Sombrero hats, shoes, Mexican dresses, toys, the list goes on. Be careful about the stairs; they are rather steep. I love how the signs tell you to keep your children with you. There is also another sign telling you that you cannot try on the shoes. I asked the salesgirl about it, and she said that they had lots of people coming in to try on the shoes, but not buying any. And then people who actually bought the shoes would come back saying that the shoes smelled like feet from all the people who had tried on the pair of shoes previously. True story, swear to God. I guess tourists have stinky feet! I was looking for a souvenir for myself. Warned about the shoes, I actually was looking to get either a Mexican blouse or dress as I had seen several gorgeous ones during my stay in San Antonio. The salesgirl was great in helping me pick out one, and even better yet, offered a discount if I paid in cash. Done. Best yet, after visiting Market Square, I noted that this store's clothes prices were indeed less expensive than the stores on Market Square. Same merchandise, different prices. I don't know how the other merchandise stacked up, but it does pay to shop around.

Was invited to the Beauty Trend Event, the Skinfluence Festival last Friday, March 13 from 5-8pm…read more Holly Hoffman, the Store Administrator informed me of this specific event and Kay Soria had notified me of the 15% off Beauty sale from March 9-March 15, 2026. I RSVP'd and attended the festive event. I checked in and received a raffle ticket. You could see how they cordoned off the Beauty section as only guests w/RSVPs were allowed in the event. I could see different sections where they had demos for makeup, hair, skin, eyebrows, skincare and perfume. Angel saw me looking towards the first stop which featured Concealers and Setting Sprays by MAC & Charlotte Tillbury. She assisted me then passed me off to Lauren who helped apply some products and give tips. I showed her a list of my makeup which she had some in stock but had to ship others. When Lauren was applying my makeup, Angel was so sweet and brought me a Margie when I said "I should have a drink!" Lauren did great as she had to color-match me from several lines. She helped me find some products. Jordan from MAC came by and suggested a hydrating spray and the order of applying skincare since she said she was an Esthetician. She was bubbly, friendly, helpful and very positive! She was even giving me hugs & high fives! Now that's the Nordstrom service I'm used to! They had a DJ, Cotton Candy Margaritas, Bottled Water, Coca Cola, Charcuterie Bites, a cheesy Mac n Cheese type of dish and festive cake bites. I went to the Jo Malone section and a rep showed some fragrances. The DJ music was so loud so I walked out to get another drink and bites and came back to the Lancome station looking for a product and was helped by a woman holding raffle tickets. The main rep was busy so she helped shade-match me. I had to order online since that product was out of stock. Then she walked me towards the fragrance section. Another rep helped me as I was looking for Jasmine scents. She offered Diptyquem, Gucci, Good Girl Jasmine & Tom Ford's Jasmine. They didn't have samples for Good Girl & Tom Ford so she said to check Sephora. While checking out the scents, I heard my name being called for the raffle so I excitedly showed up to get my prize! Yay!! I went back to the fragrance rep and asked her about the Estee Lauder perfumes so she walked with me there. I was interested in a Gardenia scent so I asked if I could have a sample? She said sure and walked away. I sat for awhile waiting for her until the Estee Lauder rep told me she thinks she ended her shift?? The rep made me a sample. I thought that was inconsiderate and just a "Someone will help you momentarily..." or something to that effect would've been nice. Usually Nordstrom reps are mindful and respectful of my time. At least the Estee Lauder rep followed thru. The Beauty Trend Event was nice on a Friday evening as they're usually on a Saturday when everyone's shopping and it can get quite hectic. It was a pretty fun event and the theme of raffle stations where you can try different products was a great idea. I hope someone sends me a list of demos next time so I can prepare and check out products and reviews ahead of time. I like the convenience of being able to pick up items at Nordstrom Rack since there's one near me vs. driving all the way to Nordstrom La Cantera.

*EXPERIENCE DURING CORONAVIRUS*…read more Going to the grocery store has quickly turned into my least favorite thing to do since the stay at home order by the city. That is why this Target location has been my go-to when we are in need of a couple of grocery items. Compared to other stores, Target has wide hallways where you can actually keep your distance from other customers. This location is never too busy, so you can get in and out pretty easy. The staff has always been super helpful and they clorox wipe all the shopping carts ahead of time. Toilet paper is something you will definitely not find at this Target location, but their produce area is really well stocked. Thank you to all the staff for always being so kind and working during these tough times. We appreciate you!

Went there to purchase a mini refrigerator. This complaint…read moreis not about the mini refrigerator--it is a great product. My concern is about the customer service I received. When I arrived at the refrigerator display, I needed assistance moving the unit to the front of the store. I am 74 years old and was not willing to risk injuring myself by moving it alone. I saw an employee walking nearby and said, "Excuse me." He turned and looked directly at me, and I raised my hand to get his attention. Despite clearly seeing me, he continued walking without acknowledging me or asking whether I needed assistance. I asked my wife whether she had seen what happened because I could not believe that he had completely ignored me. What should have been an enjoyable purchase became a frustrating and upsetting experience. I then approached another employee named Daniella and asked for help taking the refrigerator to the front and loading it into my vehicle. She was very kind, attentive and eager to help. When I described the employee who had ignored me, she identified him as Gilbert from the electronics department. At my request, a manager named Chris came to speak with me. I explained what had happened and told him that Gilbert's behavior was discourteous and completely uncalled for. I eventually purchased the refrigerator and received the assistance I needed, but none of that assistance came from Gilbert. I remained upset on the drive home because of how I had been treated at Target that evening. Please counsel Gilbert about the importance of acknowledging customers and treating them with basic courtesy and respect. Employees should understand that older customers may genuinely need assistance with heavy merchandise. If this behavior continues after management has been made aware of it, then management must also accept responsibility for allowing it.

The Shops at La Cantera in San Antonio is one of the best shopping centers in the area, and there…read moreis a ton of great shopping to do here, from high fashion to more affordable options. There is also a great Lego store, Barnes and Noble, and plenty of good food choices. The worst part of La Cantera is that half of the people who go here seem like they are on their first week on Earth and do not know what they are doing. I love people who walk four in a row and block entire walkways, or people who stop randomly in the middle of the path to look at something. You make my life so miserable. Parking is also pretty insane if you are trying to park up close, but if you have patience, anything is possible. Be careful of the reckless drivers who have no courtesy for anything but themselves. The layout of the mall is pretty nice. Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom Rack have some higher price tag shops surrounding them, while Dillard's and Macy's have more affordable stores nearby. Across the street from the main hub is additional shopping with Zara, J.Crew, J.Jill, Free People, H&M, and most of the dining options, including Perry's, Grimaldi's, Yard House, Palenque Grill, Cheesecake Factory, and more. When the weather is nice and it is not scorching hot, The Shops are a great place to visit in San Antonio. Even when it is hot, there is plenty of shade and air conditioning to help make it less miserable. RIYL: Shopping around some of the most unaware people to ever exist.

Spending the day with my big brother is always a good time. We both enjoy fashion, so shopping…read moretogether is as much about the experience as it is about the clothes. We can wander through just about every store, critique the latest styles, admire great finds, laugh at questionable fashion choices, and somehow entertain ourselves for hours. This adventure took us to the Shops at La Cantera, one of his favorite shopping destinations. Unlike a traditional enclosed mall, La Cantera is an open-air shopping center where you're strolling from store to store in the Texas sunshine. Considering we've had what feels like a month of nonstop rain, I was thrilled that Mother Nature finally gave us a bright, sunny day. While the rain has been good for the lawn and plants, I am definitely ready for it to stop. We started near Nordstrom and leisurely made our way toward Zara, popping in and out of stores along the way. One of my favorite parts of shopping is discovering what's new. I was pleasantly surprised to see several stores that had opened since my last visit. Exploring those new spaces made the trip even more enjoyable. You can find a variety of price points at this mall, making it appealing to a broad range of folks. By the end of the day, my brother scored a few stylish pieces from Zara Men, while I somehow managed to leave empty-handed. Surprisingly, I didn't mind one bit. The best purchase of the day wasn't something that fit in a shopping bag...it was quality time spent catching up, sharing plenty of laughs, and enjoying a leisurely afternoon of shop surfing with my favorite shopping buddy...my big brother.
