    poke and pork nacho
    Amanda W.

We were craving some Hawaiian food and were so delighted to see that Reno/Sparks had just what we were looking for! We ordered the Kalua pork with rice and mac and cheese, poke and pork nacho, and Portuguese sausage. We did take out but the place inside was super clean and the staff was extremely friendly. The Kalua pork was seasoned really well and paired nicely with some taro sweet buns that we had at home. The Portuguese sausage was delicious. Our favorite though was as the poke and pork nacho - that's a must try! The poke was fresh and sauce they had on top was AMAZING! Love the food and vibes from here!

I can't believe I haven't updated my review for Kika's in three years. We've gone numerous times and Kika's is our most favorite Hawaiian food place in town. They are definitely the best place to fulfill our island cravings. On Fridays, they have loco mocos as the special of the day and that's what drew us in today. By 12:15 they were out of their regular loco mocos, but they had a special one, where the burger was marinated in teriyaki. We ordered that and a combo katsu+teriyaki chicken plate. My hubby and I shared both plates and it was a fantastic selection of great flavors. The burger had that excellent grilled char we love and the gravy was perfectly savory and seasoned. The katsu chicken was crispy and not overly breaded. Dipped in the katsu sauce made for perfect bites. The teriyaki chicken is a long-time favorite and it too was delicious. The accompanying rice and mac salad complete the quintessential Hawaiian plate meal. Service at the counter was friendly and cheerful. We didn't have to wait too long as we got there just in time before the busy lunch crowd arrivals. It's a comfortable, locals feeling place with great food and service. Highly recommend for everyone to try. Note--they are only open Monday through Friday. Wish they were open for dinner!

Some good local style hawaiian grindz. When in Reno, check out Kikas for their plates you won't be disappointed. Good customer service cashier was upbeat and polite as well as welcoming. Good vibes and gets a bit busy during lunch time so calling in may be an option. Try em out!

First time here and I thought it was mighty tasty. Pork was juicy and had great flavor. Chicken wasn't salty and had great flavor. I liked the Cole slaw with pineapple, and then I put some of the rice in to soak up the juice. Hubby had the beef/chicken combo with rice and Mac salad.... He devoured it all and said the beef wasn't salty a lil salty, but enjoyed the chicken. Staff was friendly and accommodating, answered any of our questions and made our plates to our liking of the items we wanted to try. Place had nice open seating area. If using your credit card there is a 4% additional charge. I would definitely comeback again.

Kikas is such an amazing Hawaiian cuisine at an affordable price! Finding the restaurant is a bit difficult on busy South McCarran, but it's totally worth it. I've been craving good, tender pork and Kika delivers with tasty sides to pair. The katsu chicken was also really good, seasoned well and the katsu sauce is addicting. Both plates were portioned big, which is rare to find nowadays. There are other items I'd like to try, so I will be revisiting and highly recommend checking out!

The wait is worth it! This place is packed for the lunch rush, but I totally see why. Can't wait to try dessert next time. Awesome job!

Came by this place for lunch, and recommended by friends. My first visit to this restaurant. I love Hawaiian food, especially if they are local, small businesses. As I came in at the front door, I was immediately greeted my the owner, asking if I been helped. Follow by friendly girl at the register who took my order. As I look around this small restaurant, it's nice and welcoming. I ordered chicken teriyaki plate, with pineapple coleslaw and spam musubi. The chicken is well marinated good texture, also savory. Good portion too. I picked pineapple coleslaw, it's delicious , first time trying coleslaw with pineapple. I would come back to try others on the menu. With Reno being small, Hawaiian food option are limited. (Locally owned / small businesses that are not franchise).

Running errands on a Monday I had to stop by to treat myself with Kikas since the stars aligned and I was in the area and they were open. Ordered ahead while entering Reno from Carson lady on the phone told me 15 mins and it was perfect timing. Got to kikas and my platter was FILLED I was excited. Smelling the katsu in my car filling with sweet, fried chicken cutlet was mouth watering the moment I got home I put my groceries away to properly enjoy my meal. Always worth stopping by and recommend this to anyone who is able to make it happen instead of the typical chain Hawaiian restaurant. Always a friendly vibe can't wait to come back

In Reno for a baseball tournament and we were so over eating the food here and wanted a little piece of home ( Hawai'i). We come to Kikas every time we are in Reno and they do not disappoint. Everything we had there was MAYJAH.. Garlic chicken special today was cooked to perfection. Will probably come here another 1-2 times before we leave..

Hands down the best Hawaiian food in Reno. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu but the real treat is their weekly specials. The garlic chicken on Wednesdays is to die for and on Fridays they have Loco Moco which is also delicious. A great business full of great people that is absolutely a must-hit lunch spot.

We finally managed to make it to Kikas during their operating hours. Husband and I shared a chicken katsu plate and some fries with sauce. The macaroni salad was very flavorful, we quickly decided the one scoop that accompanied the plate was not going to be enough, so we ordered an extra scoop! The fries with sauce have a nice citrusy flavor. The place had a steady pace of visitors during the lunch hour, but the staff worked so efficiently, the wait for food wasn't too long.

Clean, colorful and bright-super cute interior with small patio section in front. The most wonderful cooking aroma the minute you walk through the door. We knew we were getting the teriyaki chicken plates but next time I'll also get the nachos. Our server gave us a complimentary portion of it and it was amazing!! Speaking of service-very friendly and professional. Food came quickly and it is some of the best Hawaiian bbq I've tasted. Portions are large-macaroni salad creamy perfection. Add this restaurant to your must visit list!

Service was quick and friendly. We all ordered the kalua pork plate. It came with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of macaroni salad. It all came out fairly quick. The pork had a lot of flavor. There was nothing that needed to be added to it. The rice was standard rice you get at any Hawaiian restaurant. The macaroni salad was great. It reminded me of the same stuff you get in Hawaii. My husband said the masubi was good he really enjoyed it. All in all it's a good place to get a quick and flavorful lunch.

I traveled the USA and Canada for many years playing Sax with lots of bands (www.RickMetz.com) and the only choice I had was wherever the band vehicle stopped. Usually, we were under time constraints and we got the quickest thing available. I never liked it... But, if there was a little extra time available, I'd try to find a "real" restaurant in the vicinity to eat at. Didn't happen as often as I would've liked, but I made do. I've tried multitudes of fast food places because of those circumstances...nothing was really to my liking...especially the "major" fast food chains...you know which ones I'm referring to. Then I tried In N Out while touring through California!! OMG! I loved it! Smiling, friendly employees, clean establishments, great customer service...and still fast. (Pro tip: if the drive thru is jam packed? Park and go inside) Always made fresh and to order... Once I learned the "secret menu", that was the kicker for me! (https://www.in-n-out.com/menu/not-so-secret-menu) To be able to customize my burger in any way I wanted it at a "fast food" restaurant? Blew my mind! This is the ONLY "fast food" that I'll seek out... There's lots of debate as to their fries and their shakes. I like the shakes, but only get one once in a while...not a fan of the fries...but, I don't eat a lot of fries anyway... My go to? 2x3, Animal style, no pickles, no tomatoes, add hot peppers. Always delicious! Even though the price has increased over the years, I still feel that it's well worth it. You should try it to see what YOU think!

The owner of Ruby Shake Shop routinely parks his Audi in the limited public street parking spaces along South Virginia Street directly in front of Raising Cane's, Ike's Love & Sandwiches, and the surrounding businesses. Anyone familiar with this area knows parking can already be difficult, especially during peak hours when people are trying to grab lunch, pick up an order, or make a quick stop. What makes this particularly frustrating is that these spaces appear to be occupied for extended periods of time, often throughout the day, by someone who owns and operates a nearby business. Public street parking in a busy commercial corridor is a shared resource intended to serve customers and visitors, not to function as a personal parking space for a single business owner. This review is not a reflection of the products or service at Ruby Shake Shop. It is simply feedback regarding what appears to be an extremely inconsiderate use of limited public parking in an area where parking availability already impacts customers and neighboring businesses.
