I don't dine at barbecue chains very often since I try to watch my diet, but I was happy to find plenty of options that weren't overly greasy, fried, or smothered in sauce. The meats are slow-smoked, and a variety of house barbecue sauces are conveniently available at each table so you can customize the flavor to your liking. Parking is easy, with a large free lot behind the building as well as free street parking nearby. We visited on a Friday afternoon with a group of 10 and were seated together without any problem. They also accommodated separate checks, which is always appreciated for larger groups. The dining room has a comfortable, spacious feel with dark wood accents and nostalgic photos and posters decorating the walls. The menu offers a good variety of barbecue favorites, combination platters, salads, and lunch specials. One member of our group needed gluten-free options, and the staff helped her find a meal that worked well for her dietary needs. Most of us ordered the pulled pork sandwich, while others chose salads. We also shared the onion loaf appetizer, which disappeared quickly. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. Our server was covering several tables, so service was a little slow at times, but she remained friendly, attentive, and handled our requests professionally. The portions were generous, prices were reasonable, and the quality exceeded my expectations. I'd happily return with family to sample more of their smoked meats--especially the ribs.

The sides come in sauce or condiment size cups. The green beans and macaroni and cheese are decent. The collard greens? Terrible not a pinch of salt or pepper it's as if they forgot if they seasoned it and said whatever they'll be fine. Coleslaw not good just mayo and mustard nothing else. Mac and cheese is just boxed mac and cheese. The brisket was not only dry but also tasteless. The ribs were burnt to the crisp and slathered in bbq sauce. I had the most high hopes for this place as I've seen it for years but this was terrible

Been to this Mission BBQ multiple times since living near Laurel in western Anne Arundel County in…read moreRussett as this is my closest location. I normally get the beef brisket either sandwich or entree, which comes with cornbread, and mac n' cheese or beans. Brisket you can get lean or moist. Moist is even more delicious, but less healthy than lean. Also, there are 6 varieties of BBQ sauces. My favorites are Texas Twang & West Virginia one. They have a Maryland style, which is a pretty good effort. There's also Carolina, Mississippi, & one other one. Good BBQ is hard to come by in MD, but Mission BBQ is always a great choice. Their blueberry clobber is incredible too, which I got a couple of times for free around Valentine's Day. Staff has always been nice at the Laurel location. Also, they support the troops & first responders. On 9/11 anniversary, they get a free sandwich that day. In 2024, my conservative dad also told me that at Noon everyday, they do the National Anthem. I asked my dad follow-up questions: Me: "Walked in at 12:05. Wonder if they still do that. Never heard them do before, but never was here exactly at 12. Do people stand up for national anthem at 12 even if they are in the middle of eating? Dad: "Yes" Me: "Does everyone stand up, or do some stay seated as they don't want their food to get cold or whatever?" Dad: "The employees stop working. Everyone except liberals stand up. They all face the flag waving on the TV until it is done. Many clap at the end of cheer." Me: "Oh wow, that's cool. So you do see some liberals stay seated?" Dad: "Just kidding on that." Me: "Oh and is it at every location? Like does Laurel, MD & all of them do it?" Dad: "All of them" Another time I arrived just before noon, which was nice as everyone stood up to put their hand on their heart while National Anthem is played. In 2024, my friend had a differing opinion from my dad on this noon National Anthem: Me: "Just missed National Anthem. My dad said Mission BBQ does at Noon everyday. I've never been right at noon." Him: "I would be pissed if I was in the middle of eating and had to stand up for national anthem." Me: "I hope I'm there one day so I can participate." Him: "Dealbreaker for an early lunch there for me." Me: "Liberals eat late. Conservatives eat first." Him: "Yeah they should have the conservatives eat at 11:30 and the libs eat at 12:30." Overall, I highly recommend Mission BBQ for the great food and friendly service.

There was like a tangy sauce on the tuna which took away from the flavor of the fish and for $22 I was expecting something a bit more. They usually have reservations and larger parties, but it's a pretty open/communal space, so there aren't typically issues with seating. All in all, a great spot for many occasions.

I am not much of a beer drinker so was happy to see they had some cocktail options. I ordered the Blackberry mule. It was just the right amount of sweetness in my opinion. My friend got a flight- their favorite was the Udder Chocolate with Boats and Hose as the runner up. I wasn't originally planning to get food but could not help myself when I saw they had a Chicago style hotdog. It was tasty despite being a bit of a mess to eat with the topping piled high. It comes with a side of kettle cooked chips that somehow managed to be just as good, maybe even better than the hot dog. The bartenders were pleasant and efficient with checking in on us and clearing plates as needed.

Usually with brunch we would do the bottomless mimosas and all but because I was driving I decided not to participate in that. And usually I would get chicken and waffles but I was in the mood for a burger. So I thought because their name is "Mad Cow" the burger would be the bomb...but nope it was not good at all. So I prefer a beef burger cooked medium with blue cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onions. When I burger got tot the table it was dry as a board. No blue cheese that I paid extra for and the burger was not cooked correctly it was cooked well done. Smdh. So the waiter brought me my blue cheese apologized about it and also gave me a mayo bottle. Even with the burger still was not good and the patty was so thick with no flavor not even salt and pepper was in it!! I tried their punch drink which was really good but for $15 a pop in a regular water glass was ridiculous. Make sure you don't get too tipsy as they already have like a 20% gratuity added on each of our checks no matter how small or big your group is which again is ridiculous! Will I come back...maybe only because I would like to try some Jamaican food they offer. But for brunch...it's a no for me!

Today, I gave them another shot because Uber Eats was offering a buy one, get one free deal on the jerk chicken meal. I chose rice & peas with plantain for my sides. The chicken was cooked on the grill--which I love--because it really brings out the flavor in jerk chicken. I also requested my jerk sauce on the side since I prefer a dry rub style over a saucy one. The only drawback was the small bone pieces in the chicken and rice. That's something to be cautious about, especially if a child is eating the meal. The plantains were also inconsistent--some pieces were hard, while others were mushy. On the bright side, the coco bread was perfect and the Jamaican rum cake was phenomenal. Whoever baked that cake clearly took their time soaking it in rum. It reminded me of the way my grandmother used to make it--absolutely delicious. I would definitely order the rum cake again.

The name "Soul Boat" definitely lured me in but instead I got canned greens and uncandid yams. I was beyond disappointed the moment I walked in but decided to give them a shot anyway because I was hungry. My wife and I ordered the following: Whiting Fish Platter, Shrimp Platter, along with fried Calamari. The platters come with two sides. The whiting platter I ordered I chose collard greens and candid yams. You can tell the greens came out the can. The amount of stems and blandness annoyed me from the first bit. The candid yams have nothing sweet about them. The fish was unseasoned can tasted like a filet that was just dumped in a deep fryer and pulled out. I threw most of this away outside of the fish. My wife ordered the shrimp platter with mac and cheese and greens. The shrimp are LARGE. Same problem with the greens. The Mac & Cheese just wasn't giving. I also ordered a side of Calamari. I took one bite and the trash that went as well. This didn't appear to be seasoned or cooked as well. The food here is awful. No clue how people eat here. Living off the soul name is ridiculous as mostly everything felt like it came out of a can. I'll never come back here and I'd advise you save your time and money. The only thing good about this place is the staff and the fancy bags your food comes in. I do not recommend.

The table behind me said they saw something too. I told the server, Andrew and he offered to give us a discount and admitted to having a mouse issue lately. That should have been the warning sign for me but we just got our food. I kept looking over and I didn't see anything but Andrew placed the broom and dust pan near where the mouse was. So I got up to get some cream puffs and as I about to sit down, the mouse came back and I told Andrew and he got the broom and dust pan and caught the mouse and killed it and proceeded to have us pay. This is what really ticked me off. I went to the front before we left and asked to speak to a manager. The girl looked and then looked over at her friend (who probably wasn't the manager) and said here she is. I told her what happened and she said "yeah sorry, we have someone coming next week and he didn't kill the mouse, he let the mouse go right outside". SERIOUSLY? That mouse is coming right back inside! This is a problem that pest control needs to come out IMMEDIATELY! I just watched a mouse get killed/caught while trying to eat! I stopped and lost my complete appetite. I will be informing the PG county health department immediately and I will never come back here if this is how they operate. The "manager" clearly was more focused on closing and getting out at 10:30pm (they close at 11pm).

This spot has so many wonderful food stands. Upon walking in, you can pick up a cart to explore all of the stands. My kids love this place as much as me since you can find so much variety. Our first stop is the very busy Amish soft pretzel stand. My kids love the standard soft pretzel dipped in melted butter and topped with rock salt. My personal favorite are the stuffed soft pretzels like the pretzels stuffed with roast beef and cooper sharp cheddar. Nothing tastes better! There are also many other stands that offer fresh produce, meats, cheeses and baked goods. I particularly like Bieler's Donuts, the same place you'll find packed lines in Philadelphia right here. It's such a fun place and my kids love it. But most importantly, this is dad's spot!

Using his wits, his ingenuity, and unparalleled levels of skill and perseverance, Aatami Korpi, who earns the moniker of "the man who cannot die," escapes not just bombs and machine gun fire but a plane deployed as a missile. And yet, the most moving moment of the film is not found in one of its many arresting action sequences but in a single line of dialogue, spoken by one of six Finnish men, who, along with one teenager and one boy, carrying hatchets, axes, and tools, interrupts the battle-finished Korpi's work on his new home to ask in Finnish, subtitled in English, "We thought you might need some help?" Speechless and shaking with relief and joy, Korpi watches the strangers get to work on his roof, walls, and foundation. That level of kindness, assistance, delight, joy, skill, and service can be seen in every vendor at the Dutch Country Market Thursdays through Saturdays at 9701 Fort Meade Rd in Laurel, MD. Whether it is homemade pretzels, pasta salads, chili, produce, meats, cheeses, popcorn, donuts, or varieties of dark chocolate, candy, or fudge you seek, you will find plenty to whet your appetite.
