely site. The cover is $25 per person cash only. Atm provided by the front. After receiving our wrist straps we got to work!!! There are many old classics and more recent gaming types and systems here. I loved the overall selection. I think this place is great for family and date nights. It stays open pretty late and the later it got, the busier it got inside. Overall we had a great experience, we stayed on game mode here for about 2.5 hours before heading home. We will for sure return!

Great place! Reminds me of the arcades that we're everywhere in the 80's. I highly recommend this place for anyone feeling nostalgic.

Ask the Community - Family Arcade LA

Do you offer buy out for birthday parties?

We do not offer buy outs for Birthday Parties . We do have discounted rates for large groups .

    Do they have foosball?

    Yes

    Do they have food?

no i think maybe vending machines but no actual food

I know that they charge $25 a day. But do they have an hourly option?

No, this arcade doesn't have an hourly option.

    Is it still closed?

    We are back open

When did they change the hours? I used to go there at night time and now they're closed at night

They're temporarily closed for repairs... think there was some fire damage... there was a sign on the front door about it... not sure if it's still up... believe they'll have normal hours again when everything is in order... says they hope to reopen…

What happened? Why is it closed and gated now?

There was a small fire in August, but they've reopened and remodeled the affected area.

Do they have Mortal Kombat 2?

Not to my knowledge, no. Sorry.

Do you know if they have a copy of Gauntlet legends?

Nope. They don't have this game in the arcade. Sorry.

Do they have the game bomberman?

Nope. They don't have this game in the arcade. Sorry.

Do they have street fighter V cabinets?

I am so sorry, I don't know. When I go back I can check. If you go and find out let me know please.

Any age limits after a certain time?

I've never seen age restrictions posted anywhere in the building and it is called the Family Arcade 🤗 It's such an old very cool nostalgic arcade with some classic/new video games. I've been going since I was 17, the only time I've had to show I.D.…

I'm a private Pokémon card collector that has never ventured into the world of buy/sell/trade, so I decided I'd call a few shops in the area to see what they'd recommend, and this is exactly how this conversation went. Guy answers phone, i asked him if he had a minute to answer a couple questions i had. "i mean i have a few people I'm helping right now but yeah sure" I proceed to explain that i was looking for guidance or advice on how to offload my extensive Pokémon card collection as I'm moving out of the area, and i was wondering if they had a buyer or something of the sort that would sit down with me and run through it to see what they're willing to buy, etc. He responds, "oookay. Are you planning on paying someone for that?" Confused, i asked what he meant? "Basically what I'm getting at is no, we don't do that. I have a guy here that's really knowledgeable about that kinda stuff but i wouldn't wanna waste his time" I thanked him for his "candid" (read: completely rude) response and that i would look elsewhere. Needless to say I'll never step foot here again.

**DO NOT GO HERE**…read more Insanely rude. I've never heard anything so unnecessarily disrespectful like this before in my life from any professional. I called and very politely asked a simple question of how much a ps5 repair typically costs for power issues. Like if the issue was the power supply unit how much does that cost, ballpark assuming of course they have fixed PS5 consoles in the past. He responded and said "OK put your PS5 on the phone dude" and started laughing, mocking me and getting rude for absolutely no reason like I was crazy to ask this question. If you want to say "prices vary" or something that's fine. But he chose to be an absolute jerk. And obviously has no actual experience or would rather pull you into higher prices than you could otherwise get. So instead he just chose to just be rude and mocking. I called back to tell a manager about the attitude (hardly ever do this) and same guy picked up the phone, pretended to be the manager and very sarcastically said "oh no please do go on." I was stunned. I have no idea how someone like this works in any job requiring customer service or any job at all really. Just a miserable, despicable employee that acts like a middle school bully. Very likely the same employee that the person in the review right before this left. Nobody should ever go to this store. There are much better options who treat customers with respect and are actually helpful like Game & Video right on Vermont in the same area.

He wasn't like that when I talk to him From my experience when I entered the store, he was just busy looking at the computer. What I did to past the time was browse the games I did saw a couple that I wanted and pick up three of them at the time so when I was ready to pay, I asked the guy if he takes Apple Pay he said yes Then I asked him questions about the Nintendo 64 games for super smash Bros and super Mario 64 he said those are not real. Those are authentic, I told him the games I wanted for transformers, he was about to go to a different section that I didn't found it at so when I realize what he was doing I told him not there and then I showed him where I found it and then yeah so I'm not sure what's up with that Same thing for the 360s and the PlayStation 2 games until I showed them where it was. I guess it might. He has a bad memory of where it is. I'm not sure. I saw more of luck review and if it is true that he is not passion and that depress then yeah you're not wrong. Like what's the whole point of working there if your don't like gaming but when I first saw him and when I asked him the question, he didn't look depressed. He look normal Besides that him repeating for the games and asking if it's yours, that's crazy like one he probably doesn't see the price on the cover or two. He has a very bad memory. But damn, that's crazy way different from my experience when I went there for the first time I guess go on your own risk or don't go For me, the only reason I went here is because I was far away from home and I was gonna go to Ross and I want to look at the area they have any retro games around the area and I saw this location so like why not and headed at that location the price is iffy, but I mean for the games they had the box I can't complain And since he's not passionate for the games, I mean, I don't really care. I just want the games I grew up with and dip Ahh and the only reason I am re-editing my review is because I saw the notification of seeing 266 people from 5 days ago and 139 people seeing my review now witch is the first and never expected anyone reading my review Hope it's help
