The parking lot was fairly empty upon our arrival but filled up quickly. We started out with catfish fingers, which were fried crispy but soft inside. My friend and I go out every Saturday night and try ribs from different restaurants, and I'm telling you - these are the best! Cons: The sides were not as tasty as I would have expected. The food is pretty good, not the best I've had, but it's good and it's fast. Today when I went to pick up an order, the company van was parked in a handicap parking space. Beside me, there was one other customer who had a handicap parking permit and was upset because there were no open handicap spaces. I first spoke with the cashier who said the driver wouldn't be long, the we spoke with the manager. In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, I decided to leave reviews for some of my favorite go to restaurants. I was never a bbq fan so I always overlooked Famous Dave's. Big mistake. The brisket is always good, but my favorite item is the Iris' Comeback Chicken Sandwich. You can't get it right now since they're not doing fried chicken (or at least that is what I was told) but when things return to "normal" you must try it. It makes you say "Popeyes Chicken Sandwich who??!" Lol! The food is always hot and as ordered. Wish they so did cocktails to go, though! Oh and don't sleep on the burgers--delicious! The portions are good, but if you're not super hungry and don't want to waste anything, order the Lil Wilbur cheeseburger. Pro tip: the kids cheeseburger is not on the to go menu online, but if you call your order in, they'll make it for you. I love Famous Dave's!!! It's one of my favourite BBQ joints! The atmosphere is laid back and the decor is just right. The music had me wishing there was a dance floor in the place!! The food is full of flavor but sometimes a tad too salty with the sauces. I love to order the rib tips and BBQ chicken. My fiancée loves to build a burger and my mom is a Dave's Sampler fanatic. The desserts are yummy too!! Our waiter was super nice and attentive! My only advice is the fix the bathrooms. Only one stall was working yesterday and maybe remodel it. When preparing the rib tips it would be nice if all the pieces were edible. Getting 12-15 rib tips and about 5 pieces are so tough you can't get a bite... I feel like a starving dog trying so hard to get a bite when I find those pieces on my platter! All good though... this isn't enough to make me not come back though! I haven't been to Famous Dave's in years. So I had a taste for BBQ and I was in the area so I said why not. I ordered brisket, chopped pork, beans and mashed potatoes. That brisket was GOOOODDDDD. I don't remember their brisket tasting that good. I've been struggling to find good brisket in this area and it's been under my nose this whole time. Chopped pork was good as well, no complaints there. Underrated to me is the muffin they give with the meal. DELICIOUS. Only reason they didn't get 5 stars is the sides. I love this place! We used to go to Annapolis but that one was closed down as well as the one in Largo. Glad this location is thriving. Service was amazing! Our waiter was attentive and could sell you anything on the menu. We came with a party of 10 and he suggested we get 2 of the All American platters which still left us all full. Personally, I love their catfish fingers, potato salad, cole slaw, and fatty brisket pieces! Can't go wrong with either one. Of course a lot of their sides are made with pork but the entrees allow more choices, which works out well for me. Then for dessert we all had the best dessert EVER.... the bread pudding! Now please understand, that this is a big thing for me because I never liked bread pudding until I tried theirs!!! OMG.... I love it so much! They give you a healthy slice topped with a praline sauce and ice cream to the side. It makes me feel joyful every time!!!! They are offering Takeout, Curbside Pickup as well as eat in! Their portions are on the larger side but are delicious regardless. It's still delicious the day after. I was in the mood for some Q and decided to try something different. This place has survived for quite a while, so I had fairly high expectations. The decor is pseudo north Midwest hunting lodge, with a lot of advertising signs for fishing gear and such. That should have warned me. Being hungry, I ordered the Feast for One, a tray full of a variety of their offerings and a good deal strictly on a quantity/price basis at $18.99. Going in increasing order of tastiness: Corn on the cob: perfect 3" controlled portion and impaired texture indicate that it was frozen. Cornbread: actually a muffin with the paper still on. Sweet, soft, Northern style. Barely better than Jiffy mix. Slaw: decent vegetables, but the dressing was runny and way too sweet. Beans: Campbell's doctored with a bit of meat and added sugar, salt and cayenne. Georgia chopped pork: Served over a slice of Texas toast with a dousing of sauce with way too much salt and heat. The meat itself was tender and moist, but had no smoke flavor. Fries: interesting ripple/wedge cut. Pretty well cooked. Chicken: Again, moist meat but no smoke flavor. Sauce was not quite as overpowering as the pork. Ribs: A BBQ joint lives or dies on the quality of its ribs. The meat was quite good, with solid smoke flavor and the proper slight chew to the texture. It almost saved them from Meh but for (you guessed it) the sauce. Ordering it "naked" and sparsely applying your choice of the six sauces on the table might make a decent meal. Service was attentive, but then there was only one other party in the room. I don't have a grill, so I was looking for some Labor Day bbq. This place hit the spot. Online ordering was easy. I ordered the burnt ends sandwich for lunch and the Founder's Feast for dinner (and leftovers for tomorrow's lunch). The burnt ends were super tender and I really like the sauce they were served in. The only problem is the salt. The sandwich wasn't salty enough to ruin the meal, but it certainly is more salt than I care to have on bbq. The salt competed w/ the great sauce and that's a shame. I'm hoping this was an off day and would love to try it again. I only nibbled on the Founder's Feast just to see if it was good. It was. Doesn't seem to have the same salt problems as the burnt ends. Although, I only took pinches of the sausage, brisket, and ribs, so I won't totally know until I eat it later. Overall, I'm willing to give this place another try.
