They names this place right!! Our friend suggested we go here and what a treat it was! This is a small restaurant that packs a big punch, nestled in the confines of a strip mall. The water wall is pretty cool when you first go in, very tranquil. The seating is pretty close together but we managed to get to our seats. This is a nice place, and if your kids are under control, great! but to the lady who was next to us, encouraging her kid to literally lick the plate...c'mon!!! Use your good parenting skills lady! Back to our table. there were 5 of us so we had a array of things happening. I would first like to mention that our service was very quick and prompt and never was a glass empty or an empty dish left sitting for long at the table. When we first sat down, we were each given a bowl of miso soup, and the table was supplied with 3 (remember there were 5 of us) little plates of this amazing cream cheese crab something amazing rolls! Just for sitting down! Hello.. I love you already! I can't recall what everyone ordered, but I know we got the beef negimaki and the kani salad to start off with. But it didn't stop there, my husband got the mackerel and a couple of other pieces that I don't know. I ordered the Ginza, which was AMAZING!!!! Nice atmosphere. You are served soup and some type of sushi while you are waiting for your order. The food was great! I do wish there was a bit more of an explanation of the menu items. For beginner sushi eaters this can be an overwhelming restaurant. As someone who is somewhat familiar with sushi I was able to order for my party. Food is Great BUT keep in mind they think there customers are stupid. A person at my home called a order in for pick up. The woman took the order then asked him if he knew where they were and that they get a lot of people that go to the wrong place. He told her he knows where they are at. Fancy Sushi has been our go to place to get sushi for years. I can't recall ever having a bad experience. Ms Susan and her staff are very attentive without being overbearing. I was there with family one evening when an elderly gentleman at another table spilled his drink twice. Ms. Susan was very kind and caring as she wiped up his table and gently spoke to him. She continued to reassure the man. It was like she was taking care of someone in her family. The food is consistently great. Even my young grandchildren love it. Nice place as when you sit down, they serve you a complementary small roll and house soup. That is great to help curb your hunger right away. I had the teriyaki red snapper and it tasted great! The portion is large as you can see in the photograph. There is also a large portion of vegetables which I loved, I also had the Fancy Dragon Roll and it was out of this world! Love the flavor and they don't put a lot of rice in the rolls so you can taste all the elements of the fish. Loved this hidden gem! Service and food were both fantastic! Complimentary appetizer and soup were a nice touch. I'm gluten free and they had tamari sauce and knew what I could and couldn't eat. My husband and I split salmon and tuna sashimi. Very fresh. We then had a spicy salmon roll which was one of the best I've ever had. Their green emerald roll was fantastic - fresh avocado. We also had the fancy sushi roll which was just as delicious. We ended our meal with green tea ice cream and my husband had the complimentary fried Oreo. Got a larger party? No problem! Fancy Sushi is crazy accommodating! Have a seat and look over the menu. Don't forget to look at the special board for some tasty sounding rolls. Look back, and boom... theres some krab mixed with spicy mayo for you to snack on! From here the experience just gets better and better. The servers are so sweet and attentive. We never get the chance to ask for more to drink because our cups aren't empty. The sushi comes out fast and it tastes fresh! The cooked rolls are nice and crispy. The spicy rolls are perfectly spicy! I'm telling you, I can't rave about this place enough! Lastly, they bring you a fried dessert (on the house, usually)! As a "thank you for choosing us" gesture! Where else can you get that? As someone who lives in a big, mean city, I can't get enough of the kindness of the employees here. I was pleasantly surprised by Fancy Sushi. I looked up Sushi restaurants on Yelp and this one came up with some good reviews on Amelia Island so we decided to give it a go. They are extremely welcoming and ready to serve the moment you walk in the door. The gave my wife a complimentary drink and in the end the deep fried Oreos where a.w.e.s.o.m.e. We order multiple items off the menu and they all where very good. I ordered some spicier sushi and it had the kick I was looking for plus a little more. The person who took my order was super confused when I asked for a total and it took another 5 minutes or so to sort out what I had ordered and to confirm they had it. Not a good sign. The rice has ZERO flavor and is disgustingly bland. The fish was OK, but I've had much better quality elsewhere. Prices are too high for the lack of quality and flavor. Strolled into this cute little sushi establishment at noon today. Beautiful inside, but I wanted take out. After finding out their lunch specials are done in only (understandable), I ordered a variety of 10 rolls for my group. I was told 15-20 minutes! "What a reasonable amount of time!" I thought to myself. I returned after 20 minutes and awkwardly waited another 20 minutes while the hostess played with a stapler. During the time I was waiting for my sushi, people came in, sat down, ate, and had received their bills. I understand dine in customers' service being slightly more expedient, but I felt as I had been placed in the back burner for sushi that was.. A little over pricey. When I finally got my sushi, it was beautifully laid out on a to-go platter tray. Very nice presentation. Brought it home and dug in! Sushi was pretty good. I've had better and the rolls were a little small.. But they had 8 pieces which was a nice bonus. All the fish tasted a little fresh. All in all, the experience was ok. I probably wouldn't come back for take out, but I would consider dining in and maybe updating my review.. And with not even as much as a "sorry" for my double wait time, I felt like they didn't need or want my patronage. We will see. read more

Only issue was I ordered steak and scallop hibachi and got shrimp and scallop, which was fine with me since I like shrimp as well. I didn't bring it up. Our server was a lovely lady named Corrine. Very nice experience! Came on a Saturday afternoon, expecting it to be very busy. Pleasantly surprised it was steady and we were seated promptly. The appetizer is a favorite. We ordered another. I had shrimp hibachi and my husband had chicken. The soup, salad and food arrived in perfect timing. Cooked very well. Ashley waited on us like we were her only guest. Fancy Sushi has recently been impressing me and I thought it was due time to write as such. I herd a rumor that the place was cited for health code violations. I don't know if there was any truth to this, but I do know that after hearing that the quality has noticeably kicked up a notch. Bravo to Susan (the master, and boss of fancy) who is always on the floor and brings all of her regulars free drinks once in a while. If you want sushi on the island and don't want to drop too much money then make sure to try Fancy. I am a very fond of their crazy tuna rolls, sushi dinner, and sashimi dinners. I've only come for lunch but that's because it's an incredible value! First, the service is great. We were sat immediately on a pretty busy day and some how our glass never got below half empty. We were brought complementary miso soup. AND complementary crab ragoon! Are you sold yet? The best part about lunch is you can get three types of rolls for $13. The list from which you can choose is a little limited but still good. Post feast we were offered COMPLEMENTARY FRIED OREO... ok, Fancy Sushi. You win. Definitely better than Hana :( read more
