First I want to say this is a beautiful nail salon. The staff is very friendly and they were able to take walk ins. But unfortunately my nails do not look great. I had come in for a basic manicure because I wanted to give my nails a rest from gel. The technician kept pushing gel, even though I said why I wanted just a basic manicure. She even brought the gel sample folder out and when I picked a color she said "Oh that's gel". I felt like I had no choice but to go with gel. This wasn't in my budget. Now this part is on me because I should have just got up and left. But I needed my nails done for an event. So I relented to gel just to get moving with the appointment. I'm not sure if this is what managers are telling staff to do, but it's very uncomfortable and I won't be back. I asked the technician to file my nails all evenly and that I was growing them out, but just to even them out. Some of my nails are longer than others and had to fix this at home. She also left gel residue around the nail beds in both color and the clear. At one point she spilled gel on my finger and instead of wiping it, let it dry and had to peel it off at the end. I've never had that happen before, so it was a bit strange. I think providing staff with additional training would be a good solution so this does not happen again. Paying was uncomfortable because it was much more than I had wanted to spend. Unfortunately, I can't recommend going to this salon :( read more

I went to Mood Nail Lounge in Campbell for a pedicure and expected a higher level of care, especially since they charge premium prices. During the pedicure, shortly after my nails were trimmed, my pinky toe started burning and felt like it had been cut. The technician sprayed my feet afterward, which made the burning worse. At the time, I couldn't clearly see whether I was bleeding, and when I tried to check my toe, the technician told me not to look or touch it. I let it go in the moment, but the next morning my toe was sore and I could clearly see a small cut near the nail area. I understand accidents can happen, but technicians need to be more careful, especially when using tools around the skin and nails. Customers should not leave a pedicure worried about cuts, soreness, or possible infection. At a nicer salon charging premium prices, I expected better care, better communication, and more professionalism when something like this happens. I'm disappointed with the experience and hope management takes this seriously with staff training and proper handling when a customer says something is burning or painful. read more

Mood Nails, I gave you ample opportunities to stop me from posting this but you chose to completely ignore my attempts to have a conversation about this so here we are. I unfortunately came here 2 days before a big trip. I opted into a gel manicure and pedicure and I paid a fortune for it (their prices are no joke). Within ONE DAY the gel was chipping. These were my nails SIX DAYS IN. As you can see in the photos I had to take while on vacation, the "gel" is chipping all over and since my cuticles were never even pushed back before application, it looks like I have at least a month's worth of growth. Shortly after this picture, a whole nail's worth of this "gel" literally FELL OFF my fingernail so I had to sit there on vacation and peel the rest of the gel off so that I don't look weird with only 4 nails painted on one hand. It took me like 30 seconds to peel off all the gel because they were coming off easier than stickers. My nails would've lasted longer if I painted them at home. When I got back from my trip, I used their "Contact Us" form through their website- they never even bothered to answer. I came into their office a week later asking for a refund and I was told that they would ask the owner to contact me. 2 weeks later and still nothing. Don't come here. read more

I've been here twice and had a great experience the first time, but meh the second time so I won't be back unfortunately. The pros: really nice ambiance, apparently they provide champagne in addition to water/other drinks, the front desk staff are very nice and friendly. My initial set of gel nails + regular pedicure were good, no complaints. The second time I just got a gel manicure and was quite disappointed. Right after the manicure some of my fingertips were throbbing/felt weird and the nail tech nicked one of my other fingers so it was a little swollen/bleeding. Then 4 days after the manicure my nails started to chip. I've never had a gel manicure chip within the 1st week so it was pretty annoying. I messaged them on their website since they were closed when I noticed, and asked if I could come in for a redo, but they never responded. I was pretty busy the rest of the week so wasn't really able to pop in, anyway. Over the next week most of my nails started to lift/bubble up which was pretty annoying. read more

She looked at my inspo photo once and somehow my nails came out even better than the picture. I'm not exaggerating when I say I've never had my nails done this perfectly. Two of the staff were checking the shape, color match, and details to make sure everything was flawless. I felt like my nails were getting VIP treatment. It was such a luxury experience from start to finish, and I walked out obsessed. I already booked my next fill because there is absolutely no way I'm letting anyone else touch my nails now. The good : I used to enjoy this spot for pedicures. For simple polish and gel this is great; and their vibe is immaculate. They always offer drinks when you arrive & have lots of tables and chairs for customers/ large parties. The not so good In terms of my most recent experiences I arrived with gel nails from Japan and asked if they are able to remove or work with soft/hard gel materials. The team stated they can- a bit concerned as the removal was painful and the manicure was not pleasant. They have a rough approach to cleaning the cuticle using the drill bit on the nails - the nails were soaked with Acetone (which didn't really work for the nails) and then buffed, then soaked again, then buffed. By the time the gel was removed my nails were sensitive :( I don't recommend coming here if you're getting Japanese gel removed. Find someone who specializes in this. It's fine to get the job done but the style of manicures is using soak, drill bit and scraping. I just got a basic gel job done but even that ended up being unevenness for my manicure. The technician also used her own nails to clean the bed under my nail. Not super sanitary and felt rough. I'm likely not going to return here likely for manicures, maybe I will consider pedicures. I'm just not a fan of the rough manicures with pulling of your arms once out of the lamp. The color came out albeit a bit uneven but was glad the surface concluded. read more

This review is long overdue. Let me preface by saying I have been going to Mood Nail Lounge in Campbell for over a year now and their quality of work is some of the best I have experienced. With that being said, their customer service and treatment of loyal clients need major improvement. On March 3rd I went in to see my regular tech Thy, for what would be my last appointment before giving birth to my son. Any pregnant/postpartum mamas know that your last nail appointment before birth and your first appointment back from giving birth are big deals. It's our only time away and something nice we do for ourselves. Anyways, I don't know how it happened, but in the middle of getting my nails done Thy drops the whole bowl of dirty cuticle water right onto my lap. There was water everywhere. My leg was soaked, my butt was soaked, the bottom half of my sweater was soaked, the chair was all wet and the floor too. I jumped up due to the intensity of the bowl dropping into my lap. Immediately I was met with thousands of "sorrys" but instead of rags they gave me tissue paper?! Yes, the small little boxed tissue papers, and not even a whole box worth. I had to ask Thy for a rag just to clean my seat. She then tried to continue with the service, but I asked her how am I suppose to sit comfortably while soaking wet and now smelly when we just started and I also had to sit through a pedicure after! I actually had to call my boyfriend (who was busy with our 2 year old) to stop what he was doing and bring me pants from home. On top of this, remember I am hormonal, 9 months pregnant and barely managed to squeeze in time for myself to make this appointment in the first place. Now I had to change in their public bathroom alone with my big belly. I went through with my services because I had only this dedicated time, sure that they would give a loyal client like me a discount or something. Well once I finished and got to the front, the desk lady (short, hair always in a low ponytail or bun and has glasses) charged me full price, when I asked for a discount she told me "Well what am I suppose to do? It wasn't that bad." It wasn't until she saw my disappointment that she gave me a whole TEN PERCENT off. That wasn't even the whole amount of taxes. Needless to say I was livid. I was put through something that was not only time consuming but also embarrassing! Then I get spoken to in a condescending manor on top of it. That's when I decided to never return. The second time, I only did a gel pedicure. The salon itself is so clean and well-lit. They always offer me a snack and drink when I come in, but I usually have my water bottle with me. The first time I came in, I had an appointment. They were able to take me almost immediately after I checked in. The second time I came in was on a whim during the week. When I walked in, there were plenty of chairs available, and a technician was available to take me right away. There was very little attention given to my heels, and they were barely scrubbed. Booked a 5:15 builder mani and pedicure. Took me on time for pedicure (great and done by Amy) but the manicure started 40 min late. My nails were 4 weeks grown out, plenty to work with. Thy (manicurist) somehow cut my skin with a dirty nail file, made all my nails are different lengths, and made them all different shapes (including being uneven from side to side). To say shocked is an understatement. When I told her I was bleeding she put something on my finger without my consent. The receptionist asked me how it was but then Thy came up and said something in their language, then never followed up. I paid and left. I called to ask for a refund, she said she noticed I was upset but couldn't give me a refund, the name of any managers, or anything. She said I can get it fixed by a manager (she finally gave the name Krystal). I asked for Thy's last name and was told she didn't know it. I said it should be on her license and she said that they don't have those to see. CA state law requires it showing. 12 hours later - one of my nails is already lifting away from the builder. Very sad to write this review as I have been going to Mood Nail Campbell for the past few years. I have had amazing service from Emily, Annie, Helen, Hannah and most recently Brian. Today I went in for a nail fix as I just had my nails done over the weekend but noticed a chip. I think it was the owner that was working the front desk. I explained what happened and after a short wait I was given Kathy for the repair. I showed her the issue and while doing that I noticed a few more chips on the edges of 3 other nails. I showed her and she proceeded to just file it down, so much that she was filing my skin and I had to tell her to stop, she then aggressively twisted my fingers several times so she could see the job at eye level. After filing the nails she told me it was now fine. I explained that there is still a chip on the pointer nail but she seemed frustrated. I think honestly it may have been because it was already 7pm and close to closing? Not sure, but I have never had that type of service before. Kathy may be able to do great nails but for whatever reason she seemed upset to have to fix mine and ultimately did not fix them, now 3 nails are just sanded down to the nub.
