Probably a better suited date place to start or end with drinks, but not worth it for food; at all. My gf and I went during happy hour, and we also made a rsvp since we heard the place could get pretty "poppin" - definitely a good idea since the place did start filling up pretty steadily after happy hour. Overall, maybe a 2 star experience. If it were strictly for food, maybe 1 star...and that's generous considering the pricing and value of actual food DOES NOT match. For happy hour, we ordered a dozen oysters. These were actually the best value of the night. We also ordered chicken skewers (not marinated or seasoned well enough, but was tender) and honestly the Tzatziki sauce tasted like the same dip from Trader Joe's, an order of hamachi tostada (for $20, this was biggest disappointment with size and value, but concept was commendable), watermelon and heirloom tomato salad (refreshing since it was a hot day and watermelon was sweet, but overpowered by the amount of feta and lacked in dressing), and a roast lamb flatbread (the thinly shaved lamb reminded me of thickly shaved gyro meat that may have dried out as they baked the flatbread, and could have used some type of sauce since it was dry). For drinks, my gf ordered an espresso martini and said it "surprisingly good" and I ordered a sprite and sparkling water, and neither were properly carbonated and was "flat", like the overall experience. Went for restaurant week - note that you should be there before 9pm because the kitchen closes at 10pm. Ambiance is nice, a really cute date spot or a time for catching up drinks. Food is average at best. I didn't enjoy their salmon dish because of the roe in it, mainly just un-expected. Pasta tasted bland. The ribeye of the pasta was flavorful and meaty, but skimpy. Sorbet is good because it tastes fresh. Service was nice and accommodating and they were able to give good recommendations. read more

We went here for brunch this weekend, I enjoyed the benedict but the steak and eggs was one of the worst we've tried anywhere... the eggs were not over easy like we asked and the steak was dry and sinewy. Overall the dish was just dry and bland. Our server was the reason we won't be coming back-- he was unnecessarily rude and at multiple times during our meal we saw him gesturing and laughing at us with other employees. We didn't complain about anything, certainly weren't rude, and stayed well within our reservation time so I have no idea what warranted that treatment. The ambiance and decor of this spot is super colorful and bright. Definitely an old warehouse converted into a beautiful space. We were seated right away on Wednesday night, which was great. We shared the spice crusted tuna, the búfalina pizza, and the mushroom gnocchi. For the price point, I wasn't blown away by the food. The pizza was a little too thin, which made it hard to hold with the toppings. The sauce was also too sweet for my preferences. The gnocchi and tuna were tasty but again wasn't blown away. Came here for my friends birthday and had such a lovely time! The waiter, Jake, was amazing and helpful and everything came out pretty quickly. We even got complimentary shots that were great. I definitely recommend the voyageur passionne drink and I loved that every food item was able to be split so easily. In a Yelp review, one is asked to consider food, service, and ambience. Fandi Mata is a place that does superbly well in all three categories. A gorgeous setting with trees and vines, and a super-high ceiling of beautiful design (as you've already seen in the photos). We came in for a very early dinner and so were among very few customers. The service we received was outstanding, and we felt like a prince and princess being doted on for any concern. Obviously, I cannot speak to the service when it's more crowded. And finally, the food. We started with the tender Wagyu meatballs, which were served with a flavorful tomato sauce. That was nothing, however, compared to the delicious entrée of the gnocchi with lamb ragú. Came here on my birthday with a group of 8. We were greeted with the friendliest smile by Alicia. Our party was running late so a few friends and I waited for them at the bar and were taken care of by Forrest and Edilberto. Order the espresso martini, always! It just gets better after every round lol. Finally the rest of our party arrived, we were taken care of by Evelyn. She made sure we were always taken care of, checked on us plenty of times and was patient with us throughout the entire time. She made sure we left happy. Thank you guys for the hospitality! Rip off. I was there with a large group to celebrate a special occasion. During the dinner, we asked a server if we could order 15 tequila shots. He said he would send across a waiter. Instead of the waiter coming over with a menu, they bought the round of the most expensive shots they had, along with the bill. We had reservations for 3 for Restaurant Week on a Saturday. Fandi Mata always brings the vibe and the ambiance is superb. The restaurant week deal was very good and the three of us shared the tuna carpaccio, little gem salad, baked oysters, grilled swordfish, chicken, gnocchi, tiramisu, panna cotta and the pistachio gelato. As someone who visits Fandi Mata outside the restaurant week menu, I have to say, it's a pretty decent deal. My favorite dishes were - baked oysters, gem salad and gnocchi, which I would tend to order outside the restaurant wk deal anyways. The drinks are always solid, the FM martini and strawberry fields are so good. It did annoy me that you need to ask your waiter for the restaurant week menu, I've never had that happen at other establishments. They also got our drink orders wrong a couple of times and didn't refill our water but I do admit it was a busy Saturday (though the upstairs was closed). read more

Decor and ambiance was phenom. Beautiful and fun atmosphere with crazy high ceilings. I will say the espresso martini was great, a little on the pricier side, but the food wasn't our fave. To be fair we did share pizza which isn't typical for a tapas spot, but a bit on the soggy end. We would definitely recommend the Brussel sprouts if you're on the edge. The music that evening seemed to have eclectic rural influence; sort of a blend of Arabic, Eastern European, and South American influences. Quite upbeat and rhythmic. Altogether, it makes for an impressionable experience. On to the food. We started with the mezze platter. It's a mix of various middle eastern salads such as hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki, and more. Next we had the tuna tartare. We followed it with the tartufo (truffle) pizza, and finished with the lamb shank. Lots of middle eastern and French influences in the food. This place is amazing! One of my favorite places in Williamsburg...actually all of Brooklyn to be honest. The ambience and aesthetics is perfect for a birthday dinner or even just a fun random night out with friends. Has sexy boho vibes and a DJ gives that gives the venue life! I've actually been here before for a quick drink and snack, but this time we got to dive into the menu! For app, we had the Crispy Chicken Thigh (which comes with an amazing side salad and hummus), Lamb Skewers, Chicken Skewers and Shishito Peppers (tasty but beware, some peppers can be spicy. They vary). Next, for entrees - 3 of us ordered the Braised Lamb Shank. I mean, that lamb just falls of the bone, served over some warm rice, cauliflower...listen, when I say that plate was *chef's kiss*, especially on a chilly, rainy day...just take my word for it! Not a single drink we ordered was bad! I had the Sazerac...wow. Also recommend the Espresso Martini. And finally, end the meal with the Nutella Crepe...you won't be disappointed. Ok so I have been meaning to check this spot out after seeing so many people post about it on Instagram. My friend and I went for brunch and had a reservation - I was running 15 mins late so they couldn't seat my friend until everyone was there but they did have a cool waiting area. When I finally made it the staff was super sweet. I have a gluten intolerance and the waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu it made me very comfortable dining here unlike other places where the waiter/waitress is confused about what gluten even is. The menu is mainly Mediterranean; I got the shakshuka without the bread and honestly it was very good it wasn't the best one that I've had but it was solid; my friend had the halloumi fries and loved them; sad that I couldn't have them because they are coated or cross contaminated with breadcrumbs? I also had a latte here and honestly the coffee was the best part it tasted amazing, just the right balance of espresso/milk. I do wish they offered gluten free bread as most places now do so. Ok this obviously cannot be a review of Fandi Mata without reviewing the interior; it was as gorgeous as pictured with large plants sweeping the tall walls - think large Brooklyn warehouse kind of vibes due to the high exposed ceilings and the bathrooms are also very cute (dark lighting, for any of my fellow girls trying to look to take a selfie LMAO). We went before Christmas time and they had a large tree up which I loved. Also I can't forget the tables, great design on them - small touches that make a difference! I heard about Fandi Mata because I was seated at a bar in another Mediterranean spot next to some of their wonderful staff who clued me in! Walked in, and just like other reviewers have said, it's like a Moroccan oasis. A Havana atrium. Great ambient lighting, perfect mood, live music, great food. Portion size could be a teeny bigger for the price but the taste is there. We sat right next to the stage and had the chicken skewers, meze platter, croquetas and Brussels sprouts. I dined here last October when I attended my friend's birthday party. I wasn't sure if I would okay to attend during the pandemic but it was fine. Croquetas: tastes just like Spanish croquettes. the manchego to me felt weird at first when I read the menu but after trying it, it definitely goes well with the croquetas. Crispy chicken thigh: brought back flavours of Malaysian style lemon chicken. I love the mix of the acid in this dish and the chicken was cooked well. Branzino: it's was HUGE!!!! For two!! The fish was not over cooked and very tasty with all the spices they use to marinade it. We couldn't finish it and brought it home and warmed it up in the oven the next day and it still tasted really good. Definitely recommend to order this dish. Fandi Double Cheese Burger: nothing too fancy here but good fries and was served medium rare as requested. All the staff there were so friendly and pleasant. Shout out to all!! The outdoor seating is pet friendly but you won't be able to enjoy the beautiful decor indoors if you are sitting outside. It is a tad noisy though on the inside so it depends what you are looking for. I would advice to come in the afternoon or for brunch to truly enjoy the beauty of this place. My friends and I came here for a girls' night dinner on a Friday night. The space is huge and very accommodating for big parties. It's a little on the noisy side, but the vibe was very lively and energetic. We ordered the Fandi Salad, Summer Burrata Salad, Chicken Skewer, Croquetas (3-4 per serving), Spiced Roasted Eggplant, Tuna Tartare, Mezze Platter, Spring Vegetables, and Branzino (deboned). The standout items were the Burrata Salad (I mean, who doesn't love creamy mozzarella?), Croquetas (crunchy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside), and Branzino (tender fish topped with diced tomatoes). The chicken skewer was on the dry side, would probably not order that again. The service was very attentive. Our server continually checked on us, asked us if we wanted more drinks, etc. The food also came out very quickly. Came to Fandi Mata on a Sunday afternoon for brunch with a group of 6 and it was overall a pleasant experience. The interior is beautiful, felt like I was in a little garden. If you're into instagrammable spots, you've come to the right spot. I had a passion fruit margarita that was very delicious and the right amount of tequila. Before being seated at our table, we sat by the bar and the bartender was super friendly and made great drinks, wish I caught her name. For food, we shared a prosciutto pizza and a margarita. Both we very good. For my meal, I had the Spanish burger. It was very tasty and super filling. I barely could finish. The patatas bravas were also good. Minus 1.5 star/ because our waiter was horrible. We were sitting for 20 mins before we had to flag someone down and ask for our waiter to come take our orders. That's unacceptable. Then he seemed to be annoyed while taking orders and with questions some of my party had, as if it's not his literal job to answer a simple question. After our orders were taken, it took equally as long for him to bring our drinks and he forgot one to the point someone from my table got up and went to the bar to order it and came back to the table. Throughout the meal he didn't check in on us and we had to search for him again just to order more cocktails. Overall his demeanor and lack of presence almost ruined a great brunch. And at the end of the meal we couldn't find him to get our check and eventually another waiter came and told us he had actually left for the day. Typically waiters will at least let you know that their shift is ending and ask if you need anything else before bringing the check.
