Came here today at a time when it was relatively dead. Our food was pretty good but took a very long time to come out, and quite pricy for the quality(not to mention the temperature - everything we had was lukewarm). I have been here a few times over the years. I love the area of this location and the view of the boardwalk from inside. The staff are helpful and everyone there is your waiter so it's not hard to find help. I typically order their waffle for me along with grits and eggs for my children and they love it. I eat turkey sausage or Turkey bacon but their turkey sausage taste as if it is boiled or steamed it's watery. I just feel that is and important part in my breakfast and that's why I chose 4 stars. There is typically a wait time on the weekends but you can join the wait on Yelp and it will save you time. I love that they offer this option it is so convenient. If you are in the university area I recommend you check them out for your brunch needs. read more

Delicious and in-expensive. Came here for brunch, loved the mimosa flight and the pancakes were beyond delicious. Staff was kind. If it's busy there can be a wait but the food is worth a little wait. The bill came and it was $41 when I got to the cash register they said it was $45 and I told the woman that there must be some mistake and I showed her my original bill. she said she was sorry and she would try to problem. She could not do so and said I have to get the manager. after 8 1/2 minutes the manager came over and tried to fix the say she was sorry and she had an attitude. She also said was $45 not 41 even though I showed her the bill for $41. there was no adjustment to the bill and I paid it with a credit card. It was ready to leave when I said I will never come back here and what you have done to me is committed fraud. She said that she didn't care if I ever doesn't leave my business and then she asked me to read the restaurant. I may be a senior citizen, but it was not right to rip me off, especially in front of my two grandchildren and to be so rude to me. read more

Service was good and the food was fantastic. I ordered the corned beef hash and it was the best I ever had. I also ordered my eggs over-medium and the were cooked perfectly which rarely happens. The only thing that missed the mark was the coffee, it was drinkable but a bit on the bitter side. I would not hesitate to eat here again or tell others to visit. read more

Very average for a breakfast place. The menu looked really good but I was disappointed in the food. The quality was fine and the service was good anf friendly, but my omelet was a bit bland. I can get made-to-order omelets in the cafeteria in my office that are better. My wife got a breakfast sandwich. I've been to Famous Toastery more times than I can recall and this particular location several times with no issues. The service I received today is subpar at its best. I watched as the waitress repeatedly ignored my daughter and I. I eat her as she catered to tables that came in after us. I had to ask her to take our order and instead of putting it in with the kitchen she took the drink and food order of a table who came in after us. Seeing her ask "do you need anything" or "everything okay" to 4 OTHER TABLES but never approaching ours is INSULTING at best. I'm not sure if it was because we had no men or maybe she doesn't like children but I am and was flabbergasted. We were also overcharged but I wasn't in the mood for arguing. If you're looking for a no frills breakfast spot this is it. Nothing fancy and nothing crazy but just some basic breakfast food. Service was good and they got busy during brunch time on a weekday but still attended to us in a timely manner. The fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious- so much better than regular OJ. We ordered the stuffed French toast with strawberry cream cheese and a burger. Both were pretty basic, nothing extra or special but exactly what was advertised. This was a great stop for a late breakfast. We were seated immediately and our server was polite and attentive. In fact, other staff members periodically checked on our status. Heard really good things about Famous Toastery from my colleagues and it was located really close to our office and my hotel. Decided to do lunch over breakfast food at lunch time, and ordered the left coast BLT which had an addition of brie cheese and pesto mayo. As a side I decided on the pesto pasta per our waiter's suggestion. Service was really good and the sandwich was okay, the pesto pasta salad was not really to my liking. I think I would've preferred fries but they don't have that option. Overall, it wasn't bad but I think their breakfast might be the better entree to order here. read more

The food was good enough, but the overall condition of this particular location was a little bit of a downer. It looks like it needs a good clean and sprucing up. My meal was good enough to make me want to try Famous Toastery again, at a different location of course. And the service was just okay. There were two gals waiting on the tables (we were early enough that there were only three other tables in use when we arrived), but neither of the gals seemed in much of a hurry to seat us, making sure to finish their conversation before greeting us. This particular location had an uncomfortable aura of neglect, making it a little depressing. So I would not recommend it. I am still curious about Famous Toastery overall, and I hope I get the chance to try another in the future. read more

This place always has a somewhat long wait, it is so popular. But it is worth the wait! The food is excellent and serves very well for breakfast or lunch. My wife usually gets one of their marvelous hamburgers, while I usually order some breakfast, most often featuring perfectly cooked eggs, sausage, toast or biscuit, fruit, etc. Great service, sometimes a good bit of good noise -- a lot of diners have a satisfying meal and a good time talking and laughing with each other! They open early and close at 2 p.m. so allow extra time for waiting for a table to become open. read more

We ended up going to the location at Concord Mills and it was like night and day. We were immediately greeted; server came over within a minute of us being seated, everyone was friendly, and the food was great. Meh. I was excited by the location and the menu but the experience was just middle of the road. I had some toast...not sure what would make it famous. Mimosas were disgusting. They were room temp and whatever they used for mix separated and we had to stir before sipping. Didn't help. My omelette was alright, I guess, but the grits were a disgrace to the South. I would've enjoyed the view of the waterway if I could see through the dirty windows. The pictures look great though, right! The location has several little things to do near after like, ice cream, smoothies, light shopping, and even paddle boating. They also have an outdoor patio for sitting, we were seated somewhat quickly once in the restaurant. Our food came out in a decent time even with them having a full house. The food overall was mediocre. I got an omelette but it was dry. I enjoyed my mimosa. One of our waiters seemed to not want to accommodate us and be bothered by our request. My lady and I visited Famous Toastery while visiting her best friend in Charlotte. I didn't love my experience but I most certainly didn't hate it either. Pros: Good food, pretty speedy service(once you're actually seated), beautiful scenery to take in while waiting. Cons: We were a party of four, but the restaurant doesn't seem to have any big tables. We were completely jammed, in a corner seat with little to no space to move, nor was there enough space on our table for our meals and drinks. 2.) the grits portion of my shrimp and grits were extremely watery. My meal was good, but the famous hash was nothing to brag about, however my GF thoroughly enjoyed her omelette. 3.) the restaurants "Everyone is your server" concept is awesome in theory, but it led to confusion when we needed something. All in all it wasn't a bad experience, however, I'd like to visit Famous Toastery again on a day when we're not in the middle of Sunday brunch to see if the experience is better. read more

Had to wait about 20 minutes, but that was to be expected. The food was great and reasonably-priced.

I met up with Yelp friends old and new here so that we could collectively earn the Breakfast Club badge and we had a great time. Breakfast was excellent and their policy of "everyone is your server" was helpful. There's always a waiter or waitress nearby to refill drinks and clear dirty plates. They need a way better method for splitting checks. While it was great that they did split our seven breakfasts into six separate checks, it took a little trial and error to get it worked out straight. I chose the stuffed French toast. A substantial portion (four halves of two slices each) well loaded with smooth peanut butter and sliced bananas. Not too sweet but definitely the lead up to my carb crash nap once I got home. The waitress who brought our food wasn't the same one who prepared it in the kitchen so my "no powdered sugar" was missed. Though it did make for a lovely presentation and I knocked it off onto the side plate. Nice sized restaurant with plenty of space. Outside tables have a good view of the small pond with fountain and paddleboating. Someone brought their dog for the full al fresco experience! read more

However, I thought our servers handled our orders well (nothing was wrong or sent back), and the food was on point. My order of lightly scrambled eggs were as requested, and the hashbrowns were piled high, too.
