I've been to a fair share of different dentists, so I hold my expectations very high throughout the entire experience.
My children were recently covered by a new insurance, which unfortunately does not work with their original dentist.
I did my research, and chose for Family Kare Dental based on the location, and most importantly, the raving 5 star reviews.
So, I called in, and scheduled an appointment for an examination and cleaning for my three children.
Arrived about 10-15 minutes before our appointment time - the receptionist was kind, and the office is very small. Plenty of magazines to keep you occupied, and it was well kept.
My oldest got called in first to the back - and this is where I started to notice the lack of communication. Sam, who took my son in, did not greet me or explain what they were going to do. She just simply called his name, and took him back.
I didn't have any kind of communication with anyone, so I sat there alone in the lobby with my younger children, wondering what was going on. I get it, we're obviously there for a cleaning and examination - however, they should've at least spoke to me, yet nothing.
When Sam came back to the front to retrieve something, I confronted her and she then decided to update me.
Now, during this time, there was some barking. Apparently, Dr. Tran brought her large dog to work and had him confined behind a baby gate. I love dogs, so I had no problem - but I did find it a bit unprofessional to have a dog in that kind of environment, without any disclosure to the patients - like if I had brought my mother, what would've happened, when she's allergic to dogs?
Dr. Tran called me to the back to go over my son's examination - no introduction, no welcoming vibe - she was actually incredibly brief, quick, and made it apparent that she was in a rush.
This was more obvious once Sam was the one who ended up going over my two younger ones' exams. She actually had one lay in the chair, show me the teeth that needed work, and then just implied that my other child had some cavities in the back. She didn't take the time to point them out like what was done with the other two - and when I walked by, I saw Dr. Tran work on a patient that arrived to the office about 10 min after me.
Basically pieced it together and realized that Dr. Tran did not prioritize my children or their health - it was a very 'just get in and out' feeling. She spoke to me in less than a minute about my oldest son, and that was it. I couldn't even ask her any questions, and she didn't care to go over my two younger ones.
Sam was nice, but I felt like my children were not valued as patients.
Definitely will not be coming back - not sure if I came on a bad day, or what was going on, but when it's regarding the dental health of my children, I expect the dentist to show concern and provide exceptional care.
I'll leave one star for the cute pit bull they had confined behind the gate, but that's about it. read more
