We came when the hood wasn't working so the place was quite smoky. We ordered a single Sonoran burger $14 combo. I unfortunately wasn't able to taste the smashed burger past the overly burnt cheese. Visited in a Saturday evening and I have to say downtown Mesa has completely transformed from what it used to be. The streets were lively with people and bands playing on almost every corner. Tried out this place and for the long line I was expecting to be blown away by the food but it was just a good standard burger and fries. We tried the double bacon cheeseburger with pickles. I'm not a fan of sweet pickles and these were a bit sweet for my taste, so I would skip them next time. Right across the street from one of the few chain restaurants "Pedal Haus" is this cool little burger joint. They have a nice musical vibe with a varied mix. Very varied. Super cool. My wife had the classic burger and fries. She said it was delicious. Ranking up there with anything else she likes... The Five Guys, 7 Brothers, or In N Outs of the world. Sesame seed buns are always a plus. I had the Chiwas Burger Protein style. The patties were cooked great with just enough seasoning to give the meat flavor but not take away from the flavor of the meat. The sauce was amazing. It added a sweetness that distract from the small subtle bite of the spicy peppers. Full disclosure, I've been dabbling in spicy lately but still very much overreacted to anything over a super mild. Not gonna lie, I had to come here two days in a row to give a solid opinion. The first day I got a classic double and it had caramelized onions on it. Now, I truly think it's a sin to put caramelized onions On a classic unless you're at a White Castle but that's me. Day two, I ask for raw onions and they were more than happy to make it that way. We were in the area for an event and when I saw a joyful burger mascot I knew it was go time. WOW wow wow, first they were busy, but the service was amazing. The order taker knew the food, made recommendations, and even brought us our food. The big draw is green chilis. I love me some green chilis and woohoo. The menu is very simple which is nice because you don't have a million decisions to make. The service was great and despite being busy, they were really prompt on every order placed. The burger was very smash burger style but with house sauce and sautéed onions, it was the perfect amount of crispy and moist. The flavors were on point. The fries were hand cut style and crispy which I love but a few were just a tad too hard. Soft drinks and free refills really made this place shine. This is my third review of this burger spot. I have to say, I have been a few times for lunch since my first review and this time just after 5 pm on a Thursday night really fell short. The burger was out suspiciously fast. The patties were dry, under seasoned, and the cheese was charred like it was cooked on the griddle top. There was a hint of heat from the jalapenos on the Sonora burger but it seriously lacked the punch that I came to love about it from past visits. I hope this isn't the new status quo. It's a cool little spot, inside vibes are very much like an old time burger diner, which I loved. The staff were friendly and helpful. I got the Double Chiwas (roasted green chile) burger. I am glad we finally made it out here. I had a tough day after work last week, and my husband ended up not making dinner so we got some burgers! They have their own parking lot, but right behind them is public and free parking with many more spaces. The inside is a little small, but there is a plenty of seating outside. They make everything to order, so you can smell the grill once the order goes in. We ordered the Classic burger, single patty, the hotdog, and a cheesecake. The classic burger was pretty good - loved their pickles! Next time, we will try the other burger styles as it might give us the little oomph we were hoping for. The hotdog though was TOP TIER. I thought I would be wowed but I just wasn't. I am a self proclaimed burger lover, and so I enjoyed it but I thought given the new place, higher prices, and mention of award winning chef it would be one of the better burgers I've had. It wasn't. And the connection to tacos Chiwas set my expectations higher since I love them. I might give it another try next time I'm over in the area. Not opposed to it. We have made an attempt at eating at Main Burger a couple weeks ago, but there was such a long line and no seating because of the crowd that we decided to wait a couple weeks. It was still busy, but we didn't have trouble getting a table for four inside at around 5:30. It did look to be picking up a little with people having to sit outside by the time we left. I'm a huge fan of restaurants from the Chiwas group. I especially love Espiritu and Santo Arcadia (the birria dumplings are amazing!!!). I've had the burger at Espiritu, and thought it was fantastic. I kind of had the same hopes for Main Burger. There's not much to the interior. White walls and a counter to order at, some basic tables and chairs. There is a pretty cool neon piece on the wall, and a painting of the main burger man on one wall. That's just about it - - cute enough but nothing special. I'm a little surprised at some of the reviews saying it's very instagrammable. Maybe I'm missing something? We ordered the Chiwas burger and the classic burger, both with fries. I wanted to be blown away by these burgers. They were fine. They were burgers. Again I'm kind of surprised at people saying these are mind-blowing burgers. There's nothing especially fantastic. They're just burgers with various toppings. They seemed to fall someplace between fast food burgers and full-service restaurant burgers. I didn't care for the fries. By the time I got them they were room temperature and kind of chewy. Don't get me wrong, I did not dislike this place. It was fine. I just can't help but wonder if people are jumping on the bandwagon and playing into the hype because of the talent that the Chiwas group is known for. People jump on these bandwagons all the time. I think that if this place opened and did not have their names attached to it, it might go unnoticed. Again, not bad, just not as fantastic as I keep hearing about. Will I be back? We went for dinner on a Saturday and were slightly worried that we wouldn't be able to get a table, but one table opened up right after we ordered. I really like how they redecorated the space. We enjoyed the music and the atmosphere is clean with tiled walls and pops of pink in the baskets and decor. We really enjoyed the food. The burgers were juicy and flavorful. The fries were hot and crispy. The cheese sauce I dipped my fries in had an excellent flavor but was a bit thin and didn't stick to the fries very well. Been waiting for this place to open as the notoriety of the chef has proven to to provide great food in the valley. The sonoran burger was good, bacon with finishing salt was a little too overpowering but they're still in soft opening and will probably get it fixed. The chiwas burger with the ham was a nice touch of flavor as the green chile added some slight heat. Fries were crispy! And they give you alot! Portion overall were good.
