SUNDAY LUNCH AFTER CHURCH- Food was ok at best, the server/waiter was wearing inverted crosses from his ears while seating Sunday Customers. We quietly and nicely spoke with the manager to inform her that we were offended by his anti-Christian jewelry. But she apparently did not see anything wrong with this as he continued to wear them for our entire meal making us feel very uncomfortable. We finished our meal quietly and quickly, left a good tip and will never return. Very distasteful, disrespectful and ultimately disappointing experience...the good news is, when Cheddar's is packed, there was plenty of open tables at "FAMOUS" Dave's. First, I just want to say that our waitress was amazing! This was our first time visiting this location and this establishment. We were excited to come here, because we were in the mood for barbecue. The lemonade tasted like juice and I opted for water instead. The meat itself tasted like it was the last of what they had. It was very dry, chewy, and did not taste fresh at all. The only way I was able to eat it, was to drench it in barbecue sauce. I will say that the cornbread and banana pudding were delicious. I don't know what kind of black magic they've got going on at this restaurant, but it's delicious. I arrived home from work last Thursday with a killer migraine ready to throw an ice pack on my face and just call it a day. A friend of mine offered to order and pickup from Famous Dave's, so I couldn't argue with that. I had never eaten there before, plus I love trying out new restaurants. When we finally got our order home she took the lid off of the tin- and it just felt like a glorious moment. The aroma of the smoked meats was sensational, the portions were satisfactory- honestly I couldn't wait to dig in... seriously I just started picking at it. The restrooms are immaculate, the bar is civilized and comfortable, and the manager genuinely cares if you've had a good meal--and if you haven't. she'll find out how and why and personally, successfully take effective measures to fix it. First off, the take out was still hot when we got home and the ribs were good--that's the reason for the second star. The potatoes tasted like straight butter, not really my thing. And the fried pickles weren't dill so no thanks there either. The real issue was ordering at 5:32pm being told we'd have to wait 45 minutes to pickup. No problem, we ran into target and made sure to take our time. Get back over to the restaurant to get our food at 6:17pm. Daddio goes inside and says there's a big wait and is told 15 minutes, his food will be ready. We made multiple phone calls being like what's the deal already and I even started a Disney movie to entertain his daughter. He didn't walk out with food in hand until 7:43pm!!! The lack of communication from staff and essentially forcing customers to wait (we already paid on the phone) over 2 hours is horrendous!!! Do better as an establishment. Train your team to be honest. We never would've spent Father's Day dinner waiting for some franchised, semi-decent take-out BBQ. read more

Decided to get take out from here on New Year's Eve. They did not disappoint! I had my usual two meat combo with chopped pork and beef brisket, and sides of coleslaw and fries. The only draw back with doing take out is you don't get to use the various BBQ sauces they have, all of which are delicious. We've loved Famous Dave's in the past. This time the food was the worst food I've had in over a decade. Ordered Ribs, & Sausage. The ribs were terribly hard and the texture was weird. Had to force myself to tear the meat off the bones. Sausages had cheese that wasn't even melted and tasted like they were microwaved. Wife had chicken and it tasted the same way. Food was barely warm. Service was okay but when we told them about the food and temperature we got an excuse about trying to get food out. That's fine but will not go back. To be clear, this review is for take-out only. First, they estimated 30 minutes (starting at 4:45 Thursday) to make a two-meal non-customized order, which sounded like a lot, but ok. But then they couldn't do it. After 35 minutes, I called again, and was told I'd get it when it was ready. It didn't arrive until the 45 minute mark. No explanation. Hard to imagine anyone else finding that acceptable. Second, the order of Rib Tips, which used to be good, tasted like they'd been breaded and deep fried, not barbecued. First thing to address, would it kill ya to throw in some wet wipes? Or any napkins at all? My hubby and I both had ribs, very messy. We ordered delivery through grub hub, easy to order and it came earlier than expected. Delivery is $8 so pretty expensive but if you sign up to grub hub you get a $7 coupon code. When it comes to value for money, I think my hubby won. He had the dinner for one and I had a rib + bbq chicken combo. Mine was more money but I had options of sides and meat. I had garlic mash and collard greens, both nice, greens a tad salty. I do like my ribs to be falling off the bone, these were hanging on pretty tight but had a good flavour. Tonight I had the worst brisket I've ever had and fiancé had the rib tips and they didn't look like they usually do... shockingly they were super chewy. Tables in the bar were not clean. Got a holiday order to make our Christmas gathering less stressful. Jim and Nicks at Southlands had been our go to for several years- great smoked turkey by the pound- but Covid did them in. Next up- Famous Dave's. We ordered smoked turkey and brisket. The brisket was good- not the best but was up to the challenge. The Turkey, that was the shock and embarrassment. They gave us "slabs" in a large aluminum pan. Zero smoke flavor and the taste reminded me of hospital food-that's not really fair, I've had better hospital food. No bar b que sauce to go with anything but they did put a "gravy" on the turkey (not wanted or asked for) which again tasted like it was a reject from an institution. For the $17 and $22 per pound cost I expected better quality. There I go again, expecting to get something good tasting from a nearby restaurant. The takeaway for me here is to search out other options for our next holiday get together. read more

I've been to Famous Dave's plenty of times, I used to love going, the service was always great and the place seemed clean for the most part. However, the service has gone down by a lot. The servers are now fairly bitter and the food has gone down quite a bit. Now when I go the thing that's only really worthwhile are the cornbread muffins and ribs. Not to mention the wait is forever, even when the place is nearly empty. Lastly, cleanliness, it's not incredibly dirty but it could definitely be improved. In the past my review would have been a solid 5 stars. The atmosphere is nice though, it's nicely decorated and it definitely feels like a wood cabin. read more

My parents and I used to come here a lot, we found this great BBQ place in town and decided we were gonna go for it, and after the first time, we were hooked. We always get the party platter (worth about $65) and it feeds the whole family of 4 and we have some leftovers. Comes with a variety of meats, coleslaw, corn, cornbread, baked beans, pieces of toast, etc. They also have like 9 different sauces with distinct flavors and tastes, so you get your weapons of choice right there. The waiting staff is very friendly, they always talk some bs with you to break the ice, which I think is cool every time. Everyone working there seems energized and happy to be there, which was a vibe I liked. Most of the times it's pretty crowded, but the place is so huge that you never have to wait in line. We always sit in a booth in the main hall, and there are always families there talking out loud and having a good time. I would come here for special occasions- birthdays, graduations, special events, etc., or come here if I was really hungry and was ready for some big portion, good ol' family meal. Love the burnt ends. That's pretty much it. :) We love catering and ordering takeout from Famous dave's. it's a good option for larger parties and everything is always prepared correctly. They take the time to make sure the order is fulfilled by taking everything out and packing it in front of you. The customer service is pretty great. The food itself is average/on the better side of average for BBQ, but again, it's a good option to have in our area, especially because it's on our way home from work and can be a quick pickup. Dave's is essentially the minimum standard for edible BBQ. Sometimes it's really good, and sometimes it is just serviceable, but usually the meats are are somewhere in the middle. Due to this location being close to my office, I end up here about once a month to have lunch with coworkers. The brisket and ribs are a complete toss up as far as whether they will be tender or not, but the rib tips are reasonably consistent. The daily specials or the lunch combos are the real reason to go here. You can't get a two meat plate for under $10 anywhere else, and the bottomless rib tips on Thursday for $14 is a great deal for the hungry individual. Speed of service tends to vary quite a bit, but the staff here is almost always friendly. Bottom line is that Dave's may not be the best Q, but it can be a good deal if you know what to get. read more

I cannot explain how pleasant of an experience I had at this restaurant. I did not have a good opinion of bbq from a chain restaurant as I am from the south, however, the combination of incredible service and great portion/taste of food was unforgettable. The hostess was so kind and our server was not only kind but informative and helpful in choosing our dinner. We got the Feast for 2 which was on special on Tuesday for $30 versus $41. Don't expect much from Uber orders usually one or two minor things are wrong and thats manageable. Every single thing was wrong with our order, except for the sodas. Somehow they gave us a cod sandwich when we ordered ribs. If they were out of ribs would have them call us for a substitution than to just take liberty. I've tried Famous Dave's twice now and both times were pretty good. The second time, the meat was a little drier.. the beef brisket basically reminded me of beef jerky lol. Both time I was here, I had the feast for 2.. and oh man.. it's SO MUCH FOOD. It definitely feeds 3.. The feast for 2 comes with: -Ribs -Pulled pork -Beef Briskets -Half a chicken -Coleslaw -Baked beans -Fries -Mac N Cheese (we switched out the corn) -Corn bread muffins I really like their sides. Their fries are definitely cooked to perfection, coleslaw is very refreshing.. there are little pork pieces in the baked beans that make it super delicious. The mac n cheese is just mediocre.. but what is a bbq without mac n cheese? You HAVE to order it. As for the meat... it's not thaaaat great. I've definitely had better bbq meat before.. but it's still pretty good and i would come back. The portion size is just so big for the price, that it makes it pretty worth it. Garlic Mashed - good, nothing notable. And the hot fudge brownie thing was amazing - huge, huge, huge! This section of the world is quickly becoming the epicenter of traffic - so parking can be a touch challenging, but it just means you might have to walk a bit - you'll find a spot even if it is out there (during busy times). The chopped pork was salty, the beans were not good, the mashed potatoes were just okay. The corn was okay, the corn muffin was good. The service was good and friendly, I always appreciate that.
