I have been coming to Fantasy Nail and Hair for many years. The owner Tina, has always been very nice and professional to me and all her customers. Let's face it, she is very busy. I am very impressed by the type of work that she does on hair and nails. With Covid, her business has really been a challenge. When she reopened, the store was in full compliance and Tina takes covid very seriously. I have been supporting her business for years and really like the haircut that she gives me. Although I do not ask for anything fancy, she always gives me the type of hair cut that I asked for. Pre-Covid she has employees to help with things like Pedicures and Manicures and they did a fantastic job from what I saw. Her prices are very reasonable considering the services that are offered. DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS HERE! I came here Friday around 1:30pm to get a haircut for my 2 year old son. The lady was having lunch (she's has a bob haircut...evil eyes)....I asked when should we come back? She rolled her eyes and said ok one minute!! Long sad story short...she was extremely rude towards my son so he started resisted looking down and turning his head during the haircut. He didn't cry or scream but the lady was pushing his head around and my little guy was getting mad...she completely trimmed off his side burns and didn't even cut the hair properly before saying "done!" I understand a haircut with a 2 yr old is not as easy going as one with a 30 year old. But what the fuck! I read many of the nail comments to see if this was a good place to get my nails done. I went anyway and was not disappointed. I went on a Thursday late afternoon about 430p for a quick basic mani/pedi and was greeted by two ladies, Tina and Alice. Alice was very thorough and contentious with both my feet and hands. She was gentle with the cuticles and made sure the occasional slip over the nail was cleaned and perfect when I left. She checked in with me all steps of the way. I'd be back again. read more

Think twice before coming here for a haircut, especially if you have long hair. I went in for a trim & Tina did an absolutely horrible job on my hair!! She clearly cannot cut & style hair except for men's short hair. She did such a horrible job that I had to go to another hairstylist to get my hair fixed. The only saving grace is Tina gave me my money back. I don't think anyone should ever come here. And I question if her cosmetology license is real. I came to do an acrylic refill. On the window it says $20 for refill $25 for new set. I was charged $30. Mmmmm i think my pinky nail was sand too much because I felt the warmth when she was sanding and a bit of pain. Just had my haircut here, Lily did a great job!! I can't believe the quality haircut I received for $20! It lost a star because someone was smoking outside and the whole place smelled of smoke, and it was SUPER hot in there...If my rating was for the haircut alone it would have been a 5. Update: My husband is suuuuuuper picky when it comes to getting his haircut. He usually goes to a place in Valley Fair and pays $20 for them to shave his head. I've been going to Fantasy Nails for over 10 years and I have been happy every time I go there. Kim has been doing my hair for 10 years and I always walk out looking beautiful and feeling fabulous! I am very picky when it come to my hair and don't trust anybody except Kim. I go there every 6 months for a complete coloring, highlights and haircut. It's a all day process on my hair ( I like the platinum bleach) but I have to say it's worth every minute for the work that Kim does on my hair. Kim sets the bar high when it comes to haircuts and highlights!!! I refer Kim to all my friends and they loved it! When my wife [el Jefe] was a school Principal in Sacto, she had a lot of Hmong students in her school. When we moved here one of her student's parents recommended Tina to her. So Tina started cutting my wife's hair. El Jefe's been going back to her ever since, and Tina always does a good job with her hair (El Jefe is Swedish with thin, wispy blond hair. It's not so easy to work on). When we moved here I started using a local barber too, but he passed away. So I needed to find a new barber. El Jefe recommended Tina. I didn't really want to go to a beauty salon. But the boss is usually right. Tina's been cutting my hair for the past eight years now. And a haircut is only $8! My barber was charging $17, and just just before he expired he raised it to $20. (Karma ...? I report; you decide). I'm very happy with Tina's haircuts. She's as good as anyone I've used in the past, and better than most. And she's FAST. I like fast. I think most guys want to get their hair cut ASAP, then skedaddle. We have better things to do, like watching sports. Not that keeping your head groomed isn't important at times. Most times, even. On top of the $8 Tina charges I tip another $5. Even with a tip her haircuts are less expensive than at most barber shops. Great haircut. Inexpensive. What's not to like? Check out Tina. And don't worry about it being a beauty salon, since there are almost always other guys waiting for a haircut. They provide mutual support in enemy territory. PS: I suspect the few bad reviews here were written by competitors. For example, one reviewer said Tina's haircuts are getting worse. That makes no sense. Once someone is good at cutting hair, they almost always improve. But they never get worse! When I was in Viet Nam (some time after the Civil War), I was the barber for the guys in my outfit. A haircut in town was 25¢. But in the '60's a quarter was a lot of money, especially for guys who got paid $124/mo. That's because a quarter was real silver. Its buying power was ±10X more than it is now. Plenty of guys didn't want to pay that 25¢ if there was a free alternative. And there was. Me. They got a free haircut, worth every penny it cost them. And I learned how to recognize a good job. My haircuts didn't have to be perfect, and they weren't. Far from it. But I know what to look for in a man's haircut, and IMHO Tina does a great job. I can't see any difference between her haircuts and one you might pay $20 or more for. So have Tina mow yer noggin, guys. She'll do a great job -- and you'll have money left over for important things, like ammo, likker, and women. Or, you could even waste your money. And if you don't like the result, don't worry. I got my hair cut here yesterday and I love my new cut! For $30.00, you get your hair washed, cut, blow dried, and flat ironed. I don't know if they charge extra for other styling methods or not. The lady who cut my hair was Tiffany and she was fast and good. I asked her how long it'd take and she said an hour. Well, I was out of there an hour afterwards! You can just walk in but it's probably better to make an appointment. They also do nails and waxing here. They do a good job on manicures to, but their waxing treatment is painful, at least it is for me, so I go elsewhere for my waxing needs. Haircuts for men is only $8.00. I've been coming here once every 1-2 months for at least a year. I usually get my hair cut by Tina. (She's simply who they usually assign to me whenever I come, so I actually don't mind who I get.) Haircuts for men are $8, which half of Supercuts' prices but about the same as other Asian salons nearby. Though the quality is much better. The haircut usually lasts about 20 minutes, and I've noticed that they usually spend much more time on my hair than anyone else at other nearby hair salons of similar prices. I always come here. I have searched high and low for a salon the offers better prices for what they give you and I can't find one. They always make a spot for me and they are friendly and accommodating. You won't find a spa atmosphere here but it is worth the trade off for all you do get. They do have spa pedicures and they include the massage and hot towel in the price. They don't try to up sell you which is nice. Again, decent nails, good price! read more

This place is cheap and friendly staff. Not very great at speaking English but that doesn't stop Tina from doing exactly what I want every time. Some times when It's under staffed I find myself waiting for a hair wash for 2 hours and I end up not finishing a hair dye until maybe 6 or 7 hours later. However this place gets pretty decent business. The waxing service is also good. They are quick and efficient. I haven't gotten my nails done here yet, however many people come in to get different services and seem quite happy when they leave. Roommate suggested this place as it is only walking distance from her work, not so much by mine but it is by our apartment. Was very skeptical about the prices that she mentioned, and especially wasn't sure how the quality of the final product would end up like since I was in a pinch for time. Needless to say I called to reserve a time slot right after work and got there 10 mins late (5o'clock traffic) and they were still able to help me. In fact they knew I was their 530 appointment even though the place was packed. Mani-Pedi for $25, paid $5 for each lady who helped so out of the door at $35 and two days later my nails still look like I just got them done. The only reason I would not give it 5 stars is because I don't like the color selection they have, not to mention the brands they used. Next time I will bring my own! Let me start off by saying i am VERY picky when it comes to my nails. When I leave a nail salon I don't expect my nails to only look perfect, I expect them to feel perfect. I have been going to this salon for over 10 years now, and I NEVER leave disappointed. No, it is not a perfect looking place...it is your typical hole in the wall nail salon in San Jose...but their work is like no other salon. I get my hair and nails done here often. I LOVE it. Not only can you get a haircut for $15, but it's a quality haircut. For me personally, getting a haircut is a pain in the butt because I have a lot of hair...I'm talking about THICK THICK THICK hair. I've been coming here for the past 3 or 4 years, and Kim always cuts my hair. I've never had a bad experience. She literally spends 2 hours on my hair, and at times has even sent me home and told me to come back the next day so that she can give me a proper haircut. As a girl who has tried out numerous hair salons, all the way from super upscale $100 haircuts, down to the cheap cuts you get at Supercuts...I have to admit that I'm a fan of Fantasy Hair Nails and Kim, especially. I've had numerous haircuts in my lifetime, and this place gives me the best haircuts ever. I have the type of hair that you can tell when it's been cut since it's so thick, but when Kim cuts my hair not only can you not tell that I've gotten a hair cut (which I LOVE!), but it's a really high quality haircut! I was recommended to come here by the ladies at my nail salon and its an ok place. It's a small place and is always somewhat busy. Not an upscale place kinda ghetto.There were so many people there and I was not comfortable. I went recently on a weekday late kinda it was better. I have never gotten my nails done there. So as far as my hair cuts go I love them. I have had penny and kim do my hair and I loved how it came out both times. I only spent $70 for cut and partial highlights. Usually I just get a fill and a pedicure, which are always beautiful and long-lasting. I have moved all over the bay area but always wait to get anything done until I visit my parents in Campbell because I have been disappointed at too many other places. On occasion, like for a concert, I get my make-up done and hair styled. I fell in love with this place when I got all of this done one evening and within two seconds of stepping outside I got a compliment from a random lady who apologized for staring but said it was refreshing to see such a pretty woman. I grew up a tomboy and rarely hear such a genuinely nice statement. As for eyebrows, usually the beautiful Nancy does them and they always come out perfect. With such talented people, one would think the prices would be higher, but whose complaining? I usually go to their salon for only get my hair wash and blow dry. I have a curly hair but sometime I want to have it straight... I got my nails done there only once like a year ago and I didn't like the way that they made my nails done so I decide to get only my hair done. The hair wash station is small and it is next to the wax room and kitchen, it's wired. However the price very cheap, I got my hair wash and blow dry straight for 20 bucks. I had a mani-pedi at Fantasy this weekend. The hair stylist chairs were very busy! The pedi chairs really could use to be updated and it just didn't seem clean enough for my standards. The woman who did my pedi was fantastic. Clearly someone who takes great pride in her work , she spent a long time working on my toes. The mani was ok , but not great. My Mom gets her hair done here. I have too and I think they do better short hair, my hair is really long and my Moms is ear length. They do an ok job on her, for me, I was not impressed at all. That was about a year ago. This time I came to do my nails, switching from Paris Nails on Saratoga and Payne. The lady who does everyone's hair on all thr reviews did my nails. Walked in for a mani/pedi. Unfortunately I can't say I'll be coming back here. Was able to get service right away but took about 85 minutes since only one girl did both my hands and feet. It's nice when they have two ladies doing it at the same time to get you in and out. I asked her to cut my toe nails shorter and she didn't speak a word of English so I ended up having just as long of toe nails when I left as I did when I walked in. And I don't mean to be rude (I'm Asian btw) but for a job like that I think it's important to know some basic words, especially because customers have a lot of requests in an industry like that. Honestly with just that stuff I wouldn't have cared that much- but the woman filed down the tops of my nails like you would do with acrylic nails. I do have really long, naturally strong nails that I've grown out over the year and are now paper thin and keep bending. I expect them to snap in half any day now. When she was massaging my hands she also bent my pinky nail all the way back because they were so thin and shaved down. It hurt like hell too when that happened. Anyways, good prices but I'd rather pay double for my nails to be back to how they were. Will probably take a good half a year for them to grow out and grow past the shaved down thin nail :-/ whatever they're just nails. Just can't come back to this place. They were nice on the plus side! UPDATE 6 days after experience: When wrapping Christmas presents 3 of my nails have snapped back and crack in the middle. Had to cut all of my nails short since they wouldn't stop bending. They are so paper thin now I'm pretty pissed. Even with how short I cut them, some are still bending because she got a file and filed down the tops of all of my nails. I ca't believe how thin they are now. My natural nails looked fake that's how nice they looked before I came here to "treat" myself for a mani/pedi. I will now have to keep cutting them short until the entire nail has grown out that she touched. My GFs and I plus my mom gave this place three tries. They like the pedicures by Tammy only, but that's it. The first time they were very conscientious and attentive. Then each time it got worse. They didn't listen - I like oval nails, I got square. I wanted more pumice done on my feet and asked to skip the massage so she could concentrate on that. She just skipped the massage so I got a 15 mins pedicure for the same price! My mom brought in photos of her own asymetrical haircut to show how it is supposed to look when just cut, they just gave her a very basic man-cut. She was mortified! They work so fast, they like to get you done in 1/2 hour. The last time, even though the place was empty, they rushed. I got burned with the dremel tool and my nails were uneven. They don't even take time to remove the polish that they get on your cuticles. Beware, you get what you pay for. The pedicure is $16 and single fill with polish is $18. read more

I fully recommend Fantasy without hesitation. They have great prices for hair and nails! Really it's a bargain and the quality is great. I just had a hair cut. I am very picky and I had a lot of things I wanted Kim to do to my hair. She listened to all of my wants and she executed perfectly. They have new nail artists too which is great because going to most nail bars is expensive if you want to do more to your nails than just a solid coat. At fantasy you can get so much done on your nails without the overpricing of other nail bars. Both my mom, aunt, grandma and I go to Fantasy for our hair and nails.
