Empty parking lot at noon is not a good sign. I met with my colleague for lunch and perused their menu. I ordered an iced tea and it was fantastic! My menu had dried food on it so that wasn't fun. The decorations are very nice and it's spacious inside. I settled on the lunch 2-meat combo and ordered the chicken and brisket with salad and Mac-n-cheese for sides. I forgot to take a photo of my meal but the chicken was delicious !! The brisket was tough so I replaced it with the chopped pork. That wasn't much better. My salad was good and the Mac-n-cheese was not bad. It tasted good but seemed like it may have been from the previous day's batch. All in all it wasn't bad. The server Sonia was wonderful. read more

This used to be a favorite of mine, but it's been a while since I've been here. The nearly empty parking lot at noon on a Saturday should have been a red flag. Despite not being very busy, we waited almost 45 minutes for a simple chopped pork sandwich and grilled chicken sandwich. The chopped pork was mostly fat and gristle. Very little lean meat. That's very sloppy on the part of the kitchen staff. It was truly disgusting and unappetizing. The wait staff was friendly. They took the sandwich off my bill and offered to bring another one. It has been awhile since we've been here. Nice rustic environment and friendly staff. Our waitress, Karen, did a great job. Checked on us and ensured our drinks were topped off. Food was delicious and my sons never gave me a chance to grab some brisket. The new egg rolls were really good too. My only critique was the ribs. Today the godkids and I ended up here as apparently 8:00 is closing time for restaurants and we barely made it by arriving at 7:20 pm unbeknownst of that, we had a courteous server even though her first words were that she didn't know we were there even we got sat down by a host. As I digress you do get a lot of food for the price you pay. Three meat combos with two sides for $23.00 and a two meat with two sides for $21.00. Sounds like a no brainer to get the three for $2.00 extra. The food itself was tasty and you definitely receive your money worth. I would've been better off eating the plastic container it came in. I had a totally new experience, I've never had bad brisket... now I have and it's nasty. The meat was so tough, I literally broke the plastic knife trying to cut it. I would actually describe it better as cud. I would have starved if i hadn't ordered broccoli which sadly was the best part of the meal and the only edible part. I would rather eat my own socks before attempting to eat this again. I was recently disappointed with my visit to Famous Dave's in Aurora. I purchased a pie online for a work potluck, and FD told me that they would give me $3 off if I sign up for "text message marketing." I signed up, and they sent me a discount code. I entered the code into my online order and they processed my transaction, with tip, but without the discount. So, I mentioned it at the store when I went to pick up the pie and the manager told me that she can't do anything about it, since it was an online order. So I said "I understand, how about a free slice of pie (in addition to the pie I bought) and we call it even?" She told me no, a slice of pie is $5 so there is nothing she can do. Now, $3 is not going to break me but it's just bad form to stiff a new customer out of a 'new customer discount'. read more

The $18 I spent on this barely feed 1 chickens could have purchased 3 whole chickens from Sam's club. The chicken wings regular were so small didn't fill up 1/2 the square carry out box. I have always order for several years from Famous Dave's but not anymore. If I could give them no star at all, I would. The last two orders of 1 order of 3 rib dinners 4 weeks before and today (Memorial Day) a slab of ribs, was terrible at all. The ribs are now full of fat, and we could not even bite into or chew the ribs because they were so tough. They cut the slab up and gave us 10 bones instead of a whole slab, not that it much mattered after trying to eat them. Everyone who grabbed one at our small party ended up throwing them away in disgust. If I had time I would of went back and got my money back. Ok, through the years i have seen the quality of this place go down hill to the point i really dont like any meats here except the burnt ends. So, i usually only come here for the bbq nachos with burnt ends but this time i came here just to hang out with some friends and get a bite to eat. They no longer have the nachos on the menu. Bummed out. But i did order burnt ends with a garden salad. . Service is ok. But lacks energy or good vibes. Ordered a drink and a water. Forgot to bring the water. I made due and skipped it. The salad came and was definitely not a fresh salad, many pieces of lettuce were starting to brown. Wont hurt so i continued to eat. Cucumbers were flavorless. It was a blah salad. I get the burnt ends and i was sorely disappointed. They tasted like meat that was seared and burnt, then had the stuff at the bottom of the pan mixed with too much water and then put the meat in it to simmer. I also had a side of brisket - yeah not a fan. It was the last time visiting at famous daves. In response to the below.... Its definitely not the same as it was. Even the pics show the quality has lowered. You never sold salads that looked like that. And the burnt ends never tasted like watered down pan drippins. I've been here lately and all I can I said is they have improved a lot. The food tastes so delicious, the new manager is very friendly and so is the stuff even when they are short staffed.The place is always clean and neat, and so are the bathrooms. I've had takeout from this location a couple of times, and it's similar to the one I've also reviewed that is in Central Park/Northfield/Stapleton/whatever it's called now. They have a pretty standard menu, and I'd say I enjoy the Georgia chopped pork the most of the meat options, though the rib tips are also quite good. There are a decent number of sides offered, nothing super interesting, but the corn bread is a very nice addition to the plates. It's good but not outstanding barbecue. They used to do Dave Day, where if your name was any version of David or Dave you just had to go to any of their locations on that designated day, show your ID, and you'd get a free entree. I miss that. Maybe we can bring it back? Otherwise I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat here, though it's exactly what three stars says it is, a-okay. read more

As I was checking in, the app brought up my last 5 star review for this place from 7 years ago. Let's see what's changed: I waited for less than 1 minute in the meanwhile some other customers in front of me of me were ushered to their tables. Then, the attending waiter comes back to me and says, yes?? I guess that was his best signature welcome to greet the customer. Then I waited for him to ask the leading question but he waited for me, and I waited form him until he said "how many of you?" That was an awkward moment where you feel like you're not truly welcome into the eatery. After I looked around and make sure that it was me alone (obviously!!!) my answer was: Just me. I know a bit disappointments came over to him as the tip from 1 customer is not as much as when you get more individuals in the party. But this translates into a form of discrimination. Why should I be made feel like this just because I'm dining in alone? Then the waiter says "right this way (no welcoming form of a greeting except for that "yes?") so he leads me to the seating area, not the bar area, and he indicates a table for me to seat at, then he says "so real quick what you'll be having for a drink?" Real quick?? Excuse me Mr President for bothering your day with my personal need to eat!!!! I am so sorry for wasting your precious time! I said: For now, let me have some water" and he left. He said my waiter would be back with me soon. After few minutes the same male server came back and said so what will be the order, so I asked "what happened to my waiter?" He said, well, right at the second when I was about to tell her you were ready she went into the restroom. No worries, still she will be your waitress but I don't want you to wait so long for her. So I placed my order with him, thinking that this "other waiter/waitress) was just bs. Several minutes after, he brought my food and still, no sign of my actual waitress yet. Am I crazy? Now, my lemonade never showed up. After I ate the meal, I finished the glass of water (half ice and half water) and then a girl came to my table and said "another water?" I told her that I ordered a drink but never showed up and then she said ok then another water and the check?" What kind of people is working today??? The ticket says the waiter is Tiana BUT I saw literally no service. That means no tip, correct?????? After paying for the meal, I called the manager and discussed the situation. She was embarrassed for the bad experience and offered to cancel the ticket, but I declined. Very disappointed in our visit on 7/11/24. Restaurant wasn't that busy but seemed grossly understaffed with just two front of the house servers (who also were clearing tables). Waited 15 min at the hostess stand to be seated. Lobby filled up and the manager I assumed, older woman just kept telling us she would be right with us. Our server was friendly but seemed very frazzled and we had to keep asking him for things. Overall, the food was very disappointing. Especially celebrating a birthday. What's happened Famous Dave's? You used to have such great food, good portions and too notch service. First, I just want to say that our waitress was amazing! This was our first time visiting this location and this establishment. We were excited to come here, because we were in the mood for barbecue. The lemonade tasted like juice and I opted for water instead. The meat itself tasted like it was the last of what they had. It was very dry, chewy, and did not taste fresh at all. The only way I was able to eat it, was to drench it in barbecue sauce. I will say that the cornbread and banana pudding were delicious. On 5/25/24, I picked up my order; the manager was very helpful, allowing me to use several gift cards and even assisting me with carrying items to my car. I'm sure it's a lot better in person and if you just order directly there. The food was delicious but small portions for the price. My only complaint is to update the grubhub menu. I selected the ribs special and on grubhub, it gave you a selection of two meats and a side but when I made that request in, I had someone call and clarified my order.
