If I can rate this place ZERO I would. Do not be deceived by the rating I do not know how they have this rating. My family and I had been coming for many years and lately they are the most ill-mannered people I have ever encountered. They charge you based on the mood they are in and lord forbid you go there in a nice car because they will give you this outrageous price. My sister went to buy a Mother's Day arrangements and was charge one amount for an arraignment, we get it usually these places take advantage around holidays what not. Come today they wanted to charge $25 more for something smaller. But that isn't even the issue if they practiced decent customer service maybe we wouldn't mind paying. The location is right before you hit the museum district, "Flower row". I needed a birthday arrangement, I went to another flower shop very close to this one but I was so disappointed in there selection and the flowers looked brown already. I asked the lady if they could make a fresh arrangement and was told these were fresh. Needless to say I left. I circled the street and saw Fannin Flower's pink flamingo from the street. My fiancé surprised me with a vase of flowers from this place about 3 days ago, and they are already wilting. I was asking him if they gave him any flower food and he tried calling to see if they could give it to him but they wanted him to buy it at an extra cost after having spent over $200. At any other flower shop they give you 2-3 flower packets and the flowers last for about 2-3 weeks not days. On top of that they were already telling him they don't do any refunds when all we were asking was for the flower food. My fiancé then explained to me that he even received bad service when he was there. They were pushy, rushing him, and gave attitudes like if it was an inconvenience for him being there. I'm trying to see if I can somehow keep them alive longer and realized they didn't even cut the stems at an angle after having them on the vase already. Great if you need to buy a lot of flowers. Certainly save money by collecting your own bunches of flowers to create a collage. If you are just trying to make your own single bouquet, probably not worth it unless you just really want to make your own. There were plenty of other things there i did not pay attention to, i went there to get flowers for a baby shower. The flowers lasted for over a week, and were decently priced. Flowers are beautiful, and when you can get them at a discount... they look more beautiful still. I was in charged of the flower arrangements for a work related event so my creative side took over and I thought of an arrangement to put together. We needed 16 arrangements, which means I needed to stay below budget. I had originally wanted colored carnations, baby breath, and greenery for the arrangement, but the carnations seemed to be out of our price range. I called a few different flower shops to find out prices and even went to one or two with one of my coworkers. I called Fannin Flowers and asked her what price they could give us, she seemed open to negotiating so We finally decided to go with roses. Lucky(?) for us this flower shop sold us 3 bunches of long stem roses (25 each) three sets of greenery and two sets of baby breath for $90! It took a lot of negotiating to get the price down to that from $120, but it was well worth it. The arrangements turned out beautiful and the roses lasted many days afterward. Had we had more time, I am sure I could have gotten the price lower... keep that in mind for next time. read more

This place has a lot of selections for plants but not so much for fresh flowers if you want to buy them separately and make the arrangement yourself. I was very discouraged when the workers there didn't want to help much. They also will overcharge you if you don't pay attention. I bought a peony for Mother's Day. I called before and asked for the price. When they rang me up it was double. When I questioned the price they started speaking quickly to each other where I could not understand. They then said it was because they wrapped it in green paper. What a sham. I went yesterday and the lady was very dismissive, abrupt and just seem like she was in a rush even when barely anyone was there. I would talk and in the middle of me speaking she walks away. DO NOT COME HERE!!! First off let me start by saying my family and I have patronized this flower shop for years. Today,however was different. I went to the back to find a dozen roses and was told that it would be $25. However when I got to the front of the store I was told that those I had were $70 a piece. So instead I decided to go with the 2 1/2 a dozen at the front and have the older man at the check out add greenery. He already had an attitude with me changing my mind about the other roses then he turns to the young men next to him and says something along the lines of " these are no longer good because she put her nasty black hands on them" in Spanish to which the older man and the two younger men laughed. ( Mind you i am bilingual so I understood every word he said). Unfortunately I had checked out before he said this otherwise I wouldn't have paid. I am beyond hurt and disgusted with the service I received and will not be returning. If you are a BLACK person DO NOT GO HERE!!! THEY DO NOT DESERVE YOUR MONEY!!!! I ordered flowers for my wedding in March, to pick up in April. When I got there the NIGHT BEFORE MY WEDDING they had lost my order form. NONE of my flowers were ready. They acted like I hadn't ordered anything until I brought my order form for them to see, which is when they magically found the original order form.. they made us come back an hour later and the flowers still were wrong. I've been here about 10 times in the last year and my last few experiences were not great with this one older gentleman with a mustache who works the cashier but I mistakenly assumed he was just not the friendliest person. However today I realized he can be friendly just not to me for some reason. I was waiting in line on a busy day and he was smiley and friendly to everyone ahead of me until I was next to check out and he never looked in my direction despite being right in front of him. He then proceeded to check out three people who were not in line and one who was actually behind me in line. As he started on the fourth person without even acknowledging I was there I placed the 50$ arrangement back and asked for the manager who was "not present". Moral of the story is go with your gut and there are too many options to put up with someone who picks and chooses when he wants to display some semblance of customer service. I will never be back and make sure everyone else I know does the same. In the end my wife's bouquet turned out beautiful but the journey their was why I didn't give more than three stars. The night (almost midnight) before my wedding my now wife asked me to call to make sure her bouquet would be finished. I called and no one spoke too much English and the one person that spoke a little, told me that they had no idea about my order. My wife started freaking out and I said I would come down with our hand written invoice copy. When I arrived the person I talked to told me someone would be in during the morning and that I could talk to them then. They totally didn't have my invoice at the time and didn't make the bouquet. My wife who speaks some Spanish had to start yelling at the guy through FT on my phone (granted I'm exhausted from wedding prep) to get him to promise to have it done by 6am like they originally promised. He wrote down what was In the order. I came back 5 hours later to find they made the wrong color bouquet and had to sit there and explain to the guy what we ordered all over again. At this time they had finally found our invoice but it was wrong. So the morning I was getting married, I spent first part of it waiting on flowers instead of resting and preparing for my vows. I have been buying flowers from Fannin for months because I live in midtown and it's convenient When I first started coming here they were $14 per dozen, which was amazing! Then they went up to $16, which was ok, they always have a large selection. Lately, the roses have been very small and generally not great quality. Finally they told me $20-25 for a dozen tiny rose buds. I'd rather go get big beautiful roses from a grocery store than spend that much on tiny roses that die before they ever open. Save yourself the trouble and the money and avoid the rude staff and go literally anywhere else. The quality is constantly declining and the prices are increasing. I've purchased flowers(also friends & family) from Fannin Flowers for several years and today's visit was the one visit where I will never return. I went today to gather information in regards to having Fannin Flowers provide flowers for my upcoming wedding. The older male told me I should come in 2 weeks before my wedding. I proceeded to show him a few pictures and he directed me to the right side of the shop where a stand was positioned on the table labeled "Wedding". I began looking inside the book when I was approached by a younger male who was assisting me. I began showing the male pictures inside my phone and asked if they could make similar arrangements. Before he could give me a answer an older female interrupted us and began talking in a fussing manner and moving her finger simulating no. I thought maybe he did something wrong, I continued to talk and at this point she pulled him away yelling "no no". Each time the younger male would assisted me she would pull him away. The male returned and I ordered a bouquet of flower roses and carnations which cost 30.00 and a few cents. The price of the flowers wasn't the issue... the issue was the rude disrespectful treatment. I paid for the flowers and was really bothered by the treatment I received. I asked the older gentleman "Jose" what was the other female employee issue with me purchasing the flowers and he smiled. I left the location and was still bothered by the treatment, I called back for the owner and/or manager and guess who answered......... the mean employee who stated the owner/manager wasn't there. I proceeded to ask the employee when will the manager return and again being rude stated she didn't know. I called the next morning and was given the name of the manager who never existed when I called the third time. On my fourth time calling I spoke with the "manager" who actually was the older gentleman who assisted me the day before. Obviously I'm not the only person who had an issue with this employee and he even stated he noticed how she treated me when I was there. He assured me that his boss would contact me..as of today no one has contacted me in regards to this employee disrespectful behavior. I'd rather pay triple the price for flower arrangements rather than deal with spending my money and feel disrespected. I ordered flowers from this florist by telephone from Chicago to bypass the middleman's fees. I chose it based strictly from Yelp reviews and zip code. I ordered an arrangement for a Baby Boy to be delivered to a hospital room. I said I wanted to spend $50 and no more. The man who answered said the Baby Boy arrangements were $45. He could have lied to make a few extra bucks but he didn't. However, what impressed me the most is that the flowers arrived to the hospital room (actual room, not just the messenger center) within 30 mins. That's exceptional. While it took a little long to get the information across by phone, I was overall impressed with the picture the recipient sent me, the quantity of flowers, quality of vase, and the size. Decided to come on Valentine's-day(Ha Yeah i'm one of those people) . Sooo yeah it was a little hectic trying to find parking. But after i got there , i was amazed by all the flowers they had. Everything was organized by type of flowers and type of arrangements. Employees were helpful and asked questions when i looked confused. I had seen they even had a refrigerated room for "Fresh flowers " pretty cool. Once i picked out my flowers , this man kindly asked if i'd wanted them wrapped for just $4 extra. I gave in .... He picked off the ugly pedals off and then arranged my flowers in a nice little way and wrapped them up so delicately. Check out was fast for the amount of people that were there. Compared to other places ON V-DAY, the flowers were priced well! overall i payed $57 for two dozen roses and with that $4 fee to get them wrapped up pretty. My grandma LOVEDD her roses. I called for a same day delivery.... the gal I spoke to quoted me an amount. I told her I would call back in 5 minutes to confirm the delivery location would be open. I called back nobody knew who I spoke to, they would not take my delivery order, and told met to call another number. I did called back and forth twice. I came here for the first time yesterday. I've passed by numerous times when going to MFAH. I decided to stop by to get some flowers for my grandma. I had brought my own vase. Right at the entrance are white 5 gallon buckets with flowers sold by the stem. There weren't any prices on them, but I just began to pick out the ones that I wanted. They had a great variety. Then I went up to the counter and the guy took my case and flowers and arranged them beautifully. He also added some greenery and baby's breath. I should have taken a photo of it, but it was lovely. It was also pretty cheap...less than $12! I would definitely recommend this place. I'm sure they are busy around holidays. read more
