Extremely unprofessional. Do not go here. I saw the great reviews on yelp and decided to go here to get my indian dress altered. I bought a royal blue beautiful dress from India but it was too big so I brought it to Fancy Stop to get it altered on the sides. The drop off was smooth, I got a receipt and the woman said my dress would be ready in two weeks. She also told me to call before I came to pick it up. Here I am, two weeks later. I called the store and someone picked up and upon asking if my dress was done, she said, "I think, I don't know. Let me check with the girl that was supposed to do it and call you back." And then she hung up on me. She didn't ask for my name or my phone number so I don't know how she intended to call me back. This was the beginning of the unprofessionalism. I decided to just go to the store and see if hopefully my dress was done. A man brought out my dress in a plastic bag and said he thought it was done but then started to make some phone calls to double check. This was now the 2nd person who worked here and didn't know if my dress was done. Sounds a little unorganized but hey, that's just my opinion. While he was making calls, I decided to try on my dress. The altering was okay. It was still a little loose in the back but not a big deal. As I turned around and looked in the mirror, I noticed something that wasn't there before - STAINS! This dress came from India and was never worn. I brought it straight to Fancy stop but now it looks like someone spilled something on it. I've attached pictures and while the discoloration is mild, it's still there. Fancy stop has ruined my new, never worn Indian dress and refused to take accountability for their actions. So note to anyone reading this or thinking about going here - think twice. Is it worth the potential risk of stains? If you do decide to use them, make sure you take pictures of your clothes before dropping them off. Even then they may not believe you or take responsibility. read more

My girlfriend and I went to the Fancy Stop not knowing anything about Indian clothing for an Indian wedding we would soon be attending. When we first arrived, we were the only customers in the store and we explained our situation that we needed lots of help and didn't even know where to begin. The woman working quickly pointed us to some racks in a general direction and disregarded us.... after searching through chaotic unorganized racks with no signage, we picked out some items.... We went to the woman working and while there were no other customers, she made it feel like it was an inconvenience to ask for help while she was clearly just browsing on her phone. When we tried items on, she assured my girlfriend that after alterations, everything would fit perfectly. After returning a few days later when the alterations were done, when I brought them back to my girlfriend, she tried on the top that had been 'altered' and the item was disfigured. It was uneven, and bunched up on one side. It couldn't fit, it was uncomfortable, and my girlfriend couldn't breathe in it! We went back to Fancy Shop to get another round of adjustment done, the woman working told us that's how it's "supposed to fit" and that it's supposed to be "uncomfortable" - I mean we're paying over $400 and the staff made us feel unwanted and our concerns weren't reasonable. DISCLAIMER - There are lots of items with NO price tags on them - and when we got to the register we found ourselves getting hit with a $412 bill!!! In addition, when we used their restrooms, there were empty toilet paper rolls on the floor, stacks of boxes, and no paper towels to dry our hands with! Lastly, in the dressing rooms, the floors were covered in hairballs and lint that would get stuck to your socks! I would rate this place 0 stars if we could. I regret going here. read more

I went in today with several of my own sarees, looking for suitable blouses. Sridevi waited on me and she was so patient, knowledgable and helpful, and draped the sarees with each of the blouses she had chosen for me. We took photos so I could send them to my future DIL for her opinion. I would say this place is very good because of the helpful and accommodating people who work there. If my future DIL approves, I'll be back in to get the blouses. OH, I almost forgot! They have a tailor to alter the pieces you buy. I was pretty impressed with their kindness and helpfulness. Had an amazing experience at this place. We went around 6:30pm an hour before closing and were treated really well. From what we could tell, the store owner was extremely helpful and involved when we were asking her what my friend should wear to another friend's four day wedding. She was helpful because she offered suggestions and showed and explained different styles. She explained what was classic and what was in. She let us try on some beautiful pieces and even offered some great discounts on pieces. We were really impressed and grateful for her help and her suggestions. To summarize, it was a terrible experience. 1. This was our first time at Fancy Stop. My fiancee and I went during the day and were greeted by a man who knew very little about the clothing. He said come back later when his wife returned. 2. We met Swapna on our second trip who helped us pick out four outfits for an upcoming wedding. These were nice (and not cheap) pieces as we were part of the wedding party. We negotiated a price which "included alterations" and moved on to payment. We paid by credit card but were not given an itemized receipt. I asked several times and she finally agreed to half legibly scribble the items on the back of the credit card transaction. She kept saying, "Just trust me." After we had already paid and were given the receipt, she tried to refuse to give us all the bags of items because she negotiated too low and wanted to charge us more money. We had to argue with her to allow us to leave with the items that we already paid for. Completely unprofessional. 3. She only agreed to alter one piece at a time which means she wanted us to come to the store at least four times to alter all four outfits. We did the first piece and it was very disappointing. She said "that is how everyone does it." We have had many alterations at other places before. We had a long argument with her and she refused to do a better job without charging us additional money. ("Oh, you want real alterations? You have to pay more for the nice kind and I have to send them out.") So we took the clothes elsewhere and we had to pay out of pocket an additional 35% on top of what we already paid Swapna. Our tailor agreed her alterations were unacceptable and had to undo everything she did. We have been going to the second tailor for a long time and trust them. 4. I would not go back to this store. I'll be driving past her store on the way to Artesia from now on. I have half a mind to complain to my credit card company that "included alterations" were actually never provided. read more

I was very disappointed in how I was treated in this shop. I am marrying into an Indian family and knew nothing about Indian clothing so this was my first foray to learn and try things. First off, the store is very chaotic with racks packed so full everywhere that it was difficult to look. It was very difficult to tell the sizes or to find anything. The lady was nice enough to measure me to know what size to look for and said most of her customers are new to Indian fashion. So I began the hunt through the racks. After just 5 minutes or so, she came over to me while my fiance was looking at another rack and told me the racks with the "big sizes" are over there and pointed me off to a rack in the corner. (I'm a US size medium) She was very short with any questions we had throughout. When we asked if she had leggings, etc to go with a particular top, she would say yes but not so much as point to where they might be. She refused to let me try a saree because I was "too new to carry it". I left the store feeling very discouraged. read more
