You will be offered tons of choices - pick your favorites off of the extensive menu - you will be assigned a number - when your order is ready, your number will be called or taped to the window at the counter. They give you LOTS of food at a good price - one order from them always lasts me 2 meals, sometimes 3. Lots of options on the menu. Food is consistently pretty high quality, nothing groundbreaking but makes great comfort food. Personally would recommend General Tso's or orange chicken. read more

I literally got sick from a couple of bites at their food. It is infused with sugar and butter to the point that you cannot eat it. And this was bean curd and veggies. When I alerted them how bad the food was the person didn't do anything about. I laughter at negative reviews when they are based on the poor Chinese girl's demeanor. For god sake she works twelve hour days for very little money. The Staff had attitudes. Very pushy. The young Asian lady had an attitude off the bat when I walked in. I'm standing there placing my order and you know how the words on their menus have small fonts and require reading. The Cashier had a fiery temper and didn't even try to hide it either, just frowning, no smiles. I felt like either I had to hurry up and order or the store was going to evaporate. I was not impressed. I had 4 family members from the city visit me, plus my lady (who's a local). We ordered a modest meal for 6 people. I ended up spending $49 dollars for an (effing) attitude. No thanks. I will never go back there. You couldn't pay me to go back there. Even if you payed for my food. Some of these critical reviews are blowing my mind. Grew up in Vestal and have been going to Far East literally all my life. It's safe to say I've been there hundreds of times over the years. And it's always been quite good. Sure, it might not be the absolute best quality Chinese food in the area... but I'd venture to say it's the best quality for its price range in the area by far. The prices are good. Food quality is generally very good if not great. (Though admittedly some dishes are better than others) They easily have the best fried rice and General Tso's chicken out of any take-out restaurant in the area. The atmosphere is a bit dry (I preferred the older, cozier building they used to be in years ago, personally), but still serviceable. And the staff is great. Maybe not overtly personable, but they're generally quite friendly. For a take-out place, Far East is easily my favorite Chinese joint in the Broome County area. read more

overall i would give this place a 3.5 out of 5. i thought their general tso's combo was great, but a few of the other things could use a little work. the breading on the generals tsos chicken was good, and i really liked the sauce too. the pork fried rice had a good texture and flavor and it had plenty of pork. i would definitely order it again, but i kinda want to try their sesame chicken now too. the eggroll i got was ok, but there was a pool of grease in the bottom of the bag it was in, so that was kinda gross. the fried wontons were also on the greasy side. i liked the wrappers but the meat had no flavor. fortunately the sweet and sour sauce it came with was very good. it was thick and had a nice flavor. the ribs were probably the worst thing i've had here. there was very little meat on them and they were dry. i will definitely be back every so often, this is definitely in the top 5 General Tso's i've had in this area read more

This use to be my favorite place for Chinese. Slowly I've been having issues every time I've came in. I always ask for fried wontons and end up getting steamed wontons. Not a huge issue but my 4th time in a row I became a little angry. Not only did that happen half of my order was missing. Although they did refund me for the wontons and did make the food that was forgotten it was a hassle to have to drive all the way back to correct the issue. It's sad because the food is always great there. I'm just slightly annoyed Of my continuing issue with not getting the correct order this was how ever the first time I did call and go back about the issue and I am happy they did fix it. read more
