He kept things flowing and played a great mix of songs. He did everything we asked - like shortening songs and not playing the standard "cheesy" songs we did not want played at our wedding. We hired Fantasy sound to do our lighting, photo booth, and DJ for our April wedding. The lighting turned out great, but this review is mostly for Steve, our awesome DJ. We were unfortunate to have our venue's power go out after dinner due to a nearby accident. That resulted in no lights, photo booth, or music. The party for sure would have ended if it wasn't for Steve. He went above and beyond and used his own car battery to power up the sound system and continue playing music for the rest of the night. I would leave a big NO star if I could. As others have stated, due to Covid and all the unknown, they will not refund you any percentage of your initial deposit. Due to Covid and unforeseen circumstances, Kevin the owner absolutely could care less. This company was the only vendor that would not offer us any type of refund due to Covid. Even explaining the situation we were having on top of Covid, Kevin felt for a 30 min meeting and typing up an initial contract was worth it to keep a $500 deposit. He wasn't interested in refunding any part of it. He didn't even care that any negative Yelp reviews would matter. He felt they had good customer service and were a kind business. I'm sure his small business government loan came in handy too. So I would recommend you book elsewhere. There are plenty of others, maybe Amos Productions? They knew exactly what questions to ask us to ensure that we left no stone unturned throughout the planning process, and were clear about what steps we needed to take in order to ensure they did their job well. We were so glad that the pre-planning packet contained all the materials that it did, because it made for a smooth wedding and timeline on the day of. A lot of little changes and adjustments were made to our timeline in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and Nick/Lindsay were wonderful in ensuring that everyone was on the same page. They even provide a comprehensive list of music that is commonly played at weddings so you don't need to hunt and peck for your own music if you don't want to! We got so many compliments for our music selection, but really all we did was go through the Fantasy Sound recommended songs, highlighted the songs we liked in yellow, and highlighted the songs we absolutely did not want in red. We also added a few songs here and there. Based on that alone, Nick put together a wonderful playlist that all of our friends and family enjoyed. The photo booth was a hit. We wanted an open photo booth so people wouldn't have to cram into a small space. I loved how there was a photo booth attendant to help and make sure that all of the inebriated individuals didn't break something, inadvertently walk off with a prop, and push the button to take the picture. We hired Fantasy Sound to do the lighting for our October 23, 2010 wedding. My new husband thought that it was an unnecessary splurge, but trust me when I say it "made" our wedding. Our wedding took place at a large winery, and included a 300+ person guestlist, but we still wanted it to feel small and intimate. We met with Kevin and selected warm, amber uplighting for the various rooms and a gobo dance floor wash of branch-y trees. The overall effect was warm and elegant. Kevin was even nice enough to come to our rescue with some extra lighting for one of the indoor rooms when a freak October rainstorm ruined our plans for an outdoor wedding. Everyone was amazed by the wall projections of the same branch-y trees in our ceremony space, and commented that "it felt like October" inside of our wedding venue. We used Nick for DJ services for our wedding in February. After talking with Amos productions, we set up an appointment with Fantasy Sound. One of the easiest decisions of our wedding was choosing our DJ. As soon as we met Nick there was an instant feeling of ease. He has a relaxed communicative personality. We wanted someone who could help orchestrate the day but not be too overbearing in personality. We were worried about the crowd have such different age ranges. Okay, I am going to start with the good and work my way into the frustrating. First, HIRE STEVE AS YOUR DJ! This is essential. Steve is an absolute angel and I wish he was my best friend. He truly listens and cares about what you have to say and what you want. I would have given this review 5-stars if it was only for Steve, the music at my wedding was PERFECT. He knows how to read a room and incorporate what you said you wanted with the energy at the event. He is also a FAB MC. You will have absolutely nothing to worry about if you put your music and MC'ing in the capable hands of Steve. He was the highlight of FS. We hired FS for DJ, lighting, video, draping, and photo booth. Everything turned out perfectly and went off without a hitch. You can have full confidence in FS for all of the above mentioned, especially if you are getting married at Palm Event Center, as I did. They have been to that venue so many times they know everything like the back of their hand. Now, the frustrating. I was immediately given a bad taste in my mouth during our first meeting at FS. One of my questions was about the music (this meeting was NOT with Steve). We had no children at our wedding, and my husband and I are big listeners of hip hop and rap. I asked about their ability to play this kind of music and was met with complete judgement and was reminded that this is a wedding and the music needs to match the event and be "respectful". I'm sorry but especially with these prices, I don't need to be shamed and told what kind of music my own event needs to be given. All I wanted to confirm is that we aren't going to be stuck listening to top 40 songs all night. As I said, Steve worked hard to make sure the wedding music was perfect, and it was. My final and biggest frustration is with the video. The guy who did the video (forget his name) was awesome and super nice! He did a great job and I love our video, but it took us SIX MONTHS to receive. They quoted us 4-6 months, which is outrageous in itself (which I did not know when signing contract, I thought that was a normal turn around time). How come every single person I know that got married last year had their video back to them within 4-weeks and mine takes six months? It is crazy, especially since FS is insane expensive. Just be aware that when they say 4-6 months, they mean six. Also, before we signed contracts, we were told we would be sent a "teaser" video. Well, come to find out, that teaser being sent is at the discretion of the person making our video, and we never got one. When I reached out an asked for one, they responded saying it wasn't a "guarantee", which really sucked since I wasn't going to be receiving my video for six months. Probably should be consistent in communicating that with other brides. All in all, FS is a safe bet to go with and was good experience. I changed a lot of things over the year before the wedding, and they were able to accommodate (as long as the price didn't decrease). Go with Steve for your DJ, I can absolutely guarantee you wont be disappointed. If you are a bride that doesn't want to wait 6 months for your video, though, explore other options for that portion. read more

Fantasy sound was such a pleasure to work with; amazingly professional and so, so friendly! For our wedding, we rented the market lights that were set up in a tent shape over the center of the dancefloor, market lights dripping from the ceiling on either side of our sweetheart table, while also having a wooden beam with Edison bulbs hanging right above my new hubby and I. They respond very quickly in regards to appointment times, invoices, or any questions you may have. When you make an appointment, they show slideshows of different options they provide. They are expensive, but are upright and honest with their pricing ahead of time. We ended up choosing hanging market lights in addition to edison bulbs, and they were beautiful! We also did lighting washes on us at the front of our ceremony, cake, and front table. This added a nice highlight. We used FS for a few different things at the wedding and were pleased with it all! Let's start with our DJ, Steve. Steve was THE MAN! I had heard about it through other contacts and his reviews were great. We then met with him at one of the open houses held at the office and loved his personality. These guys have done thousands of weddings, but they operate with the same amount of care and attention to everybody. With a few simple details like lighting and drapery they turned the cellar we ate in into a warm space to make memories. These details are worth the money. Third awesome experience: Nick. One part DJ, one part ninja, one part mind-reader, Nick was the perfect emcee for the evening and kept everything on-track in a seamless fashion. When my wife started crying during our first dance and I began trying to beckon everyone to join us on the dance floor, Nick jumped in and got everyone on their feet to join us - a totally impromptu move that made the moment better. This is what you want in a wedding DJ. He plays the right music (not all the goofy stuff you think you want to hear) and knows how to keep a night moving with subtle tweaks. My fiance and I just attended one of Fantasy Sound's open houses. Our first impression of the company was very good since they have a very nice web site, and the decorations and everything in their open house was very professional. The company is even one of the preferred vendors for our wedding site, so we thought everything would be simple and professional. They also offer a 'one stop shop' for DJ, Videography, Uplighting and Drapery services. However, once we arrived to the open house and started interacting with their representatives (or lack thereof) we became unhappy. We signed in and were asked to sit down. We were given a packet of information and told that a DJ would come by and sit down with us to answer any questions we had. So, we did as they asked, sat down and looked over their packet and waited... There were many people in the office shooting the breeze (oh, and we were also the only potential customers in the place) as we looked over the packet and not once did anyone bother to sit down with us to give an overview or even ask us any questions about us, our wedding or what we're looking for. One or two people came by and asked if we had any questions, but quickly walked off. Another couple came in, who was an acquaintance with one of the workers, and they received the type of service that we would have expected. Nothing too complicated, just basic questions like, when is your wedding, where are you having it and how is your planning going. They even introduced one of the DJ's to them, who was just sitting at a desk playing on their iPad just a few feet away from us. Yup, that's right, there was a DJ playing on their iPad doing nothing while we were waiting for a 'DJ' to come by and actually talk to us. So we sat there for a few minutes longer after looking over the packet and tried to see if someone would actually stop by for us ask questions to... but by that time my fiance and I had already made up our minds that we would not use these people. We got up and walked out the door and no one even bothered to say good bye. Seeing how they treat potential new customers does not make us feel comfortable in how they would treat us once we were to actually become their customer. FYI - As we pulled out of their driveway, we checked Yelp and gave Eastwood Entertainment a call. The service we received was night and day compared to Fantasy Sound with even just a simple phone call. The person we spoke to actually cared about us, gave us an overview about their company and answered the questions that we had and even sent us a quote less than half an hour later. read more

Much to our surprise we got the rudest phone call I can ever remember receiving from a business. It was from the girl who worked in their office saying she was going to cancel the date if she did not hear back from us within 24 hours. The hubs and I just got married last week at Casa Real. Everything was perfect and the details came together magically. If you've ever been to Casa Real, the ballroom is really grand but needs A LOT of work to warm and/or glam it up. Fantasy Sound helped us achieve this with their lighting services. We used 3 of their popular 12 light chandeliers to hang over the dance floor, spot lights for the head table and cake table and a GOBO light with our names that projected down onto the dance floor. Just these few details alone really made the ballroom sparkle and liven up. I believe they also offer drapery decor but I found a much more inexpensive alternative versus what FS had quoted me. Like everything else wedding related, the price tags are pretty steep, but they pretty much own the Livermore/Pleasanton venues when it comes to lighting services. What adds to the prices is the setup and equipment needed to install the lighting and fixtures on the ceilings, etc so be prepared for that. I did do some comps against other vendors like Hartmann and Enhanced Lighting & Sound and Fantasy Sound was quite competitive. I recently had my wedding at Palm Event Center and Fantasy Sound did my lighting. I saw a lighting design I liked from Pinterest. So I used 3 of their candle chandlers, gobo lighting and my name on the dance floor. They were all very helpful and professional. We booked Kevin as our DJ for our May 21st wedding and he was AMAZING!! He is so easy to work with and incredibly accommodating! He really listens to what you want and will deliver on all of it. We met with him twice leading up to the wedding and you can tell he's a professional - every appointment was easy, he is completely prepared in advance (which I so appreciated!!) and keeps great notes of the meeting to make sure he captures everything you want. I left both meetings completely confident! Not to mention his staff is great to work with - they follow up with you on scheduled meetings and are on top of it! The wedding could not have gone better - he played every song we asked, left out the songs we weren't crazy about, and rolled with the punches with all of our on-the-spot requests. Fantasy Sound did our lighting and music (DJ) for our wedding and they did a spectacular job! I was planning my wedding my wedding long distance and they were really flexible in meeting via Skype or over the phone. We had gobo lighting, spotlights, and candle chandeliers and everything looked great! It was professionally done and we didn't have to worry about anything! Probably the only thing I wish I'd known was that the candle chandeliers (real candles!) meant that they couldn't turn the fan on and with all the dancing we were getting hot! We just opened the doors and it was fine. Nick was our DJ and he did a great job! He had suggestions for some of the events for songs I couldn't think of, and walked us through the timeline and the evening. When the schedule got tight he suggested changing things around to fit with our photographer's timeline and I absolutely didn't have to worry about anything because I knew he had everything under control. He also had a great suggestion for my husband to introduce our first dance together with his wife which everyone loved! The music was great and everyone was dancing the whole night long! Nick also says that he very closely sticks to any no-play requests, which not all DJs do. He played a great mix and all of our guests had a great time thanks to him! read more
