    Chicken Tenders!!!
    Scott E.

In author Jana Deleon's Miss Fortune mystery series, mostly set in Sinful, Louisiana, CIA assassin Fortune Redding goes undercover as her boss's niece to elude a hit that has been placed on her and meets the two, elderly, founding members of the Sinful Ladies Society, Ida Belle and Gertie, who hold a few secrets of their own. When Gertie's attention isn't directed to her purse, often stuffed with dynamite, grenades, and a Desert Eagle, it might be directed to her sometimes-pet alligator, lovingly nicknamed Godzilla, whose cravings for Gertie's legendary casseroles often lure him from the bayou to neighboring back yards for the delicacy. But what if the Miss Fortune series were set in Beltsville, Maryland, where, in a lifetime, one might only come across a bear or a coyote once, but the other critters (beavers, muskrats, foxes, squirrels) would only create havoc if rabid? What could entice a solitary coyote to back away? Perhaps the succulent Angus burgers of newly-opened WNB Factory, located in the same Chestnut Hills Shopping Center as La Familia Bakery and Pet Supplies Plus, could satiate the coyote's hunger. My wife certainly enjoyed her Factory Burger on Brioche with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, house sauce, and Mayo; and I enjoyed my Big TX Burger with a fried onion ring, tomatoes, cheddar, American cheese, and chili. I do want to impart a few words of wisdom to nit-picky eaters like me: if there's anything on your burger that you don't want (Mayo, house sauce, pickles, in my case), tell the person who takes your order. Otherwise, they might make an unwelcome appearance just like Gertie's gator.

I liked the wings here! I just came from Atlanta and had hot bbq wings and they were bomb so I had to find some here. They were comparable but def not Atlanta. The wings were crispy and saucy. I wouldn't get the lemon pepper wings here. They definitely failed...the sauce was awkward. It was super oily. I wouldn't get the cheesesteak egg rolls either. Not worth it... Not much going on.

first time coming to this place, the customer service is absolutely amazing, the young man at the front was extremely polite and welcoming, restaurant is super clean and food was outstanding, I had been seeing this spot for a while and finally decided too give the place a try . This is my new go-to place, if my wallet is ever in trouble lol .

The wings are definitely worth the try. Crispy and tender. That's a great plus for me.

It was well made but for $10, kinda steep and in a small glass. Wasn't super hungry so I got the korean bbq wings (comes in 6) with a side of ranch and they were tasty. I love all the terp decor! It's close to home, and when I don't have anything to do, I find myself here. But it's just not the menu selections. Especially on Saturdays, Nelson is the bartender, and he's friendly, welcoming, and handles a full bar very well. And the playlist is always on point when he's bartending. I've heard a surprising amount of dancehall & reggae that I can't help but appreciate when he's there. By the way, you must try the chili nachos and onion rings. Those things are addictive -- and everything is delightfully affordable. Sometimes it's crowded, sometimes it isn't... but based on how I enjoy everything, it should be. And if you're a University of Maryland alumnus or even a fan, you will enjoy the vibe there. There is Terp swag and decor everywhere. They did a fantastic job taking over the space that used to be Hard Times Cafe. And when the weather is nice, they have a spacious patio. With this bar / restaurant, Home Depot, a board game store, and a comic book store all within walking distance of each other, I can't really ask for me, haha. And it's right off of exit 25... so convenient!

My son ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, Mayo and Z sauce. He reported it as "Highly satisfying, comparable to the ChiK-Fil-A spicy." I chose the Single Patty Cheeseburger with small fries and a drink. My cheeseburger was good but not spectacular. The fries, ditto. Pro Tips: -The fries are generously portioned in all three sizes. My small was enough for the three of us to share; -The drinks are available in bottles, only. The fountain dispensary is broken; -Be prepared to spend- Z Burgers does not feature any combo specials, so you'll pay a la carte for every item. Our bill, for two sandos, a small fry and one Dr. Pepper, was $28.72...which is downright pricey. (And I write this as a lifelong Los Angeleno accustomed to living in the country's second most expensive marketplace). A nice gesture by the folks at Z Burgers that helped elevate this review from three to four stars: The inclusion of dainty but utterly delicious Baklava pastries at a closing kiss to your meal.

Usually with brunch we would do the bottomless mimosas and all but because I was driving I decided not to participate in that. And usually I would get chicken and waffles but I was in the mood for a burger. So I thought because their name is "Mad Cow" the burger would be the bomb...but nope it was not good at all. So I prefer a beef burger cooked medium with blue cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onions. When I burger got tot the table it was dry as a board. No blue cheese that I paid extra for and the burger was not cooked correctly it was cooked well done. Smdh. So the waiter brought me my blue cheese apologized about it and also gave me a mayo bottle. Even with the burger still was not good and the patty was so thick with no flavor not even salt and pepper was in it!! I tried their punch drink which was really good but for $15 a pop in a regular water glass was ridiculous. Make sure you don't get too tipsy as they already have like a 20% gratuity added on each of our checks no matter how small or big your group is which again is ridiculous! Will I come back...maybe only because I would like to try some Jamaican food they offer. But for brunch...it's a no for me!

Today, I gave them another shot because Uber Eats was offering a buy one, get one free deal on the jerk chicken meal. I chose rice & peas with plantain for my sides. The chicken was cooked on the grill--which I love--because it really brings out the flavor in jerk chicken. I also requested my jerk sauce on the side since I prefer a dry rub style over a saucy one. The only drawback was the small bone pieces in the chicken and rice. That's something to be cautious about, especially if a child is eating the meal. The plantains were also inconsistent--some pieces were hard, while others were mushy. On the bright side, the coco bread was perfect and the Jamaican rum cake was phenomenal. Whoever baked that cake clearly took their time soaking it in rum. It reminded me of the way my grandmother used to make it--absolutely delicious. I would definitely order the rum cake again.

Now parking and being comfortable, that might be where the fun stops. The parking lot and both the inside of the bar are both stuffffffy. Super congested. Additionally, there's houses and I believe a car shop near-by, that causes further congestion in the surrounding area. BUT once you are parked and in, you will have a warm-time. I also believe that this location could increase their ac-use. It was HOT in here the one time I visited.

I had a friend who used to go and pick up tamales at Remington's, decades ago, and share them with me. I've never been inside. I knew their food was consistently reliable based on the fact that people are still crowding its parking lot. Remington's sits on a long stretch of road with two major towns at each end: College Park and Laurel. There have been nights - decades ago - in bad weather, driving along this long stretch of road where nothing else in the densely built suburban landscape to the left and right of it was open. But Remington's faithfully was and still is with its lit sign. Sort of like a true outpost in an old Western. Remington's is all bar stools, bar and high-top tables unless you are eating at the picnic tables or smoking cigars and sipping whiskey on the covered outdoor patio. But if you want to eat indoors, I think there are only 4 standard tables in the restaurant. This is a clean and comfortable dive bar atmosphere with tv monitors for sports. Yelp asked if Remington's was intimate, and yes, because it is small and cozy. I wonder if Remington's hasn't gotten fancy - in food and beverages - over the years to keep pace with the not-so-distant University of Maryland students. Since I've never been inside before, I wouldn't know how it used to be. Our crowd appeared as locals, less elite and middle-aged gathered for the FIFA games. I was surprised to find - in the outpost-like atmosphere Remington's has always been located in - most burgers are over $18. But this is one place where I'm not complaining because the food was darn good. Let's start with the mussels. If I were a Belgian chef I do not think that I could have made these mussels - and their glorious broth - better. The mussels were tender and flavorful. The cream broth was the best. This broth was the most creamy and simultaneously ultra-garlicky that I've enjoyed. I loved the tomatoes seasoned with a spicy kick tossed in. This is a culinary refinement because if they are actually cooked into the broth, the tomatoes would change the color of the white broth, and its taste. These tomatoes were a welcome touch. I don't know if this is a Maryland style of broth but sign me up. I'm talking a mussel broth love affair over here. The cheesesteak was better than most in this area. I wasn't hallelujah-ing in the aisles but I liked that the meat actually wasn't flimsy. It tasted like a thinly-chopped ribeye, a bit chewy with a sear. I liked the size of the strips. Was it actually steak vs. frozen beef paper slices? I think I can say, "yes," it's actually a cheese steak." The Reuben sandwich was well seasoned. I think it was thousand island, but whatever it was had a nice flavor. It's not easy to find a place where you can order Reuben's these days. On Yelp, I saw an Indian Butter Chicken pizza but I didn't find it. I wonder if it could be requested. They have so many varieties of pizza combinations. I'm just taking a wild guess and thinking that their pizzas are as equally flavorful. I ordered a cranberry fruit crush. Yum! Righteously. I don't know if it was juice added to another orange, fruity mixture but I loved it. It was sweet at first and then strong: all in the first sip. Sampled beers: 1. The Main Beer Company's "Lunch" IPA. This is straight grapefruit hops on the palette. A characteristic strong body. Bitter as should be for a New England IPA. 2. Bells Two-Hearted IPA (ABV 7.0%): this one was very drinkable and by that I mean I really enjoyed it. It is brewed with centennial hops from the Pacific Northwest. Yes. It is described as having, "hop aromas ranging from pine to grapefruit." 3. Elysian's Space Dust (ABV 8.2%) is pure IPA. Strong likely from the chinook. It's from Michigan. It's described as a "Great Western premium two row with c-15 and Dextri-pils." Not a beer snob but I appreciate the geeking-out and Dr. Seuss-inspired branding. New England IPA fans will love this one. I'm only a fan of West Coast-style IPA's. 4. RaR Grove City Hefeweisen (ABV 5.3%) is a clear and light hefeweizen. Easy to drink. Highly recommended, with a few added oranges. A half of a ripe white peach would be interesting in this beer, if the bar happened to have them. Remington's markets Whiskey Flights as a way to taste rare bottles. They do not list the prices on these flights. I guess it's an, "if they have to ask ..." scenario. I am intrigued about these whiskey flight prices. I didn't catch the times of happy hour but there is also a golden hour. I also saw daily special weekday prices from 7pm and onward. Maybe this is the golden hour. Like the one restaurant open through rain, wind, sleet and snow, serving up its magic faithfully for decades. Whatever the case, this is one restaurant that appears like a dive bar but over-delivers in food quality and taste. Applause for Remington's!
