Walked in and saw that it was self-seating. Decided to eat at the counter so that there wasn't a chance I would be overlooked. Definitely seems to be a family owned dinner and the lady at the front was friendly and I over heard that staff ask other co-workers if I was taken care of. So staff definitely makes sure that they are on top of things. Ordered the breakfast sandwich and French toast. The food was delicious and I hardly say that about a lot of food. The ends of the bread was not burnt or crispy, the sausage was on point, and the French toast was nice and fluffy. Definitely better than some chain restaurants or other local diners.  Even though I don't think I'll be in the area anytime soon again - if they consistently cook breakfast this way all the time; I might go out of way just to eat breakfast here again. read more

Just your every day local breakfast joint! Admittedly, I liked Lowman's better (back in the day) but, this is a legit replacement! Don't expect to get anything fancy. It's your average breakfast fare at cheap prices & mediocre quality. The big boy with a chicken fried steak is amongst my favorites. Enough to feed 3 people but delicious! I always get over easy easy here & they're always cooked to perfection, which is notable. read more

This place is a great little home town cafe! Breakfast was great! The biscuits and gravy were to die for!

Hands down, best pancakes in Kansas City. If you like old fashioned pancakes you have to try these. I took a bite of my daughter's without syrup or butter and I was holding back from eating the rest. This will be our go to breakfast place. It's real easy to get to from KC, just hop on 169 and head north. read more

I was skeptical considering the last place in the same location was just mediocre. The place was very busy and seemed a bit chaotic, but the food made it worth it. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. My wife had the hot beef sandwich. Bothe very delicious and all hand made. The green beans and steak tasted like grandmas used to make and the mash potatoes definitely didn't come from a box We will be coming back again soon read more

Not a big fan. I would eat at a cafe for an amazing breakfast and this is not my choice. Heavy grease and strange flavor is what I experienced. I will still drive to Platte City and visit Roxanne's Cafe for an amazing high fat breakfast. Plus the wait staff at Roxanne's is fun and attentive. read more

A Sunday morning, can see lots of staff running around but no one has any idea what's going on. Our order was technically correct but all mixed up; we had to scoop things onto different plates to straighten it out. My hashbrowns were cold, not crispy - shredded cheese not even melted on top. The biscuits and gravy were passable if you don't like lots of sausage in the gravy. The best thing about this place was the $13 bill for 2 people. Not worth any more than that for sure. read more

Definite growing pains for this new place in Smithville. I will start off by saying the chicken fry I had was one of the best I have had in awhile. But the almost hour to get it, my order being wrong and the hash browns, eggs and B&G being cold really knocked way down. Then having to listen to another waitress bad mouthing our waitress with the people at the table across from us was the capper. Hopefully the service will improve, because I think the food is pretty good. read more

Up until today this was one of our go to places in Smithville. Good food, good service, and good prices. I took my family there for lunch. It has always been a little treat for my grandchildren to drink from an individual creamer on the table. They each had two, And then a lady came and took one out of my granddaughter's hand and said these are not "shot glasses." I then instructed my family to get up and leave as I thought this was very petty since I to work in a restaurant and also use two creamers in my coffee. The server followed us out the door made an insulting remark about my grandchildren. It very much upset my son, curse words started flying and then the server lunged after my son and my seven month pregnant daughter-in-law got between them. I hurried everyone to the car, and as we were walking away the server was screaming, "get the license plates I'm calling the police." Well, we called the police and they asked us if we wanted to press charges. I find it very fascinating that a middle-aged server would conduct herself that way. And I can not believe that they treated us as if we stole the creamers. They said if we wanted to buy milk we should have. Each and every time I take my family there to eat we spend almost $50 and tip very well. They have lost our business over their Behavior. read more
