Traveling with a friend and this was our first dinner in Banff! The restaurant had a really cozy vibe and since we made a reservation we were seated right away. We got the Bison with Bannock, a side of Brussel spout, a Saskatoon mojito, a featured cocktail, a glass of the ice wine and an old fashion. Bannock is a kind of bread and it was fried. There were 3 little bannock topped with braised bison and finished with saffron on top. It was absolutely delicious and comforting. The Saskatoon mojito was a mocktail- Saskatoon is a berry and it tastes like if grape and blueberry had a baby My friend got he featured cocktail and the old fashion. She LOVED both of them. The featured cocktail had egg whites, amaretto and something else that I can't remember...it was delicious! The host and our waitress was absolutely lovely as well- all in all it was an awesome experience. The food was good and the restaurant is lovely. However, we had shameful service. Our server took our orders and brought our food... period. He never checked on us, or refilled our waters. I had to ask for the check while he spent his sweet time talking up two other tables (one about a run/marathon training and the other about the park and hikes). Perhaps he didn't like our melanin... Had breakfast at Farm & Fire this morning. My boyfriend had the pulled pork bowl and I had the lox bowl as well as a coffee with Bailey's. The food was really good - the lox was definitely worth it as they give you SO MUCH smoked salmon. My boyfriend said his was a little lacklustre. Our server was friendly enough. The restaurant itself is very modern with great big windows that overlook one of the main streets. We went just after 9am, and as we were leaving there was a line of hotel patrons as well as outside customers so pro tip would be to get there early, at least for breakfast. read more

We LOVED it here! We ate here multiple times for breakfast while we were here and got to go orders. I had the best coffee of my life here and everyone in our party agreed. I had a hot decaf mocha with oat milk. They also have almond milk. It was SO GOOD. Coffee had a great flavor and was not overly sweet. Perfection. We had the classic breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, house potatoes and gluten free toast. The GF toast wasn't my favorite but everything else was flavorful. But what really impressed me is when we went back another time and I found out the mini hashbrowns were gluten free!!!! If you get them as a side you get such a generous portion. My husband had the strawberry French toast which was gluten free. It's not a typical French toast (not going to be cinnamon based). We would rank the restaurant itself as a 4.5. The blonde lady across from us talking her date's ears off brought the entertainment up to a 4.6, possibly a 4.7 after the second margarita. We started with the watermelon salad, which I would highly recommend. The carrots are an absolute must and we really liked the fig pizza. I would maybe skip out on the vegetable Wellington next time - it's just corn and mushrooms stuffed in dough with spicy marinara sauce. Great service and nice new decor. But the star of the show was the blonde chick who just kept talking and talking and talking. I'm assuming third date, don't know if the dude will be down for a fourth. A fun little modern cuisine in Banff. We were starving and on the prowl for an open table. Finally we stumbled upon Farm&Fire (what is not to love about farm fresh and fire oven concept!?) The service was friendly and accommodating. The ambiance was nice in the restaurant (but the hotel restrooms left something to be desired... despite a nicely renovated lobby... ). Going to be honest...I was expecting a LOT more after reading other Yelp reviews, and was largely disappointed. Maybe we're paying for the view, since that was the nicest thing. On the plus side, we were seated pretty quickly for a party of 5 without a reservation, and the seating is comfortable, spacious, and well decorated. This is "family style," but portions are too small to be exactly that. Prices are ridiculous as well, especially the $41 we paid for the unseasoned, dry rotisserie chicken (that I could buy a bigger, tastier one at Costco for $5). Another thing I really did NOT like is that it felt like the waiters were trying to upsell dishes to us (ex: recommending the most expensive dishes, recommending that we order a side of mashed potatoes with our chicken, and they were TERRIBLE mashed potatoes). If you DO come here, I recommend ordering a pizza (we got the Fig & Brie pizza, probably the only reasonably priced item), and the Mushroom Loaf. Details on the dishes we ordered below. 1. Wild Mushroom Loaf: Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. My favorite dish that we ordered, though it was small and overpriced. I'd describe it as bougie Thanksgiving stuffing. 2. Vegetable Wellington: not bad, though a bit too sour for my liking. I can equate this to a ratatouille with a puff pastry shell, only the tomato sauce didn't really work with the puff pastry. 3. Full Rotisserie Chicken: I already stated my grievances with this one, but skip this and get yourself a Costco chicken, as it is cheaper, bigger, juicier, and more seasoned. 4. Thyme Mashed Potatoes: recommended by the waiter, and extremely subpar. It was plain and gluey, and stuck to the roof of my mouth. Overall unenjoyable. 5. Fig & Brie Pizza: I think my second favorite dish that we ordered. The balsamic drizzle paired well with the saltiness of the cheese, and the arugula brought a good freshness to the dish. SO GLAD I STOPPED BY HERE. Honestly didn't think there were many options that were appealing to me in Banff, but I did bookmark Farm & Fire. I stopped by here on the last day before leaving Banff, and WOW was I blown away. We came here around 10AM on a Tuesday and the restaurant was quite full. Even though it was quite early, you could order off the breakfast, brunch, AND lunch menu. Such options!! I had ordered the Holy Cow dish from their brunch, which comes with 2 eggs, lots of potatoes, and some very finely cooked beef. The beef was so tender, juicy, and paired so well with the bed of horseradish the beef came on. I never paid close attention to horseradish, but this was just on another level of freshness! I would say my dish was probably the best out of the dishes that my party ordered (Classic breakfast, chicken sandwich, and steak & mushroom). The foods we had were; Holy Cow ($22) -grilled flank steak with roasted potato, sweet corn, mushroom, horseradish, poached egg and hollandaise sauce. This dish was so good the combination is just right. All that was in it were flavorful. Salmon Benny ($22) - English muffin with creme fraiche, dill, fried capper, pickled onion, arugula, poached eggs, house hollandaise, and tasty roasted potato Smashed Avocado ($18) - it looks simple, but the combination of toast, poached egg and chickpea dukkah was so good Baguette Frech Toast ($17) - the toast comes with caramel, banana, cinnamon sugar and whipped cream. This toast is one of the best I have tasted so far; it reminds me of the charcoal toast-like taste. Drip coffee ($3.50) no picture We had a fantastic breakfast; we finished it all. Had a great experience at Farm & fire. Great outdoor seating with the mountains jn the background. We started with a tomato burrata salad which was fresh and seasoned to perfection with a yummy arugala salad to pair. Our entree was the vegetable Wellington which was such a lovely surprise as a vegetarian option and tasty as well. Located right on Banff Avenue, Farm & Fire is a great place to grab a quick cocktail. The restaurant is modern inside and the vibe is quite open. The music is slightly too loud to allow good conversation. The evening started rocky with a slow host. He just looked very busy and couldn't finish his tasks. The restaurant was also quite busy which makes me nervous in this covid era. The host took us to a table that had dirty chairs. The server was average as well but managed to improve and finished strong. Now to the strong points, the food is fantastic. The Brussel sprouts were extraordinary. The potatoes and the squash were delicious. However, the apple crumble felt a bit under cooked but still decent. The last strong point of this restaurant are the cocktails. Incredibly made. We wanted a unique dining experience our last night in Banff and chose this restaurant after reading reviews and checking their website. Farm-to-table restaurants are right up our alley. We made reservations for an early dinner, parked nearby and walked over. You can smell the fire in the open kitchen when you walk in. The restaurant offers large, shareable portions. We enjoyed the mushroom loaf (unique and delicious), grilled fish, and grilled rappini. The rappini was a little bitter but yes, portions were very large and filling. Note, these should be straight up called pizzas- there is no oval or rink shape to the flatbread, it's a straight up circular Large sized pizza, definitely larger than our server loosely used his hands to describe for size. Cardboard-conservatives would cringe but we were given four pizza boxes for our leftovers because none of us could finish and wished we had just ordered and shared two. Their $13 dollar kid menu is an incredible value and too large for the under-12 kids in our group to finish in one sitting, and it even comes with a gourmet cookie ice cream sandwich.
