I had a very disappointing experience at this Janie and Jack location. When shopping with my daughter, a white, female, elderly associate with blonde hair (I am providing the general description of the employee so that the employer is able to figure out who she is and admonish her accordingly) continuously either followed us around the store or stared at us. Each time my daughter showed interest in an item and picked it up gently to look at it, the associate would loudly sigh and immediately rearrange it, as if my child had made a mess; she did not. My daughter was not throwing things around or being disruptive. She was simply checking out items like any curious shopper would. The whole interaction--constant hovering and judgmental attitude coupled with intentional sighs to ensure we heard them--certainly made us feel unwelcome. It completely took away from what should have been a pleasant mother and daughter shopping experience. read more

They are trying to give me hard times most of the time. I cannot believe the experience I had at the La Jolla UTC mall location of this store. I was trying to make a purchase of a Star Wars themed shirt and sweater. I had previously purchased a Star Wars pajama set for my baby several weeks ago. Back when I had made that previous purchase, I noticed that I did not receive the online website sale price. I called the store to inquire about that and was CLEARLY told by an employee at this store that one has to show/mention the online price at point of purchase in order to get the online advertised sale price. Noted. So when I made a purchase at this store today (11/2/24) at 4:25pm, I had the Janie and Jack website open on my phone browser to show the cashier the online sale price and stated that I wanted the sale price applied/matched. The manager overheard this and came over to where we were and did everything in her power to stop this. I explained to her that I was told by an employee that I can get the online price if I mentioned it at the store when purchasing. She shot me a dirty look and said "well we don't do that. Who did you talk to because if you called this store we would have never told you that. Who did you speak to?" I felt like I was being interrogated by this woman in front of my family and other customers near the register. I told her I did not know the name of the employee I spoke with over the phone. (Who would remember a random employee's name they spoke with over the phone weeks ago??). She then proceeds to tell me: "we never honor the online price at this location. I doubt you spoke with someone at this store because this current promotion just started three days ago and was not active when you called. Ha." The tone in which she said this was as though she was proud of herself and had 'caught me in a lie.' I was frozen in disgust and couldn't believe the manner in which this horrid woman was speaking to me and the things she was saying. WRONG again Stephanie (*ask me how I know your name). The Star Wars clothing sale has NOTHING to do with your current promotion and has been active for AT LEAST A MONTH as they are trying to move that merchandise. So much for your "HA" moment. This woman then tries again to stop me by saying that the two items I'm purchasing need to be available online in order to get the online price. Literally doing everything in her power to keep me from getting the advertised price that is listed on YOUR OWN STORE WEBSITE. I show her the items on the store website (from my phone) and prove to her that they are AVAILABLE. She lets out a huff and informs the cashier to give me the online sale price. Mind you, NOWHERE on the website does it say that these Star Wars items' sale pricing was online only. I had every right to get that price AT THE STORE without the interrogation from this woman trying to make me look like a lying criminal. She was the only low point of our family shopping experience at this mall today and the first awful experience at this store which we frequent. *FYI, Stephanie I learned of your name when I called this store weeks ago just as I had mentioned, by the employee I spoke with. -Janie and Jack, please hire better management. Multiple people stating the same thing about this particular manager is cause for concern. Make the proper personnel changes. read more

I tried hard to let go the attitude I have received every single time coming into this store! I was at this location 3 times in the last month, as I loved JJ clothes, but the sales associate are simply the rudest people I ever experienced shopping at JJ in the last 8 years, when I had my firt son and loved shopping at their store( except it was in Washington state) . As soon as you enter the store they have a high tone , constantly rushing you and rolling their eyes if you answer you are just doing ok. Also, few times already their prices are not matching in the computer.. when I came once to return an item because they did charge more, she answered, "Oh, it probably wasn't updated in our sistem"... whose job is it to do so?! Well Date Of First Visit Here : July 28 , 2019 and I was looking for a Kids Clothing Store besides Carters so I never heard of this store but since we received some baby clothes from a Friend of ours we had to exchange the clothes for bigger sizes so we Yelp and Google some stores and I wanted to see if there was one in San Diego and of course there was a Janie and Jack which is located inside the Westfield UTC Shopping Town Mall And we had to wait about 15 Minutes for the store to open because they open at 11:00am on Sunday so we got here early. Now right when the store opened we were the second customers inside as we walk in we were greeted with a hello and of course knowing me I went straight to the Clearance section to see what type of clothes they carry here . Now looking at the Clearance clothes here I notice they carry lots of button clothes and Shorts plus hats and Shoes , Socks and more of a dressy type of clothes for your kids . Plus the prices were a little high but as you will notice these are more of a Abercrombie & Finch Type Of Clothes For Baby's And Kids . It gives you that type of Feel when you walk in . But I should say service was ok and we found a Hat , Shirt , Sweater And socks for my kid which is not bad !! Overall Satisfaction is Good and if you happen to be in the area of La Jolla and happen to be in Westfield Shopping Town UTC I do Suggest you give this Clothing Store a look or if you are looking for cool clothes for your kids or newborns and also baby . This is specifically for the customer service (or lack thereof) in this store. All of the sales associates I've encountered all have a snotty, uptight vibe to them and it feels like they watch you like a hawk while you're in there. Silently judging you if you make your way towards the sales section. I'm a mom of 3 high energy children so I do a lot of my shopping online to avoid mall meltdowns or in-store destruction. I often buy multiple sizes which means I return whatever I don't end up needing. I've purchased from them about 3 or 4 times in the last year and every time, they've always said, "Next time, you can mail your return for free." I can mail my returns for free at Nordstrom, Freepeople and Anthropologie where I frequently shop but they never "remind" me. They simply thank me for my business and fulfill my return because it's a normal part of their job. If I want to return my purchase in store, why can't I? Oh, I'm sorry, did I intrude on your very busy EMPTY store. Pretty sure no one shops in store because of their rude, judgmental presence. It's ALWAYS EMPTY. And clearly, based on the number of negative reviews about the customer service at this store, this is not something new. I'm not backing off though. JJ is as good as it gets for kids clothing...so long as you like their style. I usually shop online since the prices are a bit cheaper, but every once in while I go in person to the UTC location. Always wait for sales and size up to get your monies worth. The target clothing (Cat and Jack) is only a little bit cheaper and the stuff doesn't last half as long before fading. My 9 YO daughter can wear JJ clothing for over a year with no tearing, rips or fading. No other clothing line will last that long! read more

Best store for sure for special occasion dresses and outfits for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and kids 12 and under great for resort wear for vacations for kids and love the impeccably dressy casual clothes. They are the best place to create complete outfits from head to toe. This is not the place to pick up clothes for your kid to play in the mud that would be Gymboree or The Children's place in the same mall. kEEP YOUR RECEIPTS!!! Super cute selection of holiday clothing for little girls. It's a week before Christmas and I was able to find my daughter 2 outfits off the 60% sale rack and some tights to complete the look. I thought I grabbed tights for 6-9 months but they were 6-9 YEAR OLD. I'm glad that the cashier caught that because I would've been bummed if my daughter couldn't wear her tights with her cute little Christmas dress. I think a lot of the pieces are great when styled with other items but my reason for the low rating and the reason I will NEVER shop there again is the return policy. I recieved about 20 pieces as a gift. I went to return 3 for store credit and the woman at the counter would not do the exchange because I did not have my CA driver's license (lost it yesterday). I did have a full wallet of other ID's and credit cards with my name and picture. I'm a mom of a 5 month old and shopping in La Jolla, when I live in Encinitas, is a rare occasion. I will be donating the unworn items (tags still on)! I think their customer service sucks so much I wouldn't want to burden anyone else with this brand. For the price, Sweet Pea, in Del Mar, has way better items as does Nordstrom. Plus better service and amazing return policies. read more

They remove items from ur cart and don't send it and then when u try to contact them via email they don't respond at all no matter how many times u try. When I called them they go oh just order it again and pay shipment all over again for a mistake I didn't do. So for the money ur paying unfortunately very low quality service. And the most awkward thing ever ur only allowed to use their gift certificate in Store not Online. You can order online and pay for it out of your pocket but you have to visit their store to purchase with the gift card obviously to make u buy more stuff. Very disappointing. read more

Very disappointed with their pricing policies. The online prices are less than the in store prices for items on sale. The explanation is that the stores function independently and run promos at different times. In today's retail environment this is an awful and very sneaky and deceptive business practice. They told me they don't typically price match their own online prices, but a manager made an exception for me. I'm not sure I'll be visiting one of their stores again. I was on the market for a newsboy cap for my son. Someone recommended that I check Janie & Jack's. Not only did they have newsboy caps, but they happened to have them in all different colors and patterns! I got it on sale for around $12. The prices are a little steep for baby clothes but the sales are great. If you go when they are bringing in the next season's clothes, you can get good deals on really cute clothes. read more

Even before I had my own baby, I visited Janie and Jack often because it has been my first choice for baby shower gifts for quite a while now. Now that I have my own daughter, I frequent the store often for classic '40s and 50's inspired baby clothes and accessories. The prices are higher than the average store, but the quality of the clothes explains the price. All dresses are lined, there's all sorts of details, and it's all clothes that lasts through countless washings. Plus, they also have frequent sales and send coupons online and through the mail. It is a small store though, so it's difficult getting around the fixtures with a stroller. read more
