In the mid downtown area lies the famous toastery. Coming here it's just one super big building, with indoor/outdoor seating. You can even mistaken them for having a rooftop. That's where we wanted to be but APPARENTLY that doesn't belong to them. However, the indoor and outdoor feel to this place is not too bad. I mean, the interior decor is just gorgeous. It would be beautiful during the night time with all those lights but they only open for lunch. Anyways, we came right around when they opened and the sun was beaming. The most evil light of all. We came with about 8-10 people and no matter where we sat the sun kept touching some of us. It was a major buzz kill. We were contemplating on leaving so bad but the food looked sooo good online so we had to stay. After all, it wasn't under their control. However, they should invest in blinds... I visited here on 11/5/21 around 12:10pm to have lunch with co workers as it was my last day at my job. It was 7/8 of us. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. If it wasn't cold, we would've sat outdoors because indoors was very small. Luckily, inside was very warm but it was borderline hot. Before sitting, you have to enter your license plate to validate parking. I would take a picture of your license plate if you don't know it. The waitress came at 12:22pm to take drink order and returned at 12:27pm with drinks. Everyone finished ordering 12:32pm. I got the stuffed French toast with strawberries and cream. It was pretty delicious. The wait was long to get our food food. However, it seemed as if they were short staffed. When we were done eating, we waited well over 30 minutes to get our checks. On top of that, they brought out one check... It was very confusing. We were told they had a new payment system and didn't know how to completed work it. When they split it, several checks were out of order. Overall, horrible experience while trying to pay. One upside is the option to pay online. You can pay regularly if need be though. I'm not sure if I would return or not to this location. I've been to other locations in VA and NC with better experiences. Food good, service by Sha'ara was great, she was busy running, she handled checking in, taking orders, cashiering, all in my visit. She kept a smile and pleasant attitude. Outdoor seating is open, a c. Inside was better. I paid for parking first... validate inside without paying first...a lesson I learned. Have been to Famous Toastery in the past at other locations so had high expectations for our brunch at the Winston Salem location. The overall experience was quite disappointing and I don't plan to go back now as a result. Parking is a little tricky but if you are a customer you will get a ticket to put in your dash so you don't get ticket. Upon entering we noticed the restaurant itself looked quite large but we were limited to seating in the front only for some reason, not sure why the rest of the restaurant was blocked off. The section we sat in felt like I was in a basement. Very cold, lights flickering and the ceiling fan made a continual ticking noise enough to drive me mad. Once we had a chance to look over the menu I saw several entrees that caught my attention as well as a few appetizers I wanted to sample beforehand since I was starving! But come to find out 2 out of the 3 things I wanted to order were unavailable because they ran out....the day was just getting started so I don't see how they were out of these items unless they already experienced a shortage from the previous day. Anyways, decided to order the West Coast BLT which is like a regular BLT but with avocado and pesto. I made them aware ahead of time that I had a tree nut allergy and asked if there were any ingredients I need to avoid to be on the safe side. They were unsure if the bread had nuts in it since it was whole grain and suggested I choose the gluten free option instead. I was confused why they couldn't just look at the bag the bread came in and read off the ingredients because gluten free bread was definitely not my first choice. They couldn't verify and by now I am so hungry and will just settle for anything. I had to avoid the pesto too unfortunately so I couldn't enjoy that on my sandwich either or the pasta salad due to tree nuts being used. When the BLT did come it looked pretty sad, not worth $14 in my opinion. We also noticed we were missing silverware and asked our waiter to accommodate. We were given plastic silverware wrapped in a napkin. Ok, never have I had plastic silverware at a sit down restaurant, only when dining at a fast food place or when ordering take out. Overall I think the only think I enjoyed was my $5 glass of orange juice. The bathrooms needed attention as well, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. I basically paid $30 to have an indoor picnic and use a restroom equivalent to a porta john. read more

I rather have different juices in mine. So we ordered Mango, Wild berry passionfruit, cranberry, & peach! I loved all 4 flavors! Next our food order. Anyone who knows me & have eaten out with me, there's usually a spread of food on the table after I'm done ordering. I contained myself a little this time. We both ordered the Famous Hash, my friend ordered the strawberry & cream stuffed French toast, I ordered the classic waffle. So we both ordered two items. No biggie right? Lol. The food came out fast! We honestly didn't wait too long once we put in our order and it came out exactly how we wanted it. The food was hot & tasted great! If you're looking for great mimosas & delicious food stop by & check them out! Great place for breakfast!!! Excellent dishes and service in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Our last visit , this week, we had eleven three generations of family members and pretty much covered the menu. We have traveled all over the place and have seen Famous Toastery and always wanted to try it. We didn't mind waiting 30 minutes for the table and we seated when they said we would be. The waiter came over and said he would bring us waters while we looked at the menu and never came back. 15 minutes later we just left. The restaurant has a front and back parking lot as well. They serve cornbread and apple butter only on the weekends though, wish I could've tried it I went on a Friday! Food was good! My sister got a side of the pumpkin spice pancakes (which you can get one or more). The pancake was AMAZING I wish I got that instead of the cinnamon raisin French toast. Since it's a smaller restaurant, every time the entrance opens it gets super cold during the winter so make sure you bring a jacket inside! First of all, the service was immaculate! Upon arrival, we only had to wait 15 minutes before we were seated on a Saturday morning - I was shocked, expecting a much longer wait. They do have outdoor and indoor seating options. It was a beautiful day, so we went with outside. The view is great! The Winston-Salem skyline is easily seen from the patio seating. Parking is validated by taking a photo of the QR code right at the front door (amazing for a busy Saturday morning). The parking lot is a shared lot, but there was no trouble finding parking. The food is always good from here, I typically go to the Famous Toastery in Charlotte, but since I was here decided to check out this location. The vibe is really cool here, the staff is really friendly, and the service is quick and accurate. I didn't know this was an option, I did see there was a dog on the outdoor patio section where I sat (which, in my opinion, it's always good to know what places are dog friendly). First time eating here since we thought we would try something new...was NOT impressed with the food or the service. Our server never came back to check on us after she took our order. The girl who seated us brought our food and refilled our coffee and that was it. We had to go up to the hostess stand to get our check and pay. I had the Country Benedict and it did not disappoint. The sausage gravy was to die for. It was salty but that was to be expected when you get country ham. The potatoes were good but they seemed a little stale and not that fresh, like they were warmed up. My partner had Huevos Racheros and it was delicious too. I love black beans. I arrived at the restaurant at 1130 with a fairly large group from work. Our waitress was very polite and helpful throughout our entire visit. It took a while before our food started coming out, understandably so because of how large the group was. Everything looked and smelled amazing, I got to try a little bit of their breakfast potatoes while I waited for my order and they were amazing. After about an hour and half I looked around and realized I was the only one without food yet. The waitress asked me what I had and apologized saying they think it was brought to the wrong table but they were starting it again. After that it was only about 5 minutes until my food arrived. I had ordered the blackened chicken caesar wrap with a side of chips because French fries were not on the menu. I was kind of disappointed because I assumed the chips would be home made but they were just from a store bought bag of chips. The wrap was just alright, definitely needed more caesar dressing on it and seemed like the majority of the chicken was in one side of the wrap. The other half seemed like it was mostly lettuce. They did end up apologizing again and comping my order since I had to wait for a while. We wanted to move to a different seating area but it just didn't work out because there wasn't enough room to accommodate us in one setting. I ordered the biscuits and gravy breakfast with a side of bacon and a sweet tea. The portions for the meal was pretty big, I thought it had a lot of flavor and the gravy was ahhhhhmazing. The texture of the biscuit was also good to eat. I really enjoyed my sweet tea as well. This meal was about $12. There are a variety of breakfast selections as well as lunch selections too. You can choose from a lobsters Benedict to a sandwich or even have an omelet. They also let you choose to make your own omelet. We just finished breakfast at the Winston-Salem location where we were greeted by friendly personable staff, great service and delicious food. I had the avocado omelette and it was amazing! But wait! You have to order the strawberry cream cheese stuffed French toasts. They are to die for! The staff is doing a great job on respecting social distance between the clients and tables. We have been to this place three times on our Saturday breakfast outings and not willing to stay for the one hour wait. Decided to try it on a Friday morning. I am so glad I never waited one hour for this place. Not sure what it is about W-S not having many decent breakfast places. How did it go? Within five minutes of sitting down, my wife realized she had torn a pair of $100+ pants on the seat due to an exposed nail head. Told the waitress, her response, sorry about that. Next up, food took a while, no problem, understand that in todays times. But when it shows up at the same time as a table beside us that came in 15 min after us.... Oh well lets check with the food.
