I'm sorry to say this is not my favorite BBQ spot in town. My husband and I came in for lunch, and, like most Famous Dave's locations, it has a cute Western feel. We sat in a booth in the bar area. Our first mistake may have been skipping the $35 Feast for 2-sday special and ordering from the lunch menu instead. My husband chose the Texas beef brisket sandwich with BBQ chips, and I ordered the two meat combo with pulled pork, burnt ends, and coleslaw. There was only one server in the bar area, so it took a while for our food to arrive, but it did come out hot. As for the food, the pulled pork was tasty but didn't really have that smoked flavor. It reminded me more of something I could make in a slow cooker. The burnt ends were disappointing. I'm used to them being caramelized with a bit of a crust, but these were soft and even a little mushy. The coleslaw was good. My husband felt the same about his brisket. It lacked smokiness and was a bit too soft. The chips were tasty, but didn't have much BBQ seasoning. I have experienced this twice and both times I left with close to half the food after enjoying it with my family. Not only is it a very fair price for enough food to feed that kind of a group but the quality is incredible. The catfish Omg Granted, catfish is not for everyone. But this, this was great! Perfect batter, perfect seasoning, crispy outer, fluffy, tender moist meat on the inside. Not a bone in one of them. I dont like that they have Kraft Mac n cheese. Our kiddos like fresh made one. So we ordered the Dave's Mac n cheese. They liked that, but also ate more of the fries than anything. Our company of nine stopped by Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que in Reno and was immediately impressed by how fast the food came out - lightning quick! The atmosphere was very cool with an authentic BBQ vibe. Personally - loved the wall decor and the spacious layout with a variety of diff seating styles that made the place feel comfortable and welcoming. Service was another highlight - staff were attentive, friendly, and made the visit pleasant overall. As for the BBQ itself, it was fine but didn't quite stand out, especially given how fast it arrived. It felt like there's still room for improvement in terms of flavor and overall impact. it has been a few years since we have been here, life gets busy! I'll be had a doctors appointment in town, so we brought our little camper van to stay in the parking lot because it was a super early appointment. I waited up front and no one came to greet me. I walked into the dinning room and a server saw me and helped me out. I was seated right then. It's a pretty big dinning area. There were a few tables of customers. My waitress was really bubbly and nice. Another delicious meal. We only come on the weekends into Reno. So this is a regular stop for us. Wait staff are always really nice and on top of recommendations. We wanted a booth, so it was a little wait today. No biggie.
