However, there was a major problem with my bowl: half the things I asked to be put in it were replaced with something else. This was very strange and I will chalk it up to a new place being super busy and running out of the ingredients I ordered. Since we ordered pickup, there really was no way for them to let me know they substituted anything. Whoever put the bowl together knew what they were doing because it came out great despite not having the things I asked for in it. Husband enjoyed his red chicken curry as well. First time visiting Fancy Sushi. Got to restaurant at 6:15 pm and it was packed. Waited about 10 min to be seated. Sat down and immediately served miso soup along with our drinks (waters). Then a tempura roll provided. Soup & roll were part of the dining experience (no charge). We ordered tempura shrimp w/veggies. Very good. Fried rice- very good. Also ordered Jax Roll, Crunchy Roll and Sweet Mango Roll. All were excellent. At the end of dinner, server provided us with fortune cookies & fried Oreos. Very good experience. Actually this could even get a 4.5. Has its own free parking lot in a small commercial strip. You walk into the place & it's very pretty. Hostess greeted us, but we like sitting at the counter so we did. The minute we sat down we each had a soup out in front of us. We're like ok. Then came a we believe krab (imitation) stick tempura roll. Great! We saw the menu offered sushi, separated by raw & cooked versions, poke bowls, ramen & Hibatchi. We got the Mango roll (no fish eggs), California roll & the dynamite roll (cooked version). We also got the steak spicy kimchi ramen. Everything was really good and the service was very attentive & beautiful presentation to match. After we finished, here came a plate of 2 tempura Oreos & whipped cream with our fortune cookies. This new place gave us a nice vibe the minute we stepped in. The service was also great. Upon being seated we were given soup to eat and an appetizer that we didn't know the name. So the waiter explained that it was fried imitation crab with cream cheese. My husband and both enjoyed that. My salad was plain except that it had this delicious mango ginger dressing that I I could lick off the bowl. I ordered the regular sashimi and was really impressed. The presentation of the meal was a work of art. Then after our meal, we were given (on the house) a pretty dessert. The strawberry mochi was the perfect end to a perfect meal. The only thing that was disappointing was the hostess, she didn't say anything to greet us and just threw the menus on the table and walk away. Fancy Sushi in St. Augustine has wonderful food - the portions are large and always fresh. The ambiance in the restaurant is very modern yet still cozy. The service is always great. One thing to be aware of is when ordering to-go the are pretty skimpy on the shrimp sauce. And disclaimer: Our family loves the shirmp sauce so it's a bit of a sticking point. The little containers they give you are usually only filled up about half way and they will only give you 3 per entree. Beyond that and you have to pay for a huge bucket of sauce. Pretty funny considering they put an entire bottle on the table when dining in. Wouldn't have a problem paying extra if the containers were properly filled in the first place. Overall, highly recommend but it's definitely worth it to eat-in vs. getting to-go. read more
