Famous Toastery Bowl
Talesha C.

We came here on a Monday morning before work. There was one other party aside from ours. There were a couple of people that came in for to-go orders though. They do validate parking here so make sure you do that before you're seated at the restaurant. I had the famous toastery bowl with French toast. It was really good. I loved the pork sausage and the Hollandaise sauce. The breakfast potatoes and eggs were also tasty. Because of the sauce I didn't feel as if I needed to add any salt or pepper. The French toast was very tasty as well. The waiter was attentive and prompt. I'd definitely come here again next time I'm in Winston-Salem.

Great breakfast for a Wednesday morning. Staff are super nice and had solid recommendations. We got the Huevos Rancheros and French Toast and both were very good! This is my second time at this location and I'll always come back. The space has a great vibe and the art makes for a feast for the eyes.

The Famous Toastery is a place I tried years ago and just haven't had the opportunity to come back but today was the day. It has a very artsy vibe inside and has a large patio area if you would like to sit outside. There is tons of neat artwork all in the inside which provides a really good touch to the place. The service was good they are very prompt with everything and very accommodating if you want to make any substitutions to your meal. I went with a mimosa with strawberry and mango which was pretty good! A western omelet which was ok I'm not a big fan of craft square slices as the choice of cheese in my omelet so that threw me off a tad but other than that it was I couldn't complain. Finished everything off with a bowl of fruit. Will definitely be back since I have moved back to this area but I'll try something different next go round!

Really enjoyed this place! Seating was plentiful and comfortable. parking was super easy with the 3 hours of validated parking. I didn't try the fresh-squeezed OJ but almost everyone around us had it and it looked so good. I got the huevos rancheros. The chorizo on it was super flavorful but not too spicy. I loved the tortilla strips instead of chips. Great flavor and texture overall. Each plate was the perfect portion, not too much and not too little. Service was quick, and I like that you just pay at the front when you're done. Definitely a spot we'd come back to!

Great place to come with friends and have late breakfast with mimosas!! Service was great everyone was friendly and food service came pretty quick for the amount of people we came with (10 guests). The potatoes were good but i loved the pesto salad and the sandwiches. Mimosas were the best. I was able to try every flavor and the cranberry was my favorite. Cant wait to come try out their other drinks.

This is a great brunch place to sit and chat with friends and enjoy a drink or come for a lunch gathering. The only reason I am giving this 4/5 is that the service is always a bit off. I can't really think of a time that I've gone to Famous Toastery where I felt like the staff was happy to have new guests or really even happy to be at work. They just sort of go through the motions but there's no welcoming vibe. The food however is almost always AMAZING! This past time I got the Brie & Turkey Sandwich and it was super good! I'll for sure be ordering that again. The drinks (cocktails and specialty drinks like coffee) are pretty good as well! A great way to improve any dining experience here. Sit outside or inside - the service will be the same either way and you usually get your pick of inside or outside, even if there's a wait. NOTE: take a picture of your license plate to fill out the parking validation to avoid the crazy tickets from the city. There's a QR code on a paper inside the door. DO NOT FORGET!!!

We visited on the Sat before Mother's Day, so some of the things we ordered were special menu items. Everything was delicious and our server ... Cai was fabulous! My mom told her she was diabetic and Cai thought of everything. She made sure there was Splenda for her coffee, and brought sugar free syrup. The place was packed and the only issue I had was that the front door stayed open more than it stayed closed. It was pretty chilly and we were cold the entire meal. BUT, after a few mimosas from my flight, I was fine . Highly recommend if you are looking for a good breakfast!!

The Daybreak Burrito in all its glory - egg whites, avocado, Brie and tomato (clearly missing here). Still delish.

Happy to have found this welcoming spot for a quick and laidback lunch (or breakfast). I guess it's a chain but whatever...the food came out fresh and hearty and our server was super friendly. My Daybreak Burrito - although kinda bland - really hit the spot (also, I did not come across even one tomato inside) and the casual vibe was a good fit - outdoor patio if you want, as well. Good portions, reasonable prices and a cool neighborhood for this location, too. If you need no frills but fresh no-nonsense grub, this seems like a good choice. Bloody Mary's and Mimosas served as well, so day drinkers can get their groove on.

Cali Benedict on sourdough with cholula on top

I DoorDashed this and picked it up. This meal was absolutely delicious. I asked for a soft poach and the yolk was perfectly runny. Their house made Benedict sauce was very delicious! It appears to me like a total of half an avocado was used for the two eggs...they didn't skimp! I love cholula so I added that & truly found this to be so delicious. The ambiance looked nice and relaxing when I went at 10am on a Sunday, but I'm sure it can pick up later in the morning. Food-wise, I will definitely be back.

French Toast combo, Southwestern omelette and Huevos Rancheros

2.5 - 3 stars. We were a party of 5 and there was a 30 minute wait. The place was busy however the food was sub-par, especially for 5 people, for breakfast it was over $110. We ordered lattes. When they arrived, the waitress accidentally spilled one of our cups on the table, she stated she was going to bring us another cup but never did. The lattes were super small & luke warm. For the main meal, I ordered the french toast combo with eggs & potatoes. I also ordered a side of bacon for $4. My husband got the Huevos rancheros where the chorizo & his toast was also extra. We had to ask multiple times for water & my side of bacon. My meal was also cold & I wasn't a fan of the flavor of the french toast but we were so hungry we let it go and ate our food. The rest of my family ordered an egg burrito, the southwestern omelette & quesadillas. Everyone left indifferent for the food. Nothing special.

My friend ordered the breakfast burrito, it was huge! For a side she had the sweet potato tots. She let me steal a bite of both and yum! I opted for the Hot Honey Chicken with Pimento Benedict and wow! I was nervous the pimento cheese would be overpowering, but it wasn't at all! It was a nice, creamy complement to the spicy crispy chicken. The hollandaise cut through some of the richness for a pleasant mellower. Prices are reasonable and our waitress was great! The restaurant is larger than it looks but it does get quite crowded. Can't wait to come back here!

This is a solid restaurant with much to offer in the brunch/breakfast area - an area that has become popular and chic, and it almost always means much will be expensive, usual very expensive considering the less than costly menu ingredients that drive food choices here, and other such brunch spots. Brunch is seen as more than just a meal for some folks who are all into what is trendy, and restaurant are aware of this and prices are raised due to the "experience" element! I have tried several items here including their version of Huevos Rancheros (not a fan of how they make it, pulled pork is a party foul), the Eggs Benedict (decent but over priced for sure, $17 with bacon added), and several Omelette choices, can reach $15. This is obviously a popular spot in downtown Winston, but I find it generally overpriced, loud, and the service is inconsistent. I like a good adventure, but somethings simply are not worth the cost! Note that the prices for individual items are written, very lightly with no $ sign to the right of the item. This is done intentionally to make the customer pay less attention to what they spending. Many restaurants are using some form of this approach!

The server on this visit was the 5+ stars part of this whole visit, amazingly helpful and positive! The Deets: I got the opportunity to try out Eggies off of Robinhood Road in Winston-Salem as it was the choice of some of my friends to catch a quick Saturday breakfast. Located within The Village of Robinhood shopping area, it was easy to access with plenty of parking within the shopping center. The restaurant is small but quaint, as we entered we got to snag the last open table at that time fairly quickly. Their menu is full of breakfast/brunchy/sandwich/burgers like offerings with plenty of offerings. I went to the "Build Your Own Combos" section of the menu, I'm all about choices. Here, you can choose 2 meats, 1 breakfast side, one bread/carb with eggs any style for $11.50 at the time of this writing. I went with 2 pieces of grilled pork tenderloin, sausage gravy side paired with one of their biscuits (planning on biscuit & gravy, yum!) with some scrambled eggs. Breakfast came out within an acceptable wait for a full house, no longer than anticipated wait. My selections looked great, with the portions being adequate but not overgenerous. Of note, the biscuit was big, fluffy, and exactly what you would expect from a Southern style biscuit. The biscuit combined with their sausage gravy was enjoyable with the scrambled eggs and tenderloin (I am glad I ordered two of them instead of two separate meat selections). With their satisfying coffee, I enjoyed this breakfast stop before the start of a busy day. I come to the best part of my visit to Eggies, the service. Our server was excellent...pleasant, helpful, refills right at the time needed, and so attentive with positivity. I wish I could give 5+ stars for her service, definitely made this visit enjoyable. I really wish Yelp had half stars in many situations and this time is one of them. With 4 stars for food/menu/atmosphere and 5+ stars on service, I really feel that this visit to Eggies was a solid 4.5 star experience.

I didn't expect the restaurant to be busy on a weeknight, but I was obviously wrong as the parking lot was nearly full. We found a spot at the rear of the restaurant and made our way inside. We were promptly greeted and shown to our table near the fireplace. A quick glance around confirmed that the place was jumping, which is good news for any restaurant during the middle of the week. A good balance of menu options from salads, sandwiches, fish, steaks, etc. Expect to pay $20-30 per person and some entrees are ala carte. They appear to have a good selection of wine, beers and cocktails from the long list in the menu. I went with the lasagna; my wife had the fish and chips; and my colleague went with the Beast Burger. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their selection. The temperature of my lasagna could have been a tad hotter, but it wasn't enough of an issue to send it back. I would order it again. Service was good throughout our visit, but I am deducting one star for the noise level. The high ceilings give the restaurant a beautiful lodge look and feel, but they make for a very loud dining experience. The sound level at times was more like a school cafeteria in my opinion. Perhaps a table on the side of the dining room would be quieter where nearby walls could help absorb some of the noise. Bottom line: not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner.
