Absolutely terrible experience at Fancy Sushi & Grill. The sushi looked old and unsafe to eat. The tuna had a brown tint to it and did not appear fresh at all. The steak was served cold, and overall the food was disgusting and nowhere near the quality you would expect from a restaurant charging these prices. What made the experience even worse was the customer service. When I politely explained that the food was unacceptable and requested a refund, management became argumentative instead of trying to resolve the situation. Rather than addressing the obvious quality issues, they seemed more concerned with refusing responsibility. Between the questionable freshness of the fish, cold steak, poor food quality, and lack of customer service, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are far better sushi restaurants in Jacksonville Beach that actually care about the quality of their food and their customers. read more

Fancy sushi had great service from the minute we sat down. I had the fillet and lobster hibachi and my son had a couple of Neptune rolls with both orders. We got soup an appetizer and a salad. I do the hibachi a couple times a week but this was our first visit to fancy sushi. I must say the quality of their meat and the lobster was outstanding. My son enjoyed his Neptune role very much. Fancy sushi is the best place at the beach if you love sushi and particularly sashimi. There is no better place for consistently well cut, big thick pieces of sashimi. Their salmon sashimi is so good it's like butter. I wouldn't say there's much very "fancy" about fancy sushi in terms of decor or menu items, but it doesn't need to be. The service has always been prompt, and I love that they bring you soup right away and a holiday roll, and it's included. So, you never sit there starving! We usually get sashimi, a roll and the kids steak hibachi for our son. The hibachi is standard, always good but nothing particularly amazing about it. I do like that it's a good price for the kid's portion. We love the Yellowtail Jalapeño appetizer, and it usually had some decently sized pieces of yellowtail. I have ordered this at other places and the slices are thin slivers. But Fancy Sushi always does big cuts for their sashimi. I have not tried a lot of their cooked options, so my review is for the true sushi lovers. I'm not talking California rolls here or anything deep fried. Where they really stand out is the quality of and size of their sashimi cuts. They also have the best prices on good cold sake. I recommend the Aladdin bottle. We were excited to check this place out after the good reviews but kind of disappointed. We got two basic rolls but no sauces or toppings on them. They told us the shrimp tempura would have eel sauce and it didn't. In addition we ordered a "chicken fried rice" as listed on their menu and they brought us plain rice with a little soy sauce and chicken on the side, no vegetables or anything. We asked our server and she was initially rude and saying that's how they give chicken fried rice but eventually one of the other workers was nice enough to take it back and take it off our check. The actual sushi did taste good and the restaurant was simple but a nice place to eat! JA really liked her Poke Bowl with white rice, raw salmon, mango, crispy nori, radish (didn't taste like anything), avocado, and edamame. I had the volcano roll (had cream cheese in it) and california roll and they were good. I just ate too much. K had the hibachi rice & veggies with scallops and shrimp. Took my nieces here as they wanted to try. So glad they choose this place as the service, food and ambiance was amazing. Our server was on point and was very accommodating from how she greeted us , to order taking, to checking up on us during our dinner and most importantly did not rush us out. Super chill and super nice Morgan was. The ambiance was great, nothing too fancy , well except for the food lol. The noise level was good, the place itself is on the smaller side but we were able to carry on conversations without background noise being a distraction or disturbance. I ordered the Poke Bowl. Honestly one of the best bowls I have had in a longgggg time. I had the salmon and tuna with 5 toppings which are included by choice- mango, Kani, seaweed, avocado, enamande and white rice. I always get a classic California roll, a Dynamite roll with a new one I haven't tried. Each time I order its a different roll with a new acquired taste. Lives up to the name!! Went there with some friends and ordered 8 pc sashimi. Omggg it's soo fresh, almost melts in your mouth. I was in the area and already had a late lunch, so I was not going to have dinner. But, I saw so much traffic in and out of Fancy Sushi & Grill-I decided to go ahead and order a meal, plus an extra clear soup and a salad. I ordered the Habachi chicken that came with clear soup and a salad, so an extra soup and a California roll was added to my order. Then, I headed home to share the huge meal with Ernie. Ernie and I split the meal and still had so much entree left over. We had our fill. I was too full to try the soup. I will try it tomorrow. I have to make a special mention for the dear sweet lady at the front desk, cashier and order taking station. That lady can multitask like a sixteen year old. Kudos to that hard working woman. Wow! Pros: the food was good, hot and very tasty. The decor and atmosphere was nice, the sushi bar looked pleasant as well. We were in the area after watching my daughters volleyball game and it was her birthday so we let her choose the place she could eat sushi breakfast, lunch or dinner and this place had good reviews so... winner, winner. Service: we had a party of 5 (yes, like the show!) and we were sat immediately. Waitress took our drink orders within minutes of being sat. She promptly returned with our drinks and clear soup for everyone (which we didn't even order!). Just a few minutes later she brought out 2 orders of this delicious appetizer we also didn't order! We were so busy scarfing down the app and the soul that it took us forever to even decide what we wanted to order. She checked back at least 3 times to see if we were ready to order. Not in a pushy way, just being attentive. We finally figured out what we wanted and maybe 8 minutes later we had our food. It was plated well and already had all of the sauces we'd want at the table. After finishing dinner, she promptly cleared the table and then surprised my daughter with dimming the restaurant lights, bringing the lovely pictured dessert (fried ice cream and oreos) and sang happy birthday to her! We briefly mentioned it was her birthday but didn't ask for anything or talk about it again so it was a surprise to me too. The whole restaurant chimed in to say happy birthday to her. They made it very special! Exceptional and caring service. Food: the first thing we got was clear soup and literally the best clear soup I've had (and I have had a lot from many Japanese restaurants). My daughter said the same thing about it so it's not just me. Next was the appetizer, which was a deep fried crab and cream cheese tempura roll with sauce on top. It was so good. It didn't last long. For dinner I got the rock n roll and the fancy sushi roll. Both of them were delicious. Fancy sushi roll was fresh and a lot of food, I didn't even need the 2nd roll. My husband got the volcano roll and it was different and flavorful. It was very good and different from the normal cooked sushi. My kids got their normal Philadelphia roll and rock and roll which were good but can't really mess that up. The dessert was delicious. I never had fried oreos and boy that won't be the last. It is busy during peak lunch hours so they may have a wait. Luckily we got sat right away but they were definitely busy. Me and my cousin visited Fancy Sushi and Grill today and as soon as we ordered our food everything was going great, super nice staff. Until my cousin didn't enjoy her food, it was making her feel unwell and she brought the waitress over asking if she could change her meal or take it off the bill. She only took 2 bites and the waitress gave her a dirty look and said no you ordered it so we can't take it off and walked away. We both just looked at eachother and then we were done and got the bill. We walked up to the host stand, asked him if there's any way to see a manager and we told him the issue. As we're talking she interrupts and starts going off saying she ate everything. We were just in disbelief because her entire plate was not touched and she started adding little comments.
