My husband and I have been going to Family spa for while now. We've always been happy with the massage we have gotten. We had some family visiting from Michigan, and we recommended they try it out. They had never had a massage done, and the owner of this place could tell. First, he asked them if they had ever had a massage, to which they said no. When they left, (keep in mind these are two young people, 18 years old) the man behind the counter kept saying ,"TIP, TIP, YOU GIVE TIP". They panicked didn't know what to do, and each pulled out $5. The man said, "NO, NO, NO... $10" again, they panicked and gave them $10. I will NEVER go back to Family Spa because of this. I am so disappointed that they CLEARLY took advantage of these young people, their inexperience and naivety when it comes to these types of businesses. I went back and gave the man a little insight on how a "tip" works, and that its voluntary, and to ask for it is not only rude and presumptuous, but extremely offensive. The message was okay, so after the message I pulled out the tip which was $10 the man at the front desk gave me a dirty look and said that wasn't enough and wanted me to give him a $30 tip. Went here tonight with my 7 year old, we had a great couples massage. The price was just right for a single mom needing some relaxation with kid in tow, and the massages were great. Every time we are in the area to visit family, we come here. They are open until 10pm which is great since my family gatherings last long lol. Facilities are nice and they are very friendly. The only complaint I have is that on their website it says $35 for the full body 1hr oil massage. I let them know about the coupon when I called to make my appointment. When I checked out they said $48. I told the guy again I had the coupon, brought it up on my phone and showed him. My critique has the same points others have made: the massage was good (depending on who you have; they do not ask what level of pressure you prefer); the temperature of the room was a bit cold; and the customer service is lacking. Yesterday's experience, however, made me decide not to return. While prices are set, there is no clear and forthright etiquette about tipping. I generally tip out of principle, and for my $60 massage, I gave $70. The man at the front desk looks at the change, and when I indicated it was for my masseuse, he replied, "That's it?" Best $20 I've spent in a long time! I'm a huge fan of reflexology especially when you have to wear heels or walk around all day for work! The people there are so nice and accommodating. The only thing is when you get the person that has to work at the front desk he'll stop massaging to go answer the phone or when someone walks in, that's frustrating. Other than that ambiance is great and you do have to tell them you want it softer because they will automatically go hard but i'm a wimp. First off, no I would not recommend this place. I scheduled a same day appointment for a couples massage for my boyfriend and I. Family Spa was accommodating and affordable ($40.00 per person if paid in cash for a 1 hour massage/$43 with card), so we decided to check it out. When we walked in, the man at the front took us straight to our room -- we never signed a waiver/form nor were we asked if we had any injuries or if we had a preference on pressure level etc. The reason this place is receiving 1 star is because neither my boyfriend or myself received a massage, rather it was a body rub for 45 minute with oil and it was the least bit soothing or relaxing. Neither of the ladies introduced themselves or greeted us. No spa music in the room and you could hear people laughing, talking and coughing in the lobby throughout the "massage", and not to mention the continuous sniffle of my "masseuse". The first 15 minutes consisted of laying face down covered with a sheet and having our bodies patted down. After 15 minutes, the ladies began their hand-oil "massages", but really all it was was our bodies being rubbed with oil. In addition, I was never asked if I wanted my buttocks massaged and my lady tucked the sheet into the waist of my underwear and pulled them down to my upper thighs. Luckily I'm not shy, but I would have appreciated a warning or would have liked to of been asked my preference before doing that. Approximately 45 minutes later, both women walked out of the room one after the other without saying anything. My boyfriend and I both put our heads up thought it was kind of awkward that both women left without saying anything and therefore we assumed it was over. Several minutes later while my boyfriend and I are changing and wiping oil off of our bodies, one of the women open the door and walks right in while my boyfriend and I standing there in our underwear trying to get changed. I immediately grab the small hand towel to cover my exposed body and she looked at us very confused. She said to us that it wasn't over and laughed while asking us if this was our first time. The ladies finished up with a warm towel rub down and a quick oil rub on the front of our bodies. Before paying my boyfriend and I both agreed we weren't satisfied with our massages or the service and that we would tip them $5 each. Upon paying, the man at the front counted our cash very quickly and laughed while saying "only $5?!" with a sour tone of voice and facial expression and both women and the man laughed in our faces as we walked out. Pretty awkward and terrible service altogether. There are other places in the area that are better with comparable pricing. This place is good for the neighborhood. The biggest problem I had was that my therapist was speaking with another therapist that was working on another woman next to me, and that itself was ok but what they were discusssing was whether I was going to tip more or the other customer. They pracically made a bet, like $7 or $6. Also, both therapists were male and the other customer was an older lady (my guess is retired age), and therapists were saying the old folks have wrinkly skin, no resilience, etc etc and talking crap about customers. I happen to understand the Chinese language even though I may not appear that way, and their conversations really detracted. If you don't know what they're saying about you, I woudn't go. read more

Private rooms, nice music, very clean aka spotless environment. Reading some of the reviews I was wondering but enough said it was good I tried it out and was very surprised. I got a 1 hour body massage, no reflexology. Due to a lot of physical issues it is difficult for me to relax face down. English is a second language but it was easy to make my needs understood and they were met rapidly. At 1st she was too much pressure on a sore point and I asked her to back off. No problem, as we went along I had her increase pressure until it was where I wanted it. She listened and responded all the time and continually checked in with me to be sure the pressure was right. Started off with a sheet over me and her massaging though the sheet. Never had this before but it really felt fine. Then she switched to oils which felt fine too. When it came time to flip, she got hot moist towels and rubbed all the excess lotion off first. I can write more but let me sum it up quickly. This is a large massage operation, all with very clean private rooms. Staff was friendly and the massage was good. I will go back. $40 cash for 1 hour. I've been going here for years with other local friends on a regular basis since it's right next to my house. It's always been hit or miss but the low prices kept us coming back. Recently their masseuses have been really good so I've been going more, until last week.... The owner is the man who works the front desk and he is the WORST! He has zero customer service skills and is so rude. A few times recently when I call to book a few foot massages, he always tries to up sell to a more expensive massage and argues with me until giving in and letting me book my foot massages. The other night he said he didn't have enough people to do 3 massages at the time I wanted so I asked about other times and he just yelled "call back later!" and hung up on me. So we went to one of the other many Asian massage places around. If this guy doesn't want to accommodate the 1 hour/$20 foot massage anymore than DON'T offer it! Went on numerous occasions for 90 minute messages that are excellent. This salon pushes for cash to apparently avoid paying taxes to the IRS. One of the message ladies Katie on 2 occasions complained about the tip I gave @20%of the total bill which I took exception to. Tips are customer given not vendor mandated. This has happened twice, I hope they aren't handling their obligation to our countries tax obligations as they handled me last night. read more

They do reflexology massage different than all other for reflexology massage. The same rate like others $20, but they do mostly on foot, 50 min massaging foot and only 10 min back massage. I have been to many foot reflexology places, they massage from toe to head for an hour on a lounge chair. read more

It may take a few appt. to figure which therapist you would like, but I love the price, I love my massages and so does my husband, family and friends. I tried to go here once before with my parents. They had an appointment, I didn't. We get there and there is a young girl, maybe 14/15 years old working the front desk. My parents go in and then I tell her I was with them and thought I would try the $20 foot reflexology. SHe looks at the schedule and tell me there is no room. I said 'okay bummer' and turned to leave. An older guy started talking to her about turning me away and told me to stay. They kept talking back and forth about trying to get me in and after like 10 minutes of that they finally told me they couldn't take me in. I get it. I mean I didn't have an appointment. So today I was at the 99cents store on Clayton road and on a whim decided to give it another try. I like details when I read reviews so bear with the length of my review..... I walked to a room that has two chairs set up. I sit in one and she brings the tub of hot water (which is pretty normal for the foot reflexology massages) I put my feet in and then she left. I was like "La la la connect the dots..." because she was gone for like 10 minutes! AT other places they work on the head, neck, arms and hands while the feet are soaking....so while my feet were soaking my neck started hurting. The chairs are set up with a pillow on the backreast part...not comfortable. She comes in 10 minutes later and started on my feet. It didn't really feel good because I was not relaxed. She started with my right foot and only worked on it for like 2 minutes then wrapped it back up and worked on my left foot. SHe was working on this one way longer and I was thinking to myself 'WTF!?' After she finished she went back to my right foot and worked on it longer so it balanced out. She also wore gloves. I know that is picky of me, but I have never had them wear gloves so I noticed it felt different, not a good different. I was wide awake the whole time with my eyes open watching her. Other places have you laying back with a towel on your eyes. Once the foot part is over you get up and go in another room (which I didn't like either. other places the whole massage takes place in one chair) to do the 10 minutes of back massage. There was some clock in there and I heard it tick the whole time which drove me CRAZY. And she was not the best back massager. She was just poking me hard. I couldn't WAIT to leave! OMG! I have never left a massage place feeling like I needed a massage! My neck hurt so bad and it did not hurt when I got there! When I went to pay, they guy working the front asked how it was. I was polite and told him that I expected different. I had been to many other places and they all do more. He listened and pretty much gave me a response along the line of 'What do you expect for $20?" He didn't ACTUALLY say that verbatim, but might as well have. I do not recommend their foot reflexology. Josh is the only one who knows how to give me awesome massages. I follow him everywhere he works. Josh speaks great English and he has very strong hands. I always get a deep tissue massage, 90 minutes. It is so cheap too...$60 dollars. I love it when he grinds into my tired muscles. the facilities are beautiful and well decorated. one of the prettiest and well designed offices we have visited. Advertise a 60 minute foot massage but in reality you ONLY GET 50 MINUTES OF MASSAGE. The first 10 minutes of soaking your foot in warmer water you are left alone. I prefer hotter water. We have done many foot massages and this is the only place that really doesn't give you a full hour. For that reason we will not return. The massage that they did was fine. No head, arms, shoulders to begin with. The cost of doing business means accepting credit cards so I agree that charging more for that privilege is a little much. And more important it has the same great massages, whether you want a foot massage or the whole nine yards with a body massage; and it's a great place to go to feel close to your partner as they have side by side tables. I REALLY wanted to like this place. It got three stars because of the price (very reasonable), and it was nicer inside than I expected based on the strip mall location. They're close on decor, but a few minor changes would make it much better. The Asian pop music playing was kind of funky, some nice spa music would be better IMO. Male masseuse - no intake questions at all - no medical history, or general questions most ask. Just came in and started the massage. Told him pressure was too much, so he lightened up a bit. Obviously knew what he was doing - technical skills very good. Even though I asked him to lighten up, felt like I was being beat up a bit - on the other hand, after two days of feeling bruised, my back DID feel better - YAY. I even scheduled a massage for my husband a few days later. When he showed up, the masseuse I scheduled him with wasn't there, there was no one who understood much English and they started reflexology instead of massage. He ended up leaving as it just wasn't happening. Massage should not be stressful. Oh, and this is a big deal - massage therapists should NOT be smoking before a massage. Nobody wants to smell cigarette smoke on a massage therapist. Having them stand outside the door smoking is not a good sign and probably has driven others away. read more
