I grew up in Missouri, and pork tenderloins were just part of life. Then I moved to California... where nobody seemed to know what a real pork tenderloin was. After that, Arizona gave me amazing Southwest food, but still never scratched that Missouri tenderloin itch. So every time I come back home, the first thing I want is a proper pork tenderloin sandwich. And without question, the best one I've ever had in my life was at 169 Cafe. If you're headed to the airport or passing through Smithville, do yourself a favor and stop here. Get the pork tenderloin, add the onion rings, and thank me later. Services great waitress very friendly. potatoes are frozen deep fried and cinnamon roll not homemade surprisingly, but still taste good. Biscuit is big and good. prices are slightly high for small town diner but at least it's local not a chain or anything. Typical diner fare; this place has been under new ownership several times in the last few years. It seems like each time the prices climb a bit more. For a small town diner, they're a bit steep. I usually just drink water because the coffee is $$$ for a single cup; the waitresses are nice but pretty busy and don't always get around for a refill before I'm done eating breakfast. read more

This is one of the few breakfast places in the area. It was closer to lunchtime. I ordered the Philly cheese steak because I was hungry and wanted to be full. I told the waitress that I couldn't wait to try the pie after I ate. The Philly was by FAR the smallest, worst Philly cheese steak I've ever had. Just call it a small beef sandwich. That was 100% not a Philly in any stretch of the imagination. After the food was delivered, all of the servers disappeared for about 20 mins. Did everyone go on a smoke break at the same time? I'm not sure what happened. I planned on getting a piece of pie since they looked great at the front counter but the waitress returned from her hiatus with the check and walked away. I guess we weren't allowed to buy any pie. I walked out hungry. Why did I give it 2 stars instead of 1? I have been seeing a picture of a breakfast sandwich that 169 Café has been posting lately. They call it the Hot Mess! And every time I see it, I start to drool. So, today I decided to stop drooling and have a taste! They take a biscuit, about the size of half a loaf of bread, slice it in half, they set the lower half on a plate and layer on some hashbrowns, a sausage patty, a slice of ham, two slices of bacon, a fried egg, and then they smother the whole works with gravy and set the lid on top! Holy Moly! I did not have a week to lick my fingers clean, so I took a knife and fork to it, and it was delicious! Well Done 169 Café! Well Done Indeed! We thought we would give this "new" restaurant a try. Turns out the SAME owners changed the name and stayed the SAME. That is never a good sign . We had last been there around 5 years ago and we're disappointed by our homestyle meals. The little restaurant was packed on this Sunday afternoon, but we were seated quickly. We decided on breakfast- Who can mess up breakfast right?? Turns out this place can. I ordered the farmers platter, half order of biscuits and gravy. Another breakfast was ordered at the table, along with a tenderloin sandwich. Waters all around with 2 coffees. What was the bill? $50 after tip. Eggs: cold Hash browns: cold, barely browned, NO flavor. Toast: one side only was toasted. Gravy: watery- McDonald's has more flavor. Sausages: tough, had to use a knife. The weirdest flavor I've ever tasted. Tenderloin: ok. Side salad: ok *I'm usually not this harsh, but seriously- Who messes up a basic breakfast?! I will NEVER go back. read more

In for breakfast before Mass this morning. Very nice ... greeted at door. Looking forward to taking my grandson one of their cinnamon rolls. They look delish. Coffee very fresh & perfect for a chilly winders day. Loaded omelette is large enough to share! This place was recommend by some those guests at our B&B. They were spot on. They changed the name of this place recently. I have been a few times and each time I hope it's better. I know the owners are amazing people. The wait staff though is not great, food is very bland. Prices are very good for the most part and I love that they have pies. read more

Great for breakfast, should try if you haven't already. Service is terrific, coffee always hot, great menu.

It could be a quaint place for locals to meet, but the building was cold and stark. Food was overpriced and poor quality.

Revisited this establishment and sadly was not as impressed after the change in ownership. The menu was chopped down, Chicken was a bit undercooked and it just wasn't at the same level I remember. Being that the it is under new ownership it may just be that they are working out some kinks so I will definitely try it again the next time I come through. But flavor and staff were great so don't rule it out as a place to try on your way through! read more

She walked away and I waited 5 minutes for anyone else to take our order. That did not happen so my wife and I got up and left. I ordered a BLT asked for crispy fries but what I received was a very greasy toasted BLT with crumbled bacon inside. There was not even a whole piece of lettuce on it, but like a little chunk on one half. The fries were cold and limp, I took one bite did not touch again. The waitress was pleasant but never checked on us during meal for me to address the problem. When the waitress brought the check I did tell her about the fries and she deducted the cost of my meal. It did look like they had a good breakfast menu so perhaps lunch isn't what they are known for. I would not recommend, sorry. read more
