This neighborhood old school diner has been around forever it seems, thru ups and downs, changes in management (current owners took over in 2017), shifts in population in the area, changes in tastes. I first ate here in late 1992 or 1993, but had not visited this spot in years. This place remains pretty much unchanged, just more worn, more dated inside and out. The panel walls are decorated with pictures, sayings, a variety of bric-a- brac. Due to the acoustics this is a conversation laden environment, voices carrying a good distance, some more irritating than others. The restaurant was half filled, mostly seasoned citizens, solo and in pairs. Once seated, my waitress said - What can I get you to drink, Hun? I knew then I was in a small bit of the Southern part of restaurant heaven. I ordered the Fried Pork Chops (you get 2) with sides of Pintos ( topped with chopped, white onion, of course) and Fried Squash. My meal was soon on the table, nicely plated and very well sized. The pork chops were very large, biggest I've seen except for those at the Snappy Lunch in Mt Airy. The were just as I like them, thin, moist, bone-in, and fork tender. I especially enjoyed the very flavorful meat closest to the bone - gnawing on the bone is not only allowed but encouraged here! The Fried Squash, though not fresh, was loaded with flavor and very tender. The pintos were equally tasty, though a bit soupy, thickened some by the abundant onion. This was a typical Southern diner lunch, nothing exotic or particularly healthy, but exactly what I was looking for today. Will be back to try some more of the menu, typically Southern fare dotted with a few Greek choices (former owner was Greek), some pasta dishes, and a varied and attractive selection of burgers and sandwiches - the Texas Burger (8 oz patty on Texas Toast, dressed as you choose) is tempting. The owners are slated to open a second location in Lexington on NC Hwy 8, just off US 40, later this year, in a spot that previously housed Speedy Lohr's BBQ, among others. read more

Had never been here before but my buddy wanted to grab lunch and he suggested we go. Located on a main road it does not look very appealing from the outside. Nothing fancy, tight parking spots but sufficient. It looks small but once you head inside it is actually a decent size with plenty of tables and booths. We decided to sit at the counter which faces the kitchen. The menu reads like a diner. They have breakfast all day and great lunch and dinner dishes available. I went with a chorizo n and peppers omelette with a side of sausage gravy & bacon as an add on. 1st off, the waitresses are very friendly and we're on top of everything. Order was taken quickly and it was prepared just as fast and yet fresh. The omelette was loaded with chopped chorizo and peppers. The sausage gravy had bits of sausage and was a perfect topping for my eggs. The bacon was crispy but not overly done. Everything was perfect. I also watched as other orders were prepared and placed on the kitchen counter for the waitress's to pick up. They all look very hearty and worth a try. Prices are reasonable so I will definitely come back to try other dishes. I am happy my buddy put me on to this place. BTW..... Just ate breakfast at this place and it was awful. There were only 11 customers in the restaurant the food was ice cold. My husband's order was wrong so they made it again and it was still wrong. First time ever here. Been meaning to try this place for years, but never got around to it. Was craving red meat at 7 am, yet still wanted breakfast. Looked around, remembered Omega House, found their new menu on Facebook, made up my mind. Ordered the 8 oz. hamburger steak, two eggs, and a side. Burger was cooked well done, as requested, added onions. Picked homefries as my side, aka, chunky hashbrowns. Added onions to those, also. Think there was an extra charge of .60 cents for the onions, but that's fine with me. Eggs scrambled, biscuit. All was very good and filling. Coffee was average, drank three mugs. Could have probably finished it all but took some burger, potatoes, and the biscuit home for later. Didn't try the biscuit yet, hope it's good. Service was good. Decor was nice. Hours can be limited on certain days, be sure to check. The parking lot was almost full when I got there Monday morning around 10 am. Will return another day, mainly because they have corned beef hash and beef bologna on their breakfast menu! Love those not often found options. Classic local Greek/American/Southern dive you find all around the Triad. Very similar to Lighthouse or Jimmy the Greek (the one in Advance). This place is right on Peters Creek Parkway, the section of Peters Creek that has seen better days. Breakfast served all day, blue plate specials, burgers and sandwiches, plus a few Greek items. Our waitress was great. She took very good care of us. The burgers were decent. I got the daily special, pork smothered in gravy. Not too bad. The sides (okra and greens) were not great but good. The cornbread served was a little odd. The texture was more like a pound cake. Almost like it was 75% flour and 25% cornmeal. Not a highlight in my book. So just like any dive, some menu items are going to be hits and others misses. Lots of dishes just okay. The prices are right on. I got to give Omega House an extra star for the portion sizes. first off my waitress was amazing and that was probably the best part about my experience. when I got my food my burger was still raw on the inside and the tea was sour tasting. my dads salad had a hair in it and his bacon tasted like it was double cooked because it was over done. my waitress china was amazing, has a wonderful smile and was very fast and attentive to me and my dad. she knew I was having a bad day and she made me feel at home. my first time here and I'll probably only go back to talk to her. lol. Breakfast is outstanding at the Omega house. Although the menu is extensive I always order from the breakfast menu. I've eaten breakfast in many places in Winston Salem but Omega is the best. The portions are substantial and the food is cooked to perfection. I've ordered most everything on the breakfast menu (but not all at once) and it's all done very well. I like my home fries extra crispy. Omega is the only place in town that honors that request. The service is exceptional. The staff and management understand that good food and good service = repeat business. I haven't tried the non-breakfast menu items but others at my table have and are always pleased. This used to be my favorite breakfast place. I came religiously every weekend and then started coming here 3-4 times a week as well. About a month ago I was in with a friend of mine from work. I ordered the sausage link combo with eggs and hash browns with some additions on top. My plate came out and I did not have the additions on top of my hash-browns and nicely informed the waitress. She immediately took it back. When my plate came back out with the correct additions on my hash browns I noticed I was missing a sausage. Normally I get 3 but the plate came back with only two. I funnily asked the waitress what happened to my other sausage and she said "it fell on the floor we are getting you a new one." I said okay no problem. My "new" sausage came out seconds later, steaming hot. About an hour after breakfast I had food poisoning. I was worried they had put the sausage they dropped on the ground back on the grill and threw it back on a plate for me. In my head I was like "there is no way they would do that, I've been here a hundred times" that was until today. A gentleman sitting behind me ordered a glass of water. When his water came out to him he noticed it was carbonated and said "this is not water" the waitress said I'll get you a new one. She confronted the original Hispanic waitress (that brought the "water" over) in the corner, trying to be quiet and the Hispanic waitress said "I don't know what happened. I just grabbed a cup that was half full and put water in it. The other waitress (short and big) said "you grabbed a cup that was half full and poured water in it and gave it to him?" The Hispanic waitress said yes. They then proceeded to laugh very loudly as if it was the funniest thing in the world. Now I have no doubt in my mind that they dropped my sausage on the ground, threw it back on the grill and served it to me. I have been coming here for 3 years and have never seen such neglectful behavior. That is how you transmit diseases, that is how you put people in the hospital. I cannot believe what we heard and saw today. I have been in the food industry for years and was an AM then promoted to a GM shortly after and this would have never happened. Someone would have been fired on the spot. I hate it for the owners and the GM because they are so kind and good to their customers but you need to get a hold of your employees out here making people sick. Me and my coworkers (7+ people) will never come back here again. You have lost a very loyal customer. Shame on the waitresses that behaved like that and make a family run business look disgusting! read more

Seriously, if I could give Omega House a negative star, I would. Our waiter was slow and incompetent. He seemed confused (hungover, possibly?) when we were ordering on a Sunday morning and all 4 of us had to repeat our orders to him multiple times. The restaurant wasn't busy, so there should've been no issue with service. Both our table and the table next to us had to get up and get our own silverware so we could eat the food he'd delivered while still hot, because he didn't provide it to us beforehand or with the food. I guess he just thought we'd use our hands. WORST OF ALL, I FOUND A FINGERNAIL IN MY OMELET! When I bit into something extremely hard and took it out of my mouth and saw what it was, I was horrified. I showed it to my husband and asked what he thought it looked like and he confirmed my suspicions. We showed it to the waiter who brought it back to the cook. When he came back, he said, "The cook says it's just a hard piece of onion." Ummm, I think not. I used to bite my nails, so I know what that sensation feels like and never in my life have I seen a piece of onion that's that hard. Needless to say, I ended my meal. More than that, a MANAGER NEVER CAME OVER TO SPEAK TO US and they STILL CHARGED US FOR THE OMELET! Unbelievable. We'll never go back, nor will our friends. read more

Omega House has had a complete interior/exterior makeover and it looks GREAT! The filthy old carpeting, psychotic decor and disgusting restrooms have all been tastefully replaced. To me, this was the problem with this diner. It certainly wasn't the food. The new owners wisely separated the baby from the bathwater here by retaining the existing menu (without jacking the prices) while tossing those hideous blue & yellow booths. I was informed they intend to keep the menu while adding to it. This looks to be the best incarnation of Omega House in its 25-year history. read more

Had a horrible experience for breakfast. The booths are worn out, you'll sink in and springs hit your butt. The dining room is dirty and falling apart. The biscuit was dry and stale. The pancakes were tough and chewy. The service was very slow and my coffee cup sat empty throughout my breakfast. Waste of money. read more

This place is definitely my go to spot for a good southern breakfast. But here lately since they are under new management the breakfast that I would have given 10 is now becoming a 3. Seems as though the cook is rushing with food my omelette has been half done and bacon is very soft nothing like a good crunch of bacon. The toast is soft as well, not to mention there has been times when I dine in the waitress are rude to the cook. We stopped at Omega's for dinner because their parkling lot was full. With all those cars, it has to be good, right? We were surprised to walk inside and see so many open tables. The decor is puzzling---car photos sprinkled amid an odd collection of landscape artwork. It's crazy enough to be campy. One of us ordered Vickie's Veggie Pita Wrap--unfortunately it wasn't me. It looked DELICIOUS and it was raved about. I will definitely try it next time. I ordered the hot turkey open-faced sandwich. What came was two pieces of stacked Wonder-like bread and two pieces of thinly sliced deli-type turkey, smothered in gravy with instant potatoes on the side. For the price of $6.95, I am thinking they are making a tidy profit. Another person at our table ordered the hot roast beef sandwich--same as the first--two pieces of white white bread, two pieces of thinly sliced deli-type roast beef and instant potatoes. Not exactly what I was expecting...not what I would come back for ....for any means. It kind of reminded me of what you might cook for yourself if you were a starving student. The upside was that the service was lightning fast and attentive. The owner apparently knows most of the obvious-repeat customers. I would definitely give Omega's a second shot. I went to the Omega House for lunch today with a co-worker. We sat down and the waitress brought us our drinks. 15 minutes later we paid for our drinks and left. The waitress never returned to the table. We informed the woman working the register and she didn't seem to care at all. Her only response was "have a nice day". I have been going to eh Omega House for a very long time and I was shocked to say the least. I have NEVER received the kind of service-or lack of service. So-to the waitress wearing the purple shirt and purple ball cap-you most likely lost out on a nice tip today. My friend and I generally tip very well. read more

Omega House is Busy... Disabilities Don't Matter On July 4th my dad and I went to the Omega House Restaurant in Winston Salem on Peters Creek Parkway. My father entered the restaurant proudly wearing his Vietnam Veteran baseball cap guiding himself with his cane. My father is blind. The restaurant was busy but, all the tables were not full. Omega has an additional dinning space to the right of the front door that had only a few patrons filling a couple of the many tables in the room. A friendly waitress asked us where we would like to sit. We said a booth would be nice but, we would take a table. She looked around the room and said she would get us into the less populated dining room. She told the owner of the restaurant that she was going to seat us there. The owner said, no, seat them in the back. We had to walk to the other side of the restaurant through an obstacle course around poles, chairs and an empty baby seat in the aisles that had fallen over in the floor. My biggest regret was that we went through the maze and had breakfast. Our waitress apologized profusely. Dad and I went to the register to pay the bill. The owner came to take our money. We told her that we had been coming to this establishment for seven years and we would not be back because of her. She asked why and we told her! We told her we requested to be in an area of the restaurant that was more accessible for my father. I wonder what would happen if an individual in a wheel chair or walker entered the restaurant. The aisles are so narrow there is no way they could fit. The only accessible part of the restaurant was the ramp built by the previous owners I told her that I knew she remembered us from eating breakfast in her restaurant almost every day that week. It had been our routine since my mother's stay at the hospital. She responded by saying she wasn't honestly thinking. "We are just so busy right now." Then she asked for our money. I promised her that I would tell anyone that would listen. My dad and I not only wanted to advocate for him but for any individual that may enter Omega House with a disability. So, in conclusion, if Omega is Busy, individuals with disabilities don't matter! Sorry just wasn't enough. read more

I really looked forward to an Omega House visit, I really did. But after a 1 1/2 hour long wait for their sirloin steak, chicken tenders, and salad (my family was with me) it became obvious that the waitress had no idea what she was doing. I really, truly wish that I could give Omega six stars. But, sadly, because of that waitress, I have to give three stars. However, don't let this be a deterrent to anybody, because the actual food was amazing. read more
