I've been going to a barber for as long as I can remember (over 35years) and I find that the haircuts that I'm given at fantastic Sams are on par with any barber that I've been to. The two hairstylists that I have the most experience with are Cindy and Peri. These two ladies are among the best here. They are both very friendly, extremely knowledgeable about different kinds of hair and hair styles and always very detailed in giving me exactly the haircut that I am looking for. Seriously, some of the most talented stylists around. I had a botched color and cut and asked for a local salon recommendation on Facebook. Multiple people said to go to Tania, a master colorist, at Fantastic Sams. Tania, Fabiola and Yoli have all given me amazing color, a super modern cut and the prices can't be beat. I even got hair extensions to bring back some fullness and length from a previous bad cut. Truly an amazing salon!!!! read more

Yikes.. This place is the worst! My wife and I took our 7 year old daughter there to get her hair trimmed and right off the bat the girl told us it would cost extra to trim her hair since it was long.. what? Isn't that why I was going there..It was a trim not a new style. I didn't really understand that but OK. The cutter didn't listen to a thing my wife said and gave our daughter (who has beautiful straight blonde hair) the worst trim we've ever seen. I really think I could have done better. Not only was the cutter's skills lacking so was customer service. For what we paid there we brought our daughter to a "real" salon and for pretty much the same price got a fabulous cut. I know that alot of people are picky about who cuts their hair and how it is cut. Admittedly I'm not quite as picky. Yeah, I'm your once a month Supercuts customer. Or at least I was. I was in a rush to go somewhere and I wanted to get my hair cut, and someone told me about Fantastic Sams in El Segundo. I had never heard of the place, "yeah, it's like supercuts" is what I was told. I went down, and my impression is that it's an upscale supercuts. I walked in, paid for a haircut, the lady offered to wash my hair for free, which is something they never offered at supercuts. Then offered suggestions on alternative ways to cut my hair-something supercuts never offered. Then offered suggestions on shampoos and gels etc-something supercuts does once in a while. So anyway, i think this is an upscale supercuts-and i've since switched to them. read more

I go here about every two weeks and just love the way Faby cuts my hair. If you ever need a clean cut with some style Faby is the one to see. She is by far the best one there for men's cuts and is much cheaper than barbers around the area. I also bring my little brother once a month and she is very patient with him even though he wiggles around. The receptionist also helps with keeping him still. went in for a simple v cut and layers. half way through I realized it was way shorter than what I asked for (I was very specific) I told them not to do the layers because it was messed up enough. when it was done, the bottom of my hair was curved while the sides were cut straight across. the sides cut straight across weren't even either! on top of all of this a few chunks of hair near the bottom were cut shorter than the layers underneath. I came in with pictures of what I wanted and didn't want but was still very disappointed. from now on I will spend the couple dollars I tried to save here and go to a professional. read more

As I'm sitting here watching my kids during mid cut grinding my teeth the woman who kept saying she understood me keeps doing what we asked her not to. Extreme language barrier issue. She's nice but has no idea what I'm saying. I let her know the kids just had their hair washed and blown out at home and to not wash again. She said okay no problem then a minute later I look over and she's washing her hair. My daughter is sitting there terrified she's going to cut her hair to short. God help me. I have been here twice. First time I got a great haircut, second time was just a horrible experience. The lady who cut my hair, kept on insisting I shouldn't cut my hair, that the 'neck was too short', the 'sides were too short'. Granted, I wanted a fairly advanced SHORT hairdo, and she insisted longer hair was better.. Her own haircut being a mess. 1.5 hours later.. I look like I've got a helmet on, and she keeps apologizing for taking so long, saying that I'll be able to achieve my desired style with 'lots of gel'.. And she proceeds to put A LOT of gel in my hair.. I don't mind gel, I used almost daily to get the 'messy' look I am used to, but she put so much of it in my hair, it looked like I hadn't washed my hair in a couple of weeks and is was sticky to the touch. I have washed my hair 3 times tonight, and it's still sticky to the touch. Am going back tomorrow to either get a refund or to get someone to fix my hair. This is horrible. read more

Got my hair cut by Curtis. Probably the best hair cut I got. My hair is very thin and fine, and Curtis gave me some tips on how to make it better. Sure enough, it already looks great and I am never using Gel again. I came to this Fantastic Sams because my other place never cut my hair short enough. Curtis spent more than 15 seconds washing my hair which is something the other place never did. Curtis actually had some style and helped me style my hair, which is something my other place never did. Curtis cut my hair SHORT like I asked him to do, and he listened. There is no such thing as a great cut from a Fantastic Sams. I have come here because it's good enough. But this one is really disorganized. People just don't know what's going on. Of the 5 times I have gotten my hair cut here I have had to go back to fix crazy lopsided issues like 3 of those times. I have had a phone answered while my hair was getting cut 3 times and recently listened to entire conversation while the lady was cutting my hair. They didn't have the product I preferred to use when styling my hair and when I asked the stylist if she could blow it dry, she just handed me the blow dryer and had me dry my own hair. It takes alot for me to complain publicly about an establishment so Congratulations Fantastic Sam's your the TOPS! Rude manager, a guy that acts as if he pays the customer to be there, no sir we pay you to be there. Get it? Probably not why else would you act like a rude employee. Bullet points. Our appointment was at 9am. We get there early at 8:45am. Store not open, which is fine we wait outside. At 8:50am A man who appears to be the manager standing 5 feet from the front door doesnt acknowledge us, not fine but not too bad, maybe its early and hes in a mood, well so am I. At 8:55am I finally knock on the door, without any hello he gives me the 5 minute hand signal. Charming so I say we have an appointment in 4 minutes can we maybe sit down. (My Client is an elderly lady so asking for a seat to rest isnt too far from appropriate Right? ) Nothing, no response at all. They let us in 5 minutes after the appointment was to begin. Only to find out they dont have the right stylist for the job. We made the appointment with the exact request as the last several appointments, its all computerized but somehow we are scheduled with someone who cant do highlights. Oh well, Maybe that manager should be replaced? He is rude, oblivious to time and cant run a shop where the appointments are correctly taken care of. read more
