Lighting: Our feel for our wedding was very clean, simple and romantic. We loved our venue the way it was (Palm Event Center, Pleasanton) but wanted to add our touches. We as a couple always imagined a dance floor with lanterns. I must admit, from time to time, I was worried about how it would turn out...but they did an amazing job of not over-doing it and changing the sizes of the lanterns. We also used them for the GOBO splash of our names....it was the perfect touch and they suggested it on the dance floor, which came out nicely. DJ: We had shopped around for a DJ and noticed all the great reviews on yelp and facebook. Our venue required the DJ to be the MC as well, so we knew it was important to find the right one. FSEE has a DJ meet and greet which gives you the opportunity to talk with the DJ's and make your choice. We chose NIck and he was AWESOME!! Not only did he play music from our playlist/genre, he was an engaging MC and very organized. One element to your wedding is the DJ/MC...if you have the right one, you don't worry about how things will flow. Nick also worked with us on song selection and music entrances. My husband wanted our entrance a certain way with songs and Nick fulfilled!!! I would also like to add that this vendor is professional! They keep you on track for deadlines and very responsive! After meeting with Fantasy Sound Event Services, I now appreciate every lighting detail at weddings I go to. Every. Single. Light bulb. I first looked into FSE because they've done a lot of events for our wedding venue. Their variety of signature lighting includes several chandeliers that range from grand and elegant to simple and rustic. They also do market lights, uplights, custom monogram lights, GOBO lighting (the ones in patterns), as well as other wedding services such as drapery, backdrops, DJ, photo booths, and projector/screen rentals. While their website doesn't include the full catalog, they did send me comprehensive PDF's which included an idea for the pricing once I submitted an event inquiry. We met Kevin at our appointment, which was exceptionally informative and well organized as we discussed the options and compiled the quote. They have lots of options for customization. I contemplated lanterns and they could customize to whatever we wanted. (Apparently they had even acquired neon green lanterns for an 80's themed event before) When we got to the uplights, Kevin handed us a stack of options available and the available colors were as extensive as paint chips. Their GOBO lighting also comes in many patterns, and Kevin had insightful input on how to select and mix the patterns. I'm always in awe at all the photos because the lighting really does transform the space. The quote and draft contract are detailed and break everything down. I also like how they were not pushy. Unlike some other vendors, it's actually a relief not to get follow-up emails that make you feel guilty for not immediately booking. FSE is awesome, but ultimately we are likely not booking with them because the price is hefty. I don't think it's completely unreasonable given the labor costs with mounting these large heavy chandeliers high up on the ceiling. I would probably be more inclined to consider FSE if they had packages for discounts on going all out and the ease of a one-stop-shop. In any case, I have gained an immense appreciation for lighting at weddings. read more

We hired Fantasy Sound Event Services shortly after becoming engaged. Besides all of the fantastic reviews that we had come across on several platforms, the fact that they were ever so accommodating was a huge benefit for us in making the huge decision to entrust FSE with our dreams and hopes for a fabulous wedding day. A contract was drafted, but of course, I made several additions within the next 16 months. Remember: You can always add on but you cannot take away! That being said, be sure to really know your vision. In the end, we contracted the following with FSE: DJ Nick, Ceremony Music, Reception Music and MC-ing, Photo Booth with unlimited print-outs for our guests and a "Green Shrub Backdrop" (GUYS- DO THIS IT MAKES A WOLRD OF DIFFERENCE!), 3 backdrop wood walls with our "C&P" letters on it, uplighting, cake spot, and custom monogram lighting on the floor for our huge ceremony space, and we also transformed our ceremony space into a kid's play area where we had contracted from FSE a screen, projector, and a speaker for movies and video games for the kids during the reception. The administrative staff was so fabulous with their kindness and communications. They were quick and polite with all my crazy questions- some of which I'm sure I asked twice! Nick, our DJ, was so great and accommodating for our two meetings regarding which songs we wanted, didn't want, etc. It was clear that his goal was to make sure we were happy, and boy was that met x-infinity! My husband and I had such a great time, and with the help of FSE they truly brought our vision to life. About a week or so after the wedding, we received a piece of mail from FSE which enclosed a thank you note (No, THANK YOU!), a USB drive of every single photo taken at our photo booth, and our custom made monogram piece. They made what they claimed to be a "business decision" to keep our deposit without rendering any services. I used FSES for event lighting and customized gobos for my wedding on 9/5/09 at Casa Real. In terms of lighting, everything turned out exactly as described. A person from FSES contacted me a few weeks before the wedding to proof the gobo design (our names and the date) and the lighting inside the Amber room was excellent. I used Fantasy Sound for their videography and they were so great! At first my fiance was unsure about getting a wedding video, bur we decided to go for it and it is one of the best decisions we made! I met with them a couple times and they showed us some sample videos, and gave lots of details on what is included. We had about 6 hours of video, and 2 videographers. Before the wedding they were very responsive and helpful with any questions that I had. We worked with Kevin, Nick and Brendan during the planning process. They were all extremely knowledgeable and professional every step of the way. On the day-of the wedding, Brendan was our lead videographer and did a great job! He arrived right on time, and got straight to work getting detail shots. He also helped direct me on some poses for the video before the wedding. He was great about checking in with me, and make sure he said goodbye before he left. I felt like he really knew what he was doing, and was completely sure that he would get all of the shots I wanted! I was so surprised by how quickly we got our wedding video back! We got a highlight video as well as the full ceremony, introductions, toasts, special dances, details, and other shots in between the events. I had a couple small changes I wanted to make to the original highlight video, and he made the changes very quickly. I found that there wasn't much I wanted to change, the initial video was so great! We have already watched our video so many times, and I am so grateful that we have these memories to look back on. There were so many small things that we didn't see or missed on the wedding day, I am so happy that we are able to watch them. If you are unsure about getting a video, DO IT! It was so worth it. The 12 foot by 12 foot chandelier framed the dance floor perfectly, and added just the right amount of sparkle. Our decor was simple and the chandelier added that wow factor. We used white light because we wanted to brighten up the ballroom a bit, and it was perfect for us. Fantasy did our wedding lighting at the Palm Event Center at the end of August. We asked for large, multi-sized/multi-height paper lanterns to be hung throughout the room. My initial vision was for all of the lanterns to be lit and for the entire ceiling grid to be filled. I was a little uncomfortable at first because Nick said they had never done anything like this before, but recommended that we do not fill the entire ceiling grid and not put a light in every single lantern as it would make the room too bright. After some discussion, we met halfway and agreed to more lanterns than he recommended and only half of them with lights inside. When I arrived on the day of my wedding, the room looked beautiful. The lanterns were hung at varying heights as I envisioned, creating the feel of lanterns floating upward. The lanterns also looked beautiful in the photos, both in the professional shots as well as shots taken by family and friends. Nick and the Fantasy Team were professional and easy to work with. Their office space was comfortable, and their ability to process payment over the phone and signatures online was very convenient. I definitely recommend them if you're planning a wedding in the TriValley area, especially at Casa Real or the Palm Event Center (they're a preferred vendor). And I definitely recommend them over Hartmann, the other vendor we were considering. Hartmann was impersonal and not responsive in a timely manner. FSE was recommended to us by the Palm Event Center. We rented the 12x12 chandelier and various spot lights for the cake and sweetheart table at our wedding on 1/26/18. We used Fantasy Sound for lighting at our September wedding at Palm Event Center. We were very happy with all of our vendors, but Fantasy let us down. We chose to hang market lights and select spotlights for our reception - the lighting itself turned out great. Fantasy was responsive and easy to work with leading up to the event. However, we were very disappointed with the cleanup crew. By the time PEC turned on the regular lights (11 pm on the dot), they were already standing in the cherry picker in the reception area. I understand that it's late and they need to get stuff down, but the last song had literally just ended and people were still on the dance floor - us included!! I was totally embarrassed - that's just so tacky. They actually began taking the strings of lights down while our guests were still gathering their belongings - I seriously thought someone was going to get knocked in the head by one of the strings. We certainly didn't let it ruin our night, but I did feel this was worth a yelp review to give others a heads up. :/ read more

We used Fantasy Sound for our wedding at Casa Real Winery in September 2010. Kevin sold us on a package deal which we thought was pretty sweet. The day of the wedding we thought that the music was played at a very low volume and kept having to ask them to turn it up a bit. Kevin was our DJ at the wedding and was very friendly, don't get me wrong, but the services could have been better. I think with him being the DJ he's a bit more costly than the other DJ's there, just FYI. Not sure why, but he is! The lighting was absolutely gorgeous...I have to admit, they did a wonderful job on that. Beautiful! The video... I do NOT recommend booking them for video for day of wedding. We received our video after many emails back and forth with what features to include and what to cut out, voice overs - no voice overs, and just a bunch of things that I did not like. The list goes on. Anyways, so we finally receive our wedding video and thought , not really what we expected and thought with the money we paid, we could have received better. Oh well, live and learn! There was nothing special about the video at all, it was just blah! Also, another thing that disapppointed me was they told me they would be in the office on a weekend one day for me to come and pick up some stuff and we drove from Hayward to Livermore, only to find out they were closed and no one was in the office. I had to leave them a message and they called to apologize and ended up sending us our stuff in the mail. Why couldn't they have done that to begin with it would have saved us a trip? It was definitely an inconvenience for us. If you are thinking of booking, I would say definitely go for the lighting. read more

We got married at the Palm Event Center in September 2016. Fantasy Sound is one of Palm Event Center's preferred vendors. We used them for DJ, lighting, and photobooth services. Working with Fantasy Sound is a very professional experience. From email communications with Darcie, to meet ups with the DJ and lighting representatives, everything is handled professionally. DJ - we had Steve as our emcee and DJ for our wedding. Steve is great to work with - he is very upbeat, personable, and has a great knowledge of music. He executed the wedding very well and kept the dancing lively throughout the reception. Lighting - we added a lot of lighting in the ceremony and reception rooms. Our main piece of lighting was the chandelier in the reception. We added the 12 x 12 and 9 x 9 chandeliers. Our guests were amazed by the chandeliers and said that this really made the room stand out. Photobooth - we had the photobooth from 6 to 11 p.m. We were glad we had five hours because our guests were in it the whole night! A few days after our event, we received a USB with all of the photos. That was a nice surprise as we could see all of our guests' pictures. Overall, Fantasy Sound is a first-class organization. Earlier in our planning our photographer gave us his #1 tip which was, 'lighting is everything!' but we weren't really sure if we had any money in our budget. Fortunately, FS offers a great deal for Cada Real couples which is you could 'share' lighting with another couple if they are getting married on the same weekend and split the costs! Luckily the other bride getting married on Sunday was all for it so things worked out perfectly! We had cake and table spotlights, colored uplights against the wall to set the ambience, and even staggered the table lights for a great effect. PLUS, my in-laws secretly worked with FS to have our names in lights above our ceremony! It was the best kept secret of the day and actually triggered my tears of happiness as I walked down the aisle :) BOTTOM LINE: Easy, reliable, and reasonable vendor choice for any special occasion. read more

We hired Fantasy sound to do our lighting, photo booth, and DJ for our April wedding. The lighting turned out great, but this review is mostly for Steve, our awesome DJ. We were unfortunate to have our venue's power go out after dinner due to a nearby accident. That resulted in no lights, photo booth, or music. The party for sure would have ended if it wasn't for Steve. He went above and beyond and used his own car battery to power up the sound system and continue playing music for the rest of the night. Due to Covid and unforeseen circumstances, Kevin the owner absolutely could care less. This company was the only vendor that would not offer us any type of refund due to Covid. Even explaining the situation we were having on top of Covid, Kevin felt for a 30 min meeting and typing up an initial contract was worth it to keep a $500 deposit. He wasn't interested in refunding any part of it. He didn't even care that any negative Yelp reviews would matter. He felt they had good customer service and were a kind business. I'm sure his small business government loan came in handy too. So I would recommend you book elsewhere. There are plenty of others, maybe Amos Productions? Nick was our consultant and DJ for our April 2012 wedding at Casa Real. He was very friendly and to the point with both their DJ and lighting packages. Considering they are CR's preferred vendor, I was pleasantly surprised that the packages they offered were not outrageous. We opted to use a pattern for our dance floor and spot lights on our taller floral arrangements and it really helped add something special to the room. As a DJ - Nick was fantastic! We had a pretty big bridal party (18 including Bride & Groom) and Nick asserted himself to get everyone's attention and got our rowdy group lined up for introductions and speeches without a hitch. The entire evening flowed and he matched the music to the mood of the crowd. We had discussed not allowing certain requests, but he was able to feel out the vibe in the room and kept people out on the dance floor. So many of our guests LOVED the music selections and were happy they took some requests for our older guests as well. He's definitely a DJ you can trust. Lindsay in their front office was always patient and responsive when I had payment or timing questions as well. Fantasy Sound is a very well managed group and is a definite must if you are getting married at Casa Real or Palm Event Center! read more
